I agree I would get some new scales. Renpho smart scales are on Amazon for £24 and there is a 10% off as well if you have Prime.

Rubytoes · 10/02/2026 11:33

Thanks for starting the new thread!

I took my golden dose today with a syringe, had to watch a Youtube video to get my head around it but I think it went OK (bit more painful with the longer needle).

I've lost 13lb in 6 weeks, which feels a bit slow compared to others but I know I'm eating better/less and that's just how my body is responding. I've got coursework deadlines this week and have had to cancel a gym class and not sure I'll have much time for other exercise.

I've just ordered my next pen from a new provider, although I've still got 3 more doses left in current pen. Moved up from 2.5 to 5mg. I had been lazy with my second pen and didn't switch provider but the prices go up with higher doses and I can't justify not shopping around, though it's quite a faff to do more photos etc.

I weighed myself again today as I wasn't happy with the result of my weekly weigh-in yesterday 😂

Down 0.8lb from yesterday which I think shows that Monday probably isn't a good day for me to weigh as Sunday is a very active day and my body swells up a bit with inflammation and retains water as a result.

From today's numbers, I'm half a pound away from 10lbs in just over 4 weeks which is great in itself, but I can also see and feel the difference already. I don't want to be checking my weight every day as I know that tends to break me when things stop moving as quickly or go up a bit, but I might switch to either Tuesday or Wednesday for weighing, and stick to Monday for jabbing.

Perimenoanti · 10/02/2026 15:39

@CatNoBag yep, Monday weigh ins do not count 😂

Perimenoanti · 10/02/2026 15:43

Lots of discipline is required of me today. Not excessively hungry, but huuuuge appetite. I follow a weightloss coach on tiktok. She says you have to put systems in place. She says that if you feel like overeating ask yourself whether you want to be disappointed now because you say no to yourself or whether you want to be disappointed later on the scales.

So I am trying very hard to be disappointed now because it is not worth the 5 seconds of satisfaction if I overeat now.

I think what's helping me is that normally when I diet I'll sneak in a few treats from quite early on, justifying them with exercise etc. In the first few weeks on MJ, I wasn't really interested in what normally lures me in (chocolate and bakeries and cheese), and now that I haven't had anything sweet for over a month, the craving is a lot less anyway, plus I'm on a streak and don't want to break it! I didn't start on 1st January, but I haven't had any alcohol since around the 5th (I don't drink much anyway, so this isn't a huge change for me), and no chocolate or pastries since my first jab. Normally I'd ALWAYS stop off at the bakery on my way back from parkrun, but so far I'm holding steady!

Well done! I do have some sweet treats, that is not the issue. The issue is eating the whole bag or bar.

I was laughing these days about my previous dieting attempts. I sometimes convinced myself that fruit and veg do not count, so in my mind they had zero calories. Obv they weren't the reason I failed, but it's just bonkers what we sometimes tell ourselves just so we can eat more.

Countdown to dinner is on 😂It will be chicken breast, with egg noddles and I might throw in a carrot as well.

FrothyCothy · 10/02/2026 17:20

Dinner last night was basically a big plate of chicken 😆 (with some leeks and courgette and quark to make a kind of sauce). Very nice but very carnivorous considering I’ve eaten 95% vegetarian for 15 years. It’s just such good “value” in terms of calories and satiety versus the alternatives.

Tonight is stir fry which we’ve gone back to after a long break as again, maximum food value for relatively low calories. I should go to the gym too though am knackered!

whiteandblackfluffycat · 10/02/2026 19:33

I’m vegetarian and finding the vegetarian protein sources satisfying, I had a lentil cottage pie tonight for under 250 calories, which was very filling! And lunch was two scrambled eggs with some salad, also enough for me. It’s how I’m keeping my calories are so low; I’m not feeling deprived in any way and I can’t imagine eating more than I am. And I still have plenty of energy to exercise twice a day.

cautiouslyoptimistic3 · 10/02/2026 19:45

Jab day was yesterday and I jabbed on the left side of my tummy - previous weeks have been to the right. Finding today that suppression isn’t as high -not massively but I have definitely eaten more for dinner when previous weeks especially the day after the jab I wouldn’t be able to manage that. Has anybody found different levels of suppression depending on where you jab.

whiteandblackfluffycat · 10/02/2026 19:51

I alternate sides of my stomach every week and find the suppression the same with both.

However, I did have weeks of very high suppression on 2.5 and then it waned slightly in my final week. I googled and this is common with 2.5 MJ as it’s just a loading dose, so could this be a factor (I don’t know what dose you’re on)?

cautiouslyoptimistic3 · 10/02/2026 19:56

@whiteandblackfluffycat I am on the 2.5mg dose and this was my 3rd jab so early days. Had been planning on staying on the 2.5 as the suppression was working but will monitor over next week or so.

I had very little suppression on left side both times I’ve done it … thinking of alternating between upper and lower right side. Too scared to try thigh incase the suppression is rubbish there too 😂

Google says it’s common to feel suppression fading by the third or fourth week of 2.5.

My suppression went down quite a bit in the third week.

cautiouslyoptimistic3 · 10/02/2026 20:28

Thanks for sharing your experiences. I am going to see how it goes this week and possibly after jab next Monday, although will need to time my next order too.

I'm three weeks on 5mg, I haven't had a single bit of suppression 😫😫 makes me wonder why I'm bothering

cautiouslyoptimistic3 · 10/02/2026 20:30

@namnamnam22the thigh is often recommended I think when somebody is having strong side effects

cautiouslyoptimistic3 · 10/02/2026 20:38

@notcomfortablesorry to hear that. I hope it kicks in soon for you. Are you seeing any changes at all otherwise? What’s your plan for the next jab?

cravingmilkshake · 10/02/2026 20:44

I did second jab of 5mg last week (Thursday) and it’s our anniversary tonight - we got a bottle of fizz , had a glass each . Starter , main, side and dessert from Waitrose .

I could only manage a 3 doughballs and Camembert from the starter . We decided to have the rest another night !

I’ve basically maintained for a week (was a week of a few drinks with the rugby and indulgence . Back to it tomorrow .

just recorded my next dose and forested up to 7.5mg so am interested how that might go . .

hope you’re all doing well-? I’ll do my stats at the end of Feb . X

ThisAmusedPoet · 10/02/2026 21:17

Oof, I thought I’d been doing so well on the side effects front but tonight and last night I’ve been hit by a wave of nausea and a terrible headache at like 8pm. I tried to be more on top of hydration/electrolytes today but hasn’t helped. Also doesn’t help that I use my evenings to work after looking after my 2 under 3 and I can’t bear to look at my laptop!

next 5mg jab is tomorrow and hoping my body starts adapting soon.

AnonymousAnnie55 · 11/02/2026 00:04

I posted in the previous thread but will do an update here. I’ve messed up in my mind due to using two different scales, my original scales said I lost more, but my new body composition scales tell me lots more about my losses or just my body in general! So trying to stick to those…

5’10
SW - 13.7 (21.1.26)
GW - 11 or possibly less if I ever get there
CW 12.2 (today 10.2.26)

I just did my 4th jab of MJ 2.5 tonight and I had awful symptoms very early on in week 1-2, I had taken a fybogel sachet too which I’m sure contributed… I was so poorly and thought I’d have to give up! But then I overcame the symptoms and have been writing everything I’ve eaten and had to drink, my list in notes is as long as my leg, but it’s nice to see I’m staying on track. I did have a sneaky 5 choc buttons the other night, which were so good! But I am cutting out the cr*p as best I can. No crisps since 21.1.26! They are my downfall.

I do feel exhausted and although I could put it down to massive change in diet, I did previously always feel tired, I’m on levothyroxine too so could be to do with thyroid…

I have bought weights and did some lifting the other morning - I felt like a lemon in my living room doing them, but my arms ached the next day so I obviously did something right - I think!

I want to do the golden dose on the weekend, then have another 2.5 pen… I’ve paid an obscene amount already, so need to shop around but I’m worried I now may not be accepted anywhere due to weight I’ve lost? Any tips?

MrTiddlesTheCat · 11/02/2026 05:08

According to my random number generator I'm 118.6 kg this week. That's a massive 4.8 kg (10.5 lb) loss.

SW: 129.4 kg
CW: 118.6 kg
Total loss: 10.8 kg

Week 6 injection of 2.5 mg today.

Tryingagainfor2026 · 11/02/2026 05:34

SW: 78.3kg 1st MJ
Wk 2: 74.65 (-3.65kg)
Wk 3: 72.95 (-1.7kg)
Wk 4: no scales where I was
Wk 5: 70.10 (equivalent of 1.4kg each week)
total loss: 8.2kg/18lb

GW: 57-60kg

I made the decision to stay on 2.5.
It’s been doing the job well and so I figured it made sense to. But the last 2 days I’ve had cravings come back. After a month of them having totally disappeared it felt like a really unpleasant neighbour appearing banging on the door.. I thought ‘oh no, the 2.5 has stopped working just 2 days into my 1st dose with this pen’. But it seems to have settled again now.

Bar the shift in the scales, my rings now fit me properly which feels good.

Im kind of losing motivation now though. I’ve been so so strict though, but maybe it’s ok to just ease off for a week. It’s not the end of the world if I have a week where I just maintain.

I have 2 questions;

  • I’d like to change provider as I’m sure I can get my next dose cheaper. But I’m now a tiny mark off the top end of a normal BMI - will that make it impossible?

• at first I felt very positive on MJ- maybe it was the buzz of doing so well at cutting down calories etc and seeing drops on the scales. But this week my mood has really plummeted. And I can’t tie it to my cycle. Something sad has happened in my life but I find myself in tears all the time. I can’t work out if it’s linked to MJ at all. Does anyone relate?

Onbdy · 11/02/2026 07:39

Interesting reading about side effects and jab locations. I get stronger suppression but more side effects after jabbing on the right side.
I’m due to jab on Friday but was thinking of taking my final dose of 2.5 on the following Monday and moving up to 5mg next Friday? Has anyone done this?
