Mounjaropen · 23/09/2025 21:06

Welcome to thread 14!

Link to our last thread here:

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight-loss-injections/5394264-mounjaro-starters-nov-24-thread-13-the-one-where-we-are-lucky-to-end-our-best-summer-in-years-thinner-and-more-comfortable-in-our-own-skin?page=40

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we enter Autumn knowing that ALL of our Winter coats will do up 🥰

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones, maintenance and new stone brackets!

I’m on W47 D2 and on w2 of my second titrating down pen of 5.0mg

F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 9st 7.0lbs
GW 9st 0lb

Total loss so far 61.0 lbs (at 9st 6.0)

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

I love following this thread, it is such an inspiration. I only started in may but I'm 3stone down. Not sure if anyone is interested but there’s a petition that’s being taken to parliament for reducing the price of MJ it needs 100,000 signs before it will get to parliament! I've just signed it

https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/737772

Petition: Cap price hikes for privately prescribed essential medicines

Introduce a cap to prevent large, sudden price rises for privately prescribed essential medicines, such as those used to treat obesity and require the CMA to review excessive increases.

Checking in on the new thread!
Thanks as always @Mounjaropen for keeping us motivated and bringing such a lovely and supportive vibe to this group

I’m back into the 5 stone loss category (phew) despite it being period week (and I am braving some period knickers for the first time today, mildly terrified it’ll end in disaster but it’s been raging for a good few days now so hopefully it’s calmer and less likely to cause havoc) (at the very least on a slightly less biblical scale anyway) (sorry tmi!).

I absolutely agree this is such an appropriate thread title! I also have an obscene amount of coats and jackets, it wasn’t by design, and yet here we are. I distinctly remember realising that none of my winter / warmer coats would fit during a chilly week last September and I had to panic buy something in White Stuff (which to be fair did work out to be a good buy as I wore it a fair bit) (and this reminds me I must dig it out and get it on Vinted!). I love coats and jackets too. Probably my favourite type of garment I think!

@TheSlimmingPumpkin Ooh you are a temptress! After finding my trusted size 18 M&S sporty leggings I wear to Pilates are now flapping about sadly (so embarrassed yesterday!) I’ve gone to look at the Sweaty Betty sale and have ordered some leggings and a sports bra. Not sure if L (14) was the right decision but XL was 16-18 which I think may be too big. I have some TU and snag leggings which are clinging on and will hopefully tide me through till the SBs fit 🤞

Oh @RayonSunrise I’m still experiencing hair loss. I don’t think it’s noticeable to anyone but me (yet) (potentially my poor DH and DS who are plagued by hair all over the house and occasionally in food! 🤦‍♀️). I bit the bullet and started oral minoxidil through Hair & Me. Not sure it’s really doing anything (it’s a low dose) but one can live in hope. I’m also chugging the collagen dust. I’ve also been using nioxin shampoo and other products. Haven’t had my hair highlighted or cut since April (wanted to leave it alone really) but am braving getting it done tomorrow afternoon. I would recommend the LED mask, I was very good at using the anti blemish mode (Shark) on my spot prone skin earlier this year, then have failed miserably in keeping it up and have had to resort back to the dreaded acne cream from the GP as a result! So it’s back to trying to use it daily again as it did make a difference for me.

Now, I really shouldn’t be considering anything like this because of having to shell out a horrible amount of money to get our hot water sorted (£2k 😭), but are any of you ladies tempted by the beauty advent calendars this year? I have had a look at quite a few and my favourites are Harrods, Liberty’s and Space NK. Never had such a high end calendar before though and it really is an indulgence. My favourite for the contents is Harrods, but the calendar itself looks a bit drab, and I love the look (and bag) of Liberty’s.

I should just sit on my hands and resist!

I'm working on ignoring the beauty advents this year as my backlog of toiletries is far beyond ridiculous. But I've had the John Lewis one before and loved it. And the Diptyque and Jo Loves before that. I'm a big fan of treating myself!
This year I'm trying to stick to just the Bonne Maman 'jamvent calendar' (why yes I did make that up) because it's both brilliant and a bit ridiculous.

Mounjaropen · 25/09/2025 07:20

😂 Did you read the Times article I posted yesterday? I hear you 🤣 Still it is lovely to be excited.

Had a try on of my fave coats yesterday. Some are going to have to go onto vinted as they look ridiculous. I have an obscene amount of coats tbh.

£70 up now on vinted and have sold 5 items. Loading on more today as it is pay day this weekend for a lot of people so I want to make hay whilst the sun shines! I confess I am quite nervous of waving goodbye to some pieces but I have to be remain confident that I’m going to stay at this weight. I can’t ever pass these pieces onto DD, she’s very petite and a size 6-8…

Maybe I need to buy your wardrobe via Vinted and have items taken in, they sound fabulous!

In fact, I will have a couple of favourite items taken in soon. I’d rather they stay in their loving home than end up being sold off for £30 🥲

Soon enough I’ll start giving items names 😂 Mind you, my new fave coat actually has a name, and I expect others to refer to her by her name, too 😂

Like I said… insufferable

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 25/09/2025 11:25

Ooh I got DH the Bonne Maman jam marmalade calendar last year @PinkArt Love the janvent name!

Undecided upon an advent calendar this year. Obviously not getting a chocolate one but DH wants one of those and adult DS. Adult DD wants the same as mummy 🙄

I need to do run 2 of week 2 C25K now 💪🏻

Invisablepanic · 25/09/2025 12:09

Has anyone else gone down a shoe size? Before children I was a small 7 then kids pushed me up a bit and then weight gain a bit more and I was a firm 8. But now I think I'm back to a 7!

I put some items on Vinted yesterday and possibly underpriced them as they started selling before I'd even uploaded everything. Put a few more bits on today at slightly higher prices and nothing so far. Tbh I'm not bothered about them selling for a higher price, I just want some of the stuff gone! Might discount them after the weekend if they're not gone.

KentishMama · 25/09/2025 12:34

Yes, I'm also down a shoe size, from 8 to 7! I kind of thought I was imagining it, but here I am 3 new pairs of shoes later, and they're all smaller size... Funny really!

Beauty advent calendars... Just a small tale of caution. Like many of you, I massively upped my skin care game during this Mounjaro journey. Until my skin had enough of it and I got a really bad case of perioral dermatitis that required a 6-week course of antibiotics to shift.😱 I'm vary cautious now and mainly use La Roche Posay/Avene, but my Creme de la Mer is looking at me and I'd really like to use it again...

Creme de le Mer is in the Harrods calendar and it’s partially what is tempting me!

KentishMama · 25/09/2025 14:32

I adore La Mer. The Creme de la Mer (the original is super super rich, but great in Winter; the soft cream in summer) and the face oil. That's amazing. But apparently overdoing skin care is what might have triggered my skin issues, so I'm scared now!

MagnoliaTreePetals · 25/09/2025 17:42

I am in exactly the same boat @KentishMama . I have used Avene/Roche Posay almost exclusively but was persuaded to try something different a few months ago and also got Peri' dermatitis. Im on a horrible cream for it which makes my skin sting. It's mostly cleared it up but if I stop using it, it comes back again. I have decided to see a private dermatologist as I know there are alternative treatments, just not on the NHS.
I am so annoyed as I know I have really sensitive skin and the Avene/Roche routine was doing just fine. I was tempted by the 'anti-aging' talk of the other product.

PinkArt · 25/09/2025 17:44

@lovealongbath I just had success with that £30 Medexpress code you shared on an earlier thread - thank you.

Hey new thread!
Good title, I do indeed have a stunning winter coat (deep purple wool and velvet trimming) which has never really fitted, I thought I'd lose weight and instead put weight on. It now fits! If still quite snug.
It's a French brand 38, not sure if that's a 10 or 12 and I got it in a sample sale years ago.

I've had the Liberty advent calendar twice but am resisting them this year (so far).

I’ve been lucky enough to have been bought the Liberty Advent calendar for the past 5 years from DH. Lovely mix of skincare, make up, perfume and other items such as candles. Tbh, it’s become a bit of a tradition so I can’t see me asking him to switch. There’s a lovely opening thread that comes along every year which is fun to have a look at. It might not be the best value, but it is lovely.

Ooh that sounds like a fabulous coat! I popped into a local dress shop earlier and saw some lovely Essential Antwerp pieces including jackets/coats. Now constantly thinking about them 😂

I love the beauty advent calendars, though one year I went a bit crazy and bought loads so I decided to have a few years off, then DH surprised me with the Vogue one last year which was lovely. I'm trying not to even look at them this year again, as I seem unable to just buy one. I certainly don't have the will power to open them day by day either!

I haven't tried on my wool winter coat from last year, it's belted though so I'm hoping I can just cinch it tight as I've been spending a fortune on new clothes recently! I did but a new long waterproof though, I'm up north and do 2 hours worth of walking for the school run everyday so it seemed essential.

Ooh yes to just slinging on the hotel robe and not wondering where the extension piece is to make it do up 😂 Hope you had a lovely spa day.

How fabulous going to Japan! When are you off?

Japan is a bucket list trip - very excited! We go next Friday for 2 weeks 🥳.

And yes lovely spa day - I expect I’ll need another one when I get back from Japan…

Blimey, that school run will get the steps in! My skincare habit has taken a back seat as I look like the honey monster in most of my coats 😂

If you are trying retinol/vit A or Tret, it’s really important to go very slowly and buffer initially. I’m a big believer in taking time for both morning and evening routines to allow the product time to sink in…and one product doing one thing so you can identify which one is causing an issue if you have one . A product which purports to deliver retinol, hylauronic acid and a moisturiser in one step is likely to cause your skin barrier to react IMO. Hope you get it sorted. La Roche posay is excellent skin care and I always have a tube of their cicaplast repair balm in my armoury if I get a reaction, it sorts any issues quickly in my experience.

You poor thing. Have a look at The inkey list peptide moisturiser. I find it a great dupe for the Kate Sommerville Peptide cream which is the holy grail of moisturisers for me. Zelenskyy facial oil is also gentle I find.

Well I'm glad I told you all about hitting the 5 stone mark earlier in the week as my official weigh in has me gaining this week! I don't think it's a 'real' gain as I don't think that reflects the week's food or drink at all. So I'm writing this one off with a shrug, a plan to drink even more water and a hope a woosh is lurking.

well, I’m up to £77.50 now and have sold six items. Gonna load on some more later. I’ve definitely ignored the suggested prices from Vinted and gone with what I think the item is worth. I’ve already earned my speedy posting badge. 😇

I definitely feel like my feet have got smaller. And I can definitely wear heels for longer, but that’s probably a combination of the Pvolve and the fact that I am 61lbs lighter…
