Big price increases?

Anyone else seen this chatter about massive price increases announced for MJ (to pharmacies) in the last hour or so?

Very concerning as it looks like it could double the cost of some of the doses. I'll try to find the copy of the letter sent out...

Not this one. But Trump is targeting all drugs. This is going to become a huge issue.

Oh absolutely, I'm just thinking of short term options. And from the posts upthread, seems the patent expires sooner?

For a long time this medication was not available to Type2 diabetics on the NHS because too many people were buying it privately. If you’re obese & you qualify you will be able to be prescribed this by your Doctor in many cases now. Why not spare a thought for the people with serious health conditions for which the medication was originally intended for ie Diabetics.

We had this on here at the time and it was shown not to be linked at all. Mounjaro was not available on the NHS at the time because there was not a deal in place nor had the NHS approved it. It was never about stock levels.

I think Ozempic did have stock issues and I know someone who is T2 and could not get Ozempic because of stock - but she was offered MJ through the NHS as an alternative (even before it was an approved option) and she's been on MJ throughout.

£340!!! Good grief where are you buying it from. There are so many suppliers cheaper than that and I suspect you'll still be able to get it for something approaching that after the price increases.

That poster is buying in the UK but does not live in the UK - so is presumably paying more to have it shipped abroad.

Even with shipping that seems a lot.

It just really depends what happens now.

Probably best you don't talk to anyone else about thinking when you've just written this.

I wonder whether MJ being dearer will reduce the number of people whose brains fly out of their heads whenever they post about it.

Don't really understand this comment. If people are getting it on the NHS they will continue to do so, so why would I spare a thought for them?

Many of us are using it for more than weight loss, and for health conditions too, but not deemed serious enough for NHS help. It sucks for everyone.

Everyone who stays on it will just be told they’re rich.

Hoping the Oushk rumours of pricing are true

CoverMeInMarmalade · 14/08/2025 16:24

Just relistening to the Oushk live from the beginning. Their estimate is that the new costs will be £150 for 2.5mg to £300 for the 15mg. But they are clear this is an estimate based on the info they have but have yet to sit down and really work out the new prices.

They are saying peopke can order 3 pens now for delivery before 29th Aug but ask that you do it all as one single order to save workloads.

I do feel better seeing that. Obviously that’s a huge increase - but nothing like what we’ve seen. I’m going to assume that for pharmacies like Oushk, this will be the end of the discount code.

I just hope they can get priced out asap, it seems that Eli Lilly have really blindsided everyone with this one. Released it stealthily via Reddit rather than properly.

I've ordered two pens this morning!

There is an Oushk live tonight at 7pm with a fitness guy but I am guessing that will a hot topic if Hira hasn't already responded to all the questions on facebook

Who lets you order two pens? Unless you are going on holiday but surely they'd expect you to skip the following months order as you already had it early? I used Lloyds Pharmacy and they are absolutely anal about keeping track of your order frequency to make sure you aren't doubling up on doses. There is no flexibility if you travel away from home frequently like me, it's a right PITA. I've had to miss two or three weeks of doses before because they haven't approved my re-order. They said they were too close together and wanted me to answer a load of questions, even though I messaged ahead to say I was ordering early due to travel plans. By the time they approved it it was too late to receive the delivery. I ended up having to go overseas for several weeks without enough to see me through. I was livid.

Weepixie · 14/08/2025 16:37

doodleschnoodle · 14/08/2025 16:14

Are you prescribed it in your own country and the UK pharmacy just supplies it? If so that’s not illegal, depending on the country.

But afaik UK pharmacies cannot (should not!) prescribe to those living overseas, so if they are both prescribing and supplying to you outside of the UK, they are breaking legislation, from what I understand.

Edited

I think you’ve just hit the nail on the head - I’m actually prescribed the Mounjaro by a Dubai based clinic which is the country next door to me and they arrange the pens to be sent from the UK pharmacy. They’re obviously in some kind of partnership to make it legal which I hadn’t realised until now and as far as I know the pharmacy even send pens as far as South America now - they told me when I was in London a few months ago and I picked up some pens to save on the DHL charges. At the time I asked how many customers they had where I live and they said 2 so I was shocked when it was said a few pages ago - because of all pens being sent out of the uk. As it happens I do have a UK address but I don’t have a Dr or Id have just gone with one of the main suppliers like MedExpress 3 pens at a time and had family bring them to me when they visit - they’re here a lot 🤣

Im heart sore for the people this is going to hit like a train, I’ve made so many lovely chums on the threads here and I know some of them will have to give up now. And it’s ok for the few of us who started at the same time and have got to Target (I will tomorrow) because we got our chance when the going was good. But for the others it will be awful and though I never planned on staying on it long term, I’d always planned to have titrated off by December, there are women in the threads I visit who were staying in it long term because they know themselves well and knew they’d have to.

FurForksSake · 14/08/2025 16:38

Oushk are letting people order in advance up to 3 pens.

Oushk are allowing three at the moment. I ordered my normal pen this morning, saw the panic and just said fuck it and put two more 15 on my credit card

Will doing that not create a shortage and then push the prices up before September

No.

there’s two weeks. They obviously know what their stock is and why would the prices go up?

FurForksSake · 14/08/2025 16:40

I guess oushk are realising it’s better to have the orders now and the cash in the bank as come September they’ll be losing hundreds of customers.

Weepixie · 14/08/2025 16:40

@HeadDeskHeadDesk my supplier is red hot on keeping track of your orders and when I once did order two pens to suit my travel dates there’s no way I could have sneaked in a sly order for more before those 8 weeks were up.

On groups I am on a few pharmacies are suggesting the same, this is going to turn in to shortages everywhere soon.

LifeOfAShowGirl · 14/08/2025 16:43

Hira said on the live that Oushk will be supporting people to change across to other drugs etc.

They know people will be stockpiling. So they’d rather people just ordered their three pens from their usual supplier than going across three different ones.

Shock. They’re awful

HeadDeskHeadDesk · 14/08/2025 16:44

Who are people using for the best prices on Mounjaro but totally legitimate suppliers please? I am with Lloyds and I find them expensive but when I first started on Wegovy they were the only people who had available stock of the starting dose. Then it just seemed too much of a faff to change to someone else. Now I am on Mounjaro but if Lloyds put their already expensive prices up further I might have to look for a more competitive provider.

I wonder if Wegovy prices will go up as well. If not then I'm guessing lots of people will switch.

I’ve contacted them as well via the app… was told “rest assured” I’d be contacted by email with their response. I replied that perhaps the customer service rep should suggest to head office they put a statement out to all their customers asap as I will not be the only one panicking about the increase

Wegovy is a different compound
