Hello everyone, I'm due to start on MJ in the next few days, and I'm feeling nervous!

I've been above size 20 since I was about 14/15 years old. The highest weight I've ever logged was 134kg, about 14 years ago. I'm currently 117kg. I also have issues with my heart caused by Cushing's, type 2 diabetes and PMOS.

In the past few years, I'm yo-yo'd between 125kg and 110kg three times. I know how to lose weight and can do it... but as soon as work gets busy or stressful, I fail and give up. I also have an issue with binge and secret eating.

I went for my annual diabetic review yesterday and the nurse basically used the whole time telling me about going on MJ, because my BMI is over 40 (well, as of yesterday's weigh in, I'm 39. something) and because of my other health conditions. I didn't have to fight for it, or request it.. they're just giving it to me.

Now I'm doing as much reading/ video watching as I can to clue myself up.

On my on-track days, I eat:

Breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs with some flavouring- chilli flakes or marmite or 15g cheddar.

Lunch: Chicken thigh fillet in some kind of seasoning mix, salad made of lettuce, pepper, tomatoes, cucumber, sugarsnaps, carrot. Sometimes 3 cream crackers and a laughing cow triangle as well.

Dinner: Varies- roast chicken dinner/ 5% fat mince spaghetti bolognese with wholewheat pasta/ beef burger without the bun with cheese, salad on half the plate, usually without chips, noodles with chicken and stirfry veg.

Snacks: Usually a portion of berries/ a nectarine/ cherries/ 25g peanuts at 4pm.

How does that sound?

I have a treadmill and run/walk at 6.5/6km/hr pace for 30 mins three times a week. The nurse said I should do some weights for my arms too.

Any recommendations for which day I should inject?

Hi everyone, am I allowed to join all you lovely ladies?

I secretly took my first dose last week and am due to take my second dose tomorrow.. It's been an odd week in that I genuinely didn't expect the appetite suppression to start so quickly. Everyone around me says I don't need to lose weight and I look "fine" but at 5'3 and with chronic hypertension at just 35 I really, really need to do something about it now.

SW 163 lbs
GW 130 lbs
CW 156 lbs

Aware that such a big loss in week one is almost definitely water weight but do need to keep an eye on actually eating enough because genuinely just not interested in food at all.

Hattermadness · 04/08/2026 13:39

Has anyone ordered their jabs through phlo? I ordered mine on Thursday afternoon, so didn't get reviewed til yesterday morning, and they've just been dispatched today 🙄 I know I'm being impatient but I just want to start already!
Will my next order take as long or will it be quicker as ive already been approved once, do you think?
Good luck everyone!

That’s a great start - congratulations on the weight loss!

WombatCowgirl · 04/08/2026 14:02

Whoops I've also just bought chia seeds but I've eaten them mixed into yoghurt and strawberries, but unsoaked!

Ladidahdi · 04/08/2026 14:25

I put 5g of chia seeds into overnight oats, they don’t need soaking then x

chocolatecoveredpretzels · 04/08/2026 15:07

Well, I’ve got my pen and sharps bin… but no needles! The chemist said I need to buy them but I’m not sure that’s right. On hold with my doctor now.

RaspberryRoad · 04/08/2026 15:49

@chocolatecoveredpretzels that doesn’t sound right to me x

ReneBallard · 04/08/2026 16:36

I had the buy the needles from the pharmacy via prescription

chocolatecoveredpretzels · 04/08/2026 16:59

Thanks Rene. I’m being prescribed the mounjaro by the doctor due to my BMI being over 30, type 2 diabetic and a heart condition. I would have thought the needles would be included on the prescription.

The receptionist has passed the info on to my doctor, so I’m waiting to hear back.

I made a soy, garlic and honey beef thing for dinner last night and it was gorgeous. Just lean beef mince, veggies (peppers, garlic, ginger and onions, peas added towards to end) with a tablespoon on light soy, teaspoon of honey, tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce and a cornflour slurry, added in the last five mins of cooking. From 250g beef, it was plenty for two meals. I had it over a jacket potato yesterday, and mixed into salad for lunch today.

Just finished a 45 min intermittent run/walk at 7.5/ 6km/hr pace which watching telly.

How is everyone doing? I’m feeling frustrated that the pen is in my fridge but I can’t take it! But I’m meeting friends for dinner on Thursday and a lunch thing on Saturday, so probably best to wait!

That’s ok. Just drink lots of water and they will swell in your stomach. I just prefer the soaked version.

BeverleyMakka · 04/08/2026 18:10

@chocolatecoveredpretzels that beef recipe sounds Lovely, it’s going on my ideas list!
I’m getting it on the NHS for diabetes and was given a box of 100 needles with my first prescription.

ReneBallard · 04/08/2026 18:16

@chocolatecoveredpretzels ah fair enough then yes, I’d have thought they’d be included!!

beef thingie sounds awesome!

went to supermarket before and can honestly say I wasn’t bothered by the ice creams, sticky buns, sweets or chocolate. Ordinarily, going in for one thing, I’d come out with at least something sweet. It’s totally bizarre!

chocolatecoveredpretzels · 04/08/2026 18:31

@BeverleyMakka thank you! That’s really good to know. I expect it should be the same for me, then.

@ReneBallard that’s a big shift for your mindset! Are you feeling proud?

ReneBallard · 04/08/2026 19:04

@chocolatecoveredpretzels as long as it continues 😂I am kinda tempted by a glass of wine tonight but doctor said that his patients who suffer most nausea are those who carry on drinking and I am waking up with nausea at present (which goes once I eat). Mind you, he may have said this to discourage drinking and thereby boost weight loss!

Ladidahdi · 04/08/2026 20:14

I jabbed my first dose on Monday, taking the kids on a day out to a farm tomorrow, have prepped some cooked chicken and boiled potatoes with a yoghurt and chive dressing.
have been feeling exhausted today but not sure if that’s the meds or the kids to be honest!

Mamafromthebeach · 04/08/2026 21:41

Hi all! Great to see some new joiners!

Slightly improved sleep last night - will try to keep up the magnesium. Otherwise all is ok - I am feeling suppression of appetite but it is subtle. I was hungry for dinner last night (chicken skewers, salad and rice) and had a normal serve. But I ate about 2/3 and didn’t want any more. DH had bought a tub of ice cream for dessert but I honestly didn’t want it - had a few strawberries later instead.

@WombatCowgirl i have chia seeds on yoghurt most days - I don’t soak them. I saw a dietician on Insta last night mix a tablespoon into her scrambled eggs - I don’t think it matters if you soak or not. Just start out with a small amount to see how you go. Honestly when I was on Wegovy last year the only thing that helped was a daily scoop of Movical/Osmolax ( not sure what you would call on the UK). Too much fibre once I was already blocked up made me feel worse.

@chocolatecoveredpretzels that is rubbish they didn’t give you needles. My pharmacy gave me a bag of them when I filled my script and just told me to ask when I needed more. Sounds like you are doing well anyway!

MiaN · 05/08/2026 05:09

Can I join? I have gp follow up next week and I hope I will be starting next week.

Hello everyone! Someone recommended this thread of the back end of one of mine yesterday seeking reassurance and positivity for doing my first Mounjaro jab. It was my First jab yesterday around 8pm, I was so anxious, trying to find excuses to put off doing it but I somehow just done it! Nausea this morning and trapped wind sensation but nothing bad enough to send me to A&E in a panic! (I have health anxiety so this is a huge deal for me to have overcome!). No doubt I I’ll be posting here frequently as this will help me with my journey. Good luck to everyone that has started this month! X

WombatCowgirl · 05/08/2026 10:27

Hope you slept well @Mamafromthebeach I've found it's got better each night. Day 5 for me and the visible puffiness has all gone from my face and ankles, my legs feel lighter and my shoes are bigger and I'm not rammed into the bath like an egg 🥚 in an egg cup, it's brilliant!

Well done. I know how hard the first one is to do. I also have health anxiety and took a while to even order it. Then put off doing the injection. Now I have to prepare myself for the second one 😂 I’m sure after the second one I will be more relaxed.

I’ve only been taking it since Friday and noticed positive changes already.

chocolatecoveredpretzels · 05/08/2026 11:35

Welcome @MiaN and @Biosblbay !

Happy Wednesday and may the odds be ever in your favour for those doing Wednesday Weigh-Day!

I’m loving the slightly cooler but still sunny weather today!

I am having a massive panic attack and I am so scared it’s the mounjaro and not a panic attack. I feel like I can’t breathe, I feel sick, my face feels numb and tingly. I really hate this! I don’t think it was worth it. Please help

SilenceInside · 05/08/2026 12:32

@Biosblbay It will be a panic attack, because you're anxious about the new medication.

Can you think about the reasons why you decided that you wanted to try medicated weight loss? What's your starting BMI and how much weight do you want to lose? Or is there a weight related health condition that you're hoping to improve?

Biosblbay · 05/08/2026 12:43

@SilenceInside I feel slightly better, but my issues is if I feel the slightest sensation I panic! It started with my face tingling and the feeling of my throat closing up, which are sensations of a panic attack but my issue is I am relating it all to the mounjaro. My bmi is 38 so I am overweight, I have lost so much confidence in myself and want to improve my energy levels for my children and be more active! It took a lot of encouragement for me to take it, wasn’t an easy decision.

i am also having my contraceptive implant fitted today which I don’t think is helping the situation either coupled with no sleep! But the panic attack has passed now, but just waiting for the next one! X

CatMonj · 05/08/2026 14:09

I'm not due for another jab until Friday and feel I've been eating very light, but yet upon weighing it looks like I've only lost 1lb since last week which is a bit disappointing. Hoping for some advice from you lovely lot. I feel really bloated and had constipation.

I'm doing intermittent fasting and having 2 meals a day ie.

1pm - Strawberries, blueberries, 0% Greek yoghurt & honey

6pm - ie chicken fajitas, chilli & baked popotato

As well as -
Collagen coffee
Normal coffee
Tea
Loss of water
Pure orange (for the constipation)

Not doing any expotexeexercise yet
