Hi all

Inspired by all the losses, am now on day 2, think I've lost 2lb but will check again tomorrow to be sure!

Just want to know if anyone in UK can tell me which yogurts are fat free and sugar free as most I've looked at seem to have some sugar eg activia/mullerlite ... does a fat free/sugar free yogurt exist here or is it something you can only get in France and if so, what do people here use?

Also have been having low fat ham/sliced roast beef/chicken for lunch - can I have smoked mackerel/hot smoked salmon as well or not? Can't quite work it out from posts/other sites?

Last question I promise ... is wheat bran allowed on attack or just oat bran?

TIA for any help.

robin3 · 28/09/2010 19:33

Can't answer the yoghurt question I'm afraid. I've just been having muller light vanilla and oat bran. Also not sure about wheat bran but I think not as he's so very very specific about oatbran.

Smoke mackerel/smoked salmon also fine and although he mentions tinned fish (not in sauce), I think in the book it mentions sardines, mackerel etc. in tomato sauce is also fine. He also mentions that balsamic vinegar is ok so adding that to the beef/chicken etc. makes it less bland.

How's it possible to all be the same height and had kids and not be same target? I'm heavy boned i.e. cant get my fingers to touch around my wrists so that makes me even more heavy. Strange.

insertexpletive · 28/09/2010 21:24

kdk - To answer your questions (as best I can)
I don't think there is an ideal fat and sugar free fruit yoghurt. At first I was using Shape as that seemed the best of a bad bunch, but changed about half way through to Activia - liked the idea of yoghurt "helping my digestive tract! Grin

Smoked fish is fine - I really like hot salmon flakes from M&S for my lunch.

Wheat bran is allowed on Attack. I have actually been using it every day from the start. I don't think that you have to have it, but Dukan says that it is fine to help in the umm, poo department Wink

kdk · 28/09/2010 21:30

Thanks for that - was thinking I'd have to chuck the activia vanilla fat free yogurts I bought the other day! Also I'm a bit confused as to how many yogurts you can have every day? Two, three, four??

insertexpletive · 28/09/2010 21:35

In attack he actually says to aviod fruit yoghurts if you can but I don't like plain yoghurt enough to go with that.

I think you can have as much plain yoghurt as you like, but no more than two fruit ones a day in the first three stages.

moonshine · 28/09/2010 21:48

I have activia and the Muller Lites but if you want totally 0% yoghurt then go for, well 0% fat Total yoghurt and add your own flavours! You're supposed to go easy on them but I don't think there's a specific number mentioned but someone might know better than me on that. I tend to have 3 max per day.

As always it's interesting to hear about how others shape up [voyeristic emoticon]. I must be one of these heavy boned/muscled people as I am just under 5ft 6ins and am a sometimes size 14 at 12st 9/10lbs and would be a mostly size 12 at 11st 3-5lbs ish (although I'm pretty sure my stomach will prevent me getting into straight skirts and I am a well-weird shape for trousers - very long body, short legs). My ideal Dukan weight is around 11st 3lbs ish.

I have been eating some carbs in the form of rye crispbreads and managed to pack away some gorgeous Nigella choccy cake I made with dd and yorkshire puds and parsnips on Sunday and have been eating berries but was 1.75lbs less on my Monday 'official' weigh day and another pound down today Hmm. This is all not making sense now.

Based on my own experience in the past week, introducing some oat/rye seems to shake my body up a bit but maybe I should reserve my judgement until I see the longer time effects...

moonshine · 28/09/2010 21:49

x-posts. Obviously it is also effecting my typing speed and thought process...

zaazaa · 28/09/2010 22:14

I have now been on the attack phase for 5 days and only lost 2.5lbs. I am nearly 4 stones overweight and understood that if I only had a small amount of weight to lose then weight loss would be slow but I need to lose 30lbs plus to get to a normal weight.

Is this normal? Everyone else seems to have dropped lots of weight. Could I be drinking/eating too much skim milk and yoghurt?

I buy Muller lights fat free in toffee and vanilla flavour and eat about 3 a day (small pots). I drink about 3/4 pint skim milk a day.

I drink water with a weak dilution of Robinsons Special R sugar free squash.

I don't eat anything off the allowed list or with fat.

Please could someone let me know if they have had a similar experience or if they think I am doing anything wrong/reasons why?

ust to give you an idea of what I eat

Today

Breakfast: Two large cups of tea no sugar skim milk

1 boiled egg, fat free Toffee Muller light, large glass of water

Mid morning:

coffee with skim milk fat free vanilla yoghurt, water

Lunch:

Dukan galette with smoked salmon, fat free fromage frais and half a teaspoon of capers, large glass of water

Mid afternoon: protein shake (low carb made with water) coffee with skim milk

Dinner:

Piece of rump steak rubbed with chilli flakes, small pot fat free cottage cheese, two fat free vanilla yoghurts

3 cups tea with skim milk, 4 large glasses water with dilute sugar free squash

Katisha · 28/09/2010 22:20

zaazaa that looks OK to me. Maybe cut back on the yoghurts though as they are about 10-15 carbs a pot and that adds up if you have three or four a day.

On our previous thread I seem to remember some people not have huge weight loss during the initial stage - but it seemed to even out. I wouldn't worry and just carry on. Better to lose more slowly anyway, as the experts always tell us!

PS where did you find the fat free cottage cheese? I can't find any.

zaazaa · 28/09/2010 22:30

Hi Katisha, thanks for the advice as I am getting worried I am doing something wrong as other seem to have lost practically a pound a day. will definitely cut back on the yoghurts but also wonder if I have been 'vaccinated' as he says in the book as I did start a traditional low carb High fat diet earlier this year and lost about 6lbs in 3 days but then a family bereavement and the diet went out of the window Hmm

I could not find 0% fat cottage cheese so I made my own at home and it was really easy - skim milk, lemon juice and a little pinch of salt - takes about half an hour.

Here is a link to show you how

www.allotment.org.uk/allotment_foods/cheese-making/making-cottage-curd-cheese.php

zaazaa · 28/09/2010 22:47

The lowest fat ready made cottage cheese I have seen is Waitrose Essentials low fat cottage cheese which is 1.5% fat.

I so want this diet to work as not only am I a size 16, the biggest I have ever been but most of the weight is around my tummy which I know is no good for the heart Sad

Katisha · 28/09/2010 23:32

Thanks for the cottage cheese recipe - that could save a fortune!

Yes I was worried about being "vaccinated" as well as I reckon the usual low carb was starting to not work for me. This has been much more effective (apart from the recent plateau. Have I mentioned my plateau? Let me tell you all about my plateau...)

zaazaa · 28/09/2010 23:34

Did you do something to kickstart the weight loss again?

Katisha · 28/09/2010 23:35

No am still on plateau! But I will be stricter for next few days and hope to see those scales diving!

PandaBear · 29/09/2010 08:11

Hi All. Well, a weekend away without the DDs and the diet sort of went out of the window (chips, jacket potato, rice, bread, wine.... the works Blush). But, I'm determined not to give in - so it's back on the attack for me until Saturday.

It's interesting to read all of your True Weights. According to Dukan mine is 10st 13lbs. I am 5ft 11.5 - have had 2 children and am a normal bone structure, so am amazed to hear that others who are significantly shorter have a higher true weight. Does anyone know how he calculates this?

missnevermind · 29/09/2010 10:28

Thanks for the cottage cheese rec will try that later.
I read on his site that Dukan says no more than 500g of dairy a day. But to be honest half a kilo does sound a lot.

missnevermind · 29/09/2010 10:49

Can I ask your starting weights and targets please.
Mine was 18st 7lb and I have just reached my 1st magic number of below 16 st.
15st 13 1/2 lb this morning but as I said the last 20 days I have been up and down between 16st 4 and 16 and one half pound.

I have had a bit of a pig out for a few days, just not followed the diet too closely and had some toast with butter, and then restarted on attack yesterday which seems to have got me moving again.

zaazaa · 29/09/2010 11:35

I started off at 13 st 11.5lbs and today I weighed 13st 7.5lbs after a week of attack phase. Dukan says my weight should be 11st 12lbs which is far too heavy. I should be around 10st 4lbs to be ideal.

I will try to limit the dairy missnevermind and se what happens. I will definitely cut back on the yoghurts as I did not realise how carb heavy they are and that could definitely slow me down!

Morning, ladies!

Made it! Made it! Today I got to 9st 6lbs!!!!

Missnevermind, I'm 5ft 10in and I started the diet on 13th July, weighing 11st 9lbs. My "true weight", according to Dukun, should be 9st 9lbs, but I really wanted to get back to my best weight and I'm going to work very hard to protect it.

I haven't still recovered from the shock of seeing the last pound go - two went last week, then I started TOTM and I had pretty much given up hope of any movement this week, but hey presto! I need to get my head into gear for Consolidation, it really scares me now... I will carry on with Cruise for the rest of the week and start Consolidation on Monday. I think I'm really going to take it easy with the bread and the cheese - I'm not craving bread and one slice to supplement my breakfast would be ample right now. Really looking forward to having some pasta - my DH's rigatone are absolutely to die for!

Well done everyone with their losses - keep it up, Dukan soldiers!

Crikey Snowie! 5'10 and 9st 6?

Bloody well done!

SnowieBear · 29/09/2010 13:16

Cheers, Lottie, it's very strange - I don't think I look significantly different today that I did yesterday, but I feel over the moon to have actually achieved it!

I will certainly keep posting re: consolidation. Hearing the comments of a few others currently doing it gave me lots of reassurance, I do hope it works for me too (really must organise myself for this - it's taking me through Xmas, and that's going to be difficult!).

PandaBear · 29/09/2010 13:20

Well done SnowieBear - really pleased for you. Good luck with consolidation.

SnowieBear · 29/09/2010 13:22

Hi Katisha, confession time... I used to model, I really wanted to get back to feeling as I used to Blush.

Struggling with clothes - gone from generous size 12 and 14 clothes to size 10 and I've only have a skirt, a trouser suit and a pair of jeans that actually fits. Boss at work confirmed we are not getting a pay rise (yet again!) or a bonus this year, so I'm going to have to be inventive with scarves, etc. to make three pieces of clothing look interesting every day Smile.
