Hi everyone, starting a second thread as the other one is almost full. We made it through month one, now here’s to a happy, healthy and lighter 2026!

I do find that logo g the calories of everything is the best habit that MJ has given me. Yes I will still choose bad things, but it’s now a conscious decision because I know the calories or I know they’re empty calories and I’m still choosing to do it. Rather than guessing or drastically underestimating how much I’ve eaten.

I agree, it really helps, I think it will be vital for the reverse dieting/maintenance phase. I am hoping I wont need to all the time once I stabilise but then can count to get back on track after holidays or times where I feel I may have overindulged.

NSV, I bought some things from Zara fully expecting them not to fit and they fit 😲 XL but still surprised. I hadn’t fully considered the price as I wasn’t expecting them to fit so now I’m going to have to decide whether to keep them! Nice problem to have though.

Strangely, in previous attempts to lose weight I’ve always logged my calories, and when I started MJ I did the same. I stopped after a couple of weeks because the weight was coming off so easily and I had no desire for extra food.
Overall, I’ve eaten roughly the same amount each week while on the jabs, so tracking would have been quite repetitive, and I’ve actually enjoyed not having to do it. It does worry me a little, though — it feels like a very low number of calories to stick to if I start getting really hungry again or if the food noise comes back.

I’ve not posted for a bit as my elderly dm had a fall last week resulting in a broken femur and a three hour operation and so have been a bit all over the place; mentally and physically. It was the day after my birthday and I was meant to be celebrating the day it happened and also at the weekend/Mother’s Day so I didn’t have to worry about bad effects from alcohol or overindulgence. Tiny silver lining but rather hard to see. Although, come to think of it, I did stay up to watch the Oscars with the dc as a distraction from the stress and had a glass of wine!

Not much to report on my mounjaro journey - plodding along. Although I was very, very hungry on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday before my late Tuesday night jab. Ate about an hour ago tonight and was very full after. I am thinking about trying 3 little meals rather than 2 medium a day but when I become a bit of a creature of habit when trying to lose weight.

Springbaby2023 · 19/03/2026 21:40

@tobee Sorry to hear about your poor mum, how’s she doing now? Hope you get chance to rearrange some celebrations.

Sorry to hear about your mum @tobee. Well done for plodding on. Very difficult at times of such stress and worry. Hope your Mum recovers well.

user593 · 20/03/2026 07:42

Sorry to hear about your mum @tobee, I hope she feels better soon.

Weigh in day today, 1.8kg/ just under 4lbs down, happy with that although I have had a tummy bug this week. A few NSVs, my blood pressure has come down so I’ve booked an appointment with the doctor to see if I can halve my dose of blood pressure medication, and I tried a few clothes on last night and I’m now a 20 in pants/ trousers (from a 26+), so I’m having a clear out today. Happy Friday all!

I think I’m going to take my next dose a day early this week. I need to adjust the timings as we’re going away for two weeks at the end of the month. My plan is to take a dose the day we fly and then just go a week without. I can’t face dealing with the logistics of travelling with it. Has anyone done this? I’m only on 5mg so hoping going back to 5mg after a week’s break won’t be awful….

Unfortunately we’re also going to a country where the cuisine is my all time favourite 🙈 (but not particularly unhealthy, I hope!).

Edited

Not sure if i'm too late for your holiday, but i have just travelled to and around Thailand for three weeks, 5 different flights and not once was my WLI pulled or questioned. I used a Frio pouch and carried a copy of my prescription just in case. Carried on jabbing as usual, stuck to small portions but chose whatever i fancied rather than the healthiest version, drunk small amounts (maybe 1 or 2 bottles of Chang) every day and came back only 1lb heavier , which could potentially be water retention from the flight.
So if you wanted to take your pen with you it's not a problem at all. Have a lovely holiday.

user593 · 20/03/2026 09:51

@ChristmasCalsDoCount Thanks, that’s really helpful! We haven’t left, we’re leaving next week. I’m still not totally sure it’s worth the hassle for one week (I can take the jab the day we go so will only miss one week) but my DP is quite keen to take his Wegovy. I’ve never heard of a Frio pouch but I’ll take a look!

Springbaby2023 · 20/03/2026 15:43

Question for those who order a higher pen and then take a smaller dose, how long would you happily use a pen for after the first dose? Obviously I know you have to leave in the fridge etc

Thanks for the concern about my mum. I’m seeing her again tomorrow; I think she’s very fed up with not being able to self mobilise but she sounded better on the phone today.

TaffyTabby · 20/03/2026 18:49

Glad she sounded better, hopefully onward and upward.

@Springbaby2023 I am keeping them for 8-9 weeks as I’ve read others doing that (or longer) without any issue. I believe they prescribe pens to be used that way abroad.

@user593 that is incredible progress! Well done you.

Springbaby2023 · 20/03/2026 20:04

@TaffyTabby thank you that’s helpful! Was looking to stretch next one over eight weeks

Sorry to hear about your DM @tobee- what a worry for you.

I've been visiting my Mum and covering her carer - got back home yesterday, and DH been in hospital for tests, which have shown some quite worrying results :( it puts everything in perspective and makes me wonder what the point is in worrying about my weight! But must remember my own health too I guess. 2026 has been horribly stressful so far.

In better news.m, and on the weightloss front - I am down another 3lbs, taking me to 9st 5 (although also showing 9st 10 on another set of scales, but still the same loss). I haven't been eating brilliantly & definitely not hitting protein goals. It feels impossible to eat with combination of mounjaro & anxiety!

SexyFrenchDepression · 21/03/2026 00:03

Sorry to hear a few people are having a tough time. I have been a bit all over the place, poor DS2 had a panic attack last weekend and it seems to have triggered his IBS so hes been in bed all week. Feel so sad for him.

Some great losses for everyone still, its fantastic after this many months. I managed to lose 1lb this week so 0.2lb from target now. As I've been losing weight my tummy skin goes wrinkly then a week later it evens out, periodically it keeps happening. Its like my skin not matching the rest of me then catching up. So weird.

I am taking half doses so making the pen last twice as long. I am also doing the golden dose(s) which adds another 2 weeks. So ten weeks.

I am using for around 8 weeks currently. When I go back to 2.5mg it will be 10 weeks.

I was talking to a poster on here and she was using a 5mg pen for 1.5mg doses for maintenance and had no issues.

Springbaby2023 · 21/03/2026 21:10

Thanks everyone that’s really reassuring!

Finally bit the bullet and ordered a 10mg pen. Was really torn as I want to start thinking about coming off soon but I’m stalling at 5 lb over my original target (would like to lose 9lb to give myself wriggle room). Very tempting to give up now but going to try one last push. So thinking a couple of doses of 10mg but will then use it to take smaller doses.

Hopefully it'll give you that last boost. I want to have a buffer, maybe 4lb also. I think it'll be hard to get that last few lb off but I need to go back to really focusing on what I'm eating rather than how much as I have slipped so much. I was out almost every night last week and week before so this week is quieter, plus going into busy time at work so need to be organised with food.

TaffyTabby · 22/03/2026 10:51

I did not have a good day with food yesterday. Probably the first time I’ve eaten more than maintenance calories. I had reduced my dose a little last week so probs need to go back up again. I think I just have to accept I will need to increase my dose and can’t stay on the lower ones.

user593 · 24/03/2026 18:08

Not a weigh in day today but I hit 30kg lost, 5st is right around the corner 🥳

How are you feeling today @TaffyTabby? 💕

TaffyTabby · 24/03/2026 19:29

@user593 that is just incredible! Are you celebrating in any way? Bravo

Thanks for asking - I’ve eaten more this week, and the scale has stayed the same. On the plus side I’ve been working out more and I fit in a size 14 dress today which was exciting - although probs still a bit tight.

Jab day tomorrow and can’t decide whether to go up a dose a little or not.

How’s everyone else on the thread doing?

user593 · 24/03/2026 19:41

@TaffyTabby No, long way to go 😅 but I’m trying to acknowledge and appreciate every little milestone.

I think exercise does slow down weight loss when you’re doing something like this, although it is good for you! I’m planning to start going to the gym in June. I’ll have to make a real effort to be consistent as it’s not something I enjoy. Size 14 is amazing, you must be thrilled!
