Mounjaro Starters Nov ‘24 Thread 14 - The one where for the first time, ALL of our Winter coats do up 🤗

Mounjaropen · 23/09/2025 21:06

Welcome to thread 14!

Link to our last thread here:

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight-loss-injections/5394264-mounjaro-starters-nov-24-thread-13-the-one-where-we-are-lucky-to-end-our-best-summer-in-years-thinner-and-more-comfortable-in-our-own-skin?page=40

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we enter Autumn knowing that ALL of our Winter coats will do up 🥰

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones, maintenance and new stone brackets!

I’m on W47 D2 and on w2 of my second titrating down pen of 5.0mg

F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 9st 7.0lbs
GW 9st 0lb

Total loss so far 61.0 lbs (at 9st 6.0)

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

You are doing so well with your running. Well done. My aim is to be consistent through the winter. I think if I can run regularly in the worst of the weather then that should set me up for the rest of the year. My club does a lot of trail running though which I don’t like in the dark and wet so I need to make sure I get out by myself if I don’t make club runs.

I loved last years coat I got on Vinted but it’s too big now :(

I’m definitely an indoor exercising type of girl… shame my enormous dog doesn’t use the treadmill 😂 keep going 💪

It’s my MJ-versary today!!

I remember having it my fridge for a few days and being very anxious about taking it. And then struggling to press the plunger down once I’d stuck the needle in. Funny how routine it became after a while.

I’ve gone from a size 14 to an 8. Lost 6 inches off my waist, 7 inches off my boobs. My visceral fat has gone from 12 to 5 (I’m never sure what that measures but I know it’s taken me from having lots of fat around my organs to a much more healthy amount). My phone measured V02 max has gone from 29.8 to 39.9. My mild hypertension has gone. I’m running 2-3 times a week and have booked a half marathon for next year. My risk scores for heart attack, stroke and diabetes are low. There have just been so many positives and health benefits to starting Mounjaro.

I was on MJ for 30 weeks and been off it now for over 20 and managing to hold my weight in a steady zone.

looking back at photos from this time last year can be a bit weird. I remember feeling I had to emphasise my stomach to prove I was ‘big enough’ and worrying I wouldn’t be eligible. I definitely didn’t need to do that, at my tiny height it was very clear I was obese! What a year we have all had!

You are inspirational @Cantbesure , being on MJ for 30 weeks and then maintaining for 20 weeks is so reassuring. I worry about how I will cope when I eventually come off the medication. It’s fab to see people doing it alone and smashing it!

Goldleafcat · 19/11/2025 09:19

I did a sneaky weigh in this morning and I’ve lost another 2lbs taking me to 10 stone 8 - just 1lb away from my ‘stretch’ goal of 10 stone 7. I am now back to 1998 🤣 (ties in with fashion trends, I am wearing denim flares). Once I get there I think I need to set a new half stone goal - 10 stone.

I’ve started pondering my exit strategy from MJ. I have some pens in the fridge (15mg) and if I continue with the bonus dose (so 5 weeks from each pen) this takes me to 16 March. But, given we are only in November, I’m going to try titrating down before March, either by spacing doses or starting to reduce the dose in the pen gradually over time (perhaps both). Might have to adopt a suck it and see approach!

Ordered a 12.5mg from Oushk as part of operation scale down the doses. Think will order at least one or two more (maybe at 10mg?) and potentially move to their flexi plan?

I feel that with the strategy above I’ll have pens to keep me going till the summer!

Cantbesure · 19/11/2025 09:23

Thank you @Goldleafcat. Maintenance was an obsession of mine. I moved to oushk at BMI of 26. Booked in my maintenance call and spent days researching and worrying about it. Then I had stomach issues and odd bloods so had to come off without planning. Not at all what I had wanted. But we have all learned good habits over the last year. We know our TDEEs and our protein goals and the importance of exercise. We have invested so much and seen such amazing results that we don’t want to give that up. I do miss the help MJ gave me but I am determined not to let my hard work and investment go to waste. And being part of our thread community is a huge motivator too.

Goldleafcat · 19/11/2025 09:25

Oh and another happy update - my weird post-viral neuropathy (odd metallic taste in my mouth - making food taste horrible / off) seems to have finally gone. It’s been a gradual slow improvement but it was this weekend when I realised it has pretty much back to normal. Had a glass (or 3) of Marlborough Sauvignon blanc on Friday which tasted gorgeous (as opposed to vinegar) and I cooked a leg of lamb on Sunday which was absolutely delicious.

Honestly it’s such a relief. I was feeling quite down about it and blaming some of it on MJ when it was just the horrible suspected Covid all along. So nice to enjoy flavours properly again.

Caplin · 19/11/2025 11:16

Hello ladies, it's been a couple of weeks. I hit my MJversary, whoop! 5 1/2 stone lighter than this time last year!

However, over the last two weeks I have put on 1 1/4 lbs, despite not much changing. So I realised if I want to get rid of this final stone to get to goal, and if I am serious about managing on a lower dose (or none at all), then I need to get back to tracking and concentrating on my macros. I started back using Weight Watchers as they do a GLP-1 plan with a macro tracker and points, so it is very easy to use for me.

I have also been struggling with glossitis (sore, shiney tongue), which is hell as I love spicy food and it is agony. At first I thought it was a menopause thing, but after some googling it might be a Vit D deficiency, along with hair loss I have now added Vit D into the general mix of vitamins I now take.

So, reset at one year, concentrating on hitting the macros, getting my nutrition in order as I was being a bit useless about that, and avoiding the mindless snacking that was creeping back in. I'm determined not to go up a dose, I reckon I can do this on 6.25mg along with will power and tracking.

And on this subject of Vit D I take a spray every day from November to February I was diagnosed with very low Vitamin D levels after I was feeling lethargic - doc did blood tests I take D3 + K2 for 4 months as I read somewhere that D3 was the better D to take and K helps with absorption.

Then I just take a standard multivitamin spray which includes them the rest of the year but at a lower dose (800IU of Vit D instead of 3000IU)

Well done! Still losing 2lbs a week is fab! 10st one is totally doable. Keep going! 💪

Totally agree. This time last year I had no idea what my BMR was so TDEE was off too. Now look at us all, monitoring our macros and everything 🥰

Gosh, you poor thing, that sounds awful! But well done on the fabulous loss and your Mounjaroversary!

I’ve also been on vitamin D as well as C to aid my collagen absorption. I’m also about to start making my own ginger shots at home to help boost immunity for me and DH.

Glad you’ve found a way to keep on track. I’m a daily weigher to keep myself accountable. Plus obviously the support on here too 🥰

They also have a vitamin B complex spray which I might try.

Hurrah to everyone reaching their Mounjaroversaries this week!

@GoldleafcatI’m so glad your sense of taste has settled down and you can enjoy things again.

@jay55- so sorry for your loss. You’ve had a tough run this year. And yes to the weirdness of weight loss/looking good/funerals where you see people for the first time in a while - I had a similar experience earlier in the year with my own family bereavement. Did you watch Fleabag? There’s a joke about her turning up to her mother’s funeral when she’s absolutely poleaxed with misery but somehow looking gorgeous, and it’s the first thing anyone comments on when they see her. Funny, but also disconcerting.

@Mounjaropen- ah, S&B. I can’t help but laugh. Who are all these people who can only view style and trends through the lens of whether it’s good for walking their dog in pouring rain? Some of us like to dress for the occasion or activity, so sue me. 😂

I’ve been on Vit D for quite a while too - my GP recommended it during the pandemic, as I am now over 50 when apparently most of us benefit from boosting it. I’ve just been popping a regular pill though, I’ve not had your attention to detail! Intrigued now.

I have. Let me know what stats you need, I can look back for you.

Well… what I’m interested in understanding is what the overall “drop-off” effect is when we’re spacing out jabs. Obviously on jab day you get a full dose, then you start to drop - I’m wondering what “level” you have if you’ve stretched to 14 days between jabs, ie how much of a step down going down a pen will be?

Though I think you’ve been extracting doses and being quite precise recently, haven’t you? I do have the equipment for that, just haven’t taken the time to do it regularly.

Ok, so my doses are 7 days apart.

Annoyingly I forgot to jab on the Monday so Week 1 was taken on a Tuesday 5.0mg coming down from 7.5mg :
M4.77 T4.41 (jab day) W7.17 T7.52 F6.93 S5.82 S4.77

compare this to week 1 of 3.75mg coming down from 5.0mg
M3.32 (jab day) T5.41 W5.60 T5.15 F4.31 S3.54 S3.08

Compare to week 4 of being on 3.75
M2.64 (jab day) T4.81 W4.99 T4.58 F3.78 S3.07 S2.67

I’ve been counting clicks on the 5.0mg pen for 3.75, but will extract dose 6 using the extra needles.

If anyone else is on 2.5mg 10 or 14 days apart and has their stats, that might be useful.

Hope that helps!

Ahh yes, the old favourite - what shall I wear to a fancy afternoon tea/lunch at a top London hotel…

“wear what you like, no one dresses up in London any more, jeans are fine”
”don’t look like you are trying too hard, you don’t want to look like you are not used to going to places like that” 🙄

Or… What do you think of this dress(insert perfectly reasonable dress £75) for a dinner as my DH’s plus one for a corporate dinner? I’m on a limited budget, I don’t like showing my arms, I’m a size 14 and apple shaped, wrap dresses do not suit me as I have a large chest.

“I mean, fine if you want to look like Karen from accounts going to a job interview, what about this (link to a wrap dress from LK Bennet at twice/three times the cost)”
”Why are you worried about impressing your Husband’s colleagues? Do you think he’s having an emotional affair with a colleague?” 🤯

I also admire people who suggest a sack-like dress priced at £1500 from some obscure brand which would make anyone look like Mrs Rochester escaping from the attic 😂

Hahaha! Also, the people who can’t “
understand why short sleeved jumpers exist because “If it’s cold enough for a jumper, why does it not have a full sleeve?” I hope they never have to find out about gilets, their minds will be blown.

evilharpy · 20/11/2025 09:01

I'm afraid I'm one of the short sleeve jumper naysayers Grin I can't get my head around it at all, if it's cold enough for me to wear a jumper then all of me is cold, and my arms do get very cold.

With you on the rest of it though, I do hang out in S&B and some of the responses are batshit. I remember one poster objecting to spending £2kish on a handbag when the money could be put towards a trumpet.

RayonSunrise · 20/11/2025 10:23

I think it comes down to some clothes being about context, @evilharpy- short sleeved jumpers are for climate controlled offices, and some days in Spring and Autumn. You would opt for something else if it was REALLY cold.

But the jumper in question was a sequined Christmas party number that really was all about the look. It wasn’t my cuppa, but the idea that it needed to be practical was… interesting!

evilharpy · 20/11/2025 10:26

Oh yeah I saw that one but didn't bother replying! I thought it was quite cute but the thought that anything bearing sequins needs to be practical had me scratching my head a bit!
