Hello everyone, I'm due to start on MJ in the next few days, and I'm feeling nervous!

I've been above size 20 since I was about 14/15 years old. The highest weight I've ever logged was 134kg, about 14 years ago. I'm currently 117kg. I also have issues with my heart caused by Cushing's, type 2 diabetes and PMOS.

In the past few years, I'm yo-yo'd between 125kg and 110kg three times. I know how to lose weight and can do it... but as soon as work gets busy or stressful, I fail and give up. I also have an issue with binge and secret eating.

I went for my annual diabetic review yesterday and the nurse basically used the whole time telling me about going on MJ, because my BMI is over 40 (well, as of yesterday's weigh in, I'm 39. something) and because of my other health conditions. I didn't have to fight for it, or request it.. they're just giving it to me.

Now I'm doing as much reading/ video watching as I can to clue myself up.

On my on-track days, I eat:

Breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs with some flavouring- chilli flakes or marmite or 15g cheddar.

Lunch: Chicken thigh fillet in some kind of seasoning mix, salad made of lettuce, pepper, tomatoes, cucumber, sugarsnaps, carrot. Sometimes 3 cream crackers and a laughing cow triangle as well.

Dinner: Varies- roast chicken dinner/ 5% fat mince spaghetti bolognese with wholewheat pasta/ beef burger without the bun with cheese, salad on half the plate, usually without chips, noodles with chicken and stirfry veg.

Snacks: Usually a portion of berries/ a nectarine/ cherries/ 25g peanuts at 4pm.

How does that sound?

I have a treadmill and run/walk at 6.5/6km/hr pace for 30 mins three times a week. The nurse said I should do some weights for my arms too.

Any recommendations for which day I should inject?

Hi all,
How has everyone's weekend been?
I often eat way too much rubbish on a Saturday/Sunday but have done much better this weekend.
I do feel as if I'm experiencing a bit more food noise than I did earlier in the week, but that makes sense as I'm getting close to my second injection (Tuesday)
I've been pretty active in the garden this weekend, and also managed a strength workout yesterday (Caroline Girvan) Hoping I might be able to get myself out for a run next week..
Hope everyone is doing ok. 😊

Hello, I'll join if I may? First jab Friday afternoon. Been a bit up and down with side effects since then. A bit of reflux but not bad, but making myself eat 3 very small meals a day as haven't felt like food at all. Resorted to a Protein shake at lunch time today as I couldn't face any food!

The worst side effect for me so far has been the fatigue / exhaustion / brain fog. I have just felt wiped out a lot of the time. Friday night I slept for 10 hours straight and still felt really tired yesterday. Today was a bit better but had a bit of an energy crash around lunch time. Hoping they all recede as my body gets used to it. I wasn't expecting it to be honest... gastric side effects maybe, but not this exhaustion!

WombatCowgirl · 02/08/2026 19:36

It's weird isn't it @PrimalScreaming the calmness, the need to be still and passive. Couldn't resist weighing today (day 2 ) and I've lost 4lbs overnight, I know it's water weight as my ankles are less puffy but it's still encouraging 🤒. I've not wanted any wine or crisps either. What's everyone eating for breakfast? Sorry to say I used to I have a croissant while driving or just coffee and a banana 🍌

PrimalScreaming · 02/08/2026 20:18

My breakfasts are Greek Yoghurt with fruit (banana yesterday, melon today), a spoonful of toasted mixed seeds on top and a small squirt of honey.

MabelMoo23 · 02/08/2026 21:05

Hi all

can I join please? First jab is going to be tonight, I’m only 5ft and 11 stone 9 and I am really feeling pain in my knees and joints

im really scared of the nausea but need to start somewhere!!

MadameMacaron · 02/08/2026 21:16

Hello all, I’d like to join. I had my first dose on Thursday evening. I was so nervous, I watched numerous YouTube videos and kept re-reading the instructions. However, it turned out fine!

I haven’t had any gastric side effects so far luckily. However, from the following morning I noticed the usual food noise was greatly reduced. It seemed to change so quickly, it might just be me imagining it!

I am logging all my meals and trying hard to up my protein and fibre. I have dieted over many years and only focused on calories and reducing fat intake, so this all feels new to me. Hoping this reset works as I need to lose around 3 stone. Even then I will still be in overweight BMI range but that is my initial target. Good luck everyone!

Cheesecake53 · 02/08/2026 21:17

Welcome @MabelMoo23 I had no nausea and no other side effects so far (3 jabs in) hope you won't too. Felt strange after the first one, but it was just nerves.

BeverleyMakka · 02/08/2026 21:54

I’m disappointed to be honest, had my first jab yesterday morning and feel it’s done absolutely nothing😔. I’m still feeling major ‘food noise’. I’ve tried to be good with my eating but I’ve had a really miserable weekend and constantly feel hungry.

MabelMoo23 · 02/08/2026 23:18

First jab done. Had an electrolyte drink earlier to help with hydration beforehand

also ordered some dumbellls and a mat so I can do strength training- really want to give myself the best chance

Mamafromthebeach · Yesterday 01:49

Hi all - thanks for the welcome. 24 hours since first jab and all ok - no real difference except I could not sleep last night! No idea whether that is a side effect or just me. Look forward to seeing how we all get on.

chocolatecoveredpretzels · Yesterday 07:21

Hello everyone, thanks for the updates.

I keep seeing so much online about protein powders/ clear whey/ greens gummies/ collagen pouches. It kinda feels like a waste of money and that we can get protein and fibre in what we eat normally. Am I being naive?

I’m hoping to hear today that my pen is ready to collect! I’ve had a good weekend, kept my calories under 1900 each day and have done a combo of strength training and intermittent running/walking.

To all the non-school working people, have a great Monday. To the education folk, happy no-work day! 😂

As one of the non-working Monday people, thank you! I’ve had a little cheeky early weigh in as I shouldn’t have weighed until Wednesday morning. Let me know if you want the early weigh in reveal….. oh, no actually why don’t you guess? Or put what you’d be happy with at almost a full first week?
Ive ordered some supplements. Not necessarily due to the Mounjro but more to help with sleep and energy levels. I’ve got quite a lot going on personally at the minute including family breakdown, and court proceedings so I’m having a bit of an overhaul x

I’ve been having scrambled egg. I’ve also bought some protein yoghurts so some days I have, those I think we all have things we previously would be sorry to say we have eaten but going forward those changes will be made. My friend has lost well on Mounjaro and she still has days when she does eat like she used to and the odd day here and there hasn’t been an issue at all. X

I’ve been suffering really badly with sleep recently which I know is due to some of the medication I’m on as well as what’s going on in my life! So I’ve purchased a few supplements to see if that helps so let’s hope that isn’t a side effect from the Mounjaro! X

RaspberryRoad · Yesterday 09:05

Just had half an avocado and some bacon this morning for breakfast x

chocolatecoveredpretzels · Yesterday 09:09

My usual breakfast is 2 scrambled eggs with a teaspoon of marmite and sometimes a cheese triangle (I like the M&S ones but they’re CHUNKY!) and I’ve started also having a bit of fruit for fibre.

I’ve got a shopping delivery coming later and I’ve ordered 0% fat Greek yogurt, some chia seeds, honey and fruit (fresh strawberries for the start of the week, frozen raspberries and tinned peaches in juice for the end of the week) so I don’t get bored of eggs. Plus on the yogurt days, I can have boiled eggs with my lunch salad to up the protein.

@RaspberryRoad that all sounds really stressful. I hope you’re okay. You sound strong!

Are you down 2kg? Do we win a prize if we’re right? 🤣

Signing up! Did my first wegovy jab this morning, off to drag the kids round Aldi to do the big shop.
I took MJ last year and had horrific side effects, but I wasn’t eating as I should so it was on me that I had those side effects.
fingers crossed!!

I can’t eat fatty and over processed foods like bacon when I’ve recently jabbed as they usually make me feel really unwell/vomiting, so I hope you’re ok?

I’m working in pounds so I’ve just had to convert it but i’ve lost 9lb which is 4 kg! X

So after first jab last night I woke up feeling hungry this morning!!!!

had some high protein granola with Greek yogurt and strawberries. Remembered all the advice to stop when you feel full. So couldn’t finish it. I can feel it sitting in my stomach which is a bit weird and I’ve been a bit burpy (nice!!) but don’t feel sick or headachy which is good.

I had pelvic floor surgery last year so constipation is a real concern for me, so need to focus on really decent hydration

but didn’t expect to wake up feeling hungry!

RaspberryRoad · Yesterday 10:03

@MabelMoo23 yeah I have definitely felt hungry but have tried really hard to stop when I feel full which has definitely been sooner than normal. I’ve been really burping and have had banging headache.

I woke up for the first time feeling hungry today (first jabbed last Friday) I was actually quite relieved having had to force myself to eat over the weekend. I switched it up and had malted wholegrain cereal this morning... going for fibre first today and then do protein later in the day today!

How are you feeling this morning? It’s really disheartening when things don’t turn out how you think they would isn’t it? X
