Brand new January 2026 starters

BG2015 · 26/12/2025 11:58

Hi, my first WG pen is in the fridge ready to start on 1st January.

Im 56 (57 in Feb) post menopausal and cancer survivor in remission 5 years nearly. still taking cancer prevention medication that I believe that is hindering my weight loss. I just can't seem to lose it no matter how much I try. It took me 5 months to lose 10lb earlier on in the year.

Im 5' 8" so carry my extra weight well.

Some great weight losses here. Well done everyone.

I was speaking to my friend who started at the same time as me about increasing dosage and we'll probably stay on 2.5mg for the next month. The side effects are negligible and the MJ has definitely impacted what and how much I'm eating.

I think this is probably the longest I've gone with out having any sugary treats. Even when I was dieting I always allowed calories for a chocolate. It must have played havoc with my blood sugar levels.

@Concernedcatmum that's a massive loss already, congratulations!

I started at 111 a few weeks ago and have a similar long term goal. That feels really far off though, so my first goal is I'd like to get to 100kg by mid-March (when I've got a 40th birthday party to go to), and then maybe 90-93kg by mid-May (when I've got a 60th to attend).

Thank you!
Really like the idea of mini goals, agree to get to under 100 would be amazing

Skyflyinghigh · 17/01/2026 12:51

Sorry late to the club. I’ve filled in the forms and bailed at the last step. I’m terrified of the side effects etc. I know I’m a big wuss. I’m getting married in July and want to lose 1.5 stones. Been dieting since May last year and lost 5lbs!!!!

CatNoBag · 17/01/2026 12:52

I have an app called Happy Scales where I log my weight. You can put your target weight in and it breaks the distance between now and then into smaller milestones and estimates when you’ll achieve each one. It helps make the total number less overwhelming for me!

I was the same. So worried. I finally did it a week ago and now I wonder why I wasted so many months plucking up the courage. How much weight I could have lost by now!

you can do it x

YouBelongWithMe · 17/01/2026 13:07

I lile the idea of mini goals too. I'm doing it with Juniper who break up your target weight into mini-milestones. My weight loss journey has been chunked into seven milestones which feels achievable.

I am going on holiday in Feb, and then two mino city breaks in May and September. It's worked out do well in terms of giving me a chunk of time to make as difference between each one.

Twinning! I also haven’t posted my stats on here yet but I topped the scales at 111kg (17st6.7lbs) on 5/1. So mine are looking like:

SW 111kg
CW 107.9 kg
Total loss 3.1kg (just under 7lbs)

Goal - I have had 11st7 in my head for my entire adult life so 73kg but I know anything under 13 looks okay on me, so getting there would be good.

YouBelongWithMe · 17/01/2026 13:09

Juniper also sent scales with the first order, which connect to their app on my phone. So it all syncs pretty slickly. I like looking at the wee graph and downwards weight trend!

I have a Renpho scale which connects to the Renpho app and my Fitbit app too. It’s such a game-changer isn’t it!

Slightly addictive though!

Today I've had an M&S nutrient dense chia mousse thing for breakfast (it was reduced so I indulged my curiosity!), walked 8k steps with the dog, had a coffee and lots of water. Nothing else yet. Planning beef pilaf which is a Hello Fresh / Gousto recipe for dinner. Had a really indulgent hot bath with salts and am planning to paint my nails to focus on dopamine hits that aren't about food.

What's everyone's days like?

That sounds really nice!
Two of my children were at a sleepover yesterday so I've been confined to the house to sort it, still drowning in cardboard from Christmas so I have eaten absolute crap
A white chocolate creme egg and it wasn't even worth the calories 😭
Absolutely starving but afternoon fatigue is starting to come for me. I really can't wait for brighter days, the weather is miserable and I can't get the kids out

Just buy it and put it in the fridge. There might be a moment at which you will be ready to take the plunge.

I get the thing about side effects. Every slight new ache gets me wondering whether im about to die. Sorry im not helping.

YouBelongWithMe · 17/01/2026 14:09

My three are older teens so I rarely have to give them a thought (if they're even in!). My DS works weekends at Greggs through uni and is gone all day (thank god I'm coeliac or, with his discount, I'd have another 2 stone to lose!!), my middle teen is off bouldering with her pals and the youngest is at a sleepover.

All three of mine have a bouldering membership and use it v regularly. Am wondering if I should try it to build in some good exercise habits for longer term maintenance. I walk the dog but that's probably not enough.

How are you all approaching exercise?

I agree - the expiry date on them tends to be quite long, I've just used one that I bought last May but only finally took the plunge (expiry was end of Feb, so now or never for that one!). I was talked out if last year, but 6 months later I was still constantly losing and gaining the same 5lbs so I've just gone for it this year without telling anyone. What got me over the line last Monday was having thought I'd had a not too bad week, I'd still managed to gain 3lbs so clearly can't do it on my own anymore! I have been lucky with no obvious side effects, so I'm going to stick with it for now!

I've been doing a fair bit of exercise for the past 20 years, injury, illness and lockdowns allowing! I've managed to stick to my usual routine this last week, 2-3 gym sessions and 4 runs and it's been ok, though I struggled at parkrun this morning. Had a very light meal last night and no breakfast - won't make that mistake again!

how was the chia pudding? I saw them, and was wondering about giving them a try. Not sure I love chia seeds though🤣.

Yes I don’t think I’ve been a healthy weight since I went off to uni at 18 to be honest. I’ve felt too big for a long time. I have leaned into ‘acceptance’ and justified emotional eating as ‘being kind to myself’. I think tipping into size 18 clothes in the autumn has pushed me to take action.

Glad to be on the journey with you!

I'm the same height. I can't set a goal weight because I can't imagine ever being with reaching distance of it. I've been overweight my entire life.

It was fine! Quite a big portion I thought. I had the cocoa mousse one and it was okay but I'm not convinced it was anything better than I'd make myself.

I usually make some kind of overnight oat/chia pudding and take it to work anyway. My current go-to is greek yoghurt, milk, oats, chia seeds, grated apple and then a drizzle of honey.

Topsyturvey10 · 17/01/2026 15:42

Has anyone else experienced this… I did my 2nd jab on Thursday evening and today I just feel a bit ‘strange’. It’s hard to explain how but a bit lightheaded, a slightly odd feeling. I’ve drunk plenty of water and made sensible meal choices with protein.

I wondered if it’s the compounded increase of the levels in me? I’m only taking 2.5mg.

Alwaysoneoddsock · 17/01/2026 15:58

Hi, may I join you all please? I took my second 2.5mg dose on Tuesday.

i lost 3 stone on MJ last year but didn’t change any habits so put it all back on again when I stopped. Lesson learned for me. I’m focusing on nutrition and movement this time. 2026 is the year I sort out my health, my house (needs a LOT of TLC) and my finances (from now on sensible decisions only).

Etherealcelestialbeing · 17/01/2026 16:33

I have very little time for exercise unfortunately. It’s something I need to work on so that I don’t fall back into bad habits. At the moment I manage 1 yoga class per week and a weekend walk with the kids. I am on my feet all day at work so that at least gives me some movement. I’ve been trying to start some weight based routines but I haven’t made anything stick yet.
I got a vibration plate for Xmas so have tried a quick routine on that today. I already feel better!

We really are twinning: I started on 4 January and when I weighed this morning I was 107.9 too! How tall are you? I’m 5’7.

Ooh I am intrigued by these. Think they're meant to be great for your lymphatic system which I need help with.

What are the benefits you're hoping for?

Yes I’ve read they’re good for lymphatic draining - I followed a routine from insta for that today. Also supposed to be good for bone health and an extra boost to muscle strength.
To be honest, I’m hoping just having it sitting in front of me will spur me on to exercise 😆
