Can't believe we've got to 7 threads, but all are welcome!

@PearlsPearl sorry to hear that you're still unwell, I really hope it resolves soon.

@SecretNameforMN these threads have been such a help over the last year, with a group of women who just get it. I felt a bit isolated on my monthly thread, as people quickly got to target and moved onto maintenance, when I was still so far away from that.

@flipent I lost in big chunks for the first few months, then when I got to around 16 stone it slowed down, and since then the most I've lost in a week is 3 pounds. But mostly 1 to 2 pounds with the 3s being few and far between.

flipent · 27/08/2025 09:42

SW 20st 3lbs (mid July 2025)
CW 18st 7lbs
Total loss 24lbs

Averaging 4lb a week loss, which is a lot. Was expecting it to slow by now. I know I should be happy - but I'm also a little worried as it feels too fast.

I promise you that it will slow down.

It's only been five or six weeks since you started, and I was losing about the same amount of weight at that stage.

It's taking me a month to lose 3lb now, and that's also normal. I've been doing this for 17 months, and I've lost 8st in that time.

I actually lost 15lb in my first week. But of course, that slowed down.

I'm still not sure what im going to do when the prices go up massively. I can't really justify more than about £200 which looks to be around 7.5mg. I think I have 11 doses of 15mg in my fridge so that would take me up to the end of October then if prices are still crazy high I guess I'll have to start dropping down the doses

Edited

You could try semaglutide (Wegovy).

It's a good deal cheaper than MJ. I've got a Wegovy pen coming from CheqUp and it was approved and despatched in a couple of days. They let me have a 2.4mg pen, which is the highest dose, as I am currently on 15mg MJ.

The 2.4mg Wegovy pen from CheqUp was £130. That's half the new price of a 15mg MJ pen from Medino, which seems to be £260.

I'm also surprised we are at Thread 7. In fact I was surprised to find the first thread, which revealed that there were other MN members who were more than 10 stone overweight. Although I have read hundreds of threads over the years, I genuinely thought I was the only one this big because nobody mentioned it on any thread I read.

So I am grateful to the people who developed weight loss injections not only for the drug itself but for bringing "my tribe" out of the woodwork and into these threads where we can feel a sense of sisterhood and mutual understanding.

Totally agree x

This thread is literally the only place I am sharing my journey, both online and in real life. Absolutely no-one knows, husband, son, best friends, no-one. And it’s not even that I m ashamed or anything…just consider it that I’m an adult and I’m choosing to keep this particular journey to myself (and you gals obviously!) xx

Missingducks · 27/08/2025 11:20

Just had my monthly coaching call with BUPA and mentioned my holiday in Sept and they are sending me a certificate to be able to travel with the pen (apparently insisted on at airports). Did you all know this?

Autumnflowers2 · 27/08/2025 11:46

Hello ,thankyou for the invite over xx

Kay2000 · 27/08/2025 12:16

I weighed in this morning at 18st 2.5lb. Only 2.5 to go before I’m 4 stone off in 8 months which I’m very happy with. And I’m as motivated as ever, which is such a difference in my mindset. I’m on 7.5mg and was planning to go up to 10. But I was honest with myself and decided I could make more effort and I’ve increased my swimming and eating better and been rewarded by 2lb off this week rather than a half. So I’ll use the 10 pen I have to keep on 7.5 for as long as possible, given the new prices.

Kay2000 · 27/08/2025 12:18

I had an email from Oushk (who I’m not with) with their new price list. It is a bit scary how expensive it is.

Still here, sorry been quiet. Just keeping an eye on things in the background x

newtothegreen · 27/08/2025 12:24

I’ve only been taking the injections for 3 weeks (well, 2 and a half really as I had my 3rd on Friday last week) and have really been trying not to let the price rises cause me any anxiety. But I ordered my second pen with my original supplier (Med Express) ten days ago and it is still waiting for clinical review. I can’t get through on the phone and have no idea when this will happen (they have, of course, taken the payment…)
I have real sympathy for everyone feeling price rise and supply anxiety as it is very frustrating. Especially as, like so many of us on this thread, I have a lot to lose and a long way to go.
the NSVs and SVs of everyone are amazing to read though, and so motivational!

What is it saying for 15 please

Autumnflowers2 · 27/08/2025 12:27

It said on the news they have stopped all buying of monjroro untill 1 September

My first pen has still not arrived in the post.

I am 11 days into an almost-keto diet. The big thing for me was going cold turkey on chocolate, which was my only treat, my comfort, my addiction, my escape, my guilty pleasure.

After weeks of being told they are all permanently "too busy" to see me, I finally have an appointment with a GP (who I have never met) so I can tell her that I am going to take MJ and ask if there is any possibility they can prescribe it on the NHS (I know there isn't but I'll ask, anyway).

Still not opened the box that my new scales came in, so I still don't know my starting weight, but I will try to pluck up the courage today.

Edited

Once you are weaned off sugar, the milk choc like Cadburys tastes horribly sweet anyway. It just spikes your blood sugar so you want more an hour or two later. Try a 70% or 80% dark chocolate and have one square a day. I break that square into four pieces and savour each mouthful.

SilenceInside · 27/08/2025 12:42

@Autumnflowers2 that headline is super misleading. It's just reporting what we already know is happening, that the pharmacies cannot order more stock before 1st September so that they cannot stockpile pens at the current price. Many pharmacies have already notified customers of the lack of stock at the current prices, and delays in ordering until after 1st Sept. Hence many places restricting existing stock to current customers, and having limited/no stock at the moment.

Sorry that posting a photo really didn’t work did it?!

Oushk prices are:

2.5 £154
5 £174
7.5 £234
10 £264
12.5 £290
15 £310

There is a £15 discount for your first order at the new price and Wegovy prices are a lot cheaper.

Lds1 · 27/08/2025 14:10

My pens have been approved and due for delivery on Friday, hopefully they will appear!

Found you all again... thread SEVEN 🎊🎊😍😍

SilenceInside · 27/08/2025 14:27

My Asda 10mg pen was just delivered, which I am very thankful for. I had a weird message from Asda saying that review was delayed until today or tomorrow, and that delivery was delayed until the 30th to the 2nd Sept. But this was after the order had already been reviewed, approved, dispensed and dispatched! I'd already got an update from DPD this morning telling me the parcel was on their van and when they'd deliver today. So I was pretty confident that I was going to be getting it today, but I was quite unnerved by that email from Asda. Their systems must be stressed at the moment, and I guess it was an automated email that shouldn't have been sent out to me.

Hopefully everyone else's deliveries will arrive without any hitches.

Motnight · 27/08/2025 14:30

Got my zava delivery too!

SecretNameforMN · 27/08/2025 14:51

Saw a GP today about another matter and asked if it was OK for me to take MJ. She replied - rather breezily - that the practice had a number of patients taking it, that they are all losing weight, and the only thing, she said, one has to "keep an eye out for" is pancreatitis.

Dontjumptoconclusions · 27/08/2025 15:03

@SilenceInside @SecretNameforMN With the price rises and having a lot to lose, I almost feel like I'm up against a timer with being able to lose the weight faster 🙄

ConfusedMiddleAger83 · 27/08/2025 15:06

Thanks for the new thread!

My IQ doctor 5mg order arrived today, glad I could get one more order in before the price rises.

@PearlsPearl i had similar side effects when I went up to 5mg, I went back to 2.5mg for about 3 weeks and then gradually increased it, 2 months later I have just hit 4.25mg and it’s giving plenty of suppression so planning to stay here a few weeks if that continues. I still suffer from gastric issues but manageable ones in the main, think this is just how it’s going to be for me. I hope it settles for you soon.

i was able to get 6 doses from my last 5mg pen given I was using 3.5 at the start and decided I felt comfortable going up to 35 days on the pen.

SecretNameforMN · 27/08/2025 17:15

I've seen a lot of posts about side effects, nausea, diarrhoea and constipation being the main ones.

Before I take my first dose, is there a "set" of medicines I should buy in case I get any of these symptoms, so I have them on hand?
