Hi, my first WG pen is in the fridge ready to start on 1st January.

Im 56 (57 in Feb) post menopausal and cancer survivor in remission 5 years nearly. still taking cancer prevention medication that I believe that is hindering my weight loss. I just can't seem to lose it no matter how much I try. It took me 5 months to lose 10lb earlier on in the year.

Im 5' 8" so carry my extra weight well.
CW 13stone
TW 11 stone

Whose joining me on this weight loss journey?

First jab finally done. I didn’t expect it to be delivered so quickly so was planning to start next week. But I’m glad to have begun the journey. I am worried about side effects as I tend to have a sensitive digestive system. Will see how it plays out this week.

Posting stats to keep myself accountable
Starting weight 13lb 6
Height 5 ft 2
BMI 34
Goal weight??? Due to my height, my healthy BMI would mean weighing under 8 stone! So I am going to try to lose and then assess where I feel is comfortable and realistic given I’m peri-menopausal and love food!

Same height as me and I agree about the BMI. I am not aiming to get to 9st 10 or whatever it is that the supposed healthy BMI of 24 is for 5ft 2. I’d look ill at that weight given the fact I’m in my 50s with huge boobs. I got down to that weight about 10 years ago and it was too small for me. I reckon I’ll be happy around 10 stones to 10 and a half stones but it’s early days and at the moment I’m just adjusting to lifestyle changes.

bookwormcrazy · 17/01/2026 18:33

I am starting to feel a bit despondent. I am due my 3rd jab in 2 days and while I lost 3 lbs in the first week - you could argue that it was from starting to eat better after Christmas crap. This week I keep gaining and losing the same lb so I am still the same.
I have been lucky that I don’t think i’ve had much side effects but I also don’t seem to have had much appetite suppression and the food noise is there although I have been making better and healthier choices with less snacking.
It’s amazing seeing everyone losing so much weight but it doesn’t really seem the case for me at the minute. I was hoping to stay on 2.5 for as long as possible but I think I am going to have to order the next size up pen to see if that helps at all. Maybe that’s why I don’t have much in the way of side effects because the 2.5 is not enough.

goldylock · 17/01/2026 18:36

Had a 1/2 bottle of a lovely cab sav and stayed over at my friend's. Had 4 choccies from a Cadbury box and a handful of pringles.

Felt fine. This morning she very graciously cooked breakfast, which was 2 small slices of toast, 1 egg white and 2 Rashers, and coffee.

I had things to do and then later in the afternoon went to the gym.

I haven't eaten anything else. That's woefully low calories...I need to do better.

Got a big shop for the week on the way home and I can't face cooking anything. The only thing calling my name is a bowl of coco pops...

I will do better tomo.

I ate half a chocolate bar today. HTH 😘

Octagoneaway · 17/01/2026 18:59

I had my 3rd jab on Thurs and noticing next to no suppression of appetite this week. I didn’t have much before, but this week is noticeably worse. Although I’m still trying hard to keep my calories in check. I’m glad that there’s only one more until I can increase the dose (although I’ll have to delay that for a few days due to work issues🙄).

To be quite honest, I feel the same
I feel exactly the same before I took mj. I am absolutely starving, despite having way more protein these days than at Christmas
I have lost 2kg but its through sheer willpower. None of which I have which is how I have ended up in this situation. Food noise is 10000000% switched on as is just feeling absolutely starving.
I have no will power to deny myself the treats. Feeling deflated

@bookwormcrazy @notcomfortable Clearly, it’s not that uncommon, we’re all feeling the same. Keep plugging away and hopefully the next dose will be better. We’re still dieting and it’s better than what we would be doing:🍷🍿🍰🍺🍕🍾, so let’s not lose hope!

I’ve read a frw that it can take longer to kick in with some people than others, caused by different health/internal body factors like levels of insulin resistance. Eg if you are quite insulin resistant then the MJ will have to work on that first. Don’t know if that applies to you at all.

To be honest, that could well be a factor. I have a low metabolism anyway as well as PCOS and I just looked up the signs of insulin resistance and resonate with most of them. Never considered it before.

I’m glad it’s not just me. I love seeing everyone’s stories on here and how it’s impacting them almost immediately but I just couldn’t relate.

Whatstfpoint · 17/01/2026 19:50

So @bookwormcrazy is going to increase her dose. What's everyone else doing and why?

Im torn. I have a lot of food noise. All the time. But im fuller much quicker and for longer sometimes. Im also v big so can loose quite easily. Im just worried the effects will wear off v soon into my second month and I will undo my loss.

On the other hand I need this medication to work for a good two years because of how big I am. I don't want to be rushing through doses and then what. I'd be OK to continue as it is now, but will it stay like this for another month!?

I'm going to stay on 2.5, purely for money cost
No point going up if its not going to work 🤣 i rushed up doses last year and lost so much hair, I want to avoid that

Whatstfpoint · 17/01/2026 19:56

@notcomfortable rushed means you increased every month?

Well if that’s the case (and it’s hugely common in those of us who are overweight) the MJ will help, so maybe thinking of that being mended in the background will stop you feeling so frustrated.

Edited to add - insulin resistance can cause/exacerbate PCOS too

YellowStockings · 17/01/2026 19:58

I've just taken my third dose of Wegovy this evening.

@Whatstfpoint I'm going to see how I feel (and what the scales say) over the next few days but I think I'm probably going to stick to another month of 0.25.

After dose two I didn't get any horrible side effects (apart from slower digestion, but not proper constipation) and I've found that as the week has gone on I'm really getting fuller more quickly, and finding it very easy both to turn down treats, but also to eat relatively normally - three small, healthy meals, plus a couple of healthy snacks. I've got a lot to lose (30kilo at least) and I don't want to lose my hair / end up losing muscle because I've no energy to exercise.

I had a couple of days of awful nausea (and one vom) with my first dose so I'm keen to delay moving up as long as I'm still losing on 0.25!

YellowStockings · 17/01/2026 19:59

Also I've just noticed @BG2015 we're going to need a new thread soon! 😁

BG2015 · 17/01/2026 20:01

Feel free anyone to start a new thread when it gets close. We're a team! I'm not precious 🤩

@YellowStockings good reasoning. I'd do the same if I wasn't so scared of this insane hunger returning. Im also going away right after my 5th dose so maybe it's best to stay lower.

cravingmilkshake · 17/01/2026 20:05

I took my third MJ of 2.5g last night . Very stuffed today. Had chicken breast at lunch with half a bag of the rice pouches and 100g of tomatoes . Dinner, husband made chicken fajitas. I didn’t have the wraps . Just some rice and the chicken mix . Now drinking a stack load of fizzy water and like to pretend I’m having a gin and tonic!

I have one more shot left at that dose and next to it in the fridge is the 5mg ! I decided to move up because I’m tolerating it now with no side affects . Want to see what the 5mg is like.

my friend lost 6 stone Jan to December last year on 2.5mg in Jan and then 5mg throughout, I know we’re all different , but I’m following her . I’ll report back after the first one .

weight is ok here - I weigh every day to get the trend and it says it’s 2.2kg a week so far . So I’ll give proper numbers at the end of the month .

I am hoping that this will help with my PCOS. I have at least 5st to lose (my goal - not even BMI goal) so hopefully that will help with my sleep apnea as well.

I am going to decide next week what pen to order to see what my weight is on jab day. I would rather wait until I take the 4th dose in case it is just taking its time but fear that might be too late for getting my next pen.

interestingly though - I suffer quite badly from IBS and I would say that for me the jabs seemed to have calmed that down. Normally I am “loose” and in pain most of the time but this has definitely slowed it down.

Yes it is meant to be helpful with IBS-D.lots of people say it cures them entirely.

Honestly the more I learn about it the more of a miracle it seems to be.

Hello! I’ve just ordered my first wegovy. I’ve got a lot to lose, more even than I realised. Can I join you?

We really are twinning: I started on 4 January and when I weighed this morning I was 107.9 too! How tall are you? I’m 5’7.

I’d like to say 5ft7 but I’m about half an inch under!

Topsyturvey10 · 17/01/2026 15:42

Has anyone else experienced this… I did my 2nd jab on Thursday evening and today I just feel a bit ‘strange’. It’s hard to explain how but a bit lightheaded, a slightly odd feeling. I’ve drunk plenty of water and made sensible meal choices with protein.

I wondered if it’s the compounded increase of the levels in me? I’m only taking 2.5mg.

Yes I feel the same. Had my 3rd dose on Wednesday evening and have felt off the last couple of days. At one point was wondering if I was getting a migraine as usually feel like this before one sets in.

I’ve ordered the next dosage up (5mg) but regretting it now and thinking I should have stuck with 2.5 for another 4 weeks!
