Big price increases?

Anyone else seen this chatter about massive price increases announced for MJ (to pharmacies) in the last hour or so?

Very concerning as it looks like it could double the cost of some of the doses. I'll try to find the copy of the letter sent out...

I have 3 pens on order (a side effect of the pharmacy I use regularly sending out discount codes; guess that's gonna stop) but they all have future delivery dates on them for end Aug, Sept etc.

I wonder if those orders will be honoured?

I have just ordered 3 pens as well - using my 3 ZAVA discount codes - there wasnt an option for another deliver date - and we are off on holiday tomorrow not back til Sept so getting them delivered to my sons house. Hope they honour this order.

LifeOfAShowGirl · 14/08/2025 16:43

Hira said on the live that Oushk will be supporting people to change across to other drugs etc.

They know people will be stockpiling. So they’d rather people just ordered their three pens from their usual supplier than going across three different ones.

Again - three pens! HOW! Not that i want to double dose but it would be really convenient to be able to order in advance for me as I travel a lot. Do they actually deliver them all together or do you just pre-order at a set price for phased deliveries?

Edited

Different pharmacies have different rules. I know last year when I started I had a holiday coming up at the end of my first pen and they let me order early.

Who are people using for the best prices on Mounjaro but totally legitimate suppliers please? I am with Lloyds and I find them expensive but when I first started on Wegovy they were the only people who had available stock of the starting dose. Then it just seemed too much of a faff to change to someone else. Now I am on Mounjaro but if Lloyds put their already expensive prices up further I might have to look for a more competitive provider.

I wonder if Wegovy prices will go up as well. If not then I'm guessing lots of people will switch.

This website monitors prices from GPhC-registered pharmacies, and shows the cheapest for each dose, with or without discount codes:

Wegovy is a different compound

And made by Novo Nordisk in Denmark so not influenced by the Orange man!

NippyNinjaCrab · 14/08/2025 16:48

I wish I could afford to order the 3 pen limit from Oushk 😕 I am luckily at goal and maintaining but DH has just started 4 weeks ago! People will try and order higher dose pens and micro dose. X

Weepixie · 14/08/2025 16:50

Nippy!!!! I’ve been thinking about you girls, all my chums Ive made on Mounjaro, and I could cry. I spoke about all of you just over the page. 😘

I use this site: https://click.compare/mounjaro/

Other people use Monj. I'm sure there's another that's been mentioned - Miss Mounjaro or something similar.

The us accounts for 41% of their sales though each year.

Every single “big pharma” company will be hit by the same thing. Everything is about to go tits up

FurForksSake · 14/08/2025 16:53

Nippy can you spread the cost using Klarna?

Weepixie · 14/08/2025 16:56

nomas · 14/08/2025 16:28

Even with shipping that seems a lot.

It’s not just the shipping which is by DHL snd arrives in 48 hours, it also includes a monthly prescribing fee that is paid to the Dubai based Dr/clinic who initially prescribed it. Not that I knew this until an hour ago. But seriously, regardless of the cost it’s been worth every penny and I’ll stay on it to the end of the year as planned even though I’ll be at target tomorrow - I’ll be titrating down from Tuesday when my next jab is due.

Weepixie · 14/08/2025 16:58

Can someone explain to me please why this is down to Donald Trump?

NippyNinjaCrab · 14/08/2025 16:59

Hello my wee chums, @FurForksSake @Weepixie I will have a look at that option, we have just paid a big deposit on a new abode and been getting things for it, plus doing up the flat for my DSs and his girlfriend cash is not in abundance in the next couple of weeks. Add in a castration for one of the dogs, that was £300 for his haw maws off. Urgh. We will get a plan organised over the weekend and shuffle stuff about and order. My wee pal has just started and ordered and been accepted today bless her. She won't have seen the news. Xx

I’ve contacted them as well via the app… was told “rest assured” I’d be contacted by email with their response. I replied that perhaps the customer service rep should suggest to head office they put a statement out to all their customers asap as I will not be the only one panicking about the increase

@Wistfullysleepy Voy have just posted this on their website https://www.joinvoy.com/blog/mounjaro-price-increase

No increase to at least our next order and they will give at least 7 days notice before any price rises but are basically recommending people change to wegovy

Mounjaro Price Increase in the UK | What You Need to Know

From September 2025, Mounjaro will cost more for UK private patients. Find out what this means and why Wegovy may become the preferred choice.

I’ve just ordered two 10mg pens from Oushk. Really hope they deliver them 🤞. I’m on 5mg so if they do I’ll have six months worth which should hopefully see me through.

Can someone explain to me please why this is down to Donald Trump?

I was just about to write a post on this!!

in May, Trump signed the “Delivering Most-Favored-Nation Prescription Drug Pricing to American Patients” executive order. This stated that drug companies would have to bring the cost of drugs in America down to the lowest prices paid in developed nations. This is called “most favoured nation” pricing.

on July 31, he sent a letter to 17 major drug companies (including Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly) to state that they had 60 days to bring their prices down.

so, obviously, companies will now start raising their prices in other areas to protect their profit margins.

MickGeorge22 · 14/08/2025 17:02

I've just had an email from Asda to say they are lowering prices?

Evenstar · 14/08/2025 17:04

@Weepixie this article in the Financial Times explains it, but the big health insurance companies have a role in the price people pay for drugs in the USA

Predates this announcement. Doesn’t seem like the pharmacies knew this was coming until this morning Sad

While I have never to date agreed with anything trump has done, and this order is similarly riddled with issues, I have to grudgingly agree that on this one he does have a point. America does pay well over the odds for many drugs and does subsidise a large proportion of research costs for new drugs. Pharmaceutical companies have often seen the US market as key for recovering development costs, and other markets are just marginal profit.

That's a shame. I was thinking of re-starting it but that won't be possible if prices increase.

No, he’s wrong.

Americans pay so much because insurance companies and drug companies want to make billions in profit.

The situation in the USA is horrifying. But these companies are making billions of dollars of profit a year.
