I WILL lose a stone by Christmas - who is joining me?

I've been putting off losing weight for too long - I've kept saying "Yes I'll have another chocolate/bag of crisps/Magnum Grin, and I'll start the diet tomorrow/Monday/next month"

But this time I'm going to do it. I've got zero willpower so I am counting on the wonderful world of Mumsnet for support!

Now for the facts:

I'm 5'8" and this morning I weighed in at 14st 5lb Shock!

Aged 17, I weighed 9st 3lb Sad. Now I'm not saying I want to go back to that, but I would be very happy with 11st 7lb, taking me into a healthy weight range, and 10st 10lb as my goal weight.

But for the time being, I just want to get out of the obese category Sad Blush.

ALL TIPS AND ADVICE WELCOME!

Well I'm doing well sticking to my points, and have signed up for aerobics Shock I'm feeling positive about my weigh in on Thursday and have even pointed up a cake to make for the school coffee morning so that all of the points counters can have a slice!

armbow · 28/09/2010 18:01

jumping in !!! Grin

I would love to lose a stone for xmas

off to google the british heart institute diet.

AspieGirl · 29/09/2010 07:28

Well, I've weighed myself...so starting today...

Hugs

AspieGirl · 29/09/2010 07:31

What's the British Heart Institute diet? Do you have a link? I can search for one later, so don't worry if you don't....just the morning will be busy with uni.

I'm going to be doing the Dukan diet I think, but am bored with it so would welcome suggestions.

Hugs

4andnotout · 29/09/2010 08:18

It's going to be my hardest day today as every Wednesday I spend the day at my parents house with my mum, grandparents and dd's. My grandparents always come with armfuls of sweets and cake, nan did say this week she wouldn't bring donuts though. Might have to take some WW cookies with me!
Looking forward to my weigh in tomorrow, hope I've lost something!

Chocamochalatte · 29/09/2010 10:08

Apparently the BHI Diet is nothing to do with BHI ...

Chocamochalatte · 29/09/2010 10:09

What is the Dukan Diet?

SuperLapin · 29/09/2010 12:07

Oh dear day one, and already floundering. Took DC1 to theatre group this morning and then took DC2 for a walk into town, but we live in France, and walked past the patisserie and I ended up buying three cakes (not all for me but one each) so I've scoffed a raspberry custard cake thing and it was gorgeous, but probably not conducive to losing a stone. OK will start again tomorrow.

On the plus side the raspberries were completely fresh so probably contribute to my five a day.

BessieBoots · 29/09/2010 12:10

Ooooh crap. It's DS2's birthday, and I'm having a day off... Hmm

thistimeiwilldoit · 29/09/2010 13:40

Oh dear I see we have a few you floundering.... Wink

Never mind - don't let it stop you - you can start again tomorrow!

I'm feeling really proud of myself as I have had salad every day for lunch and have been making lovely filling healthy dinners - last night it was mushroom stir fry - DH couldn't actually finish his!

I am feeling the best I have in years and it's only day 3 - and I haven't felt hungry at all!

Heaps and heaps of veg is the way forward!

Here are some good books with great healthy recipes:

Anna Richardson Body Blitz

BBC Good Food

Carol V Detox

Do you recommend any of the recipes in those books especially thistime ?

Not too bad for me. Still focusing on cutting out crap. Did have so left over pizza from the boys at dinner time as I was starving and main meals were a bit more calorific than I intended but my aim this week is to break the habit of buying/consuming chocs and cakes.

So big achievement that had no cake at a friends house, didn't purchase any choc bars this afternoon despite being starving and there are some left overs from today's playdate goodies (normally one for you, one for you and 4 for me!).

Tomorrow's aim is to make my main meals more healthy too.

Great to hear your feeling good thistime - makes it so much easier.

Onwards and downwards..........

4andnotout · 30/09/2010 07:55

It's my weigh in day at WW today so I'm keeping my fingers crossed, dp has lost 8lbs this week Envy however as long as I've lost and not gained I shall be happy!

thistimeiwilldoit · 30/09/2010 11:34

4andnotout - what time is your weigh in - let us know how you get on!

maryfarquhar - none especially, but in the BBC Good Food one, they all look yummy - I have made only a few and they tasted as good as they looked.

I got the book in Asda for £3 and it's been totally worth it.

Can I join please ladies?
really need the support, need to lose about 4 stone, but 2 for Xmas will do.
Feeling dreadfully low right now, so might just lurk if that's ok?

4andnotout · 30/09/2010 12:12

I lost 2.5lbs Grin I'm very pleased as it's a step in the right direction :)

thistimeiwilldoit · 30/09/2010 20:07

maryfarquhar · 30/09/2010 20:22

Fab 4andnotout!

Am going to buy the Good Food book tomorrow. DH could do with losing a few pounds too!

Not too bad today. Not healthy lunch at all but another no snacking day.

Hmmmm watching Nigella - not good weightloss TV. Flipping Chocolate Peanut Butter cheesecake. Am off to make a lo cal hot choc to fend off the cravings!

CheeryCherry · 01/10/2010 22:08

Ok, am back on the thread now, the cupboard is still full of left over party mini rolls, bicss, buns, but will get my act together and get started. I need to eat a lot of fibre - have been struggling a bit lately Blush Grin
That heart institute diet looks cruel!
Good luck all.

kkey21 · 01/10/2010 22:17

I'm still here and very serious about it this time.

So far, not too bad but gutted i have gained a whole stone since May this year! I blame the depo Angry Wink

I aim to go for 1lb a week which will get me right back on track.

mummynoseynora · 01/10/2010 22:27

Is it too late to join in too?!?!?!?

I don't even know what size clothes I am Hmm 14/16/maternity clothes still!

DS is nearly 9 months old (dc2) and I have just short of a stone to go to pre'baby weight... but a few more stones to go too!

My goal too is to not be 'obese' I am currently 5'4" and 14st 3lb..... I turn 30 in february so want to be 'overweight' by then... with my aim being 12st3lb so 2st off in just under 5 months....

I don't have much focus at the moment having recently gone back to work and having to DC - I am finding life VERY busy!! my downfall is comfort foods!

4andnotout · 01/10/2010 22:39

kkey21 my weight has piled on since being on the depo too, i came off it 9 months ago and still no af (sorry if tmi) I'm hoping losing weight will kickstart af again so we could ttc once i'm lighter.

Have a bad day today, went to the school's coffee afternoon and had a slice of cake and then licked all of the buttercream Blush from 2 buns that dd3 asked for and hten left. That and the 5 bottle of stella at my neighbours beauty party.......will get back on the wagon tomorrow!

thistimeiwilldoit · 03/10/2010 10:33

Uugh.

I started off so well.

But here is what I have eaten over the weekend:

Friday night - 3 slices Dominos pizza with garlic and herb dip, 5 Rowntrees randoms

Saturday morning - DH brought me a cup of tea in bed with sugar in it (drank itSad)

Breakfast: Bran flakes with oat milk

Lunch: Chicken breast burger and fries with honey and mustard mayo and onion rings at TGI Fridays Blush

Dinner: Ham and cucumber sandwich, crisps, 4 bits of rocky road, handful of percy pigs, whole bag of Rowntrees randoms, chocolate milkshake Blush Blush

This morning: Tea with sugar

2 x sausages, bacon, fried egg, 2 x toast, tomato.

Yuck yuck yuck.

I am so disappointed in myself. I did however, in the midst of all that, eat a few apples and some watermelon.

Anyway, planning on detoxing by drinking gallons of water today!

How has everyone else's weekend been?

OP posts:
4andnotout · 03/10/2010 12:33

I had a bad day Friday and then yesterday dp treated me to all you can eat Chinese buffet, it was all I ate all day but still well over my points!
Back on the wagon today though, had a pancake for breakfast, a skinny cow ice-cream as a snack and a hot chocolate. Going to cook a fake roast this afternoon with pork chops, will be well within my points. I need to go for a fast walk tomorrow morning after dropping dd's 1-3 at school. I need to work on my exercise really.

CheeryCherry · 04/10/2010 10:16

Well, terrible weekend - stayed home as lot for a change and nibbled a lot!
So! Will start properly now. Honest!
Need to do a supermarket run, so will try get healthy food only.
Good luck all!

thistimeiwilldoit · 04/10/2010 11:30

Well I weighed myself.......

14st 3.5lb - so I've lost 1.5lb - think I could have done better but had a weekend of excess due to dd's birthday.

Got my ultra healthy tesco delivery coming this afternoon and I've done ok this morning, though did have a half teaspoon of sugar in my coffee.

I'm thinking of getting the Jillian Michaels 30 day Shred DVD - has anyone tried it?

Sorry to hear that CheeryCherry - think we all had a bad weekend didn't we! I was nibbling on full fat crisps last night whilst watching the X Factor!
