A non victory over the weekend. DBIL & wife didn't say anything when we had dinner together. I think this is because they are simply too polite. Plus we are at the age where weightloss is not to be automatically celebrated!

Also saw DB for the first time in several months who didn't say anything. This is probably because he simply didn't notice. He did look at me in a slightly puzzled 'something is different' sort of way.

Week 23 Lost 4lbs
SW 24st 9lbs
CW 20st 6lbs
Total lost 4st 3lbs

After my first gain last week, only 0.5lbs, I just knuckled down and decided I wasn’t going to be derailed and have had a great loss this week. Now over 4st down, this is the most I’ve ever lost on any diet and I’m thrilled by the success.

I am a little concerned over changes to my body as I can feel the extra padding deflating leaving me with flab. I’ve always been outwardly confident enough to wear a bikini on holiday and wear sleeveless tops but and now worried I may actually look worse than before. I am hoping that some of you lovely people who are further ahead than me can reassure me that the skin will tighten a bit in time? I am under no illusion that I will end up with a perfect body after all of this time stretching my skin to the nth degree but would like to think there will be some shrinkage?

Dontjumptoconclusions · 15/09/2025 10:41

@TheZingyFish I'd like to know the same regarding loose skin. Many people go on to get skin removal surgery and I really don't want to do that. At the same time, I'd feel so deflated if I have lost all this weight and still dislike my body/can't wear tight clothes with confidence etc. If anyone has come towards the end of their journey, please share!

TheZingyFish · 15/09/2025 11:08

It may sound vain but I’m thinking about what I look like on a sun lounger as I love sunbathing and relaxing in the sun.

Doggymummar · 15/09/2025 11:31

I think it's unlikely the skin will shrink back unless you've not been overweight for very long, but I think all if us here have lost and gained many times over many years and are probably at an age where our skin elasticity is depleted. My thighs are the worst. I don't mind my arms or my stomach but my thighs are unattractive. Luckily I can dress to cover those and I can wear arm tights under my t shirts and spanks up to my chin. If I was to go in the sun I think I would have to wear very dark sunglasses so I didn't notice anyone's glances!

Doggymummar · 15/09/2025 11:33

Decided it was silly to skip doses and remembered you are supposed to start again after missing two weeks. So I've jabbed my 15 today. I still had the same suppression so I think I can probably drop the dose rather than jab every other week. Which will make it cheaper. Off to investigate what dose I can get for £189 as I refuse to pay more than that,

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 15/09/2025 12:08

Having lost 8st I've found that my arms gradually started to look okay.
They went through a phase of having very loose skin, but they're evening out now. I hope that makes sense.

I'm 69 so I'm not expecting miracles but I'm okay with wearing sleeveless tops.

Well, I was, till it got chilly.
🤣

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 15/09/2025 12:09

I'm going to jab every eight days and see how things go.

Lds1 · 15/09/2025 12:37

I'm sticking to the usual schedule whilst I use up what I have, after that I'll see where I am weight wise hopefully it'll be time to go down a bit for maintenance. However in my sneaky weigh kns I've not lost anything yet since my last weigh in, so my confidence from last week is already draining 😂

I've already said I expect loose skin on here and in an ideal world I'd get surgery but for now it's gonna have to be support wear. Hopefully I look alright in clothes, holiday swimwear I'll have to cross that bridge when I need to.

I've just looked at my arms and I think they might be looking better, it it could be the two pound I gained this week filled that out.....but I doubt it. I did 12 days between jabs and then panicked today about the jab making me sick if I wait until Wednesday, so I did it about 9am and I seem to be fine.

WafflingDreamer · 15/09/2025 13:12

I have been doing Joe Wicks home workouts since Feb. I aim for 5 workouts a week Tues, Wed, Thurs, Sat, Sun and normally do 2 legs, 2 arms and a whole body + abs session. From what I've read and heard muscle definition takes a long time but I'm hoping the regular weights will help eventually.

I am pear shaped so my thighs are the worst for loose skin, I'm 6.5st down and still have around 3st to go. I don't think there is much you can do about loose skin. The only people I've heard of not having it are those under 30 and those who gained weight quickly like after pregnancy.

Dontjumptoconclusions · 15/09/2025 13:16

@Doggymummar If jab makes you sick, some people recommend jabbing before bed so that you sleep through the bad side effects.

Autumnflowers2 · 15/09/2025 13:26

Regarding skin
Personally I've lost and gained weight so many times ,plus birthed big babies ..there's not a chance in hell I'm ever going to look good in a bikini.
But that's not why I'm here
My weight was sending me to an early grave ,and I need to live as long as possible for my DC .
I've already got a few wrinkles under my chin ,and the tops of my legs.
But I'd accept that any day instead of the 8 stone I've lost .
Clothes wise I've been wearing size 24 jeans to get the wear out of them ,and moaning they were to big ,so I bought size 22 skinnies ...and they are to big on the waist ..so I've ordered a size 20 .
I look in the mirror and I don't see a size 20 person looking back at me ..
I think I will always see a very fat person..I hope this mindset doesn't scupper things for me
It would be interesting to come back to this thread in 5 years and see where we all are ..I pray we are all doing as well x

Doggymummar · 15/09/2025 13:27

I go back and read the thread I started in April 2023 when I need a reminder how far I've come

A very uneventful and almost boring four weeks since my last update and my 9th pen finished this morning.

Some big milestones hit this week too - I've now lost over 1/3 of my starting weight and my bmi is under 35 for the first time in my adult life. I had to buy new underwear last week - and my bra back size starts with a '3' and my knicker size with a '1' again for the first time in my adult life.

Weigh in this morning at the end of pen 9
:
SW: 136.6kg
GW: 62.6kg

Pen 1 (2.5mg): Down 10.1kg
Pen 2 (5mg): Down 6kg
Pen 3 (5mg): Down 5.1kg
Pen 4 (5mg): Down 4.8kg
Pen 5 (5mg): Down 4kg
Pen 6 (5mg): Down 5kg
Pen 7 (5mg): Down 4.5kg
Pen 8 (5mg): Down 3.1kg
Pen 9 (5mg): Down 3.1kg

CW: 90.9kg

Pen 10 started this morning - I've stayed on 5mg again - despite the slowing of my losses, I'm happy is working well and is manageable for me.

My arms are a bit wrinkly and getting flabby. I don’t really care. Not much. Like you say @Autumnflowers2, I’ll take that over the excess weight.

And as I’m 60 now, it’s all sliding south anyway! And I don’t need to be all taut and tight!

I have found the pump for my gym/yoga ball so I might blow that up again and give it a go. Storage is always an issue, they’re so big. And I do have a kettlebell. I suppose I should do something…maybe. One day. Perhaps.

😆

I swim every day ,even at my absolute biggest,in fact I found it easier buying size 32 costumes .as there was loads in the sale at that size 😁.. trying to get one that fits and I'm happy to pay the price of ..Is difficult... definitely not going to vinted for a costume 😂.
Have you thought about swimming?
I'm not quite 60 ,and it's all on the slide here too ,

TragicMuse · 15/09/2025 14:44

I have a tricky relationship with exercise! It mostly bores me rigid and I find it impossible to switch my brain off from the constant internal narrative of ‘bored bored bored, I’M BORED’!!

Swimming is ok but I lose count if I’m doing laps!

Mostly though I don’t get exercise endorphins which makes the reward feedback extremely limited! And I hate exercise for the sake of it. I don’t mind if it’s a bonus of something else but that’s hard to factor in. So, cycling to get somewhere is fine. Cycling just because is not fine. Walking home = ok, Going for a walk = very not ok.

That is very negative! My brain is just not set up to appreciate it!

Autumnflowers2 · 15/09/2025 14:52

I've been going for years and years ,I used to drop the kids at school and go to the gym ,then I couldn't for circumstances.
So I started getting up really early and going to the 6 am swim at the local pool .and it just became my normal.
I read somewhere you have to do something 20 times ,then it becomes a habit

Autumnflowers2 · 15/09/2025 14:56

When your really big ,as I was a year ago , exercise is really difficult..or I found it really difficult
But swimming supports your whole body and exercise in water is so good for the joints .
So even though I could go back to the gym ,I've stayed with swimming as I just love being in the water

PearlsPearl · 15/09/2025 15:11

I swim too. And go to aqua at least once a week. Last summer when I started my journey to change I did it by going to aqua. It was the only exercise I could manage and I'd be clock watching til it finished and be exhausted after. Now I find it easy :)

I can also swim for nearly 30 mins continuously now! 30 mins is my goal.

PearlsPearl · 15/09/2025 15:12

(Slowly, breast stroke, but without stopping. Couldn't do a length without stopping when I started)

Yeah same 😁

Lds1 · 15/09/2025 15:54

I relate to @TragicMuse here. I love the idea of exercise but just going for a run or walk for no reason round the estate just escapes me. I don't mind going to a park and then walking but just from my house gives me a mental block.

@Doggymummar If jab makes you sick, some people recommend jabbing before bed so that you sleep through the bad side effects.

Or take cyclizine 50mg before you jab.
