October ‘25 starters

cheekysausage123 · 24/09/2025 15:58

Bit premature but planning on starting with Mounjaro in next week or so.

I’ve struggled with my weight for the majority of my life and despite having periods of being within the realms of ‘healthy’ weights, these have been difficult to get to and v hard to maintain. I’m now keen to sort things out, once and for all before I’m 40. (Given myself a buffer as currently 36…) 😅

SW: 14st 7lb
1st GW: 13st

Here for support, tips and anything else helpful along the way. 🫣

Bumping for others but also pondering.

First injection is due to be delivered today, we’re out for a date night on Fri eve so keen not to have side effects for that, so planning to jab on either Sat or Sun. Possibly Sun eve. It all feels a bit nerve wracking now it’s real, with regards to the injection administration.

There is a Sept 25 starters thread which still has people joining/ starting and on their first dose if you want to come on there? Though I’m sure other October starters will be along!

Caledoniablue · 25/09/2025 20:37

Hi OP! Can I join you? I took my first injection on Sunday so will be a week ahead of you!

Similar age to you, I'm 35 and have piled the weight on for the last 5 years since having dc. I'm only 5 ft 1 and weighed in last week at 12st 12. Hoping to get down to 9st 8 or thereabouts, ideally 9st.
I've had no side effects at all so far, got great suppression from first dose and actually struggling to get over 800 cals a day. I just started another thread asking for recommendations for supplements, collagen and biotin as well as a protein supplement seem to be working well for folks.

cheekysausage123 · 25/09/2025 20:59

Thanks @OneDayIWillLearn

The more the merrier @Caledoniablue Smile That’s great that you’re not having any side effects. Did you feel nervous before injecting? I’m quite keen to get started but a bit apprehensive, not of the injection itself, just incase I feel rough after, don’t have anything particularly important on on Monday or Tuesday next week though so fingers crossed.

I’ll check out your other read re. Supplements, thanks!

@Caledoniablue Forgot to say, it must be hard when you’re on the shorter side, I’m about 5ft6 so have kidded myself that I can carry more weight without it being obvious. Blush

(But it is obvious!)

Just started today. Got a slight headache but I think that could be the stress / excitement!

For dinner tonight we had pizza and I could only manage a quarter of it whereas normally I’d have half but actually want it all.

I’ve eaten other food today totalling 1700 cals and have done over 16.5K steps so a good day.

I’m using Chequp so if anyone wants my £50 code that would be cool.

I don’t have much to lose so if you’re similar it would be great to chat! :)

I started it today and felt v nervous. I really think my heart rate went up straight after! But it was an excitement thing rather than a side effect.

I’m wearing my Fitbit just to make sure / keep track.

cheekysausage123 · 27/09/2025 13:21

How are you doing @TerraCotter@Caledoniablue?

I’m doing my first jab tomorrow.

How are you doing @TerraCotter@Caledoniablue?

I’m doing my first jab tomorrow.

Day 3. I definitely have an almost constant dull sinus headache which is a touch annoying. But not getting the hunger pains that I used to get (a lovely menopause side effect) and I just can’t be as greedy as I would normally be.

Lost 1.7 lbs in 3 days.

Headache makes me feel thirsty which is probably a good thing.

Looking forward to reading about other people’s experiences!

cheekysausage123 · 28/09/2025 08:38

Hope you’re feeling a bit better today, yes, noted the info about drinking lots.

Took my first jab this am, went ok, no issues and just had frozen fruit, fat free Greek yog and protein granola for breakfast. Will report back.

Day 7 for me! Just weighed and lost 5.5lbs this week 🙌 first week though so I'm not expecting them all to be this big losses. Still no side effects and about to do my 2nd jab.
@TerraCotterthat's a shame about the headaches, maybe more water could help?
@cheekysausage123how are you feeling? Suppression kicked in for me almost instantly which was a nice surprise, good luck!

What is everyone eating in a day? I'm really struggling to get enough protein in, ordered some supplements though which should help as I really don't want to lose muscle mass

Calyx72 · 28/09/2025 10:12

Can I join? I had my first jab of MJ about an hour ago so Sunday 28th September but the September thread lots of people who have had 3 or 4 weeks already.

53yo female, 5’2” and 176lbs. Size 18.
my husband decided to start as a good few of his workmates are on it and losing well! So I said wait for me! Turns out lots of my colleagues are as well. Who knew Grin

Good luck and hope we can help each other! I think my hardest challenge will be drinking water. I have an 800ml bottle and will try to keep it with me all the time.

cheekysausage123 · 28/09/2025 10:19

That’s great @Caledoniablue good work!
Also keen to focus on protein as have lost weight previously and worried about loose skin/losing too quickly. I always have Tesco finest fat free Greek yogurt as like the taste and have it with frozen fruit and their protein granola. Just ordered some collagen too as a lot of the worries with MJ seem to be about hair loss and although I’m ok at the moment, I really don’t have thick hair so want to avoid loss if I can. Interesting that you say suppression kicked in quickly as I can’t tell if mine has yet (ahem, an hour after breakfast) or whether it’s a placebo. ConfusedBlush
I’m usually already looking forward to lunch or dinner.

Of course @Calyx72welcome! I’m 5ft5.5, 14 stone 9lb as of today and 36 years old. Have a few friends who have done well on the jabs and after some reflection I’m really keen to be a healthy weight, not just for vanity reasons (albeit they’re some of it!) but health concerns about heart disease etc too. Also need to focus on the water…

Hi all. My jab arrived on Friday so I will be starting this week. Just trying to work out which is the best day of the week is best to jab. Weekdays are my eating days as I tend to eat loads the days I work from home.

Calyx72 · 28/09/2025 11:43

Well done @Caledoniablueon the 5.5lb loss! @cheekysausage123I have been reading about the hair loss too. I am already on Elavate collagen as my hair had been thinning with perimenopause anyway. I think it has helped with that. I like the vanilla flavour in unsweetened almond milk. I am wondering about getting a protein powder as I really don’t know whether I will eat enough and I don’t want to lose muscle mass.

I don’t often eat breakfast but I want to start overnight oats for fibre. I am thinking of having them mid morning instead of first thing then I would not eat (except for an apple and almond butter which I have already bought as I found it in Lidl yesterday!) until dinner time. Actually no I can’t have almond butter at work as a colleague has a nut allergy- just the apple unless I am at home.

@TerraCotterI hope drinking water helps with your headache- I recommend electrolytes as that helps me (when I used to do fasting, before I started the jab) - I like Phizz ones.

Glad you did it; it is nerve wracking in a weird way!

Nice weight loss! It doesn’t seem too OTT so it may continue on that trajectory which is super-motivating.

Headaches: I’m drinking lots; I usually do as I’m a guzzler!!

I’m also not reaching the protein target most days but am trying to increase my lean meat intake. I walk a lot so I’m hoping the muscle I have will stay put.

Calyx72 · 28/09/2025 14:19

My husband just came in and had a protein yogurt with dried cranberries. He said he was a little hungry. I am not hungry at all. We both had breakfast before the jag this morning, brown roll with lorne sausage. I have had 2 x 800ml bottles of water so far (one with the Phizz electrolytes).

Actually no idea what to have for dinner and my husband can never think of anything when he isn’t hungry. I hope that one healthy habit that I learn will be meal planning! I think I will get chicken and vegetables and make soup with them.

cheekysausage123 · 28/09/2025 16:08

@Calyx72we’re on roast chicken for dinner this eve, strange prepping food when I’m not particularly hungry for it. Have eaten a reasonable amount today but not as excessive as usual I guess. Btw love a lorne sausage!

Also a guzzler @TerraCotter😂

Hi everyone, I just posted on a seperate post but might join here.
I’m thinking about starting, im so nervous! Where have you guys purchased from?
I’m just looking at the price comparison link.
Along side the jabs is it recommended to eat a low card, high protein diet with lots of water?
How do the jabs work? Do you get 4 in a pack and you inject once a week? Then you purchase the next mg up?
Any recommendations of supplements? I saw a few comments about hair loss.

sorry lots of questions!

jaelato1 · 28/09/2025 21:28

I had my first 2.5 injection last Thursday, and I can definitely feel the appetite suppression, I’m not snacking at all. I experienced a headache and some tiredness in the first 24 hours, but overall I’m feeling great now. Even though I’m only eating small portions, my energy levels feel surprisingly high. I’ve been focusing on adding plenty of protein to my meals, which keeps me full, and I’m also drinking lots of water.

Got mine via the my London pharmacy using the comparison site. Yes to the food/water recommendation.
Yes, four jabs in a pen, inject a jab per week, check out YouTube video on how to inject, really simple and you won't feel a thing.
I think people that lose hair are the people that rapidly lose weight. I'll recommend a collagen supplement

Fashmagslag · 28/09/2025 23:59

Started last week but feel too late for the Sep starters so joining here. Gained a ton of weight since I had DC so finally trying the injections. Got about 5 stone to lose. Am also mid menopause.

No big side effects. Felt very sleepy first 24 hours, slight nausea and a dull headache which went after about 2 days. Definitely appetite suppression kicked in from day 1. Now coming up to next injection it feels like it’s tailing off so find I’m eating more last day or so. Still overall eating less but eating what I fancy.

I do feel like this is what is going to work for me. I’ll report back on week one weight loss when I weigh in Tuesday.

Fashmagslag · 29/09/2025 00:02

To add, got mine from a pharmacy I found on a comparison site. As pp I watched a YouTube tutorial on how to prep pen and inject.

also yes to collagen supplement and protein supplement (putting mine in smoothies) as well as creatine. Keeping up my long dog walks but will be adding weight training too. Eating lots of yoghurts, cheese and chicken.

Calyx72 · 29/09/2025 08:50

Morning all. Hope we all slept well. Second day for me. I felt tired by 9pm yesterday but managed to stay up till half 10pm. But was awake by 4am for a wee! I have started another thread on here as my period has started a week early and I don’t know if it’s because of the jag - surely it can’t be as it was just about 20 hours since the injection. MyLondon Pharmacy’s clinician email did say it can affect progesterone absorption leading to risks though.

I had 1245 calories yesterday and lost 0.2lbs (I weigh daily, I have Renpho scales and like the graphs). I think the ‘period bloat’ must be stopping any water weight loss my first day.
