Bit premature but planning on starting with Mounjaro in next week or so.

I’ve struggled with my weight for the majority of my life and despite having periods of being within the realms of ‘healthy’ weights, these have been difficult to get to and v hard to maintain. I’m now keen to sort things out, once and for all before I’m 40. (Given myself a buffer as currently 36…) 😅

Am I the only one that sticks to same pharmacy on prescription basis then? I just checked their 5mg and its almost £50 cheaper to the one I just ordered 🙀
The only reason I am stuck with current pharmacy is because they also do maintenance (even when at healthy BMI). Do you have to go through the whole form and picture process everytime you use new pharmacy? if yes, dont think I can be arsed lol

Yes you do. They need to see your last prescription from previous supplier too.

Who are you with that does the maintenance?

Clumsykitten · 11/11/2025 19:51

Elliebearblues · 11/11/2025 18:58

You’re doing fab I’ve lost a measly 6.6lbs in 5 weeks. I’ve not been doing my usual steps or gym though due to a bug and virus so even losing weight I suppose is a bonus as I’m not active at all for the moment x

Yeah, I’ve realised I was talking a load of rubbish!😅 because 6.6lbs in 5 weeks is actually really good too. I think it’s the kilograms that was confusing me, because we all know we should be aiming for 1-2lbs each week… that’s only 400-800g per week!

jaelato1 · 11/11/2025 20:14

@StrongLikeMamma I am with myLondon Pharmacy. They prescribe for BMIs as low as 21 on maintenance. I have read how people who switch providers sometimes struggles to get a pharmacy to prescribe them MJ when they are below the BMI of 27 which was why I went the monthly prescription route but I dont know if my reason is still valid now.

jaelato1 · 11/11/2025 20:18

How many grams of carbs are you all eating in a day? I currently eat 60-80g (used to be 100-120g) on a 1000 - 1200 kcal but I dont know if I am consuming too much, just enough or too little?

I change every time just to try and keep prices as low as possible but also see the sense in your strategy, my BMI is still a bit above 30 but I intend to switch to a provider that will do maintenance too once I’m closer to that.

Sounds sensible.
Still BMI 29 here.

Clumsykitten · 12/11/2025 08:11

Hmmm. I’ve definitely noticed the 5mg this morning. Acid reflux and feeling just dog tired like my bones are too heavy!

Hopefully it will wear off. Has anyone tried splitting the dose (eg still doing 5mg a week but over two doses). I’m normally a very “take as prescribed” person so all the chat about changing stuff has passed me by.

Meandmypooch · 12/11/2025 08:59

Elliebearblues · 11/11/2025 18:55

Amazing, I’d say if you’re feeling fine and having good losses which you are I’d stay on 2.5mg x

As you say 'amazing!' can't believe how well it's going,
I did pig out on bonfire night though with red wine, baked potatoes, toffee apples, parkin etc and was dreading the weigh in on Monday morning but amazingly I lost 2kg! the best I'd lost since week one, crazy!

It is really useful to hear your experience on this even though I have a bit longer before I move to 5mg that’s already in the fridge.

I’m doing jab 4 next and debating about doing it tomorrow am or pm - I wanted to move it to Thursday in any case and I can feel last jab (Friday am) is wearing off today as I woke up feeling a little hungry whereas on days 2-4, I didn’t.

I hope you feel better as the day goes on, though from the Shotsy app it seems as though levels increase over the first 36 hours of a jab cycle before they drop, so I guess it may be later tomorrow before you reach that point?

Juststarting12 · 12/11/2025 10:19

I haven’t been on for a while so catching up now, huge well done to everyone on their losses.
I am coming up to week 5 and 11lb down however I had a week away where I didn’t jab & ate / drank like normal, I didn’t gain any weight that week but didn’t lose either.

I ordered another 2.5 pen but wish I’d gone up because since I’ve been back (2 weeks) I’ve barely felt any suppression so I have tried 3.75 this morning and hoping for minimal side effects and some suppression 🤞🏽

This is how I feel on 2.5 for 3-4 days.

HighlyUnusual · 12/11/2025 15:00

I am hoping this side-effect wears off (the heaviness and complete exhaustion) because I'm struggling with it, without that much appetite suppression, although it has been better since 5mg. I can't work f/t in a highly demanding job feeling this bad 3/4 days a week so I'm hoping it's just that initial settling period and it will get better. It did with Wegovy I remember, but I did come off it eventually due to being fed up with being tired all the time.

Clumsykitten · 12/11/2025 15:24

Actually now I’m thinking of it, this is the same feeling as week 1 at 2.5mg, it must be my body getting used to it.

@HighlyUnusual- I agree it’s really tricky trying to power through with work, my body and brain are complaining today!

@StrongLikeMamma- I did the first week or two, but less the last couple of weeks I think.

@putthehamsterbackinitscage, I’m seriously considering moving my day too! Although I’m not sure when to!

jaelato1 · 12/11/2025 15:54

@HighlyUnusual I have found Magnesium Glycinate 3-in-1 has helped me improve my energy level as I also started feeling very tired last month. I take the nutrition geek one

Dwellernf · 12/11/2025 16:56

Really concerned it is not working for me. I am starting my 3rd round of MJ so week 9. I've decided to stick on 5mg up to new year a I really don't want it to ruin my xmas dinner!! I have only lost 7lbs in the 8 weeks. I have done shake diets before and lost over 4lb a week on those but decided I need to wean myself off of those types of 'food' and eat proper food while loosing. I am lucky to have had absolutely no side effects but is that because it is not working properly? Or is very slow and steady the best way? Appetite is slightly less but I still want my half bottle of wine in the evening after work! I don't want to stop that as I do enjoy it and it is my relaxation. I am fairly active, looking after horses, walking dogs etc each day. Maybe I am just destined to be larger?! I was a chubby toddler and a fat child so is it just me?!

While my stomach issues and sulfer burps have gone I’ve got awful acid reflux today also on 5mg 😩 x

Wow your weight loss is great so far. I only had supression the first week on 2.5mg that’s why I moved up to 5mg nearly 3 weeks ago. The supression is definitely back x

Elliebearblues · 12/11/2025 17:09

Hi all, I’ve done 2 weeks nearly on 5ml and think I’m over the worst. Today I have awful acid reflux though 😩. Still trying to get over this cough which is a killer and stopping me from getting back into the gym as sometimes I’m literally choking a sim coughing so much.

I was going to move my jab to Wednesday evenings as I was I wasn’t well the last 2 weekends after jabbing on a Friday but the supression is still strong. I’ve only had a chicken sandwich for lunch about 12pm and I’m still full at 5pm. There’s no way I can jab and can’t extra supression so I’ll keep to the Friday, I’m amazed the supression has lasted this long to be honest x

jaelato1 · 12/11/2025 17:14

@Dwellernf I honestly think that is a good loss, healthy and easy to maintain losses should be 1-2lb per week and especially with you having 1/2 a bottle wine in the evenings. I'll say you're good and wouldn't worry.

@Elliebearblues Glad to hear you over the worst and the suppression has finally fully kicked in x

That's a steady loss, nothing wrong with that! Do you know your BMR/TDEE and make sure you eat your calories within that?

The reason people lose so much on shake diets is because they are essentially just super low calories. So you lose at a fast rate because you're in a big deficit. They don't teach you how to eat well within your calories deficit which is super important for the long term.

Half a bottle of wine is around 300 calories, so if you are shorter (not sure how tall you are!) you might be using 1/4 to 1/5 of your calories on just that wine. Something to consider as it's empty calories (not saying cut it out totally, perhaps just reduce it down if you want to see quicker results).

I don't believe in "destined to be chubby" - it may be harder for some people to lose weight and keep it off, but if you're losing at the rate you are it's definitely possible to keep losing for quite some time at that rate. Keep at it!

I'm only 5ft! Currently weighing 14.7... started at 15 so there is a loss. Indigestion is out of this world though! I am still doing the shakes for breakfast and lunch as they are the only things that don't give me indigestion. Toast, sandwich even prawn salad is horrific during the day. Wine is fine though!!

DakotaFanny · 12/11/2025 20:54

@Dwellernf I’ve just watched a video of someone who’s lost stones on MJ saying that when he drinks alcohol it switches the food noise back on for two days. He says he’s given up enough already to be willing to quit drinking with friends on a Saturday night, but that in doing so he knows he won’t feel the magic effects of MJ again until Monday or Tuesday. Lots of people commenting in agreement.

Can’t say I’ve noticed this when I’ve drunk but I’m beginning to wonder if I’m just full stop crap at listening to my own body!

Hope this is useful, or at least interesting, info.

I’m a low loser and in 5 weeks have lost 6.6lbs, but I’m still having my wine on the weekend and not counting calories and lately haven't been really exercising due to illness so I suppose it’s a win by there.

sorry to hear the side effects are catching up with you I must have had them all by now and it’s exhausting. I’d definitely stick with 5mg if your losing weight and have supression x

Very interesting 🤔 I have a few glasses of wine on the weekend but not enough to get drunk, I can’t say it’s made a difference in me feeling the supression though x
