Welcome to thread 14!

Link to our last thread here:

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight-loss-injections/5394264-mounjaro-starters-nov-24-thread-13-the-one-where-we-are-lucky-to-end-our-best-summer-in-years-thinner-and-more-comfortable-in-our-own-skin?page=40

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we enter Autumn knowing that ALL of our Winter coats will do up 🥰

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones, maintenance and new stone brackets!

I’m on W47 D2 and on w2 of my second titrating down pen of 5.0mg

F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 9st 7.0lbs
GW 9st 0lb

Total loss so far 61.0 lbs (at 9st 6.0)

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

I have the same issue. I considered bulldog clips round the back (or gaffer tape) to at least make them look less melty from the front angle but then thought it would render sitting even more problematic than my bony arse currently does.

Omg the bony arse is not comfortable to sit on! All the extra cushions please!

Ok ok....I wasn't going to share but I've heard good things about simply collecting the tears of your enemies and the bitterness of judgy relatives and rubbing that in. Worth a shot 😉

I'm learning to love my wrinkly thighs. They're definitely an improvement on their previous iteration

I am starting to want to live in @Mounjaropen’s wardrobe. 😂

I have to echo everyone on the exercise front, it’s the thing that builds up your shape after weight loss erodes it. It’s taken me a while to get to it too, despite me knowing that!

My pvolve kit has arrived! Now all I need is a precision mat and a sunscription…

I noticed that the precision Matt is available today on Amazon for £96. Currently, it is £118on healf (but they might price match that for you?) have fun!

I actually bought some of those invisible sticking plaster thingies which are supposed to lift your skin to give the appearance of no wrinkles for my thighs… Spoiler alert: they do not work, I might as well have sought advice from the Etsy witches 😂

Hi all, congrats on lots of lovely losses and NSVs!

I am currently in a month long stall which is super annoying. A month ago I managed to hit 91.8 (down from my Nov starting weight of 119.7) but I have been fluctuating up and down between 91.8 and 92.45 ever since.

I was on 10mg but struggling to eat much and lacked energy so I went down to 7.5mg for two doses - felt better but the scales were still not moving so went back up to 10mg for one week. Appetite suppression was better (could eat more) and energy was better but - no movement on the scales! So I went up to 12.5mg (just completed one week on it, and jabbed 12.5mg yesterday for the second week) - appetite fine, energy fine but the bloody scales are stuck!!

I'm loath to continue on 12.5mg unless I have to as the appetite suppression was fine on 10 (I only went up to see what would happen) and 12.5 is SUPER expensive here (I live in Spain).

I've read that upping water and exercise and cutting carbs can help break a stall. I was away on a work trip for a weekend during this past month and definitely ate more than my usual calories so I have tried the 'refeeding' which didn't do anything.

We did have to put our beloved dog to sleep and any big stress definitely seems to stall me. Plus I have started on low dose bioidentical HRT (in the past fortnight).

Has anyone experienced similar and have any advice?

itsnotagameshow · 07/10/2025 10:32

Also to add - I am definitely counting my calories properly so in the right deficit, perhaps changing macros helps? So less carbs, more protein?

MontyJinks · 07/10/2025 11:38

PinkArt · 06/10/2025 18:07

Guys these were NOT the kind of answers I was looking for. Some sort of nice body lotion maybe. Or a witches spell. Exercise though?! Life is soooo unfaaaaaaair.

🙋 totally here for the witches spell that banishes baggy bellies!

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 07/10/2025 11:55

I hear you @itsnotagameshow my weight loss has slowed to a snails pace. I have gone up to 12.5 by using a 10mg pen plus top up dose from a 5mg pen that’s due to expire in Feb 26. Once that is used I will be back to 10. My suppression was good at 10 but weight loss slowed I guess due to holidays & celebrations etc. I am conscious that we are weeks away from the festive season so I do need to shift weight by then. I have taken up the couch 2 5k plan in an effort to burn more calories and I am avoiding UPFs as much as possible.

I think my body is doing another set point battle and wanting to stay in the 10 stone bracket. I had a plateau at around 11 stone 7lb and trotting through the first few stone.

But at 10 stone 7lbs I finally only have a stone to go now! I will not be defeated 💪🏻

Keep Buggering On is the motto I think - I just read a very interesting article about set points which has reinspired me to plug away, apparently a plateau can last up to 12 weeks! Weight-loss plateaus explained | Weight loss tips

Sorry to hear about your dog 💔

What is your BMR? Do you know? Start there, add in your exercise/movement cals and then you need to cut it by 500 calls every day to achieve a 1lb loss in a week. It is a slog so I hear you - I’ve been bouncing around the same bloody pound for 2 months, but my MeThreeSixty scan shows that my frame is toning up - so no lbs off, but the inches are moving.,,. You will feel fuller and crave less food on a low carb/high protein diet but you need to ensure you are getting enough natural fibre from fruit and veg to keep your bowel moving. You need to be on at least 2l of plain water a day. Bread and pasta are indeed delish, but you don’t ‘need them’ You do need protein for muscle repair and satiety. If you do fancy potatoes/carbs etc then cook them and let them go cold before eating (you can reheat) because the carb structure changes on cooling which reduces the chances of an insulin spike after consumption.

Only you know how much exercise you are actually doing, but suffice to say, the cals you can add are not as many as you might think. There is evidence that doing weights before cardio increases the effectiveness of how many calories you burn/continue to burn after stopping.

Keep going!

Ah thank you re dog.

I am definitely in the right calorie deficit, logging everything on My Fitness Pal etc, I don't add in exercise calories and sometimes struggle to eat enough - suppression and calories in aren't the issue. I drink 2l water daily, sometimes 3. I've just asked Chat GPT about a meal plan with more protein, and I think I will go back to more intermittent fasting. And more exercise! But I do think this is a set point issue.

Invisablepanic · 07/10/2025 14:10

@itsnotagameshow I've had a few plateaus, not as long as a month but if install for a week or two I sometimes find I need to have a higher cal day or two, sounds odd but having a takeaway sometimes just seems to reset things.

Feels odd to deliberately eat more cals but maybe give it a try?

That's interesting, thanks for sharing that, I did have a couple of higher calorie days while away for work but some of those calories were alcohol (which I hardly touch nowadays) - I know that slows things down too as the liver processes that before fat burning. I may try a clean protein higher calorie couple of days to see.

Weighing in...
Week 6 of maintaining. Currently 12.5mg injected 11 days apart

SW 16.5
CW 11.1
TWL 5 stone 4

Surprised and delighted to have maintained again. It was a busy week: 3 days away staying at a hotel and then 2 family celebrations. I took my yoga mat and hand weights to the hotel! My husband thinks I have gone mad. Lovely walks in Derbyshire to offset the occasional glass of wine. I had convinced myself that I had put on weight, but it was all in my head.
Confident now to have a 12 day gap between jabs this time.

I spoke to my Consultant who has no concerns about extending the use of the pen as long as it is kept in the fridge and one continues to use good aseptic technique.
The plan going forwards is to slowly increase the injecting time to every 14 days while remaining on the same dose. I will then choose when to start to titrate down. I may wait until after our trip to Florence/2 weddings/2 engagement parties/Christmas/new year etc before I titrate down the doses.

Saw a friend today who I haven't seen in person for a year. She was so complimentary about my new slimline figure but also remarked that I have kept my boobs and my 'looks'. She lives in the USA and she says everyone there is on too higher a dose for too long and now look frail and gaunt! she rather naughtily said 'it's a great look for Halloween, but not for the rest of the year'!

Mounjaropen · 09/10/2025 07:30

Good morning friends! And may I add, Happy Victoria Beckham Documentary day!

Sadly, I have much on today, so I can’t see me being able to watch more than one episode ( because obviously you have to watch this one rather than glimpse occasionally whilst scrolling on a phone or you might miss a peek at David in his pants 😂)

It’s been a busy week, I wore one of my new ‘50 shades of burgundy’ for lunch on Tuesday… my belts now fit thanks to the most excellent leather hole punch recommended by @MounjNewb (very easy to use!) with a very dear friend and we had a mooch window shopping in Mayfair followed by a leisurely browse in Selfridges..and for the first time in forever, I could look at ALL of the brands, not just the ones that did a kaftan 🙌 I did actually get some compliments on my garb from other women (lovely!) and dear reader, the item which had the most compliments was this… a £15 top from Tesco… which is now £7.50 😉 showing that if you pair anything with a pair of Gucci shoes and press your clothes well, it is assumed everything else is made from hand-spun moonlit silk worms rather than 100% polyester 😂

Weight still bouncing around 133lbs but I think my muscle mass is improving so I’ll take that. Depressingly, my peloton stats for last month showed my 18 treadmill walks added up to 36.7 miles (good) and 4281 calories… which is equivalent to around 1.2lbs of fat. I accept the data far more readily now than a year ago, so I’ll take that and not be disheartened because actually the exercise has so many other benefits beyond just losing weight. Previously, I’d have assumed that this level of exercise would mean I Could eat a Macdonald’s washed down with a Sauvignon Blanc most days.. clearly not!

The weekend sees me on a fancy ‘wine safari’ (no idea) on the south coast for which ‘suitable footwear’ must be worn, so I’ve assumed that this doesn’t mean velvet slingbacks and have ordered a pair of trendy trainers (in burgundy obvs 😂)

Hope the scales are being kind to everyone!

Thanks for sharing that important piece of information about storage and extended use. I feel really rather silly now having thrown away all of those bonus doses over the past 12 months! A lesson learned in only taking advice from the manufacturer who have a vested interest in you not using everything I suppose!

Congratulations at the terrific maintenance job and for taking exercise equipment to a hotel🙌💪

@itsnotagameshow plateaus can be interesting. I am losing very slowly at the moment (have been holding at around 65.5kg for a bit), but am suddenly into some size 10 trousers I’ve not worn in years - so there is clearly still some body shape change going on. As I’m back to running again I am putting this down to my muscle mass increasing.

Delighted to hear you’re rocking high & low fashion together, @Mounjaropen- sounds like you had a lovely day out!

My precision mat arrived yesterday so now I need to subscribe to Pvolve to kick things off. Black Friday is a ways off to wait for a deal, though! I’m considering just biting the bullet.

Continuing with our mini S&B theme, I am quietly pleased to see knee boots and skirts on their way back. After a good few years of unstructured/casual/flat everything, a bit of tailoring is looking pretty fresh. And now I have a waist for it again, huzzah!

@MagnoliaTreePetals your maintenance updates are so helpful, thank you.
