BG2015 · 26/12/2025 11:58

Hi, my first WG pen is in the fridge ready to start on 1st January.

Im 56 (57 in Feb) post menopausal and cancer survivor in remission 5 years nearly. still taking cancer prevention medication that I believe that is hindering my weight loss. I just can't seem to lose it no matter how much I try. It took me 5 months to lose 10lb earlier on in the year.

Im 5' 8" so carry my extra weight well.
CW 13stone
TW 11 stone

Whose joining me on this weight loss journey?

Ooh I'll join you shortly. I haven't ordered mine yet but want to start in January... my weight loss/gain history is long. Most recently lost 4st with SW and kept it off for 2 years but then it started creeping back on... am not back at my heaviest and don't want to be there again. I am 55.

Congratulations on the cancer remission. Must have been a difficult journey. Good luck w the weight loss!

Ralphiesaurus · 26/12/2025 17:29

This thread prompted me to finally order :)

RedApplePie · 26/12/2025 17:53

I have had a WG pen hidden in the garage (yes, I know!) for three weeks now. I’m both desperate and terrified to take it, I think I’m convinced I will immediately develop acute pancreatitis and die if I do, and that I ‘should’ be able to manage myself. But in reality, it’s a constant battle just to maintain my BMI of 31.

lovealongbath · 26/12/2025 17:59

Good luck, you can do this 💪

BG2015 · 26/12/2025 18:07

Welcome everyone. We can do this and support each other 👍🏼

Hi, I am seriously wanting to do this and juts need to do my research and order! I plan to to do it alongside Slimming World.

NoCapesDarling · 27/12/2025 12:44

Joining please!
I have used ALL of them in the past and lost a bit of weight fairly easily, but had been doing it for the wrong reasons (keeping family members happy). So not lost as much as I could have if I actually really tried, and didn’t keep the weight off when I stopped when prices changed.
Starting again with more commitment and hoping that engaging with support etc will actually help me get it right this time.

BG2015 · 27/12/2025 16:22

Welcome!
We can do this!

:)

Prescription has been approved and pen dispatched! Looks like I'm actually doing this!

SueblueNZ · 27/12/2025 18:00

Hi all from NZ.
I am going to consider myself a January starter so would like to join your tribe. I will be taking my first 0.5mg Wegovy on 1 January. I actually planned to start then anyway, but after a brutal confrontation in a changing room mirror in early December, I started on 0.25 that night!!
Almost a month on I have lost about 1kg from a starting weight of 90kg. I am short, only 151cm. I actually feel that the weight loss is more to do with giving up drinking and changing other habits rather than the Wegovy. I have had not one single side effect at all (I know that is good) but also have felt no appetite suppression. To the extent that I feel that I could have been injecting water – at $475 a pen!! Wegovy is the only WLI option available in NZ. So, on NY night I will take my first dose at the higher level and am hoping I feel some side effects just to reassure me that something is going on in my system.
I wrote a long rambling post about a month ago with my weight loss journey but I won’t bore you beyond the bare basics – am 69, working full-time (by choice) from home, had weight loss surgery in 2007, have osteoporosis and three artificial body parts. My ability to exercise is limited. I want to lose at least 15kg to feel more mobile and generally more healthy.
I look forward to following everyone’s stories and progress. Here’s to a lighter healthier new year for us all.

KeepPloddingOn4Ever · 28/12/2025 13:29

I've just ordered it! I've done lots of research and I am really excited to be doing this! I will probably start after next Sunday as we have a family event to attend and I'm worried about side effects.

NoCapesDarling · 28/12/2025 14:33

Woah my order arrived today- only did the consultation on Boxing Day so I was expecting it to arrive end of the week at the earliest!
I know this is January starters but I just couldn’t wait and started today. 2.5mg Mounjaro, goal set by the app is to lose 25kg but would be happy with 15kg, overjoyed with 20kg!

whitemugblueplate · 28/12/2025 15:19

Just to say that I started thinking about this last January and I finally plucked up the courage to start in May. I’m now 3 stone down (2 more to go) but it’s the best thing I’ve done.

Topsyturvey10 · 28/12/2025 17:35

I’m in for a January start. Where have you all ordered your pens from? I’m in a quandary of which company to use🤔

AddUpToNothing · 28/12/2025 18:00

I’ll be hoping to join you all - just completed my consultation with Pharmacy2U as it was the cheapest I found.

I am also a little nervous about starting and being one of the unlucky ones in regards to side effects.

I’m 41 and my weight has crept up over the last few years and I’m now almost 16st and I need to do something about it.

Good luck to everyone starting this journey!

TheMentalMentalLoad · 28/12/2025 18:05

Can I join in? I’ve just done my first jab of 0.25 wegovy tonight. I’ve got 2-3 stone to lose. All my clothes are so tight and uncomfortable and I just feel unhappy at how I look.

letsdothis5 · 28/12/2025 18:27

Hi all, I’m Hoping to join!

I know it’s Jan starters but I’m only a few days early! 🙈

I’ve just done my first dose of 2.5mg if MJ around 5pm. Feeling very nervous and excited at the same time.

I’ve been thinking about it for over a year now, but I think this is the right time for me to start. My biggest fear is stopping the injections and gaining everything back! So my aim is to do all I can to prevent that!

any tips or tricks along the way regarding side effects etc would be much appreciated! 😃

ben10isdead · 28/12/2025 19:51

Hi, can I join? Due to start MJ on 2nd Jan but waiting for delivery - they are delayed so can’t guarantee that I will get it for then but am hoping 🤞. I’m type 1 diabetic but have got approval from my diabetes consultant to go with it and I’ve found a supplier that are specifically for type 1s and have had a consultation with a diabetes nurse and am checking in with her with online consultations bi weekly once I start. I start on a reduced dose of 1.25 which will most probably need tweaking but need to take it gently to start with. I am also 5 years out of a cancer diagnosis and treatment. I would like to lose 3 stone, maybe could do a couple more but will see how it goes. I am 58 and for the last 2 years have tried to lose weight. I run 3 km on a treadmill 5x per week and do limit my calories to around 1200 per day but I occasionally have a bad day and also struggle on a weekend. I do drink alcohol at the weekend and feel that it would help if I stopped this but I enjoy a couple of drinks. I’m looking forward to starting and getting back to feeling like myself but am currently in self destruct mode and eating everything I shouldn’t!!

im worried about hair loss but am taking collagen, biotin, selenium etc and thinking about ordering pumpkin seed oil capsules just in case.

Roll on 02/01 👊

C080889 · 28/12/2025 20:04

I used Mounjaro Jan - June lost 26kg. Put 4kg on (a very social 2 months) 8kg to lose to take me to my goal weight of 75kg. Just started Wegovy and have taken my first 0.25 dose. Hoping this helps me along!
For any new starters I really rate the Nutracheck app and 8/16 fasting plus plenty of water.
Good luck all

BooptotheFloof · 29/12/2025 03:02

I really want to start and I’m hoping by joining the thread I will motivate myself to actually order!

I am currently 13 stone 7, I’ve just turned 50 and I’m 5ft 3

I’ve been on HRT for a year - high blood pressure meds for 4 years and in the last 12 months I have put on over two stone

Because of the job I do I am surrounded by food all the time (and it is easy to pick as it’s all mine!!) it’s a daily nightmare - my lack of self control and willpower is making me so depressed - which makes me eat more

I did the CWP back in 2017 and got down to my goal weight of 9 stone 7 so I know I can do it but in the last few years I’ve lost all enthusiasm for exercise and keeping healthy

i need a kick start and the more I research options the more I realise it’s my only way forward

I’m stuck on what to go for as funds are not endless and although Wegovy is cheaper i feel like I need the quicker results of mounjaro

i think this is what is holding me back but everywhere had new years deals on so maybe I should just jump in now!

NoCapesDarling · 29/12/2025 07:24

I’m using juniper this time- previously gone it alone using other pharmacies but I really wanted the extra support this time. If anyone wants a referral code let me know. I bet there are cheaper options out there if you’re looking for the most cost effective though!

BG2015 · 29/12/2025 08:06

I'm also with Juniper as the support seemed good.

You get scales that link to your phone - they have an app where you can check progress and add weight loss etc.

I started in December after bringing it forward as it was meant to be a jan start. I was worried about the side effects and anything else you can worry about. i stocked up on things for all eventualities such as acid reflux, gut health, consitpation, along with vitamins.
so far after 4 doses i have had a mild headache for the first week, a pain pill sorted it, and thats it. I had expected the worst as i am often sensitive to meds, but it was all good.
so this is really a message of support, you wont know until you start it, most side effects i have heard from are treatable and often go away.
good luck and if you need a referral code DM me

FussyFancyDragon · 29/12/2025 09:42

I’m joining! I’ve just posted this on a different thread, but will post it here too.

I’m not a brand new user; I lost over 4st on it last year, but stopped when I went on a month long holiday to the states and put a few lbs on then. I still had 2st to go if I wanted my target weight, but I was happy enough with where I was at.

I’ve had my birthday and Christmas, and have just gone nuts in the knowledge that I can go back on MJ in the new year. Not the best, but I’ve had a lovely time! So, I’m now almost a stone heavier than I was before the holiday.

I’m now very much considering going back on Mj. I was using IQ doctor last time, and found a code each month to knock money off. So I’m just trying to weigh up costs and who is best to go with, whether IQ still do monthly codes, or if I go with someone new and get a new patient discount.

letsdothis5 · 29/12/2025 09:59

Morning ladies!

for those that have been on it before, how soon did the food noise/loas of appetite kick in?

I took my very first 2.5 of MJ at 5pm last night and I have no interest in food whatsoever! And I feel quite nauseous this morning. I’ve never ever felt this way about food before, it’s like a switch has flipped and I just have zero feelings towards food 🫣
