Hello everyone, I'm due to start on MJ in the next few days, and I'm feeling nervous!

I've been above size 20 since I was about 14/15 years old. The highest weight I've ever logged was 134kg, about 14 years ago. I'm currently 117kg. I also have issues with my heart caused by Cushing's, type 2 diabetes and PMOS.

In the past few years, I'm yo-yo'd between 125kg and 110kg three times. I know how to lose weight and can do it... but as soon as work gets busy or stressful, I fail and give up. I also have an issue with binge and secret eating.

I went for my annual diabetic review yesterday and the nurse basically used the whole time telling me about going on MJ, because my BMI is over 40 (well, as of yesterday's weigh in, I'm 39. something) and because of my other health conditions. I didn't have to fight for it, or request it.. they're just giving it to me.

Now I'm doing as much reading/ video watching as I can to clue myself up.

On my on-track days, I eat:

Breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs with some flavouring- chilli flakes or marmite or 15g cheddar.

Lunch: Chicken thigh fillet in some kind of seasoning mix, salad made of lettuce, pepper, tomatoes, cucumber, sugarsnaps, carrot. Sometimes 3 cream crackers and a laughing cow triangle as well.

Dinner: Varies- roast chicken dinner/ 5% fat mince spaghetti bolognese with wholewheat pasta/ beef burger without the bun with cheese, salad on half the plate, usually without chips, noodles with chicken and stirfry veg.

Snacks: Usually a portion of berries/ a nectarine/ cherries/ 25g peanuts at 4pm.

How does that sound?

I have a treadmill and run/walk at 6.5/6km/hr pace for 30 mins three times a week. The nurse said I should do some weights for my arms too.

Any recommendations for which day I should inject?

@chocolatecoveredpretzels Hi, what is the resistance tube thing? Is it something easy to do at home?

chocolatecoveredpretzels · 01/08/2026 12:48

@Cheesecake53 its just a rubber tube thing with handles. I got it from Flying Tiger!

I asked ChatGPT for some suggestions on exercises I could do with it, and to show me images/ diagrams to go with it. I might get some weights too, but this was available and didn’t cost too much, so I thought it was a nice way to start.

I love that there are so many school people here! Welcome @RaspberryRoad and @WombatCowgirl

I just went to the chemist, but was only given my usual medication, so the text must have been for that. I have had a message from the doctor asking for a urine sample, but I think that’s because the nurse didn’t ask for one at my diabetic review on Weds.

For those of you who are further down the line, have you had any issues with salad/ raw veg? I’ve read that it’s harder to digest than cooked veg, but I much prefer salads.

I’m only on day three so I can’t properly answer however I can say I’ve not had any issues with anything so far, other than headache, but it’s not unbearable.x

Thank you @chocolatecoveredpretzels !

Holidays2026 · 01/08/2026 14:30

First injection this morning! I came to visit my parents and they stopped me for lunch. I had 50 grams of pasta and I already feel full.

RaspberryRoad · 01/08/2026 18:29

It’s Saturday night! What’s on everyone’s agenda?!

CatMonj · 01/08/2026 18:43

Hi everyone

My bf is on mj and has lost about 3 stone. He's up to the 7.5 dose now. To get me going I used his golden dose in week one with no side effects and lost 6lbs, then again for my second week and felt awful (together with stomach bug) and lost 4lbs.
I'm obese by bmi standards but live in NI and so GP wouldn't prescribe mj. I ordered myself through Happen as they were the best on the monj comparasion site at £103 for a 4 week supply.

I had to make up weight and height to get it and supply fake scales pic etc. I found the whole process a bit daunting. Then communication with Happen wasn't great, spoke to someone foreign on the phone who asked me to ring their suppliers which put fear in me - I just thought, am I being scammed here?!

Is this what everyone else is going through that isn't being prescribed by their local GP and is this the process every month?
I'm a complete novice, so if someone could shed some light I'd really appreciate it.

Delivery of 2.5 due on Monday - hopefully!

CatMonj · 01/08/2026 19:03

Hattermadness · 30/07/2026 19:28

Yes I am paying for it myself, ordered it earlier on and now I'm just waiting for them to check everything and confirm (hopefully!) God the photographs I had to provide were horrific 🤣

I work in a school to so it's an ideal time to start IMO!

Omg, you're so right? The photos!!

ReneBallard · 01/08/2026 19:09

@RaspberryRoad husband is making a really healthy Vietnamese chicken dish. I’m hoping the chicken is enough protein. Might have some berries with high protein yoghurt for “pudding” and a cup of tea! A “normal” Saturday night would usually consist of starting on the G&T’s at around 530, sharing crisps with DH and the kids and then almost a bottle of wine, lardy dinner and a magnum. We are going to continue watching Bosch (rewatching) and then I’m aiming for an early night. What does your Saturday evening look like?

@CatMonj welcome! Ive gone through GP as I live in Channel Islands so likely v difficult to get shipped here. I was BMI 28 but have high blood pressure so qualified. Hopefully someone from NI on here who can give some relevant advice x

WombatCowgirl · 01/08/2026 19:32

I jabbed before lunch and it's been extraordinary how quickly it's made a difference. I went to a lovely supermarket in the afternoon and walked around totally aware that there was the bakery, the deli meats, the wine.....but literally no temptation! I've had 1000 good calories, lots of yoghurt and berries too. I feel weirdly cold but that's my only side effect so far (fingers crossed though).

CatMonj · 01/08/2026 19:52

@RaspberryRoadsitting in having a glass of wine

RaspberryRoad · 01/08/2026 20:10

@ReneBallard that sounds like a lovely Saturday evening and the Vietnamese chicken sounds absolutely delicious.
I’ve had some salmon and salad, which was really tasty but not an average Saturday night tea. I might have a protein yogurt later! The twins are in bed and it’s just me and them at home so I’m looking forward to watching Casualty!

salmon is so good well done! I haven’t seen casualty in years but have fond memories - enjoy! Oh my gosh twins, no idea how you cope!

@CatMonj envious of the wine!!! Enjoy

RaspberryRoad · 01/08/2026 20:25

I love Casualty, it’s one of the only things I watch in real time and a lot of it is like you say the memories!

I've read elsewhere that to reduce side effects you can jab on the flabby part of your under arm or on your thigh. I did thigh following my awful second dose experience using my bf's 7.5 golden dose. This time I only took half of his golden dose instead of the whole thing and and put it in my thigh and have had no side effects thankfully. The first delivery of my own 2.5 mg arrives on Monday so looking forward to seeing what a proper dose is actually like for me.

RaspberryRoad · 01/08/2026 20:39

@ReneBallard I’ve just looked and Casualtys not even on tonight gutted!

RaspberryRoad · 01/08/2026 20:41

@CatMonj I bought mine through MedExpress and it came two days later. No issues other than having to take the ridiculous photographs of my full body! But no scale pics needed

My first pic in pj's was declined so sent one in underwear which was approved. I used chat gpt to generate a pic of female legs standing on scales reading the weight I wanted to show - crazy

KrazyKatty · 01/08/2026 20:51

@CatMonj I’m in Ireland and get mine from McKeevers chemists and they post it down to me via DPD. However, I do have a prescription from my GP so I only pay them for the medication.

Mamafromthebeach · 01/08/2026 22:22

Hi there - can I please join you all? Started today ( am in Australia). I was on Wegovy for 9 months or so until March this year and lost 10kg. I went off as my weight loss plateaued and I had awful gastro side effects at higher doses. My weight has remained stable but I have around 20kg to go - plus my joint pain has flared again. So my GP wants me to give Mounjaro a try. Started today. Good luck to us all :)

chocolatecoveredpretzels · 01/08/2026 22:43

Lovely to hear about people’s Saturdays. I’m jealous of all of you who have started and now I’m itching to get my pen!

Weirdly, though, I’m already feeling so much more in control of my diet and exercise. I did a proper supermarket shop today and avoided buying anything that would normally have set me off on a binge, and instead got healthy whole foods and stuff for protein-focused meals. It’s like the idea of mounjaro has helped my willpower!

@Mamafromthebeach i hope it goes well for you! I wonder whether MJ will feel different to Wegovy for you. You’ll have to keep us updated!

Anseranser · 01/08/2026 22:52

Hello everyone, can I join? I haven't started any kind of ordering pens or anything yet, but the decision to do so has been made and that feels like a big thing in itself.

I've somehow managed to get to the point where I need to lose 30kg (ideally 40kg, but I'm trying to be realistic). My main problem is too-large portions, too many snacks, and not enough exercise: I'm hoping that with a bit of help the exercise will be more appealing (and easier, with less bulk to move around!). Aside from the quantity and the snacks I think what I eat for meals is not too bad. DH is v supportive so that's lovely. The children go to swimming several times a week, and we're going to try to go to the gym while they're there at least once each week.

It's a pretty scary thing to start WLI, but now I've been brave enough to talk to DH and make a plan, I'm feeling better about it. Hopefully ordering and delivery won't take too long!

Anseranser · 01/08/2026 23:10

Oh, thank you! That makes picking a pharmacy easier 😂

Cheesecake53 · Yesterday 14:49

Welcome @Anseranser ! WLI are such a game changer. It is with them so easy to make good choices. I also have very much to lose.
