Bit premature but planning on starting with Mounjaro in next week or so.

I’ve struggled with my weight for the majority of my life and despite having periods of being within the realms of ‘healthy’ weights, these have been difficult to get to and v hard to maintain. I’m now keen to sort things out, once and for all before I’m 40. (Given myself a buffer as currently 36…) 😅

@Elizabeth49 @narcASD Welcome both

I started last week thursday but decided to take the jab in night hoping it would have kicked in the following morning so for the first time in very long time,I didnt wake up feeling i need to eat.

cheekysausage123 · 01/10/2025 15:53

Of course @narcASDwelcome! Good on the appetite suppression if nothing else, also it’s early days, you’ve got this.

It is a very strange feeling @Elizabeth49I still can’t get over it… Welcome, thanks for the intro. Also on MJ here.

Had a stressful evening with one of the kids last night and often I would want to eat to sort of make myself feel better after but still no massive appetite, did have a small bag of party rings with a cuppa but that was more habit than anything else.

Can I join please? I took my first dose on monday. Feel fine and suppression has seemed to kicked in.

I have renpho scales and would 100% recommend them. Iv had mine since 2018 though so I have all my losses and gains on there for the last 7 years!! They are the second pair Iv had and if they broke Id buy more.

Retiredfinally · 01/10/2025 19:57

I’m due my first delivery of weygovy this week after procrastinating for weeks about medication
looking forward to any help and advice from this group

narcASD · 01/10/2025 21:11

@cheekysausage123 thank you! Party rings oh I remember them from my birthday as a kid.

I’m almost 48, 2 kids under 14, been overweight throughout my life and probably know more about diets than a nutritionist!

i am so bloated and uncomfortable, cant go loo properly so think ill have to start taking a fibre supplement, I can drink anymore or i’ll drown myself.

@jaelato1i am never hungry in the morning and do most of my eating from 6pm onwards. I’m really hoping to get into better habits that will last forever.

not feeling huge suppression at the moment, I’m not as hungry but think about food a lot still, can’t eat massive amounts though as I’m so bloated!
how is everyone feeling? Day 5 for me

narcASD · 01/10/2025 21:13

It certainly is. Lots of travel around the world and in the UK. Just taking things at a much slower pace

narcASD · 01/10/2025 21:50

@Retiredfinallybliss! I sadly have another 15-20 years before I can retire!

I plan to travel too, i want to lose weight so i can be healthy enough to do it 😀

RachSt12 · 01/10/2025 22:02

Thanks for everyone’s replies to my original message. I took the plunge and ordered this evening. I’ve done the ID, video and photos, so hopefully it will arrive quickly.
Im not going to think about it all too much and just get going.
My biggest downfall is snacking when I get home with the children after school. I need to snap out of it.
I started listening to the Slimpod which is really good and hopefully along side the jab it might help me.
Looking forward to being part of this group and sharing tips ☺️

I'm about to start Mounjaro tomorrow. I'm 53, 5' exactly and starting weight is 13 stone 8 lbs. Not a good look when I'm so short.

I managed to lose 3 stone a couple of years ago by eating 1100 calories a day but even then I only averaged a loss of half a pound a week and got fed up after a year of that. I'm hoping I'll feel different on Mounjaro.

narcASD · 01/10/2025 23:12

@RachSt12exciting!
yes, don’t overthink it, it’s really simple to self inject, I’m pleased I started it as the cost is keeping me from visiting Greggs for lunch!

Nandina · 01/10/2025 23:21

Do we need to change the needles in the pen every week? My pharmacist told me I'd need a box of them as well as the pen.

narcASD · 01/10/2025 23:27

@Nandinayes your order should come with spare needles, mine did and I think that’s standard, I FaceTimed my friend who’s been on it for a while and she talked me through it, it comes with instructions too but I found someone taking me through it easier.

Nandina · 01/10/2025 23:38

@narcASD Thanks, I'll have a proper read of the instructions now.

Calyx72 · 02/10/2025 07:17

Welcome all newcomers! So exciting isn’t it? I also have the constipation but I had one small whiskey with ice last night and this morning I had a bit of the runs. It was almost a relief! Still feeling suppression on morning 4. I have lost 1.8lbs (I weigh daily).

Calyx72 · 02/10/2025 07:27

2.8lbs not 1.8 sorry! Since Sunday

jaelato1 · 02/10/2025 08:45

Week one update and I have lost 5.5lbs.....I am so pleased!

Do we need to change the needles in the pen every week? My pharmacist told me I'd need a box of them as well as the pen.

Each time you buy a pen it should come with 4/5 needles. Once you have used it, you then put that needle in a a sharps bin and replace it with a new one the next time you use it.

In theory you shouldn't need to buy any spare as the pharmacy should provide enough!

UtahYellowstone · 02/10/2025 09:29

@jaelato1 5.5lbs in the first week is amazing, well done.

@Calyx72 2.8lbs is a great amount.

@RachSt12 My downfall is sitting on the sofa on the evening and snacking!!

Fashmagslag · 02/10/2025 09:47

Wk 2 day 2 now. Really not feeling like eating anything. Tried to have my usual cereal for breakfast and couldn’t face more than a couple of mouthfuls. Mindful that I’m not eating enough and not getting enough energy. Eating eggs and cheese for protein and have chick planned for tonight. I’m also eating the protein yogurt pouches from Aldi as it’s basically like baby food and easy to eat.It doesn’t help that I have the period from hell either.

Trying to up my water intake as it seems to help with the constipation. Definitely still having big suppression but weight loss seems very steady. I know it’s early days but was hoping for a woosh.

jaelato1 · 02/10/2025 10:29

@Fashmagslag Slow and steady wins the race. I believe most of weight loss in week one was deffo was water weight, I have been drinking atleast 2litres daily also incorporate 10k steps by day 5.

Noticed the food noise last night but ate fruits instead of reaching for biscuits, due for my 2nd jab tonight, fingers crossed i dont have any new side effect.

cheekysausage123 · 02/10/2025 11:15

That’s great @jaelato1!

Loving the medicinal use of whiskey @Calyx72😂 I have started on the less cool prunes… also great news on the weight loss.

Also love an evening snack @UtahYellowstoneallowing myself a little treat as stops me wanting big(ger) amounts of chocolate.

OP posts:
cheekysausage123 · 02/10/2025 11:17

Sorry missed this @Fashmagslag yes, agree, slow and steady is best, but understand your frustrations. We’ll get there together!

How much is everyone wishing to shift?

cheekysausage123 · 02/10/2025 16:29

@UtahYellowstonemy initial goal is to go from 14st 10lb to 13 stone but ultimate goal is 10 stone 10lb as that will be top end of healthy weight for my BMI… will likely reevaluate as I go though. How about you?
