Mounjaropen · 23/09/2025 21:06

Welcome to thread 14!

Link to our last thread here:

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight-loss-injections/5394264-mounjaro-starters-nov-24-thread-13-the-one-where-we-are-lucky-to-end-our-best-summer-in-years-thinner-and-more-comfortable-in-our-own-skin?page=40

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we enter Autumn knowing that ALL of our Winter coats will do up 🥰

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones, maintenance and new stone brackets!

I’m on W47 D2 and on w2 of my second titrating down pen of 5.0mg

F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 9st 7.0lbs
GW 9st 0lb

Total loss so far 61.0 lbs (at 9st 6.0)

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

I'm afraid I'm one of the short sleeve jumper naysayers Grin I can't get my head around it at all, if it's cold enough for me to wear a jumper then all of me is cold, and my arms do get very cold.

With you on the rest of it though, I do hang out in S&B and some of the responses are batshit. I remember one poster objecting to spending £2kish on a handbag when the money could be put towards a trumpet.

I was on the thread where the OP was pissed of with her 'D'P as she was going to buy herself a beauty advent calendar and he said he'd treat her to it. He ignored her warning that it would sell out soon, it sold out and then he said she should be grateful.
She was told that she shouldn't want such a frivolous lady thing and should obviously buy a cat instead.

jay55 · 20/11/2025 12:02

Short sleeved jumpers are ideal for under a coat when having to use the tube, they prevent death by boiling and death by tits frozen off.
I love style and beauty and the bonkers reactions whenever someone dares to buy a handbag.
I do love that the man bag seems to be here to stay, maybe that men spend a fortune on bags too, might eventually stop the bitchy comments. I know, I can dream (of a LV keepall under the tree):

RayonSunrise · 20/11/2025 13:16

I am ROARING over “death by boiling and death by tits frozen off.”

See? Context. But so much better than I put it. 😂

Cantbesure · 20/11/2025 13:47

Haha. I bought a few short sleeved jumpers in the run up to autumn. I wear them over a long sleeved T-shirt now it’s colder.

Goldleafcat · 20/11/2025 18:24

I do not own a short sleeved jumper due to the same anxiety about practicalities… but I do kind of like the long sleeved top underneath idea. It’s a look I would have shunned months ago (too bulky / adding layers to my already portly frame!) but now it’s something I’m thinking could work!

All the little changes that this journey has triggered. It’s incredible really.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 20/11/2025 22:38

I tend to get really irritated by the S&B responses. “Why do you care what you wear?”, “Why not try a Vivien of Holloway/Lindybop dress?”, “Have you tried Seasalt/Boden/Next?” <channels inner Jilly Cooper>

Had started taking a slightly more cavalier attitude to jabbing, until this morning when I realised I’d gone up 3lbs. Jabbed in a hurry, 10 days after the last dose. I moved down to 2.5mg the last time, and I think I need to remember that coming off MJ completely in the middle of mince pie season is not really a good idea. I do think/hope I can maintain, but there’s no point in making life difficult when I don’t have to.

I have picked up a few ‘new without tags’ long sleeved Weird Fish tops on Vinted as I now live in layers 🥶

Weighing in.

W55D7
SW: 19st 9lbs
CW:14st 02lbs
1st GW: 17st 13lbs
2nd GW 15st 4lbs
3rd GW: 13st 9lbs
TL: 5st 07lb

No change again for the official weigh in 😭 I think I've not been as on it with water as I should be this week, so I'll up that for the coming week and see if there's any change.

Latest medical news is that the blood tests following the fatty liver reveal were all normal, so that should just be a case of getting less fatty generally. And at my most recent GP appointment about the abdominal pain he said he thinks it's unlikely to be Mounjaro related, as I'd been on it for months when it started and hadn't gone up a dose recently either. We are sort of out of tests to do so agreed to leave it for a few months and to see how it feels then.

jay55 · 21/11/2025 11:35

@PinkArtthat sounds reassuring and frustrating in equal measure.
I’m certain the weather getting colder stops the losses as our fat stores try to cling on for insulation. Damn our hardy genes.

Does your weight usually stay very static? I fluctuate up or down by a couple of pounds on any given day, currently I'm somewhere between 9st 6lbs and 9st 9lbs but wouldn't call it a loss or gain unless I went over or under that.

I'm going down to 5mg next jab and will stay on that dose till after Christmas. I'm hoping the call of the mince pies won't be too loud.

I too will be facing mince pies with a 5mg pen and a careful eye on the scales.

Glad nothing too serious has been unearthed @PinkArt, but I can appreciate it’s not comfortable not having a clear answer, too! Hope things settle over that next few months.

It is COLD here today. I’m admiring the glorious sun from my work spot and geeing myself up to go for my run.

PinkArt · 21/11/2025 12:50

Thanks guys. It feels a bit odd as I think we've ruled everything serious out now - results say it's not cancer, chrones, everything looked normal on the ultrasound, most blood test results have been in normal ranges - so that's very reassuring. But whatever it is is still happening, which is less reassuring.
It might just sort itself out though and be one of those weird things. I guess it makes sense that bodies might throw up some odd symptoms when they shrink by a sizeable amount.

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 21/11/2025 16:16

That’s good news @PinkArt

Happy Celebration GIF by Altitude Films

Sweaty Betty Black Friday sale. I tried some long sleeve tops including Therma base layer and the store assistant said I should try on a medium when I popped out to ask if I could try another colour. So medium I am - skipped out of the store

Mounjaropen · 22/11/2025 07:59

Happy Saturday everyone!

CW 132.2lbs so back to my wedding weight 💪 (result given it was birthday week last week) but I’ve been hard at it with the exercise and diet (although the open bowl of Cadbury’s heroes left over from the birthday celebrations has been hard to resist)

Bought this dress (Burgundy obviously) in a size 10 from Matalan to put away for the festive season. I had a 30.% off Black Friday members voucher so it worked out at £31.50 which is remarkable value. Sequins aren’t the nicest quality, but I’ve learned from my Vinted exploits that sequinned stuff sells the fastest so I’ll be reselling at some point I reckon. Must be a whole load of other middle-aged magpies out there like me 😂
https://www.matalan.co.uk/clothing/little-mistress-red-sequin-midaxi-dress-by-vicky-pattison/16544073.html

i also bought these lovely silky pj’s from Tu Sainsbury’s this week. They’re lovely quality for the price (£28) but just noticed that they’re now £22.40 so I might take them back at buy them again at the lower price 😉 Bought them in a size 10, they fit really nicely.

My new Pvolve equipment arrived this week - body bands and booty bands. Plus I ordered a tub of their sculpt9 protein powder replacement supplement. Apparently the equivalent of 20g of whey protein per serving but is only 5 cals. Tastes nice enough but annoyingly I can’t get access to their subscription model because I’m not in the US. The body bands/booty bands however are awesome. I’ve found muscles this week I never knew I had 🤣 It’s also good to change things up - although I did play tennis at 1•C on Thursday 🥶 I’ve also averaged 16k steps Monday - Friday this week which has helped shed the birthday weight. I’ve also cracked open the little used juicer from the pantry and made my own immunity boosting ginger shots this week instead of buying them - bought 8 x 100ml reusable glass shot bottles on Amazon (£12ish) then £2.90 on pink lady apples, 91p on fresh ginger plus 200g of dried organic acerola cherry powder (£12, but will last for ages as I only need 1/2tsp per serving) at a ratio of 3 parts apple to 1 part ginger, I got 8 shots of roughly 85ml each from the apples /ginger. Moving forward they’ll work out significantly cheaper than buying, plus no additives or preservatives required.

Boozy lunch today at a fancy local restaurant with friends. They’re staying at ours so I’ve knocked up some snacks to have later this evening to soak up the lunch booze - homemade cheese/mustard straws (maple bacon on some) some smoked mackerel pate and then I’ve got a whole load of cheese/charcuterie etc. I’ve also made a gold standard banana cinnamon loaf which I’m serving with some maple clotted cream I found in tescos this week. Sounds delicious so let’s hope it is! I’m also test driving ‘Black Forest cream’ this coming week. I shall report back as to how that is too. Suffice to say the Diet is most definitely off today!

Have a lovely weekend everyone 🥰

Maintenance going ok so far. I'm hovering at the 9 stone mark, bmi 22.4 and a size 10 so I'm happy with that. Going to have to order my jab soon and decide whether to jump to wegovy to save money and se how that goes or stick to mj.

In other news I'm hating the new Vinted sizing as I fall in love then discover an item is size 8. I want to be able to filter by size 10 but it won't let me 😡.

Well done! Can you do what I’m doing and buy a higher strength pen, keep it refrigerated and eek out lower doses from it? A 5mg pen should yield me 8 doses of 2.5mg plus 2 bonus (or at least 1) doses.

Happy Saturday! Just sent the link to those pyjamas to DH - he usually buys me Christmas pjs. I spent a happy 10 mins scrutinising all the Morris print pyjamas on the Tu website and concluded that those were the nicest, although I was v tempted by the dark blue sateen pair too.
