I’ve reached my target of a BMI of 22 and am titrating down. I switched to Wegovy when the big price jump came in and it seems to have suited me. No side effects (except for a runny nose…anyone else had this?) and the anti inflammatory aspect has helped my arthritis. I’m 72. I’m injecting every week, then week plus one day then week plus two etc until I run out of this dosage. When I go on to the lower one I’ll do the same and so on until I’m barely there. I’m terrified of the food noise coming back but I have learnt the value of protein, water etc and the usefulness of a protein shake when I crave something sweet. We shall see….

Thornrose · 25/05/2026 22:23

This is so good to hear @Maryb54 . I've ordered 5mg mounjaro instead of 7.5 this month. See how that works out.

I really want to switch to Wegovy and I'm not sure what's holding me back! Just fear of the unknown I guess!

RatherTardy · 27/05/2026 08:13

Ar my absolute biggest after covid i was 16.4.
I think i was around 15 when I started the jabs, which was June 10th for me. (I'd lost a bit before I started doing low carbing, and i find it relatively easy to lose weight at this time of year when salad calls and tastes amazing)

Today I'm 12.11, with a bmi of 27.2.

So I won't get there within the year, but I'm really getting there. The NHS website says the top of healthy for my height is 11.10, and my eye is firmly set there.

A big deal in my life is I have bought a new tshirt for exercise classes, and it's not a tent, it's fitted.
I don't have the words to say just how brave this is for me, and it feels fantastic.
Obviously, no one has noticed. 😂

SecretIrnBruDrinker · 27/05/2026 13:37

I'm 5'3" ish, I always thought I was 5'4 but the GP is convinced I'm 5'2 and it depends what time of day ... either way I need to hit 10st to be in the healthy BMI and I'm still 10st 7something as I have been occasionally for the last 6 weeks.

I've been taking 20 clicks of a 5mg weekly for the past 3 weeks and I don't have another pen. I'm hoping that'll do it but I have no idea.

Is anyone going to drop lower than 2.5mg maintenance?

maddiemookins16mum · 28/05/2026 13:55

So today is the day, one year exactly since I took that photo and ordered my first 2.5mg pen. Looking at my account I was 13 stone 12 and wearing a size 18 (my BMI was 33 as I’m 5ft 4.

Today I weigh 9 stone 4 and am in size 10 shorts! My BMI is 22.8!

What a journey I’ve had. I look like a different person. I’m now working my way down to 2.5 again (I got as high as the 15), am about to order a 7.5 this week. Plan to be off totally in September.

MsRinky · 29/05/2026 11:14

It's my MJ anniversary today, down 21.6kg on this day last year, which averages out to 0.4kg a week. It wouldn't be fast enough for some, but I am thrilled. I've worked really hard at the gym and doing my steps every day, so I have lost nearly all fat and barely any muscle, and staying on top of my diet has been easy for nearly all the time.

Still 8.8kg to go to get to BMI 25, where I'll reassess where I want to end up, but I'm wearing size 12 jeans, and have visible collarbones and abs! I can deadlift my whole body weight and bench press 40% of my weight! I feel fanfuckingtastic and feel so so fortunate that I can afford this medication and the gym (and have the time to use it)

Bloozie · 29/05/2026 16:39

NSV - I own a pair of shorts. Last time I wore shorts was 20 years ago.

OK. So they're jorts. But still. Very comfortable size 14. I'm pleased.

BadgerFace · 29/05/2026 17:00

I am a year today as well! I hit goal weight just before Christmas and just about maintained on 5mg bar a few pounds fluctuation until the end of March. I then had a month’s break as we were going to the US on holiday and I didn’t want to be on it whilst away as it wasn’t covered by my travel insurance for health related issues.

I had 5mg and 7.5mg pens stashed for my return. In my head it was going to be like the suppression right back at the beginning and I was very surprised that it has not been! I have been quite hungry. I have used the 5mg pen in doses of 2.5mg moving up to 5mg and had intended to use the 7.5mg pen for 5mg doses as I’ve put on 4 pounds since January…

I have been wavering about whether to buy more ones or not, went to order on Wednesday as I knew I’d be home Thursday for delivery only to find my pharmacy no longer says next day delivery if ordered before 3pm but that it might take up to 10 days!! Not sure what to do now as I have to arrange being home carefully with work and leave a window for no meetings to be available for the postman and that doesn’t work if I don’t know when it’s coming in a 10 week period until dispatched…

RussianDoll76 · 03/06/2026 13:02

Just checking in ! Great to read how people are doing ?

I am still on 5 mg maintaining and it’s going well, not sure how long I will carry on before I make another drop going to do 3.75 mg next gradually down like i gradually went up. Like to be on 2.5mg by the time winter hits but very aware its comfort food season. I am at 9st 8lbs which I have been for several weeks now but definitely being more relaxed with food. I do 20-25000 steps on a work day and don’t have time to eat so try to eat more on days off. Average around 10-15000 steps on day off. Skin is tightening up a bit but hoping it will get better . Not bad but still concerned about life after MJ .
Love to hear from more of our June 2025 starters !!!

Edited

Can you contact them to change the delivery day? I’m with Numan at the moment as with referral discounts it’s cheaper than the cheapest on Monj, and I can edit the delivery date through the app.
I assume by now after a year that everyone’s exhausted new customer referrals, but if you haven’t used Numan yet I have a referral that will get you £100 off. Pm me if interested.
Still plodding on here. Now in healthy BMI which is exciting, but only just! I’m so close to the 7 stone loss mark and would love to hit that by my year marker (mid June) but seems unlikely at the glacial pace I’m going at 😂 3lbs more to go to achieve that…

ihavetocookagain · 07/06/2026 16:11

After 6 months just maintaining at advice of GP, I increased my dose to 7.5mg. Finally got my scales to show 10st 13lb which means, since 2023 when I started slimming world (3 stone lost, 9lbs put back on)and the last year on MJ, I have lost 5stone! Thrilled. However, my son accidentally broke our scales so we have ordered new ones, which I hope measure the same as the original ones!!!
Going to stay on 7.5mg for the rest of the pen and decide what to do. Although I am not yet in the healthy bmi range, I’m actually happy at a size 14 and if I didn’t loose any more, I’d be ok with it, and try to get back to 5mg maintenance (I know I need it as a crutch to help me keep it off!).

RussianDoll76 · 07/06/2026 16:40

After maintaining for a few months at 9st 8 lb ( goal was 9st 7lbs just couldn’t get that last one off) weighed today pre jab and I am 9st 6lbs ! So goal reached and on maintenance . Doctor had said it may kick in again and I could lose more on maintenance so thinking about dropping down to 3.75 mg now goals been reached . 🤔 I didn’t think I would be at the stage where I didn’t want to lose anymore but I am . Life coming off MJ is a bit scary !

MsRinky · 07/06/2026 17:31

Oort, this week has been a tough one! I had decided to go up to 10mg because I felt like I wasn’t getting much support from 7.5 and was having to exercise quite a lot of willpower to keep to my calories. I had a 10 day gap from my last 7.5 dose as I was away camping at a festival. Dose 1, felt great, back in the groove, easily satisfied. Dose 2 was last Monday night and had stomach cramps Tuesday. Wednesday was OK, Thursday was terrible. Half the day in the loo and the other half asleep, felt completely wiped out. Have limped through the last few days, no energy, can barely force 900 calories a day down. Is this how the people who lost 7 stone in a year to my 3.5 felt all the time? They can keep it. I am due to jab tomorrow but will be waiting a few days at least and reducing the dose.

HappyWineDay · 08/06/2026 11:11

@MsRinky it's not unusual t find you can't tolerate a higher dose when you move up, even if you were fine on the lower dose. My OH went from 2.5mg to 5mg and had a terrible time. She switched to 3.75mg which she has had no problems with. So I'd maybe suggest going back to 7.5mg until things stabilise. Then if you're not getting the suppression you need, try moving to 8.75mg.
It probably didn't help that circumstances interrupted your usual injection timings at the same time you tried to move up.

RatherTardy · 09/06/2026 20:48

So, tomorrow is my mj birthday.

My BMI today is 27.2, so I'm not there yet, but I feel it is close, and if I hadn't had my blip in December and January, and it took me til mid Feb to be back on track, I might have done it. But heigh ho, I'm not upset.

Helped because I had an EXTRAORDINARY day today.
I bought a dress about 6 months ago (online, cos shops too depressing). Haven't worn it, because there was just too much tummy.

Last week, I was talking to someone who looked GORGEOUS in a fitted-ish/straight dress and converse ankle boots.
As soon as I got home, I ordered some off vinted. (tenner. Result!)

They arrived yesterday, so i wore it with the dress (not too much tummy now 🥳)
I felt soooooo naked, because I wasn't also wearing a cardie or jumper (extra thing to hide behind).
Anyway I had sooooooo many comments and compliments today, and several "have you lost weight?"s
So on the eve of my birthday, I feel AMAZING.

I hope to be at goal by the end of the summer/October half term.

Very proud of those of you who've got there already.

Who'd have thunk it this time last year?
Well done one and all ❤️❤️❤️

RatherTardy · 09/06/2026 20:54

Also, forgot to say, i can clothes shop in shops now. And have done.

I have choice, and things will fit.

So, not at goal, but very happy

Sogfree · 09/06/2026 21:54

Congrats @RatherTardy A great achievement!

And happy MJ birthday!

FancyShaker · 10/06/2026 00:07

Happy MJ Anniversary! Trying to lose a stubborn 1/2 stone. Mj worked initially upto 5ml for 6 months , tried wegovy , that didn't work. Went back to MJ but had to start at 2.5ml again. Now upto 7.5 ml and finally some movement..hope to get to goal soon..can't be on this rest of my life 😱

RussianDoll76 · 10/06/2026 07:57

@RatherTardy congratulations I’m so glad you’ve had an amazing MJ eve anniversary! Fantastic achievement . I hope today is just as wonderful 🥰

ChiaraMontague · 10/06/2026 08:47

Happy Birthday @RatherTardy and what a great way to kick off celebrations with all those compliments!

Question for anyone in maintenance - have you reduced your dose and if so, how long did you spend at each decreasing dose before moving down again? I reduced from 10mg to 7.5mg 6 weeks ago and I think I could probably reduce again but I’m nervous!
I’ve got another 7.5mg pen in the fridge so thought I could always try taking 5mg from that and seeing how I react, if I start gaining I can do a higher dose. Or maybe I’ll try to consolidate for 3 months on 7.5mg before reducing again. Argh!

Gingercar · 10/06/2026 09:19

Happy anniversary @RatherTardy

@ChiaraMontague iIm not at goal, but am titrating down. I was on 12.5 pens for 3 months, then I went onto a 15mg pen and took 10mg the first week, 9mg 10 days later and I took 8mg ten days after that. Obviously I’m going to end up way over the time limits, but the pen is in the fridge. I plan to go down a mg at a time. So far I haven’t had any difference in appetite or food noise, although I haven’t really had any loss of food noise or suppression for the whole year on MJ.

MissMogs · 10/06/2026 12:52

Well done everybody! I can’t believe we’re all hitting our MJ-versaries!

How are you deciding when you’re at goal? Did you have a set dress size, or weight, or BMI in mind? My “goal” has changed along the way. Lots of mini goals which I was pleased to hit but knew I’d keep going. Now I don’t know how far to go. I weigh less than I have since my early 20s, and my BMI is (just) in the healthy range, but I’m still a size 14. I had thought I’d look different to this at this weight. I’d thought I’d aim for a mid point BMI to give myself some wiggle room. But now I don’t know what to do! I have got loose skin, which I’m self-conscious of - particularly on my neck (turkey neck and I’m mid 40s!), and upper arms. Even lower arms, really - keep seeing wrinkles where skin is rucked up! And thighs - so no skirts above the knee for me! My face has lost all its fullness, which it needed. But I’m a bit concerned if I lose more, where will it come from? I still have an overhanging belly, but what if that doesn’t go and I just lose more muscle and end up looking like a scrawny chicken?!!
Interested to hear how others feel and what has affected your decisions…

MissMogs · 10/06/2026 12:55

fwiw it was never just about appearance for me, and I’m delighted that movement is a lot easier and I’m already working more on strength training. Just not sure whether I should be trying to lose my focus on the numbers on the scales and ease up on how strict I am with myself on eating. Problem is, I’ve never been able to do things in moderation. Either I indulge - properly! Or I have to be strict and not have those sort of things. Doesn’t help that on MJ I can manage so long as I cut things out. If I have something sugary, it’s led to more sugar cravings!

Gingercar · 10/06/2026 14:07

I’ve always said I’d like to be a 10-12. I’m currently at 28 bmi but clothes are getting loose in a size 14, occasionally I wear the odd 12. I’d be way too thin if I got to normal bmi. I’ve got big hands, feet, wrists and boobs. So I’m aiming for one more stone, and then that will probably do. I’m happy about myself as I am. So far I have lost the weight pretty evenly off everywhere (approaching 5 stones) and haven’t got any loose skin. My stomach is flat, I don’t really wobble anymore. I feel fitter and stronger.

Perhaps try to maintain for a couple of months? See if your skin shrinks back a little? See how you feel. You can always pick it up again. Concentrate on your exercise and toning. I’ve been on a very slow loss/plateau for the past two or three months, and I’m sure that’s partly why I haven’t got loose skin -everything has had chance to catch up!

SecretIrnBruDrinker · 10/06/2026 17:19

I am aiming for healthy BMI, whatever size that ends up being. The weight loss is slow but I did an hour in the gym and then an hour of walking today alone and yes it was hard work but I jogged the last bit home and still didn't need a shower! Could not have done that a year ago.

I'd been taking 20 clicks from a 5mg pen, then did two weeks of 30 then on Monday I did 40 clicks just because the snacks were creeping back in. I've had nasty diarrhoea so will be back to 30 clicks next week and iron willpower.
