Do you tell others that your weight loss is due to the jabs?

I have lost 1st 4lbs- about 10% of my body weight. Today someone actually noticed and commented on it. It was our lovely cleaner at work. She asked me how and so I told her. I expect as I lose more, I'll get asked this question more.

Do you just tell people the truth? I'm inclined to but not 100% sure as I want to see how I go with it long term.

What do you tell people? I think most people who have lost a lot of weight in the last couple of years will have used the jabs.
Also I'm generally an open person. So I'm not sure why I'm feeling reluctant to be evasive.

I talked it through with my partner before starting the jabs, and he was very supportive. I also told my boss because we talk about everything.

I won't tell my parents as I think they'll be angry. Not because I'm taking jabs, but because they are tighter than a ducks arse and will constantly tell me it's a waste of money. I can't be bothered hearing it, so if they say anything I'll tell them I'm dieting

Face looks different on jab, doesn't matter you lost 20 or 70kg. You can disagree, but lots of people notice it too.

I’m on MJ myself and I’m inclined to agree with this to an extent. My face looks totally different, even when I compare it to when I was a size 10 in my twenties. I’ve also noticed nearly everyone I know on MJ has totally lost their bum, one bit of advice I’d give to anyone starting “train your glutes”.

Ozempic Face… My sister’s face is chiselled in a way it never has been before. Even when we were young & slim. She’s back to her early twenties weight. She looks good, though!

Edited

Chiseled? Well she won't have the same face she had in her twenties even when she weighed the same!? She will have less fat in her face now due to age!

Because you're older!?!? How is that not obvious to you?

AquamarinePearlGold · 04/09/2026 20:35

Nope. Not telling anyone apart from DH.
I lost 3.5 stone. It annoys me when people comment on my size, even if they think they’re being complementary, to be honest. I find it so intrusive. It’s no one’s business!
If they say have you lost weight I just say yes. If they say you look GREAT! I just say thanks, smile & change the subject. If they ask me what I did I’m honest and say I counted calories, stopped drinking alcohol, got a PT, ate loads of protein and veg and drank shed loads of water. That’s all true. Stopped taking jabs in Feb and have kept it off by continuing these habits.

Err that’s nuts. They have lost it with diet, they are eating less, how do you think it works? It’s not magic.

May be may be not,

one of the reasons I am stopping at BMI 27 is because of my face (and because I’m happy at this weight as I am tall) !

I stopped cold turkey at BMI 27 first round (after 4.5 st in 7 months) I had a hanging face and turkey neck , may be because of rapid loss I don’t know

while I was off for 9 weeks my face looked stunning almost like I had Botox and fillers plus turkey neck gone , unfortnetly gained a stone in that time (I went cold turkey from 12.5) restarted and my face is awful , I’m now at 5st total loss but the skin on my face literally can be pulled , it’s hanging and hollow ! Once my weight is stable (I’m on maintaiance now on 7.5 from 15mg) and not expected to gain or loose I will do some filler and Botox

im not low BMI , I still have chicken legs and a tummy and in my early 40’s with a face of a 60 year old .

May be it’s the rapid loss , maybe it’s the anti inflammatory , may be it’s the weight loss with age , but Ozempic face is deffo a thing 100%

Of course your face looks different to when you were in your 20s! 🤪

and a flat arse means lack of muscle. Not working out. Again it’s nothing to do with th4 medication, you can’t really think it targets your arse? And your facial structure?

Cmon now, of course it’s not, I’m sorry you’ve been unlucky but logically you must know this hormone does not target your facial muscles and structure, cmon.

I don’t share- close friends yes, but others… no. Including my family who are quite strong in their opinions!

I’ve lost just over 3 stone, and I’m 1lb off my target but plan to stay on MJ. I look considerably slimmer (am now a 10 and was a 16).

I just say thanks for noticing when people comment.

Teffe · 04/09/2026 21:00

No. No one other than my DH. Has been 18 months. I don’t discuss my weight (or anyone else’s) and my friends know that.

Willowy2 · 05/09/2026 07:09

Ive lost 5 stone and yes my face looks different, better than ever actually! Im 44, everyone thinks im in my early 30s when they first meer me. When I was slim in my 20s my face was puffy because I was drinking alcohol, not living a healthy lifestyle, also had an undiagnosed autoimmune codition. But yes I was still slim. Now I don't drink alcohol at all, live a healthy lifestyle, strength train, and most importantly I'm the happiest and most content I've ever been due to the stage of life im in, so yes my face is different but its not ozempic face! 😅 Also no flat arse over here, because of strength training....

worriedbeyondwords · 05/09/2026 08:04

I tell everyone who asks. I’ve lost 8stone so very noticeable as went from size 22 - size 8. I am not embarrassed about it. I’m thankful for it.

I did a LOT of research. Read the SUMMOUNT study. Medical journals. etc and can shut down any negativity pretty quickly backed by actual facts.. as opposed to ‘Instagram knowledge’ .

QueefQueen80s · 05/09/2026 08:15

I share but everyone can tell anyway, it was unusual to see many people lose weight before and now people who have always loved food and struggled are suddenly succeeding

KippyMcKippy · 05/09/2026 08:28

I wouldn’t think it anyone else’s business but I assume anyone who has lost weight who has previously been overweight for years has used jabs or pills. I wouldn’t be embarrassed about it personally. I’d just be pleased I’d lost weight.
I have a group of friends who are all obese and as the slim member of the group I’m careful to not talk about weight or dieting unless it’s really relevant. They have talked about the jabs and all seem to think it’s outrageous if people use them and that they are cheating. It’s really odd. They are the ones that would be judgemental.

That is odd, can they all afford the meds?. I never really understand why anyone would think weight loss is some form of competition, or it’s about the journey, or that you need to suffer and struggle. I don’t get it at all.

for me, it’s about health, the end goal, to be a healthy weight.

i understand the average iq of our population is quite low, but some of the views expressed by people are baffling that anyone can even think it. From it targets your facial muscles and structure, or it targets your arse muscles, or alters your appearance, to you are cheating if you use medication to help you get healthy, you need to struggle and fail and do it without help, otherwise be fat as some form of penance for your gluttony. It’s just super odd mindsets.

TheChosenTwo · 05/09/2026 10:30

I’ve told one person, they also confided in me That they’re taking it and haven’t told anyone else.
No one has asked me, I’m sure they’ve suspected/assumed but not one person has actually asked me. Ive lost 7st and holding steady at the weight I’m at, it’s almost been 2 years now. No intention to ever come off it.

To be fair, theres always common myths in fitness and exercising that people accept without really thinking about - like the idea that you can get a six pack and 'tone your stomach' by doing lots of crunches, or that you can get a chiselled, bodybuilder level physique by going to the gym for three months, or that particular foods 'burn body fat' (anyone remember the maple syrup and lemon juice fad??)

Err there's this thing called aging - the jabs help you not overeat, not turn back time. I have been the same weight (slim) all my adult life, I'm 54 now and have a much thinner face than I did when I was 25.

I think logic flies out of the window when it comes to weight I really do.

No turkey face here either and still have my boobs.

Yes she does, we talked about it previously, about some other people who were on it, and good for them etc.
I think it also gets to me because it couldn’t be any more obvious and therefore I feel she must think I’m stupid. Like a pp, I do think it’s obvious in 2026 if someone who has been significantly over weight for a long time, struggles to lose weight for years, and then suddenly drops a load of dress sizes. Who do they think they’re kidding with stories of eating better? And it makes the person they’re telling feel like they’re being treated like a fool.
but I wish anyone well who is using these and improving their health and their self confidence, 100% good for them.

She could be telling the truth. I've tried for years to lose weight and in the last 18 months I've lost over 8 stone without WLIs and by changing how I eat.

I will partly credit WLIs, I wanted to take them but for various reasons I was wary of some parts of it and scared of some parts of it, I decided to try one last time to lose weight myself and the thought of having to take WLIs if I didn't do it really motivated me.

My sil was similar, she really wanted the drugs, always been obese, always struggled to lose it, but she’s contraindicated, this time she has lost the weight. Without the meds, I think as so many of her friends and family on them, it gave her a determination,

although I’m bemused by your comment that the thought of taking weight loss meds really motivated you. They come with so many health benefits, from cardio vascular to liver health and reduction is many cancers, taking them is a positive.

I just mean for me personally. For other people I think they're amazing, and if people are getting positive side effects from them that's great.

A lot of people don’t take them as they are worried about side effects or long term effects. But I agree obesity is much worse in terms of health
