I don't think it's a bad thing people being limited to 1 pen, if people didn't hoard it then stock levels can be maintained and you wouldn't have a mass of people who now have no access and are about to run out.
I don't blame people for over buying, I get it, the concern that they won't be able to afford it etc, but it's so poor that the news broke in the way it did and its the media causing panic again.
I just find people turn rabid when stuff like this happens. It's every man/woman for themselves and it's like we forget about humanity, I think these things tend to show us in our worst light.

I don’t think limiting to one pen is the bad thing, to me it’s allowing extra orders, cancelling them after creating a false sense of security and then pretending Eli Lilly has created that limit.

I'm looking to move to Wygovy too. I've tried to order 1mg Wygovy (from 5mg Mounjaro) from 2 places. Payment taken but still pending. I know some providers saying you have to start at s low dose, others not.

I am interested in the usefulness (for me) of the second hormone Mounjaro affects. Its to do with insulin and glycogen. Only I have a very low sugar and low carb diet now. So I don't especially think ill gain much from this additional aspect of Mounjaro.

Obviously when Mounjaro was cheaper, I'd not say no to the extra effects. But now it's not, I don't think the cost of (mid dose) Mounjaro over Wygovy will be worth it.

Ive saved a lot of money on food a) by not eating as much but b) becoming a food waste hero for Olio.

I always fancied being a FWH but couldn't trust myself to be around all that food - if I was left with a tonne of pastries or whatever I'd have eaten them.

I started MJ on the 9th April and started collecting for Olio on 14th April.

I get to keep 10% of the items I collect and then if anything is leftover uncollected then I can do what is needed to deal with that (keep it, pass on to friends, pass on to community fridge or foodbank etc - obviously this does depend on the condition of the food and can't pass on expired Use By items).

Anyway, it does mean that I'm left with random oddments and I tend to make soups a lot which cuts a load of cost from my food budget which can be redirected towards MJ costs.

It's a lot of work but I really enjoy it and I've developed a really good band of regular requesters so im pretty good at distributing the majority of the food so im not left with tonnes and it helps other people in the process which I love. :)

I’ve never heard of that. It sounds really good.

I've cancelled my stalled mounjaro order with med express and asked them to switch me to Wegovy 0.5. I hope they can as I tolerate well and am on track with no issues. If they insist on the starter dose then chest la vie. Life goes on.

I decided to switch as it means I can just get on with things and not have to worry too much. Easier to make a decision and go from there. Of course, I totally get anyone who wants to stick on mounjaro and is anxious about it.

PS. it is a bit of a shitshow tho isn't it :(

I'm sure you'll do well on it. I'm a WLI old-timer and lost the vast majority of my 9.5 stone loss on Ozempic/Wegovy. I found it amazing and never went higher than 1.7mg. I only switched to MJ as I neared maintenance because at the time they wouldn't prescribe Wegovy past 2 years. I'd have happily stayed on it.

I noticed ‘guaranteed stock and delivery timelines’ was one of the things Pillsorted are offering with their membership. I would be making a big thing of that if I were them as a lot of people are struggling to get the dose they need at the moment.

@gimmemounjaro yes, it is interesting, I guess basically saying they will manage their stocks to ensure members are prioritised and have some safety stock for any minor supply chain issues. Which is what you would expect any decent provider to do anyway, but as we have seen doesn’t always work in reality.

Wonder what their guarantee means if they can’t supply…. do patients get compensated. I assume it will, like any business be full of disclaimers such as excluding circumstances outside our control.

Sorry if this has been asked, but does anyone think medexpress will get stock in before price increase?

They still have stock, or at least we're sending out comms to say they did. If you normally order from them, you should be able to get a pen.

Burnserns · 17/08/2025 10:35

So far there appear to be 3 providers advertising their prices MMP, Oushk and Pillsorted (although none of the big pharmacies, those with the most buying power e.g. MedExpress, Chemist4U, Simple Online Pharmacy have). MMP is an outlier with 15mg sub £300. I suspect Oushk and Pillsorted's members prices will be around where the market falls, although we will need to see what the big pharmacies do because they will get the best bulk buying rates.

If MMP are far below everyone else, this isn't good news, as MMP are a small ish provider, last month they got 4000 pens of each of the higher doses, they will only be able to supply a small number of users. At their current prices (they are the cheapest for 10mg +) they sell out in a matter of days.

This is all to say Oushk's/Pillsorted are probably a good indicator of September prices, but it will really hinge on what the big pharmacies do.

YourRareTurtle · 17/08/2025 10:43

I hope they do limit pens to one per customer in future to help keep the supply stable. It seems a lot of people have said they will go down to 5mg/2.5mg doses as it will still be in the 'affordable' bracket, so is it likely there will still be stock issues for the lower doses after September if more people are titrating down to them? Or is it more likely people will buy out the higher doses and stretch them out to 5/7.5 as its more cost effective?

SecretNameAsImShy · 17/08/2025 10:44

This is the microdosing clicks for anyone interested. I understand that if the pen is stored in the fridge it is safe to use after the 30 day limit.

I agree. I felt quite sick yesterday reading on the other thread about people who had bought loads (6,8, or more) of pens from different suppliers to stock up. Quite selfish behaviour.

Same. I understand panic but as a PP has just said, it really doesn’t cast us all in a great light as a species.

MynameisJune · 17/08/2025 11:00

I know everyone is allowed to post how they want but can we leave the discussions about bulk buying ethics to the other thread before this one goes the same way.

Unless you have a credible source beyond social media it is not known if it is safe whether refrigerated or not.

Refrigeration might slow down bacterial growth in general for anything whether it is medication or chicken, but it does not halt it and this being an injectable medication where you are potentially injecting bacteria deep into the skin so the risks are higher if any bacteria is present.

This is why I’m not rushing to MMP. If they can guarantee supply, great! But undercutting the market when you don’t have the resources to supply the necessary amount is just risky business to me.

I hope you get the orders sorted Btrsun10. Sounds like an awful experience on Ozempic for you :(

One additional positive with the switch to Wegovy for me is that it is cardio protective and I've an inherited first class ticket for the heart attack express unfortunately.

Hard to make simple choices when things are so up in the air.

Mounjaro will be cardio protective too - it’s just still being researched/ proven with long term studies. No reason why it wouldn’t be though as it’s more effective than WeGovy. Some of the pharmacies are trying to spin it that this is a benefit of WeGovy but it’s not.

CoverMeInMarmalade · 17/08/2025 07:45

They are going to charge for membership after August. It’s free for a year for anyone who buys with them now but after August anyone who buys has to pay a fee to get those prices. Plus, their refund promise is for store credit, not a cash refund. So you’d need to buy again to take advantage. I don’t think it’s a terrible deal but their membership prices just don’t seem that competitive compared to MMP. Even Oushk who have estimated their new prices will be about the same as PS but without the membership (fee).

Apologies which provider is this?

I am really interested in any replies you get to this @50somethingHRTaddict I am in exactly the same position as you, even down to the provider, although I'm still on 10mg!
I was looking at CheqUp yesterday as they have a section on their site explaining a move to Wegovy, for new customers as well as existing. As far as I can see, the majority of other providers expect a 'wash out' period of anything up to 5 weeks before starting Wegovy from the lowest dose. However CheqUp have suggested starting from a higher equivalent dosage of Wegovy on the week following your last Mounjaro dose. I actually filled in their assessment but it didn't give me the option to choose anything other than Mounjaro, which is £20 more expensive than the full price of 10mg at IQdoctor. I'm not keen on tying up my money on the order and then being refused a swap and ending up with a more expensive MJ pen! I'm going to have a better look at their website to see if I can contact them to ask for more detail about swapping over.

It's so frustrating and I am particularly annoyed that IQ Dr have not communicated with their customer whatsoever
However, I need a pen and given the panic buying that has occurred, I think I will be lucky to get one from anywhere before the price hike
Do let me know if you get any success with CheqUp

I’ve just seen a video on TikTok from a lady called gillian_mpharm (id link it but it would out me!). She puts the hysteria around the price rises down to TikTok and I have to admit I think social media is to blame.

Someone leaked these rises on Reddit without any context and created this mass panic. It was a really irresponsible thing to do.

Interesting take on Eli stock value here: https://seekingalpha.com/article/4814170-eli-lilly-bet-against-insiders

Summary: it’s overvalued and recommendation is to sell now.
