Welcome to thread 14!

Link to our last thread here:

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight-loss-injections/5394264-mounjaro-starters-nov-24-thread-13-the-one-where-we-are-lucky-to-end-our-best-summer-in-years-thinner-and-more-comfortable-in-our-own-skin?page=40

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we enter Autumn knowing that ALL of our Winter coats will do up 🥰

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones, maintenance and new stone brackets!

I’m on W47 D2 and on w2 of my second titrating down pen of 5.0mg

F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 9st 7.0lbs
GW 9st 0lb

Total loss so far 61.0 lbs (at 9st 6.0)

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

I'm working on ignoring the beauty advents this year as my backlog of toiletries is far beyond ridiculous. But I've had the John Lewis one before and loved it. And the Diptyque and Jo Loves before that. I'm a big fan of treating myself!
This year I'm trying to stick to just the Bonne Maman 'jamvent calendar' (why yes I did make that up) because it's both brilliant and a bit ridiculous.

Love jamvent 😂

I love following this thread, it is such an inspiration. I only started in may but I'm 3stone down. Not sure if anyone is interested but there’s a petition that’s being taken to parliament for reducing the price of MJ it needs 100,000 signs before it will get to parliament! I've just signed it

https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/737772

Welcome! Three stone since May is a terrific result! Do you have much more to lose to achieve your GW?

Super close to GW. Genuinely didn't think I would be here, even a few months in, I couldn't imagine losing 6st! This thread has been such a support, thank you ladies.

Ok mushiness over.

I am in exactly the same boat @KentishMama . I have used Avene/Roche Posay almost exclusively but was persuaded to try something different a few months ago and also got Peri' dermatitis. Im on a horrible cream for it which makes my skin sting. It's mostly cleared it up but if I stop using it, it comes back again. I have decided to see a private dermatologist as I know there are alternative treatments, just not on the NHS.
I am so annoyed as I know I have really sensitive skin and the Avene/Roche routine was doing just fine. I was tempted by the 'anti-aging' talk of the other product.

The only thing that really worked for me was Doxycycline 100mg for 56 days. I used Superdrug online doctor to order it as I couldn't be bothered with the faff of convincing my GP, who seems to have an aversion to prescribing anything useful. What is the cream that you are on?

@PinkArthad the exact same thing before my holiday, the stone boundary was there and then boom weight went up a kilo and a bit and didn’t reflect the effort I’d made.
Hopefully it’ll go away quickly.

I do think the shift to darker evenings has our bodies back in must store it all for winter mode sometimes.

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 26/09/2025 12:09

@Invisablepanic so so close. I will polish the klaxons in readiness for your achievement

Thank you, I'll make a note of that. Ive got Protopic 0.1%. Prescribed by an NHS dermatologist. I got back in touch with him to say I didn't like the stinging and the answer was "yes, it does do that, but keep going'! I'm only using it every other day now as it's 95% gone, nothing to see, but I can still feel it when I touch my skin. Next week I'm seeing the new Dermatologist who was recommended by a friend with the same situation, so hopefully will get a better and nicer solution. 😀

Fingers crossed for the whoosh ! I am completely plateaued at the moment at 133LBS which again doesn’t reflect how much I’ve exercised and what I’ve eaten or drunk this week. Gonna try the tried and tested Rose diet later 🤣

Oh I'd forgotten about the magical powers of rose. It was looking like quite a gin night but I might diversify!

Not the same skin complaint but I’ve had acne on and off since my teens. My favourite treatment has been oxytetracycline a couple of times a year which knocks it all on the head. When I was preggers my skin flared up and obviously I couldn’t take it then so they prescribed Duac (Benzoyl peroxide / Clindamycin) which I really don’t like because on occasion it burns my skin and if I’m not meticulous I end up bleaching towels / pillow cases. I’d like to go back to the oxytetracycline but GP is reluctant (I get it, it’s only an issue on my face so seems a bit nuclear to take antibiotics that impact whole body) (and prob zap gut health etc).

But I prefer it. 🤣

May investigate private pharmacy suggestions!

Mounjaropen · 26/09/2025 16:27

We need to add fresh figs to the 💩 list (hardly surprising given that syrup of figs was the go-to medicine when we were kids for constipation..) Tesco are doing a box of 16 for a fiver at my local branch so I bought one. DH hasn’t touched them so I thought I would. I had 4 at much today with some Parma ham. Oh dear 😂

Oh here you all are! I've been under a rock most of the last 10 days with a rotten virus so missed the start of the new thread!

Will go and catch up on all the klaxons I've missed!

MagnoliaTreePetals · 26/09/2025 17:08

Oooooh, fresh figs @Mounjaropen I absolutely love fresh figs, but I have eaten too many on occasion, and as you say, Oh Dear!

Wishing you a speedy recovery @SerenePeer . I have banished DS to his bedroom as he is streaming with virus, coughing and spluttering. DM is staying and the last thing she needs is to be laid low with a London virus. She is convinced that Dorset virus's are not as bad!!

Can I ask what you tried? Please don’t say Obagi?!

Like others, I’m down a shoe size. Also used to think I have wide feet and really don’t think I do… I used to be quite embarrassed in shoe shops in the old days as I love tight knee high boots and often they didn’t zip up at the ankle 🥲 As a teen girl it wasn’t nice, also because they didn’t do a variety of shoe and calf fits then like they do now… either you fitted or you couldn’t wear boots!

DarkForces · 27/09/2025 08:40

Hey lovely Novemberers. Has anyone else noticed that since the price hike there's less mj bingo going on? The newspaper stories seem to have died a death and we're all still living our best lives despite the ominous warnings.
My weight was stable this week, which is fine because I'm in maintenance now. I'm having far too much fun this weekend though as it's a family birthday so expecting a small bump as a consequence. On the plus side I'm getting good use out my new wardrobe! 🥳

DarkForces · 27/09/2025 09:18

And completely agree. Zipping up boots easily brings me a thrill of happiness every time. I love a good boot!

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 27/09/2025 09:19

Less bingo @DarkForces but still plenty who want to get it just to lose a stone.

Not just on MN, I even had one of my friends moaning, on a girls night out, that she has struggled to lose a stone she put on around Covid. Another said she hadn’t realised WLIs were so expensive but would love to try them. I zipped my lips as my MJ is a state secret but another friend whose woolpack bag pile I spotted at her house looked as though she would spill the beans about her MJ 😂 but didn’t.

It is really nice not to be the biggest one though. I am in the middle now of my friendship group in terms of size. It’s helpful that I have woolpack friend with her 2 stone summer weight loss as it has taken some off the heat of me. She said she had another stone to lose and I thought me too.

lovealongbath · 27/09/2025 09:24

Talking of the wool packs.
I have saved mine up and handed them into Cats protection near me to be used as cosy bedding.

I know! Last winter was all about being able to zip up our winter coats and this winter is about getting into normal knee high winter boots. I easily put on some old Hunter wellies last week that belonged to my daughter which had been languishing at the back of the shoe cupboard for years. My calves had previously been too fat to get them on. They are mine now 😂

Thats a lovely thing to do @lovealongbath I have composted mine and use some to protect my dahlias

I hear you on the boots front. I was thrilled in January to rediscover my knee high Guccis actually did up… I reckon they might actually be a bit (whisper it) baggy this season 🙌

You say that, but The Weekend section of The Times today is totally given over (including the section cover) to ‘MJ killed my sex life’ stories. DH and I had a chat about it and he did say he thought at the start it had the potential to kill the vibe ( I think I wrote about it at the time) but then that issue passed (he was very happy about it 😉)
