Mounjaro Starters Nov ‘24 Thread 14 - The one where for the first time, ALL of our Winter coats do up 🤗

Mounjaropen · 23/09/2025 21:06

Welcome to thread 14!

Link to our last thread here:

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight-loss-injections/5394264-mounjaro-starters-nov-24-thread-13-the-one-where-we-are-lucky-to-end-our-best-summer-in-years-thinner-and-more-comfortable-in-our-own-skin?page=40

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we enter Autumn knowing that ALL of our Winter coats will do up 🥰

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones, maintenance and new stone brackets!

I’m on W47 D2 and on w2 of my second titrating down pen of 5.0mg

F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 9st 7.0lbs
GW 9st 0lb

Total loss so far 61.0 lbs (at 9st 6.0)

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

@Dreamqueen - I swear by my merino wool thermals. I am still cold but not freezing all the time!

Where do you buy these from please?

MsRumpole · 24/09/2025 21:04

Checking in - thanks for the new thread, @Mounjaropen !

@KentishMama Isn’t exercise a different experience? I am really enjoying my runs these days!

narcASD · 24/09/2025 22:23

Hi all, I’ve been reading through the thread and ordered my first pen today, stupidly I preferred the 5mg and I think to start your given 2.5, I’ve ordered with juniper, what should I do? I’ve not had my consultation yet.
thanks

LindtCurves · 24/09/2025 22:29

On the topic of coats… Can one have too many? 🤣

I used to be very sparing with coats, own maybe one formal and one snow day one. However, now my old nice ones from age 20 or so fit. I’ve bought 2 new gorgeous ones that obvs fit. And I’ve got my old size 12-14 ones from last winter that I think I can get away with.

Not even going to count the sporty/ outdoorsy ones.

Does anyone else feel like they have the perfect wardrobe now? It’s quite capsule but I totally love every piece, most of which is actually Vinted or 20 years old, and get asked ‘who are you wearing’ 🎤 daily 🤣 And ‘oh yes I love my dress too, it’s amazing isn’t it?’ is a completely unhinged response to someone complimenting your dress, right? 😇

Gosh I realise weight loss has made me completely insufferable 🙈

Hopefully they will realise you've ordered the wrong dose, and obviously tell them you need to change it if possible. If not, take half doses from it so you're still starting on 2.5 as everyone is prescribed - you risk terrible side effects otherwise.

Also checking in and from my last post on the last thread I’m not quite ready for winter coat weather yet as I’m off to a warm and rainy place next week. Today I had a massive boost to my holiday packing though when I dug out a trunk of old blouses/shirts that fit again (most are bordering on too big but not ridiculously so). I’m thrilled and glad I hadn’t chucked them - I thought I was going to have to buy loads of stuff! 🥳. I couldn’t have contemplated going to Japan this time last year but my mobility has greatly improved with nearly 5st off so I’m here for it!

Also an NSV from the weekend when I stayed in a hotel with a spa. Went for a swim and got changed, casually putting a robe on and it fitted and did up. Hurrah!

Well done to everyone collecting klaxons this week. What an amazing bunch we are and what a supportive thread this is.

@narcASD You maybe better off in the September 25 starters thread as we are all almost a year into our journeys. I did go through the auggies 24 thread and the oct 24 thread before taking the plunge as I was nervous 😂

You should contact Juniper asap. I am surprised that they will approve 5mg as someone’s first pen as that goes against all guidance

Hi there, welcome to you!

You say you ‘preferred’ 5mg? Did you think you could start on whatever dose you wanted maybe? I very much doubt that order will be fulfilled if it was your first as you’d had to have produced evidence of a previous order for the pharmacist to prescribe. Chances are that they’ll come back to you and offer 2.5mg. Or simply cancel your order. There was an article on the BBC (might have been Woman’s hour or the news I don’t recall) months ago whereby women had been prescribed more than 2.5mg to start by private WL Dr’s and had suffered some pretty severe side effects. You just don’t know if you are going to be sensitive to MJ hence why a non-therapeutic dose of 2.5mg is the starting dose. I wouldn’t panic, but as already suggested, have a read of some of the starter threads from a while ago and take some of the tips to get started. Or ask here, we can help for sure. Good luck!

Ooh yes to just slinging on the hotel robe and not wondering where the extension piece is to make it do up 😂 Hope you had a lovely spa day.

How fabulous going to Japan! When are you off?

😂 Did you read the Times article I posted yesterday? I hear you 🤣 Still it is lovely to be excited.

Had a try on of my fave coats yesterday. Some are going to have to go onto vinted as they look ridiculous. I have an obscene amount of coats tbh.

£70 up now on vinted and have sold 5 items. Loading on more today as it is pay day this weekend for a lot of people so I want to make hay whilst the sun shines! I confess I am quite nervous of waving goodbye to some pieces but I have to be remain confident that I’m going to stay at this weight. I can’t ever pass these pieces onto DD, she’s very petite and a size 6-8…

Thanks for new thread.
Ive pissed away another .5kg, so just 1.5 away from my low, which doesn’t feel too bad after a week and a half.

Hope everyone enjoying new coats, no longer thinking might as well get a scarf as they fit everyone…

Ah yes, get a scarf to disguise the fact it doesn’t do up.. a thing of the past 💪

Glad to see the weight is trickling out of you still!

Checking in on the new thread. I love we are still here almost a year later. And the successes on this page are incredible. We should all be very proud.

SW 147lbs BMI 30
CW 111.5lbs BMI 22.8

i did 30 weeks on MJ and then stopped due to stomach issues. I have been off MJ for over 13 weeks and maintained weight loss. Always happy to answer any questions on coming off MJ and my experiences.

You are doing so well! Thanks for coming back to help with maintenance!

Bought two tubs of celebrations yesterday (£3.95 Tesco Clubcard price) and put them away for Xmas (hid them from DH) didn’t bat an eyelid. Last year.. different story 😂

My rab deep cover down parka is now way too big. I remember last year when I had lost enough weight to be able to easily use the zip without having to breathe in and then again when I could swish the coat around me with hands in pockets. Now there is plenty of room - don’t know whether to laugh or cry. I will have to ask DH for another one

Enjoy the feeling! I think I’m right in recalling that@jasontindallstan original objective was to do up their puffer coat comfortably. Now look at us all! Was it you that wanted to be able to see their pubes in the bath? (I loved that NSV 😂)

My current Vinted search is for a new coat and I’m reluctantly going to post last year’s coat up. It was a plus size coat so I can’t find a smaller version but I loved it so much last year. Hopefully I will feel the same way when I find its replacement.

Is it worth getting altered? Hope you find another one.

If it helps, don’t just follow the vinted suggested price if you are waving goodbye to it. I’ve sold stuff for more than Vinted suggested and very quickly.

Checking in. Thank you @Mounjaropen for the new thread & great title.

Does anyone else really feel the cold? At this time last year I hadn't started MJ yet and this overwhelming feeling of cold is really not pleasant. I keep reminding myself that being cold is a good tradeoff for being 3st lighter.
Great loss @montston
@Mounjaropen selling on Vinted is addictive. Surprisingly stuff that I thought wouldn't sell have been among the fastest sellers, so stick everything on there. It's amazing how fast the kitty grows.

I was very cold yesterday, but I think it was significantly cooler than recent months? By the mid afternoon it was a different season 😂

I’m definitely now addicted to selling… neck lift here we come 🤣

Hello lovely death-jabbers! In response to the feeling the cold comments, I felt I really did initially last year but much less so now. Mind you it’s not really cold at night yet, so we’ll see! Maybe I’ll be getting myself a massive duvet coat this year.

I have dug out some beautiful Prada boots I bought at one of those London warehouse sample sales decades ago. I used to wear them ALL the time, then they gradually fell out of fashion and weren’t practical to chase toddlers in, and then my calves got too big.

Well they zip up nicely again now - burgundy, long square toe, flared Louis heel. And not in bad shape thanks to their dust bags. I am tempted to look up how much full restoration would cost on The Seam. (I am obsessed with their repair videos…)

Ooh they sound lush. Off to watch The Seam… 🤣

Can't believe we are so close to our year anniversary, I'm sure like me plenty started at the start of November! This time last year I'd never heard of MJ and it was on Mumsnet mid October I first read about it and thought ' oh, imagine if it's really that good'. I have reduced from 11mh to 8 5mg after a bad stomach for 4 days 2 weeks ago. I've 7kg to go to goal and am hoping to get as close as poss by Xmas. Loving all your fashion chat, I've yet to get my old winter coat out, hoping to get another year out of it for school - playground duty and beach trips mainly - but have a fab faux fur for the weekends I had always fancied and treated myself to in the post Xmas sales ❤️

I know! This time last year we were ‘shall I just wait until after Xmas?’ Only to find it was the happiest Xmas ever not just stuffing ourselves silly. So happy nearly a year on that I took the plunge.

Hope the coat fits!

Hello hello!

SW 100 kg, CW 68 kg, BMI 22.5 or so.

I'm feeling so good now - this must be my happy weight. So this is where I'm planning to stay :)

I've finally started to exercise now. Better late than never, right? I'm doing a Deep Aqua and a Pilates class every week. It's pretty insane how much easier it is to exercise when you're a normal weight. Really enjoying myself.

I also need a new coat. I've not quite figured out what style though. I think a wool coat is needed, but I don't like double breasted styles, and also not a huge fan of belts... plus, coats seem to be very long this year. I probably need to try on a bunch of coats to see what feels right.

👋 Well done!

Welcome to the ‘I love exercise now’ gang. Who knew? 😂

Definitely try on lots of different styles, you’ll find what works for you. Have fun doing it!

Good morning folks!

Weekly weigh in on 4.8mg dose
week 45
SW 18st 4.3lbs
CW 14st 4.6lbs

I have lost 22% of my starting weight
SBMI 43
CBMI 34.3

It’s been 2 weeks since I checked in, I seemed to have plateaued for the past 6 weeks. I read an interesting article so I will keep soldiering on. In the past I probably would have given up but have too much of a stock pile to even consider that 🤣

https://www.secondnature.io/guides/mind/motivation/weight-loss-plateaus-explained

Loving the thread title as I too, have new coats that zip up very comfortably , size 18 instead of last years size 24!

We can do this 💪

Plenty of people last night on the Oushk live were confessing to a six month stock pile. @lovealongbath

I am okay with my stockpile - got 310 and 37.5 which I hope will see me reach a bmi of 25 and into maintenance.

interestingly Oushk don’t know when the new design pens will come in which remove the 5th dose. I guess I will then buy higher dose pens with the intention of getting six or seven weeks out of them

Goldleafcat · 25/09/2025 10:42

Checking in on the new thread!
Thanks as always @Mounjaropen for keeping us motivated and bringing such a lovely and supportive vibe to this group

I’m back into the 5 stone loss category (phew) despite it being period week (and I am braving some period knickers for the first time today, mildly terrified it’ll end in disaster but it’s been raging for a good few days now so hopefully it’s calmer and less likely to cause havoc) (at the very least on a slightly less biblical scale anyway) (sorry tmi!).

I absolutely agree this is such an appropriate thread title! I also have an obscene amount of coats and jackets, it wasn’t by design, and yet here we are. I distinctly remember realising that none of my winter / warmer coats would fit during a chilly week last September and I had to panic buy something in White Stuff (which to be fair did work out to be a good buy as I wore it a fair bit) (and this reminds me I must dig it out and get it on Vinted!). I love coats and jackets too. Probably my favourite type of garment I think!

@TheSlimmingPumpkin Ooh you are a temptress! After finding my trusted size 18 M&S sporty leggings I wear to Pilates are now flapping about sadly (so embarrassed yesterday!) I’ve gone to look at the Sweaty Betty sale and have ordered some leggings and a sports bra. Not sure if L (14) was the right decision but XL was 16-18 which I think may be too big. I have some TU and snag leggings which are clinging on and will hopefully tide me through till the SBs fit 🤞

Oh @RayonSunrise I’m still experiencing hair loss. I don’t think it’s noticeable to anyone but me (yet) (potentially my poor DH and DS who are plagued by hair all over the house and occasionally in food! 🤦‍♀️). I bit the bullet and started oral minoxidil through Hair & Me. Not sure it’s really doing anything (it’s a low dose) but one can live in hope. I’m also chugging the collagen dust. I’ve also been using nioxin shampoo and other products. Haven’t had my hair highlighted or cut since April (wanted to leave it alone really) but am braving getting it done tomorrow afternoon. I would recommend the LED mask, I was very good at using the anti blemish mode (Shark) on my spot prone skin earlier this year, then have failed miserably in keeping it up and have had to resort back to the dreaded acne cream from the GP as a result! So it’s back to trying to use it daily again as it did make a difference for me.

Now, I really shouldn’t be considering anything like this because of having to shell out a horrible amount of money to get our hot water sorted (£2k 😭), but are any of you ladies tempted by the beauty advent calendars this year? I have had a look at quite a few and my favourites are Harrods, Liberty’s and Space NK. Never had such a high end calendar before though and it really is an indulgence. My favourite for the contents is Harrods, but the calendar itself looks a bit drab, and I love the look (and bag) of Liberty’s.

I should just sit on my hands and resist!

You’ve just reminded me, the last 3 pens I got from Boots (when they let me order an extra 2 at the old price) have included 5 needles, rather than just 4. It’s always just been 4 in the past. Not sure if coincidence or they are trying to be helpful in a roundabout way?!
