Mounjaro Starters Nov ‘24 Thread 14 - The one where for the first time, ALL of our Winter coats do up 🤗

Mounjaropen · 23/09/2025 21:06

Welcome to thread 14!

Link to our last thread here:

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight-loss-injections/5394264-mounjaro-starters-nov-24-thread-13-the-one-where-we-are-lucky-to-end-our-best-summer-in-years-thinner-and-more-comfortable-in-our-own-skin?page=40

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we enter Autumn knowing that ALL of our Winter coats will do up 🥰

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones, maintenance and new stone brackets!

I’m on W47 D2 and on w2 of my second titrating down pen of 5.0mg

F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 9st 7.0lbs
GW 9st 0lb

Total loss so far 61.0 lbs (at 9st 6.0)

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Talking of the wool packs.
I have saved mine up and handed them into Cats protection near me to be used as cosy bedding.

I had some previously from Fortnum food deliveries in lockdown. I saved them and use them whenever I take food that needs to be kept hot or cold - DH’s friends are not blessed with culinary wives..so even if I’m not hosting I seem to be the one bringing at least two dishes with me. I used the last couple to stuff my chimney (it’s breathable so won’t create damp but stops any more pigeon related issues like I had earlier this month)

I know! Last winter was all about being able to zip up our winter coats and this winter is about getting into normal knee high winter boots. I easily put on some old Hunter wellies last week that belonged to my daughter which had been languishing at the back of the shoe cupboard for years. My calves had previously been too fat to get them on. They are mine now 😂

Thats a lovely thing to do @lovealongbath I have composted mine and use some to protect my dahlias

Edited

There’s nothing like Hunter wellies to make you feel depressed about your legs is there? I moved to Le Chameau on the advice of my neighbour and they are hands down infinitely better - more malleable rubber and the neoprene lining keeps my feet toasty on the dog walk.

update from me… still at 133lbs despite tennis, pvolve, treadmill, dog walks and clean eating. I do have a massive hangover this morning from a very boozy dinner last night with DH… the new Guccis got another outing and I wore my lovely new pleather dress which did look very flattering. Coupled with my new burgundy coat, I was very 50 shades of Burgundy 🤣 DH actually said ‘ooh look at you with your Jennifer Anniston arms’ (Reader, they are much improved, but still have more than a hint of ‘1970’s Dinner lady’ about them 😂)

I’m making homemade smash burgers and chips later as a treat for DH. I shall have mine bunless. Then I’m planning to upload more stock to Vinted whilst he watches The world rugby cup final. Or I might just sit down in something cosy and continue my rewatch of Damages with a glass of wine.

Realise I haven't checked my stats in for a while and since Saturday is my official weigh day (although I am always lowest around Wednesday In-week) here goes:

W46 D1
SW 16st 4
CW 10st 6
GW 10st(ish)
Total loss 5st 12
BMI 25.1

I had my first "Don't lose any more" comment recently. My mother is getting through her 5mg pen stockpile and then will be transitioning to Wegovy. I'm sticking with the MJ (it's working for me) and just had a 12.5 pen arrive to start titrating down when I finish the 15s I've got waiting in the fridge.

I've got my annual checkup coming up in October half term, hopefully with the nurse practitioner who mentioned MJ to me in the first place. I might take her a card to say thank you!

SerenePeer · 27/09/2025 10:31

Thanks @magnoliatreepetals and @Mounjaropen - pretty much back to normal now thankfully but the earache was most unwelcome. Particularly with flights to and from London this week 😭 Thank goodness for lemsip!

A great big hurrah to zipping up knee high boots though! Im delighted that mine are a bit baggy around the calves now as this time last year I feared I was risking gangrene and amputation they were so tight! 🙈

Alas 2 butter soft leather pencil skirts are now also too big and I missed my window to wear them as I think that was probably about 10 - 12 lbs ago 😭 Are leather skirts easy to have altered does anyone know? One was a gift from dh and I would love to wear it this winter.

Loving the idea of wool packs as the "if you know" nod!
the puffin pack people will pay delivery if you have 6 or more to return - I stuck about 8 in an old Amazon bag & the postie came to collect it. Very easy & glad to have reclaimed the space. (Scroll down here https://www.puffinpackaging.co.uk/faqs
)

I'm awaiting the launch party for @mounjaropen's hit best seller "The Rose Diet"

I realised yesterday that both the top & trousers I was out in that were in the "only on best behaviour/feeling good" pile a month ago (& not being worn 2 months ago) were super comfortable despite being pre-menstrual & inflated like a bloody balloon 🎈 and shocker upon shocker my mother didn't comment on my body 🎉 hair yes 😩 but not body!

I have also accepted I really really need new bras - my pre MJ ones are hoiked up so high they’re peeping over even quite modest necklines 🤣 now to move some investments to pay for the bloody things...

Can I ask what you tried? Please don’t say Obagi?!

Like others, I’m down a shoe size. Also used to think I have wide feet and really don’t think I do… I used to be quite embarrassed in shoe shops in the old days as I love tight knee high boots and often they didn’t zip up at the ankle 🥲 As a teen girl it wasn’t nice, also because they didn’t do a variety of shoe and calf fits then like they do now… either you fitted or you couldn’t wear boots!

I used to use a serum from Ren, as they were kind to my skin, but they discontinued what I used and then introduced a different anti-aging serum. I'm sure that's what kick started the problem. They have now shut down as a business. So I am waiting to see the dermatologist before introducing anything new to replace the serum.

MagnoliaTreePetals · 27/09/2025 10:51

@Mounjaropen re the Hunter boots V le Chameau, DH got horrendous blisters with Hunter, so I got him Le Chameau for Christmas and they have been a great success. They also do fantastic wellie boot carriers for going in the car, less mud in the car, neater to store in the house & puppies aren't tempted to chew them!

ExtraOnions · 27/09/2025 11:46

I’m up towards almost 6 stone now. I’m moving from MJ to WG - it’s not just the money, the side effects of the MJ have just been getting too much, and made me completly miserable. Hoping the WG shift will help with that. Decided to start on the lowest dose, so we’ll just have to see how it goes.

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 27/09/2025 14:58

Oh @BlueWalker i feel a BMI 25 klaxon coming up shortly 🤞🏻

I've fashioned two cat beds out of them for my cat so far. Soon she'll have a bed in every room of the house. She loves it!

I have mine sitting in a pile in the kitchen, waiting to put on plants to protect them over winter. It never occurred to me that people might realise what they are from!
On our trip to Portugal there were 3 other people in our group of only 7 who were on WLI's. So there was lots of happy chat and positive feedback, especially from 2 of the men. I am hoping that has influenced DH and that he might decide to start on MJ, but he will take a while to come round to the idea.
He is a needle-phobe, but when I showed him the needle this morning, he had to agree that it is remarkably tiny.

jay55 · 28/09/2025 09:42

I’m jealous of the boot and wellie wearers. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to wear anything higher than my ankles.

Holiday weight still slipping off, am just .7 above my low now so it’s back in sight.

Am going out for a roast today maybe even some rose.

Anyone else having food dilemmas? I think my brain rejects salad as soon as the evenings start getting dark, but it’s not soup weather yet. And I’m just not fancying anything. I walked round M&S yesterday and couldn’t imagine myself eating any of the options, it was weird.

You’ll get there with the boots, keep going! 💪🏻

I bloody love a salad whatever the weather. DH has to take a meeting today (overseas clients) so it’s just me and Ddog and I’m making us a roast dinner 😂 (it’s the dog’s favourite meal of the week). As it’s a Sunday, I think I’m gonna open a nice spot of champagne and continue with my vinting. My hangover has finally lifted from Friday night….🤣

I have a lovely monsoon skirt that I have barely worn as I got too big for it and now it is too big for me 😢 same as @SerenePeer i think I will get it taken in as it is a really nice suede skirt.

@jay55 keep chipping away downwards and those boots will get higher.

Roast and rose today for me as well. Full house with DC and their partners so it is the perfect excuse for a roast.

My DH is still convinced that he can continue the WL journey by himself… But at a business lunch last week one of the men he was meeting had been on MJ and had lost four stone… So I also think he is considering the situation once he is off his post operation drugs. 🤞🏻

I agree, when the piece is lovely and only likely to fetch 25 also quit on vinted, it’s worth getting taken in professionally.

Enjoy your Sunday lunch and Rose!

Oh thanks for the tip about welly carriers…. When we moved here, I actually had a carpenter build a welly box in the porch so that the mud and mess was contained to one area… it’s a disaster zone inside mind you 😂

That’s a great tip thanks for sharing that link!

Obviously all of you are invited to ‘the Fat girl thin Rose diet’ book launch party which will be held somewhere Tres classy… I’m thinking the Fumoir at Claridges maybe? We can all rock up in our sleeveless tops, close fitting dresses and our knee high boots zipped up comfortably over our much slimmer calves… Perhaps we can all fashion a handbag out of the insulation packs? 😂

Love that you wore your outfit without thinking 🙌

I recommend Panache Envy full cup if you are blessed in the Nork dept. Reasonably priced at around £35.
