I've been putting off losing weight for too long - I've kept saying "Yes I'll have another chocolate/bag of crisps/Magnum Grin, and I'll start the diet tomorrow/Monday/next month"

But this time I'm going to do it. I've got zero willpower so I am counting on the wonderful world of Mumsnet for support!

Now for the facts:

I'm 5'8" and this morning I weighed in at 14st 5lb Shock!

Aged 17, I weighed 9st 3lb Sad. Now I'm not saying I want to go back to that, but I would be very happy with 11st 7lb, taking me into a healthy weight range, and 10st 10lb as my goal weight.

But for the time being, I just want to get out of the obese category Sad Blush.

ALL TIPS AND ADVICE WELCOME!

big high five to Beachy!

have been wellbehaved foodwise for a couple of days but a nightmare journey back home tonight and we ended up getting chips from a chipper somewhere on route as ds was starving and grumpy - and so was I. Big oops. Will weigh myself tomorrow and report in!

JustBeachy · 16/10/2010 06:36

Well this morning I have mainly discovered that I cannot drink a bottle of wine and get up hangover free if i am not eating my previous diet of plenty of carbs and fat! I feel rough Sad am drinking hot water and lemon with a tsp of honey and hoping that will help!

On the plus side I didn't eat any snacks at all yesterday! too busy!

Plan for today is Day 6 of the Shred, cereal brekkie, ryvita lunch and either chicken curry or oxtail stew for tea depending on what DH wants to cook Grin Weekends are always harder for me so we'll see how it goes!

sharra162 · 16/10/2010 09:23

Hello all can I join in too? Have recently gone onto SW after being at around 12 st 6 for ages and ages (am 5'7''). My scales feel I'm either 12st 3 or 12 st5 depending on how I stand on them Hmm

This time last year I was under 12 stone but it was down to stress and it all went back on - have done alright on SW so far, except for wine and biscuits in the staffroom at work. Haven't done any exercise, can't get motivated - might start a bit of walking after reading this thread though! Love the reward idea - going to decide on one for me when it's at the half stone mark :)

CheeryCemetery · 16/10/2010 09:30

Hi all Blush, have not been around and have been stuffing my face as usual, have weighed myself today and have put on 4lbs - which is not a surprise.
Need a kick up the arse!
MUST stop nibbling. The meals I make are reasonably healthy.
MUST stop all the grazing. I don't know why I do it, its like an addiction. Maybe I should get some chewing gum to fool myself I am eating!
I know what to do, its just motivating myself. Any words of wisdom anyone?
Moan moan moan!
Some of you lot are doing well!

JustBeachy · 16/10/2010 18:28

Today's going well - I feel better now thank god! Am gearing up to do the Shred when the kids have been put to bed. Snacks today only an apple and dinner is going to be DH's Chicken curry with rice and daal. Will aim for a normal small portion Grin

Think I will stay off the wine tonight after my delicate morning!! Looking forward to blue petering away in front of X factor to make some stuff my DS needs for his tutoring.

JustBeachy · 17/10/2010 08:45

Well I had a handful of raisins and a hot choc yesterday too in the end...actually I am feeling quite angry with DH because he made the hot choc, supposed to be 40cal High Lights, and he made it with all full cream milk no water, and then when I asked him if he had he lied and said not Sad I haven't had a hot choc for months so I had forgotten what they tasted like so I believed him but I was suspicious it was too nice...it's not even the extra 130cals it's the lie that has made me cross sigh I would prob have drunk it anyway, but maybe half if I had been allowed to make my own decision. Bloody men.

At least being cross has put me right off breakfast! I'm planning ryvita lunch and shepherds pie with veg for tea.

JustBeachy · 17/10/2010 08:45

that was meant to be sigh

JustBeachy · 17/10/2010 08:46

or even >

sharra162 · 17/10/2010 10:40

Blimey, have lost three pounds on first week! Still suspicious of scales but chosen to believe them :)

Pumpkinbummum · 17/10/2010 11:31

I haven't weighed in yet, although I'm not optimistic

JustBeachy · 17/10/2010 12:17

well done sharra

I have told DH off and done Day 7 of the Shred so am feeling better now! Lunch then off out with the children.

4andnotout · 17/10/2010 17:13

Well done Sharra :)

I've been swimming (mainly wallowing in the toddler pool with dd's 2,3&4 though) and had a KFC on the way home Blush I did only have a sandwich all day yesterday so I'm sure it won't hurt.

Back to the walking routine tomorrow, going to try and do at least 4 miles in 2 stages.

Albansanne · 17/10/2010 17:24

I'd love to join in too, would be good to have some online moral support. I've started trying to shift the weight that i've piled on after separating from my husband and now's the time to start to dealing with it. I think a stone by Christmas is doable, good luck ladies!

JustBeachy · 18/10/2010 06:53

First goal reached! I'm 10.10 (.09 but i'm ignoring that bit!) this morning so i'll book a wax for this week Grin

Today i'm doing a course so packed lunch will be 3 x ryvita with cream cheese/cup-a-soup/apple. Dinner is going to be pumpkin soup with chorizo. Shred Day 8 level 1 this evening.

I have a busy week this week and thurs is going to be manic so I will shred mon/tues/wed and finish level 1 then have a day off thurs and start level 2 on fri.

Hi to all new joiners - hope you get off to a good start this week everyone!

4andnotout · 18/10/2010 07:59

Yay Beachy!!
Back into the swing of it this morning, going or a walk after dropping girls at schools, the will do loads of running up and down the stairs doing loads of housework before the inlaws arrive for tea this evening! Will probably join the girls in a game of justdance on the wii.

Tobermory · 18/10/2010 08:51

Hi all, may I join you?

In the past I have had a poor track record when it comes to dieting, giving up
at the earliest opportunity. I tend to have a 'sod it' approach to foods I shouldn't eat, lovely at the time but not great for seeing the numbers go down! My downfall. Is snacking, seeing foods as treats, portion sizes, bad habits....

I started my diet 10 days ago and have lost 7.5 lb in that time. This is sone of the baby weight from DD, 20 weeks tomorrow. Want to lose another 1.5 stone in the first instance, def by Xmas. Was feeling v positive, but then checked what my BMI should be to be 'healthy' Sad, takes the shine off my weight loss so far!

sharra162 · 18/10/2010 14:10

Well done Beachy!! And Tobermory too, that's a really great start!

I have been round Tesco's and not bought anything with chocolate in it. Mind you it's only two oclock..

Feelingsensitive · 18/10/2010 21:42

Hello. May I join too? I was trying the Dukan diet but I found it too restrictive and expensive (lots of meat).This is me;

Age: 36
Ht: 5' 4"
Wt: 11 st 2lbs

I want to be 9st 7lbs.

These are my goals:

10 st 9lbs - manicure (never had one!)
10st 4lbs (wedding weight!)- New pair of boots
9st 12lbs - new make up
9st 7lbs - clothes, clothes, clothes!

This is my plan:
Loads of water
3 meals a day
Reduce portions and carbs (no carbs for evening meal)
Limit snackc
No cakes/biscuits/choc etc.

Wish me luck.

JustBeachy · 19/10/2010 07:47

Hi feeling I like your plans!

Yesterday went OK - I had a sliver of birthday cake and 4 toffees in addition to planned meals so not ideal but not a disaster!

Today's plan is Day 9 on level 1 of the Shred, ryvita and cream cheese for lunch and bacon and mushroom omelette and salad for dinner. I will also have a little slice of HM fruit tea-bread as I have people coming for tea.

4andnotout · 19/10/2010 09:01

Morning all, have had a crap couple of days so not too positive for Thursdays weigh in :(
Haven't been able to do any walking as dd's 1&2 were sent home from school ill yesterday so I can't drag them out.

I really need to lose at least .5 of a lb this week as then I'll have reached my first half stone.

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 19/10/2010 10:51

Hi ladies,

very impressed by all the diligence on this thread, and esp well done to Tobermory's great start!

well i was 11stone 1 on the scales at work on sat am, so 1 pound off. Not amazing but better than the other way!

However i went to the doctors yesterday (for another issue) and she weighed me as part of the checks and her scales said 69 kilos which is 10 stone 12! i think i like hers better ...but i will go by the work scales for a regular weighin as that's what i've been using all along.

Off to swim (well paddle in baby pool) with ds (4) hope its nice and warm!

JustBeachy · 20/10/2010 08:16

Morning all - i'm feeling a bit crappy this morning, sore throat/stuffy nose so i'm giving exercise a miss today.

Foodwise I'm planning cereal brekkie/soup lunch/pasta dinner.

I really hope I can weigh in on friday at 10st9something then only 2lbs to do next week before I can get my hair sorted out! Half term next week though so prob won't be able to exercise much as kids will be underfoot Grin

thistimeiwilldoit · 20/10/2010 10:48

Hi all - I've been lurking but not posting as A) couldn't be bothered to name change (is there a lazy emoticon Grin) and B) was feeling really ill/had TOTM.

Anyway, Monday's weigh in I was 14st 4lb which is a 1lb loss. Not good considering I have been supposed to be doing this for 3 weeks!

I've been really bad, I have to admit. I think I comfort eat when I don't feel great as I have had 2 scones and a chocolate bar this week.

Anyway, I did go to Zumba last night which I really enjoyed and I would recommend it to anyone who has not tried it as it is great cardio that you don't even realise you are doing.

After doing it I decided that I might sign up for a few classes at the gym as they are included in the price of membership. I had decided not to go previously as there are quite a lot of poncey and judgmental gorgeous people at the gym and I thought I wouldn't fit in, but I don't care anymore. They will just have to put up with me and my jiggly bits.

However, I did fall and hurt my leg quite badly this morning so I'm not sure how long it will take to get better. I'm a bit gutted as I was feeling really motivated after Zumba!

Sorry to hear you're not feeling well Beachy, hope you're better soon.

Well done everyone on your weight loss! Everyone (except me) is doing really well!

4andnotout · 20/10/2010 13:23

Morning Thistime I hope your leg gets better soon! I really want to try Zumba, a friend is getting me a timetable to see if I can fit it in with dp, if the centre has a crèche it won't be a problem.

Dp has lost another lb so has lost a stone in 4 weeks, my weigh in tomorrow so will keep my fingers crossed.

I've been very good the last couple of days, I did just have half of a crunchy after lunch, but I went halves with dp and pointed it out, after not having a proper packet of sweets it tasted bloody lovely!! Saturday will be hard as we have parties to go to, plus dd4 will be 2 so she will have birthday cake and I will have to have a slice!

Tobermory · 20/10/2010 15:20

Zumba? What's it like? Me and excercise don't really get on, I am scarily unfit! But it would certainly speed up my weight loss.

Things going v well, ignoring the inner voice shouting for chocolate!
