Welcome to thread 14!

Link to our last thread here:

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight-loss-injections/5394264-mounjaro-starters-nov-24-thread-13-the-one-where-we-are-lucky-to-end-our-best-summer-in-years-thinner-and-more-comfortable-in-our-own-skin?page=40

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we enter Autumn knowing that ALL of our Winter coats will do up 🥰

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones, maintenance and new stone brackets!

I’m on W47 D2 and on w2 of my second titrating down pen of 5.0mg

F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 9st 7.0lbs
GW 9st 0lb

Total loss so far 61.0 lbs (at 9st 6.0)

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Does your weight usually stay very static? I fluctuate up or down by a couple of pounds on any given day, currently I'm somewhere between 9st 6lbs and 9st 9lbs but wouldn't call it a loss or gain unless I went over or under that.

I'm going down to 5mg next jab and will stay on that dose till after Christmas. I'm hoping the call of the mince pies won't be too loud.

I do fluctuate up and down between 9 st 3.5 and 9 st 6.5 - on this occasion I was 9 st 7. I know it doesn’t sound much rationally but it worried me! I’m planning on staying on 2.5mg over Dec and coming off completely in the New Year.

Totally agree with @jay55 that bodies hang on to fat in the cold!

Happy Saturday everyone!

CW 132.2lbs so back to my wedding weight 💪 (result given it was birthday week last week) but I’ve been hard at it with the exercise and diet (although the open bowl of Cadbury’s heroes left over from the birthday celebrations has been hard to resist)

Bought this dress (Burgundy obviously) in a size 10 from Matalan to put away for the festive season. I had a 30.% off Black Friday members voucher so it worked out at £31.50 which is remarkable value. Sequins aren’t the nicest quality, but I’ve learned from my Vinted exploits that sequinned stuff sells the fastest so I’ll be reselling at some point I reckon. Must be a whole load of other middle-aged magpies out there like me 😂
https://www.matalan.co.uk/clothing/little-mistress-red-sequin-midaxi-dress-by-vicky-pattison/16544073.html

i also bought these lovely silky pj’s from Tu Sainsbury’s this week. They’re lovely quality for the price (£28) but just noticed that they’re now £22.40 so I might take them back at buy them again at the lower price 😉 Bought them in a size 10, they fit really nicely.

https://tuclothing.sainsburys.co.uk/product/tuc146849470?gclsrc=aw.ds&cmpid=cpc&src=Google&med=Shopping&utm_source=Google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=22709523571&utm_term=tuc146849470&utm_content=shopping&utm_custom1=&utm_custom2=825-875-8916&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22705828559&gbraid=0AAAAADCAkB9feyPvYnVQ6mijrQaurgka8&gclid=CjwKCAiAuIDJBhBoEiwAxhgyFtBuCeZc_GquIBd3usyZNfnngmjsqSibl_aPjXWWm4EpObmwPHAZZxoC3bcQAvD_BwE

My new Pvolve equipment arrived this week - body bands and booty bands. Plus I ordered a tub of their sculpt9 protein powder replacement supplement. Apparently the equivalent of 20g of whey protein per serving but is only 5 cals. Tastes nice enough but annoyingly I can’t get access to their subscription model because I’m not in the US. The body bands/booty bands however are awesome. I’ve found muscles this week I never knew I had 🤣 It’s also good to change things up - although I did play tennis at 1•C on Thursday 🥶 I’ve also averaged 16k steps Monday - Friday this week which has helped shed the birthday weight. I’ve also cracked open the little used juicer from the pantry and made my own immunity boosting ginger shots this week instead of buying them - bought 8 x 100ml reusable glass shot bottles on Amazon (£12ish) then £2.90 on pink lady apples, 91p on fresh ginger plus 200g of dried organic acerola cherry powder (£12, but will last for ages as I only need 1/2tsp per serving) at a ratio of 3 parts apple to 1 part ginger, I got 8 shots of roughly 85ml each from the apples /ginger. Moving forward they’ll work out significantly cheaper than buying, plus no additives or preservatives required.

Boozy lunch today at a fancy local restaurant with friends. They’re staying at ours so I’ve knocked up some snacks to have later this evening to soak up the lunch booze - homemade cheese/mustard straws (maple bacon on some) some smoked mackerel pate and then I’ve got a whole load of cheese/charcuterie etc. I’ve also made a gold standard banana cinnamon loaf which I’m serving with some maple clotted cream I found in tescos this week. Sounds delicious so let’s hope it is! I’m also test driving ‘Black Forest cream’ this coming week. I shall report back as to how that is too. Suffice to say the Diet is most definitely off today!

Have a lovely weekend everyone 🥰

I can confirm from last year that black forest cream is divine! I used to sling it in my Ancient & Brave collagen hot chocolate 😜

Those pyjamas are lush @Mounjaropen are they generous or true to size? Debating whether to order a 10 or a 12....

SerenePeer · 22/11/2025 13:03

Happy weekend skinny bitches!

Just been catching up on all your loses and NSV - i absolutely love this corner of the Internet 🥰

Just home from my monthly trip to London town. Had my interview that will determine whether I'm in the redundancy pile or not, so that was fun. Then I dragged the 20-somethings to a swanky bar then on to Flat Iron for steak and chips 😋 By jove London was baltic this week though!!

Cheered myself up with a trip to Lululemon to try on running gilets. Absolutely delighted that the US size 6 fit me perfectly 👌

Then this morning I stepped on the scales to discover I'd had a massive whoosh and am now at my goal weight of 10 stone 7! Now contemplating aiming for 10 stone to see how I feel. I'm just over 5ft 7 so still well within the healthy BMI brackets. Blows my mind that I'm a healthy BMI but I think my brain is finally catching up with my actual size - I can now judge pretty well if something will fit me. Need to have another wardrobe purge though - trousers I could get away with last month now look a bit ridiculous.

Christmas as a skinny bitch really is a whole new ball game! I've been comparing photos of my face from last time this year and it honestly looks like I was hiding a steak pie in each cheek!

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 22/11/2025 14:57

That’s so true @SerenePeer the difference looking at photos of me know compared to those of the past decade is like chalk and cheese. I have been looking at some thinking wow how big was I! But I couldn’t have shifted the weight without MJ.

ooh and a goal weight klaxon for you
🔔📣🔔📣🔔📣🔔📣🔔📣🎉🥂🥂

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 22/11/2025 14:59

@Mounjaropen The Tu team are now desperately trying to work out which influencer has caused a surge in PJ buying 😂

jay55 · 22/11/2025 20:11

@SerenePeerhope you get the result you want for redundancy. And yay for small sizes in Lululemon.

My scales are not shifting, however, I’ve not jabbed for 2.5 weeks and am going to go back to 10 when I do, as that’s the lowest pen I have in the fridge. I’m actually hoping to get past my current constipation cycle before I jab again. Really thought MJ leaving my system would speed up what’s inside me leaving too.

My trousers are a lot bigger though, was puzzled this morning when I got dressed. Wish I’d been measuring myself like some of you have.

And weirdly I have an oily forehead. I have drier than dry, lizard skin usually so it’s an odd change. Rest of my face is still dry and I’ve not been wearing a hat or changed my haircare or anything.

Same here. Last Monday I weighed in at 136lbs. I was absolutely determined to get that off by the weekend. In ‘before times’ I would have been happy to be under 10stone. Daily weighing even when I don’t really want to know the number keeps me honest and accountable to myself.

Keep going 💪

Aww shopping at shops aimed at genuinely teeny women is a great NSV. 🙌 PMSL at steak pies in each cheek 😂

I’m mortified at some of the photos. My worst moment when I’d lost 5/6lbs the summer before I started on this journey I bought a bikini for a holiday 😳 DH had to tell me very gently that it might not be the most flattering. God love him, he was on dangerous territory there.. I was really put out but deep down knew he was right. 🥹

Could you extract a lower dose than 10mg maybe? Interesting what you say about digestion, I’ve noticed that I’m much more regular now I’m coming down on the doses. Looking forward to the deeply satisfying 💩returning post MJ 😂

Thanks guys. It feels a bit odd as I think we've ruled everything serious out now - results say it's not cancer, chrones, everything looked normal on the ultrasound, most blood test results have been in normal ranges - so that's very reassuring. But whatever it is is still happening, which is less reassuring.
It might just sort itself out though and be one of those weird things. I guess it makes sense that bodies might throw up some odd symptoms when they shrink by a sizeable amount.

That’s great news that nothing sinister has been revealed. But I do know how frustrating it is to be no nearer knowing what is causing the pain. After 5 months I now have an answer. I had an endoscopy last week and I have a haitus hernia and oesophagistis. The treatment will be regular use of omeprazole. I will hopefully speak to my GP this week and agree a plan. I’m relieved to have a diagnosis eventually. And nothing to do with MJ so I could have carried on taking it 🙈😂

So… I did my first photo shoot in absolutely ages. I didn’t really like the outcomes of photography/ videography last 5-10 years, always thought I looked pretty good as that’s what people told me. And then saw the final result and thought ‘shit, can someone just edit the hell out of it?’

The attached pic isn’t me but on the raw, really low effort, no major styling or makeover, ‘me just being me’ pics I’ve seen from this week… I look pretty much like this! I honestly can’t believe it 🥰🥰🥰

In addition to MJ, taking better care of my health (physical + mental) and regular weights have certainly helped… But… In my mid 30s, I’m finally at peace with myself and feel I can pull off any fashion look, even with the slightly saggy bum 😇

I can't really keep up with the thread at the moment, but wanted to check in at least!

Weight remains stable at 67.5 kg (goal weight) on 5 mg. Size 10 tops, size 12 bottoms mostly. Very happy that everything is stable despite my many work trips and work dinners over the last six weeks (two long haul, one short haul trips). Also very happy that said work trips have now given me British Airways Silver status. Smile

I've had a slightly off week, feeling exhausted and too cold and tired to exercise. Missed my swimming session on Thursday night as it was -3 degrees and I just couldn't brave the horrible cold changing room at my pool. But I've been stepping up the at-home exercises, focused on ski fitness, so lots of lunges and planks. I'm exceptionally bad at both.

Had my endocrinology review this week. Blood tests perfect. Endocrinologist ecstatic. Apparently I'm a very good responder with over 30% of body weight lost at a max dose of 5 mg. Because of my insulin resistance I'm under strict instructions to continue at this dose until at least end of next year (!), but current trials suggest end of 2028(!!!). By then more trials will have concluded, obviously, and other meds will have been approved...

DH is now about two stone down, but honestly, he's not changing what he eats - he's just eating less of the same beige crap. I feel like he's squandering an opportunity to make some real changes to his health and I'm somehow mildly resentful about that... Not sure why though. This is his journey. But I just wanted to say this out loud somewhere.

Lovely to hear from you! Fab news on the blood tests and interesting about how long a hcp thinks we can stay on MJ. Be kind to yourself about not wanting to strip off in a freezing cold changing room… I’m with you in staying warm! Great news on silver status too. At one point DH and I were silver and DD was gold (aged 9 😳) so we relied on her to sign us into the lounges 😂

My DH is about to embark on MJ. I’ve got a feeling his approach may not be dissimilar to your DH’s… 😩

Hair joy……

Last week I had to get my photo taken for a work publicity promotion.
I spent considerable time blow drying my hair, so it would appear in the photo that I actually had some.
I had to wear the company uniform which in the past I got out of as it didn’t go to a big enough size. Anyway, all dressed ready to go, looked in the mirror, and it wasn’t a good look. My nipples were clearing pointing due south.
Not a problem, I had plenty of time so would go to bra fitting shop enroute.
After the malarkey of being measured, my Percy’s are now pointing upwards and outwards, and my clothes and figure looked so much better. Whooshed up my hair, all good!

I then went to put my coat on and I got an unpleasant waft. I sniffed my coat and the sales assistant was looking at me so I said “Does my coat smell’? She did a sniff test then told me to turn around which I duly did, and I then smelt the sweet sickly odour and felt the mist falling all over me and my newly blowdried hair.
I had literally been fabreezed!!

Time was of the essence and I dashed to photoshoot.

When I saw the photos, OMG, my hair, my scalp, it’s all I could focus on. I was gutted!

For 18 months, since the time I had long, bouncy, volumous hair, I have been pondering on buying the GHD duet styler, but it’s expensive, I couldn’t justify it.
Anyway, getting to the point….
i bought it in the Black Friday sale, It’s a game changer for me. Used it twice now and my hair looks amazing, big and bouncy and not only that, I am delighted to say that because I have taken the time to dry my hair section by section. I can see loads of new hair, it’s about 2-3 inches long but it’s there.
oh Joy!
So my bald friends, if you have got this far, your hair will grow back, just be patient. 🙂

there is so much to unpack here…obviously i’m delighted about your hair regrowth and your perky norks. That’s a given. But you can’t keep us all hanging…why did your coat smell? And of what?

I am now looking up the duet styler…Think I’m in for an expensive week again 😂

I bought this coat from Top shop. Sent a picture to DD at Uni of me in it only for her to reply, “why are you dressed like the dog?” 😂

My coat smelt of food/cooking as I had left in in the kitchen whilst cooking and the smells obviously clung to my coat.

And the fabreeze flattened by lovely blow dry.

Another positive with the GHD duet styler, is it’s quite heavy so my bingo wings will get a work out too!
