I’ve finally taken the plunge and just ordered Wegovy from Asda pharmacy. All been well it should be ready for collection on Tuesday so it would be great to hear from anyone else who has just started or is about start their WLI/Weygovy journey.
I’m very nervous and haven’t told anyone, but I’ve just failed at my 3rd diet attempt this year and feeling horribly self-conscious about my weight and dreading the summer so just thought fuck it, I’m going to give it a go.

Just taken my first jab after some messing about with getting a pen.

Like you @lechatnoir failed attempts before so what harm can this do?! I chose wg after reading a BHF article about how it helps people with heart / circulatory issues which I do have. Having logged my start weight in mfp, I see I first downloaded this 6 years and 12kg lighter ago. What a mess!

I have a stone more than you to lose though. Looks like we're going to be keeping each other company for a while!

Thanks for starting a Wegovy starters thread @lechatnoir

I did my second Wegovy jab yesterday - no real side effects so far but no weight loss either, but I had a fairly big eating week so not surprised!

I am finding it easier to resist snacks but that could be all in my head.

I decided to start with Wegovy because I have pre-diabetes and high cholesterol. My current weight is 12 stone 13 - the scales only seem to be going in one direction and I desperately want to change that.

itsallabouttobegin · 12/04/2026 11:06

Hi all I’ve just done my first wegovy jab this morning my weight has fluctuated my whole adult life. If I’m on it and actively dieting/exercising I can lose weight but hate having to constantly plan/think about what I’m eating and fall back into lazy habits. I’m now at my heaviest and have been for years with no effort to lose it. But I want to be healthier. My knees are wrecked and I feel like I’m dragging my body around. I don’t want to have to factor my weight into what activities I do with the kids and worry about whether I’ll fit on rides at a theme park 😫

Starting weight 16st 6.4 BMI 40.1
Im happy and feel fit and healthy at 11 7 - 12 stone so thats what I’m aiming for.

Very nervous and hope to feel the difference in appetite straight away so I don’t lose hope. Are you planning at actively calorie count? I’m hoping to just reduce portions/make good choices and not have to track but will see if that’s effective. It feel more habit changing than committing to tracking calories forever.

jabsahoy · 12/04/2026 11:33

welcome too to @hoodiemassive and @itsallabouttobegin !

Am hoping to just cut back but will be tracking as my portion control is an issue. That and the constant wfh snacking. And weekend binge drinking (scarily easy to down 4 or 5 pints in an evening when dp and I meet up).

Had quite a modest breakfast and now at kids sports training with a rumbling gut so definitely no suppression yet!

lechatnoir · 12/04/2026 11:40

I had to send over waist measurements and photos yesterday so still waiting for approval which is frustrating.

id really like not to track everything so going to try a few weeks just upping my protein, dropping some of the carbs and hopefully not constantly /mindlessly snacking which is my downfall. If that doesn’t shift it I’ll use MFP and track calories.

OP posts:
lechatnoir · 12/04/2026 11:43

Are you exercising? I really need to motivate myself back to the gym - I started a couple of months ago and got into a good twice a week routine but then pulled a muscle & haven’t been back since. I know strength training and protein are key to good weight loss results and muscle tone.

OP posts:
RaelImperialAerosolKid · 12/04/2026 11:48

I took my first injection this week - I feel really positive about this. I’m not tracking food because I become too obsessed- just smaller portions and sensible choices.

itsallabouttobegin · 12/04/2026 11:57

I usually start with swimming and build up from there but can’t swim at the moment with my knee. I’m just going to try to be more active and aim for over 10000 steps a day. My challenge is working 12 hour night shifts 3 nights per week at home. I barely move for the 12 hours 😫 we do have a walking pad so may try to do that in my breaks.

I tried med express first and they wouldn’t prescribe to me but can’t get an answer as to why. No pre existing medical conditions or family history, I am on HRT patches but pretty sure they hadn’t even asked had question and there is no issue with patches acs wegovy. Went to next best offer price IQ doctors and no problem 🤷‍♀️ I’ve had 3 responses from medexpress and still no clearer as just standard replies

hoodiemassive · 12/04/2026 14:14

I have been swimming 4-5 times a week since December and managed to put on weight in that time ha ha!

I dropped a 1lb in the first week - nothing to shout about but pleased the scales show a loss however tiny.

I’ve just been to the shops and only managed one of the pick and mix sweets I bought which is a first for me. Now to get to the part where I don’t buy them at all 😂

Hope everything’s going well for you all and no side effects!

Tsulsaquoola · 12/04/2026 19:06

@hoodiemassive

Thanks for pointing me in the direction of this thread. I’ll c&p what I wrote on another one here:

My 0.25 Wegovy pen is in the post and I plan to start Friday as I have a day off. I’m 56, post menopausal, and I’ve never weighed this much - I’ve battled with my weight my entire adult life and feel like I’ve tried everything. I always put the weight back on. I’ve just tipped over from overweight to obese - my BMI is 30 - and I thought enough is enough. I also have high cholesterol and a strong family history of heart disease and stroke. At some point I think I stopped wanting to lose weight for vanity reasons (though I can’t deny I’d love to be able to fit in my clothes again) and into wanting to lose weight because I’m frightened I’m going to die prematurely or have an extremely unhealthy old age.
l am, however, scared to death: side effects; that I’ll stop enjoying food (I like cooking and I like cooking for other people); that l’ll have to stay on it for life or, conversely, come off it and I’ll put all the weight back on.
I’ve only told my dh and he’s very supportive but I’m still feeling really worried. I do have a tendency to overthink, you may have noticed 🤣

lechatnoir · 12/04/2026 20:46

Welcome all. Bit of a setback as Asda have refuse me as my BMI is under 30 (& I suspect my waist measurement did t help as whilst not small, isn’t too bad compared to the rest of me!) I’m waiting for a juniper assessment and round 1 suggests I’ll be accepted but won’t get my pen until earliest Wednesday which is frustrating now I’ve psyched myself up to start early in the week.

OP posts:
HRTnewbie · 13/04/2026 09:12

Thats really annoying. I tried asda last year and they turned me down. This year I weigh more and was approved with juniper.

I know there have to be rules, but I have a health condition, and was struggling to exercise and loose weight which was making my health condition worse. Anyway... first injection on saturday. I was expecting nothing as I didnt think the first dose is therapeutic, but there is no question an effect.

I didn't snack yesterday, at all (realised how much i am snacking and how this has to be a change). Lunch cottage cheese, veg and small piece of olive bread and totally stuffed. Dinner very small roast.

Was thinking this wouldn't work for me but feeling hopeful. Good luck @lechatnoir fingers crossed for good news.

How is everyone else feeling?

OrianaBanana · 13/04/2026 09:37

Glad I found this thread! I’m about to complete my first week. I feel vaguely sick a lot of the time which helps with not snacking!

jabsahoy · 13/04/2026 10:12

@lechatnoir how annoying, fingers crossed you can find somewhere to approve you.

@HRTnewbie interesting you say about snacking as I now realise I didn't yesterday but the true test will be my wfh days as they are my nemesis. So far so good but it is only 10am! Could this actually work??

itsallabouttobegin · 13/04/2026 11:42

I found I was felt a little hungry and thought about food all day yesterday on my first day. Probably not helped by spending the afternoon sorting through my cook books and planning weekly shop. I did feel fuller more quickly when eating but went to bed mildly hungry. I didn’t snack at all and had smaller portions at meals. I’ve got a headache today and only just starting to feel hungry now despite spending the morning making cornflake cakes and chocolate coins with the kids.

I hope you get sorted @lechatnoirits frustrating to have made the leap and then be held back

hoodiemassive · 13/04/2026 15:21

I’ve found the jab helps me to avoid snacking too. I also feel a bit fuller after meals. Very bored currently as am off with my teens for the Easter hols and they are so boring…all they do is game and eat!

The weather is nice today and I wish they were little again so we could go out and enjoy it together.

lechatnoir · 13/04/2026 17:29

Just got my Voy approval email so hoping I’ll be starting in a couple of days. It really can’t come soon enough - I’m not even hungry but just eaten 2 pieces of toast and half a packet of biscuits ShockSad

OP posts:
itsallabouttobegin · 13/04/2026 19:34

I’ve just been for a carvery 🤦‍♀️ but only had some meat, 1.5 roasties, half my Yorkshire and lots of veg. I’d have easily had a plate of potatoes before! I’ve only had 2 bagel thins all day so think overall that’s not too bad. Will be easier when kids back in school next week and less socialising. That’s good news @lechatnoir

HRTnewbie · 14/04/2026 06:35

How much do you think we should be eating? I went to bed hungry and have woken up hungry today. I dont want to crash and burn... but want long term chnage. Yesterday I has a chicken salad at lunch and an omelette. Both felt fine... but wonder if i needed something small before bed?

lechatnoir · 14/04/2026 08:30

That doesn’t sound much @HRTnewbieand ignoring the calories, unless you had a whole chicken or massive omelette you’re going to be falling well short of the recommended protein. Maybe look at adding a protein heavy snack at some point - Greek yogurt is a good one.

OP posts:
itsallabouttobegin · 14/04/2026 17:06

It’s definitely working 😀 didn’t have time for breakfast took kids swimming and then to McDonald’s with friends. I was hungry but still able to just get a drink and wait until I got home for my lunch. Planning a nice steak dinner tonight and looking forward to it

ClosedCircle · 15/04/2026 06:07

I'm due my second jab on Saturday. Luckily I've not really had any side effects apart from a few headaches.
I've been drinking a lot more water, focusing on eating protein and fruit/veg and just generally eating less. I've noticed a real difference in my appetite and general interest in food. I've definitely still been getting hungry, as well as having some sugar cravings (my biggest downfall with losing weight has always been sugar), but I feel more able to ignore those cravings than any time I've ever dieted before. I also feel like I can make better choices with food as my body seems to be actually telling me it wants the good stuff.
I'm hoping to lose 2.5 stone overall, hopefully I see the scales go down on Saturday morning when I weigh myself again 🤞

HRTnewbie · 15/04/2026 07:36

Ive found the effect wore off from the lowest (not therapeutic dose) quickly. I was back to normal yesterday. So just trying to focus on a good diet with the hope Saturday's dose starts the suppression again. Still hopeful this will work as it had an effect for me!

RaelImperialAerosolKid · 15/04/2026 08:59

Just taken my second dose - lost 7lbs last week and feel I have more energy and motivation.

hoodiemassive · 15/04/2026 09:30

@RaelImperialAerosolKid that’s an amazing start for you, wow!

I am finding it slow going - two weeks in, next jab on Saturday, feeling some appetite suppression but looking forward to ordering my 0.5 dose today.

Had hoped to be a super responder but it hasn’t worked out that way!
