A few NSVs: am on a work trip. On the first plane, I didn't need an extender belt - it's been years since that was the case and I almost cried. (On the second, smaller plane I did need the extender but still.). Have been able to do lots of walking (easily 20K steps my first day of trip) with very little knee and back pain.

One reason I started this is because I was fed up with myself after a holiday earlier this year was ruined by constant knee and back pain that made me crabby and exhausted. So it feels especially good to be here and moving.

eibbed999 · 28/08/2025 07:28

Brilliant @EverybodysALebowski - that stuff really is as important as the scales. I flew to Spain this year and didn't need one, I was grinning ear to ear. Sadly did on the way back but that was with Ryanair and they like to make you suffer!

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne - that photo is amazing. Well done, and thanks for the inspiration.

@SecretNameforMN - lots of amazing advice already on here about meds to stock up on and how to prepare for side effects, and it is a great idea to have stuff in ready to help. It also makes you feel a bit more in control at an anxious time when you're worried about taking your first dose. But it's also maybe worth saying that not everyone gets side effects, some seem to suffer and others breeze through with barely any indication. It's not a definite that you will have any side effects at all. So I think it's a case of hope for the best but plan for the worst! The positives far outweigh the negatives for most people.

I've not lost my bank holiday weight quickly enough so I'm 0.5kg heavier this week. Just back into obese and BMI 30. Hopefully be back to normal service next week.

Hello!

So despite being on a study Shemed are shifting prices so I don't have the two pens grace I thought I had.

They're encouraging a move to wegovy like many other pharmacies. I'm mixed how I feel about that.

I'll do one more month I think and then see what the prices are everywhere.

My friend has just started with SheMed and I was horrified to hear their new prices, SheMed is the most expensive on the Reddit list to date. Monj have a list they’re updating as prices are released for you to compare. Personally I wouldn’t swap to Wegovy unless I definitely couldn’t afford any of the MJ. I’d move from SheMed asap, they’re taking the mickey with their prices. Here are the links

And @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden (and any others who are with Shemed)
I often make this comment, but here it is again:

In a 15mg pen, the amount of MJ left over after you've used the first four doses is a whopping 20mg (0.8ml) which is a whole 5mg pen.

Edited

I’ve read they’re going to cut down the amount that’s left to just be enough to prime the needles. Not sure if that’s true, but I wouldn’t be surprised.

Btw you look fabulous in that photo!

Kay2000 · 28/08/2025 08:37

I just checked Zava, who I’m with currently, and they do have updated prices that haven’t found their way to Monj yet, or been emailed to current customers.

I've tentatively adjusted my goal weight and brought it up by a stone, although I suspect I'll review it a few times as I get lower. I was convinced when I started this journey that there was no point in aiming for anything less than a BMI 24. However I'm not sure its realistic or practical and I don't want to be striving for an arbitrary number just because. I think I'd like to find a comfortable weight in the 12s somewhere (I'm 176.5cms)

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 28/08/2025 08:44

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne You look amazing and I love that Jumper!

Yes I was rather unimpressed to be honest! I have done well to have only spent £99 a pen so far and knew it would end in December and would be looking then but was rather shocked yesterday!

I used some of the extra to boost my last 7.5 jab into a 10 and will definitely be using the 5th dose in my current pen. There wasn't any point when they kept supplying the pens but there is now!

It is now easy to get out of but there isn't any other mounjaro around (surprise surprise) so I'll wait until my refill date and assess. I'd have absolutely bought some pens elsewhere if I had any idea, they'd do this. It's still £99 if I want to transfer to equivalent dose wegovy but £279 to stay on 10mg pens - or cancel. So if I can get 10mg cheaper elsewhere then I will. It's all a bit unknown.

@Kay2000 I've seen that site and watching some of the lists but there's nothing available anywhere until after the 1st so I think I'll leave it a couple of weeks and see if any of the pharmacies did negotiate anything and see whose cheapest. I feel I've gone from getting 10mg pens at £99 and one of the cheapest to crazy prices. I am only guessing they are basically trying to dissuade mounjaro and move to wegovy I have no idea.

I've also read they're phasing out the 5th dose pens but presumably that's not yet.... I hope...

After my initial panic I've decided to stick at crazy prices for a couple of pens, and I have 4 doses left in mine. And then reassess. I'm so nervous to try wegovy when I'm only half way through and when MJ seems to have worked so well, especially on my ability to walk and I don't know if I'd get different side effects. I'm not in the best place to change this term as it's full on with work and January would be better if I do.

But financially we can't do this amount long term but by doing a couple more I'm pushing the worry away a little bit and absorbing the cost (well, I say absorbing... we are not v well off at all so it's a problem - my husband went white when I told him) but we're going for it for a few months and then assessing. I had assumed I'd be on MJ for ever and just eventually titrate down a bit. But I really don't know now. I'd love to see how others get on with wegovy or maybe it would work for maintenance for me or when I have a bit of time I'm not people facing to try and handle side effects.

Oops that's a longer stream of consciousness than I meant! I am so cross with how SheMed handled it as I'd been pretty impressed with them up til now overall!

That's exactly the same as shemed for my dose £279 😬😬😳😳.

I was hoping some would come out cheaper when all the shortages die down... Maybe... 😬.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 28/08/2025 08:46

I am kicking myself. I absolutely would have happily bought several pens if I had a clue I wasn't covered until December!

Billybingbong · 28/08/2025 08:47

Anyone with Medicine Marketplace, I've just had an email to say they have 10mg back in stock (I think it's for existing customers only though). Good luck if you're trying, I'm sure it will sell out quickly

And I just got a 10mg pen for £135- fingers crossed they fulfil the order! The website was sooooo slow, unsurprisingly. That means I have 13 weeks of 10mg in my fridge, let's hope I don't get the need to increase my dose for a while!

Brilliant. Im so tempted, but I have quite a stash now, plus I go away in a few days, so wouldn't be here to take delivery. They still have 1800 in stock if anyone else is trying.

I'm going away on Sunday, crossing everything it comes tomorrow or Saturday or I'm going to have to tell some people about the MJ just so they can collect and refrigerate my delivery! And I really don't want to do that 🫣

Ketra · 28/08/2025 09:16

Just popping in from my usual lurking to say I've just done my end of Week 8 weigh-in and have lost 2 stone (and a pound) in 8 weeks! I know it will slow down at some point but am enjoying it for the moment.

On the back of that, I again just want to say thanks to everyone who does chat here regularly, particularly those who are brave enough to share photos/anecdotes etc... Starting this journey knowing I had 10 stone to lose just to get to an initial goal of being overweight, and needing to loose 12 stone to have a healthy BMI, it seemed unobtainable, so continuing to read about people who have been on this for a year and are still sticking with it gives me confidence that I will also be able to do so.

Oh blimey, thank you for the info @Kay2000. I've been a Zava customer for over a year. Can't believe that the 15 mg pen has gone up by £100!

PearlsPearl · 28/08/2025 09:55

I love to hear about your holiday @EverybodysALebowski, I'm happy for you. We're going on holiday in a few weeks- just in Scotland- we're doing the NC500. When we booked it at the start of the year I felt quite despondent knowing I wouldn't be able to do much of it because of my mobility being so poor and my pain levels so high. So many gorgeous places to explore and I'd not have been going more than 10 mins away from my car, max. However now- 5 stone lighter- I'm so excited! I know there will still be things I can't manage but I'm so much more optimistic now, I walked for an hour the other day which I STILL can't believe I did.

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden sucks about Shemed 😞 I hoped they'd be reasonable for everyone (my friend is on it) but that's a whopping increase. I'm glad you're going to be able to get out of their contract and hopefully find a much better, cheaper supplier. We are on a very tight budget too financially so mj was already a stretch for me.

@Ketra very well done, feels amazing doesn't it! I love this group, it's been a real source of strength and comfort to me.

PearlsPearl · 28/08/2025 09:56

I think once all prices are listed and stock is back, the discount codes will be back too, as the different companies need to compete to get our custom. I usually got £20 off Zava so I’m hoping 🤞🏻. The next dose up 12.5 is £50 less at Zava than SheMed, so I think we’ll be moving suppliers more than we have needed to.

I don't have your confidence that discounts will be available again any time soon. Sales volumes are all over the place now, likely to dip in September & who knows from then. Up to now i'd guess order levels have been pretty consistent month on month so they knew where they were. Now? Nobody will be able to do any meaningful profit/orders forecast for a good while as it's pure guesswork.

What margin suppliers have against the new prices they're paying EL will need to be balanced against a possible fall in sales & revenue in the coming months. Who blinks 1st to offer any discount, then likely more will follow.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 28/08/2025 10:50

Medino's prices.

They went up overnight, as soon as Eli Lilly made their announcement.

I'm hoping they won't go up again after September 1st, but this is their current list.

They give all customers an 8% discount, each time they order.

Mind you, I'm still really pissed off with Medino. Their communication skills are seriously lacking and they still haven't sent any kind of message about any of this.

OP posts:
TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 28/08/2025 10:55

Anyway with the 8% discount, a 15mg pen would be about £237.

A 10mg pen would be £193.

(If anyone wants a 10% code for them, send me a PM.)

I'm with Zava but placed two orders, one has come, the other keeps getting delayed. Latest estimate is 2 days before I go away for a week... though seeing it's now £100 more for the same dose I'm not convinced it'll be delivered!

If they keep those prices I might consider a move, I'll ask you nearer the time though if you still have a discount code as I have enough to keep me til November.

Just out of curiosity, why aren't Medino on Monj? (Or am I just being dopey and can't see for looking?!)
