Brand new January 2026 starters

BG2015 · 26/12/2025 11:58

Hi, my first WG pen is in the fridge ready to start on 1st January.

Im 56 (57 in Feb) post menopausal and cancer survivor in remission 5 years nearly. still taking cancer prevention medication that I believe that is hindering my weight loss. I just can't seem to lose it no matter how much I try. It took me 5 months to lose 10lb earlier on in the year.

Im 5' 8" so carry my extra weight well.
CW 13stone
TW 11 stone

Whose joining me on this weight loss journey?

Morning all! I’ve just had an email from the prescriber at Pharmacy2U requesting an ID & weight video so I’ll get out of bed shortly to do that.

Have started sensible eating already - was just fed up with eating rubbish & snacking constantly. Went out for a meal last night but just had a main course of fish, potatoes & veg and the portions were pretty reasonable.

I’m still deciding whether to tell people or not. Guess I’ll just need to get started & see how I go.

BG2015 · 02/01/2026 08:38

I've only told my DP, not planning on telling anyone else.

My DB lost a lot of weight last year and I'm now wondering whether he was using weight loss injections. He's not told a soul.

Have definitely woken up feeling rather ‘icky’ this morning. Getting DCs breakfast made me feel quite nauseous and the smell when I opening the fridge door…almost a mild morning sickness type feeling. Which I guess is the desired effect.

Justbloodylovecrisps · 02/01/2026 09:12

I said I wasn’t going to tell anyone, but I told all of my friends at lunch yesterday, I am such an over sharer. I was expecting negativity, but they all seem happy for me, so hope it goes well

blackandwhitefluffycat · 02/01/2026 09:14

Hi all,

I’m about to have my first dose of MJ. My DH has been on it for a couple of months and it’s worked wonders for him, although his situation is different.

I was slim my whole life up until I started HRT 1.5 years ago - since then the weight has piled on, even with my diet being the same and still exercising daily.

I’m unable to lose it either - I kept a log and went down to 1000 calories a day for over a month and didn’t lose a thing.

I’m hoping the MH will help to counteract whatever is going on. The pharmacy I went through wanted photo evidence and ID but HRT wasn’t on the list of medications to make them aware of; it’s only through reading this post that I realised there could be an issue. I’m going to speak to someone today about possibly increasing my oral progesterone.

Hi everyone , I will be picking up my first prescription today . I have ballooned and have put on 3 stone last year. Need to make a change !

joining the thread to stay accountable and listen to your stories. Thanks x

sunnysunshinebear · 02/01/2026 09:35

Please can I join? I took my first does of MJ on New Year’s Eve. Had an awful migraine yesterday (not sure if it was linked or not) and have still been hungry….
Good luck everyone!
I also have a referral code for £40 off at Simple Online Pharmacy if anyone needs one 😬

ProblematicallyPorus · 02/01/2026 09:37

I hope all of those who have had a rough time starting feel better soon 💐.

I'm on day 2 now and feel ok. Has a good night's sleep after sleeping very badly on night 1. I'm down 1.8kg since ordering it, but i was eating more than usual over Christmas so calorie intake has gone from one extreme to the other and I'm sure it's almost all water weight.

Topsyturvey10 · 02/01/2026 09:44

My order is being prepared currently so I’m hoping to start either Sunday or Monday evening.
Im trying to educate myself on the best approach and will be stopping the iron tablets I take as apparently this can cause more chance of constipation.
I’ll be increasing protein and continuing with weight twice a week with some slow running too, drinking plenty of water and one dose of electrolytes daily. I started biotin and take collagen already.
Does anyone know which are the needles to get to use the last dose from the pens? I read about them on another thread.

BG2015 · 02/01/2026 11:14

First 24 hours and I can definitely tell things are different. Doing a lot of burping and feel muzzy headed, although my headache has gone. Glad I took it yesterday so I could monitor my symptoms.

Woke up hungry and ate as usual.

How odd. The email from Pharmacy2u requesting I send a copy of my ID & record a video - has disappeared from my inbox, and the message from the app.

I was hoping to do that this morning but it looks like I’ll be starter later than expected…..

Octagoneaway · 02/01/2026 11:32

Feeling ok this morning, but less than 24 hours since I jabbed. Feeling a bit peckish, but I had to go out, so I’m away from the fridge, luckily.

Had this message from the only friend I’ve told, so sharing this with everyone:

DRINK MORE WATER.

best of luck to everyone 👍

LilacPossum · 02/01/2026 15:54

I’ve just done my first jab! Also suddenly feeling very anxious and praying for as few side effects as possible. I have a referral code for £40 at Bolt Pharmacy if anyone wants it, it’s been super easy to go through them.

intentionals · 02/01/2026 16:51

I have the 2.5mg injection ready to jab for the first time this evening. Decided to take it before bed as that might be easier with side effects if I am sleeping?

I have about three stone to lose - feels such a large amount and the annoying thing is I managed to lose it but the regain it within about a year and a half.

I honestly have not yet made a plan for how this is going to work. I know I will need to drink lots of water and eat lots of protein. I also see a personal trainer and we are going to focus on weights etc to avoid muscle loss.

I feel a bit ashamed for doing this. Was just reading another thread that is basically “why not just eat less and move more??”. Well I have honestly tried. My issue is not eating loads throughout the day - I tend to eat nothing for ages then get to the point where I am so hungry I just eat loads of quick and easy really unhealthy food. So it’s got to be a whole system overhaul and I guess I will figure it out as I go along.

Whatstfpoint · 02/01/2026 17:54

I'm on day two and woke up with no side effects, but they are back now, especially feeling dizzy. I ate half a pizza today so far (had it in the fridge and it had to go) and ended up with some GI issues. I feel so full. I might have to rethink dinner and maybe not eat the leftover stuff from the holidays as its also beige.

You have absolutely no reason to feel ashamed - you have tried to do something and it hasn’t worked - this isn’t cheating and it only works with hard work and determination

I don’t think anyone here thinks it’s a cop out

I have 4 stone to lose - I have been losing the same four stone since I had my DS 12 years ago

Dont read the threads there only there to make you feel bad - you have taken control and you’ve got this!

HannahBoyle · 02/01/2026 18:09

I had my first jab today, with a BMI of 31, started on the minimum dose of Weygovy, so interested to see how it goes.

Ironically, I have been really hungry since I had the jab, I hope that’s not how it’s going to work for me!

Im aiming to lose 3 stone.

bookwormcrazy · 02/01/2026 18:32

I have been approved by Bolt and should get my first pen early next week. However I am in a quandary - my husband starts a new type of chemo next Thursday and I really don’t want to be feeling not great from any side affects on the first few days of him having chemo as I need to be clear headed to deal with how he’s feeling.
I think I might have to wait until the week after to start but I have a work trip booked on the Tues/Wed. and now it’s starting to feel like I am already putting it off to be more convenient - but is there ever a convenient time to start.

blackandwhitefluffycat · 02/01/2026 18:59

I took my first dose earlier and haven’t noticed any side effects or difference so far.

I’ve been told I can’t continue with my current HRT regime of gel and Utrogestan while on MJ, and that I’ll have to change to patches. I’m so disappointed, as I had nightmare symptoms, HRT has been life changing and I’m worried the patches won’t be as effective/ stay on etc. Everything I’ve read online says you can increase the dose of oral progesterone, but the HCP said MJ reduces effectiveness dramatically and they can’t increase it.

Sounds like you’ve got a lot on your plate for the next week or two. See what day the pen arrives and how you feel then. No point in putting pressure only yourself. In the scheme of things two weeks is nothing. Wishing you and your husband all the best for the treatment.

Blimey, that’s me 100%

I jabbed last night and went straight to bed. Haven’t felt bad at all so far. I also want to lose 3 stone. I am not planning to tell my PT. We talked about mounjaro before and he wasn’t entirely positive, so I think I’ll just pretend I’m taking all his advice🤣.

goldylock · 02/01/2026 19:04

Got my first pen today.

Nearly fainted at the price (I'm in Ireland where weight loss injections are a dirty word).

I rationaled all the way home tho that it's investing in me. I never buy anything for myself, and I've a wardrobe fully of clothes I can't fit into. Once am down a bit, I can start wearing them again.

Pharmacist said to me that most people take it on a Thurs or Fri eve/night, in case of any side effects. So am going to inject tonight after dinner. I'll change it to every Thurs eve then.

Here we go....

PS: I haven't told anyone either and so finding this thread great to read/participate.

LilacPossum · 02/01/2026 19:21

How has everyone found alcohol? I love a glass of wine and I’d like one tonight but not sure if it will make me feel rough! I only jabbed about 3.30 today

BooptotheFloof · 02/01/2026 19:28

My pen is finally out for delivery!!! So should be with me in time for me to take tomorrow night 🎉

My only worry now (because I have to worry about something) is we are away next weekend so I might have to take it on Sunday next weekend - I can’t be ill while we are away and I can’t be in control of what we are eating because we are staying with family

@goldylock i am currently looking at my wardrobe of size 12 clothes - I can’t wait to fit back into them!

I've decided to attempt dry January this year, so avoiding alcohol. My DP is doing it too. We've slipped into drinking on Thursday nights (when my weekend starts) and then all weekend and that's not good so we are not drinking any alcohol now until February.

Ive not even thought about it tonight.
