Wegovy is made in Denmark or affiliated to Denmark, just switch to that.

Trump has made me want to boycott Mounjaro now anyway!

Edited

If they want to sell into the huge USA market then Trump will still have clout with them.

CoverMeInMarmalade · 16/08/2025 20:25

Oushk posted this on their social site. It was hard to capture the full thing but the first column is Wegovy and the 2nd is MJ....

https://ukmedi.co.uk/products/fms-micro-syringe-32g-8mm-1ml-fms-fms-32g-10ml-ukmedi-co-uk

these are the ones I’ve used since February. No issues and super easy.

Genuine question, i haven't attempted to use the golden dose yet.. why do we need to buy sterile needles? I received spars needle tips with my pen, can i not use those?

CoverMeInMarmalade · 16/08/2025 20:27

The pen won't led you wind after 4 doses. So you cannot use the pen needles - you need to stick a needle in through the red rubber bung at the end and syringe the liquid out.

The kwikpen mechanism only turns 4 times. Some people do a ‘hard’ turn and that works but it also risks breaking the pen.

Apparently when it first came out you could get the GD out as normal but when they realised that it would mean people getting a free dose they changed how the pens worked.

Hi all
Very useful thread, thank you OP for creating it.
This price could not have come at a worst time for me:

  • last month my provider, IQ Doctor, ran out of 12.5 and sent me 15mg
  • I am almost at goal weight and swapping to Wegovy at this late stage is concerning
  • IQ Doctor have removed their discount code...which makes them one of the most expensive providers as well as greedy bastards!
  • I can't order from them, as much as I would to like move now, until 21/08. I have read many providers are refusing new customers
  • I think I will need maintenance plan long term so maybe its a good time to move provider, switch to wegovy and reduce dose.... I feel like I am looking for everything in one go!

Does anyone have any recommendations for such a provider, please

Yours

Frustrated!!

@FurForksSake Those syringes are not for clinical use so may not be sterile. I certainly wouldn't inject myself with them and, if they are not sterile and you use them on earlier doses rather than the last one, there's a risk of contaminating the pen.
You need to order the medical grade ones from companies like Express Chemist or UKMedi

It's says non sterile on the Amazon listing, I get mine from the pharmacy

MynameisJune · 16/08/2025 20:32

In terms of wegovy, currently 2.4mg of wegovy is more expensive than 15mg of mounjaro so I’d wait for the new prices before moving over in case MJ is still cheaper.

Beammeupscotty2025 · 16/08/2025 20:33

Orangesandlemons77 · 16/08/2025 20:22

Does it not have more side effects though? The slightly less weight loss doesn't really matter to me as nearly at goal and thinking for maintenance, I was also pleased to see the wegovy pens can be used for us to 8 weeks as well

I do wonder if MJ had not come on the scene would wegovy have taken off more here instead?

I'm with Voy who have offered to swap me over to it, and due to some discount and also referral credit, the first 1mg pen (apparently equivalent to 10mg MJ) would be free. So, I've ordered one and will see how it goes. If it's not good, I will then try MJ again perhaps

Side effects are similar. I’ve read you just take Mounjaro one week then switch to Wegovy the next.

Wait for price increases and then compare.

Voy is so overpriced anyway! Look for cheaper online pharmacies.

I see, thank you, and @MynameisJune .
I will need to look into the needles then!

Only get sterile grades ones! Also a needle to draw up then change and a new needle to administer. I prefer the blue needles.

The switch to wegovy being pushed makes me suspicious to be honest. Before this i remember they were quite anti-switching between the two, as i had considered it at one point

Beammeupscotty2025 · 16/08/2025 20:39

Trump is to blame for Mounjaro price increase in the UK. Wegovy is just the same ingredient as ozempic which has been around for years and the one that everyone used off license in Hollywood. Wegovy is just the licensed name for ozempic for Weightloss instead of ozempic which is for diabetes. (I think)🤔

Yes I think wegovy and ozempic are the same thing. But ozempic is the biggest weight loss drug in the USA, so the manufacturer will be desperate to stay on their good side

Cantonet · 16/08/2025 20:47

When I switched over from Wegovy I had to start right at the beginning with Mounjaro. I didn't lose any further weight until I was on a higher dose. If you're close to goal I would really question the value of switching to Wegovy. Of course the providers would like you to switch...

Ozempic was initially used off-license for weight loss. When there was a shortage for the diabetics there was a kerfuffle & everyone was switched to Wegovy. Yes, the same drug but differently packaged.

Cantonet · 16/08/2025 20:48

Interestingly enough Asda don't even mention America & Trump being the reason for the price rises.

Asda are owned by Walmart so that’ll be why.

I have just realised that I’m going to be winning the euro millions on Tuesday so all of this is irrelevant 😌🤣

So, if it doesnt allow you to do more than 4 doses without forcing the click, does that mean you need to use sterile needles if you want to - for example - save money by taking 2.5mg doses from a 5mg pen?
Sorry for all the questions, just trying to figure out how to move forward.

Definitely. They’ll have more wriggle room to maximise their profits currently on Wegovy? As soon as something becomes more profitable, somehow difficulties and reservations are miraculously swept away.

I believe it allows 260 clicks or something, so you can do smaller doses but jt will eventually stop.

oops. Sorry folks, wrong thread.

SilenceInside · 16/08/2025 20:59

@CreepyDibillo each pen allows 240 clicks (4 x 60) plus about 8 for priming, before it locks. So, you can do 2.5mg from a 5mg pen without needing syringes, because you only need 30 clicks per injection. So you can do potentially 8 doses of 30 clicks before the pen locks. Of course that would take you well past the 30 day expiry limit for a pen that's in use, so not recommended or supported. You can fit 5 injections within the 30 day limit.
