Found all you lovely losers again!

So nice hearing people's stories and lots of you had starting weights similar to me but are much further on in the journey which helps me see it's possible 😀

Well 11 done for me and was first time I've not lost anything BUT I haven't gained either... am trying to psych myself up to start some v v v low level exercise this week.. just writing it down here on hope it spurs me on! (I find any exercise apart from walking really hard at my size!)

TheBeesTrees · 03/08/2025 20:11

I haven't read today's messages yet but I just had something funny/amazing/strange for me happen.

I was sitting here noticing a feeling in my tummy and trying to work out what it was because I wasn't sure if it was hunger. It wasn't a rumble, just a different feeling. It was only when my ds called down from his office to ask if I could put his dinner on to be ready when he finishes work soon, and I realised I haven't eaten since brunch.
That's unheard of for me!

So now I have some veg roasting with some baby spuds and chicken - also unusual as I'd normally have something quick. It smells lovely and I'm happy to wait for it. Who is this person...!

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 03/08/2025 21:13

@PositiveAttitude how lovely about the ring!

Was it the Highgate Choral Society?
🤣🤣

I left that when we were asked to leave monetary donations one week, and most people were sticking £50 notes on the plate.

At the time, I'd come out of a very long hospital stay, and was getting £78 a week in benefits.

I walked past that plate in dismay and yes, guilt.

£50!!! 😱
it would have been spooky if it was, but no… I’m Norfolk based

A fellow North-Londoner! I’m a Hampstead girl! I used to sing with a tiny choir in Belsize Park, in the 80s…

I joined the Norwich Philharmonic when they wanted new members, then they had masses of new interest and we had to re-audition and I lost my spot because I can’t sight-read. Despite never needing to sight-read because we had weeks of rehearsals and rehearsal tracks are a thing. I paid my subs and was always fully rehearsed, but got booted. Never went to one of their concerts again!!

Now I’m in a fun choir, not big-choral, we have a great laugh, it’s intensely not serious, and I just enjoy it!

Small world! I know the Norwich philharmonic, I was in another ‘Norwich’ choir.

He hasn’t yet. I’ve only just been looking into this. I’ve gone off all the sites so I can’t link you but there is information on diabetic research papers and other sites if you search.
4-8mm are all considered ‘short’ in the diabetic world.

but they make these different lengths for a reason it seems it’s quite accepted in the diabetic works that a slight variation of needles can be better for different people but WLI seem to not have as much info although I did find a couple of medical sites from the US and Australia that discussed it.

People seem to have been supplied with mostly 4 & 5 but some people have been sent 8mm (maybe when stocks have had problems?) so it seems there is a range that works.
most sites say 4 or 5mm are suitable for almost everyone. So I am going to suggest he try 6mm or if he has lots of 5mm which he was sent, to press it more firmly into the flesh which is also what some sites suggested for larger people.

This is really interesting, I’ve noticed (but never really thought about it) that when I draw out the 5th dose I inject with an 8mm needle and the 5th dose suppression has always felt stronger than when I inject with the pen and a 4mm needle. I should add that using a 4mm needle for me is still effective, I inject into my stomach, always have done. This is the first time I’ve heard anything like this and yes it’s fascinating. I’ll be going down an internet rabbit hole tomorrow.

I love reading the posts from those of you that are only a couple of weeks or months into your journeys and the small victories you are all celebrating, I know those victories as I have also celebrated them, but the best thing is knowing what’s lies ahead for you and it’s truly amazing 🤗

UsernameShmusername2024 · 03/08/2025 22:45

Thanks for the new thread.
I'm on wk25, started at 25.5st and have lost 73lbs so far. Still another 9st + to get into a healthy BMI range but I expect I'll feel ready to stop before that given what a huge loss that'd be.
Go abroad this week - at the start of MJ back in Feb I imagined not needing a seat belt extender by this point but actually expect I will which is a shame. Very happy I started MJ 6 months ago and am going away lighter and healthier though!

PinkArt · 04/08/2025 14:41

Belatedly checking on after a busy weekend with my small nieces.
I started on November last year at 19st 9 (I was two pounds heavier the week before but am just counting from when I started on mounjaro). I've lost 4.5 stone so far and am 15st 2 today. Technically I'm cheating being in this group as 10 stone lost would take me to a weight I've not been since I was a teenager who skipped meals, but this felt a much more natural fit than 5 stone to lose would have.
I'm aiming for the 11 stones, which takes me to my curvy/ too much wine weight range as a younger person. If things go amazingly I'll aim for the 10 stones which was my fuck yeah weight range as a younger person who'd laid off the lambrini for a bit!
Thanks for the new thread and for being a great bunch. I don't post in here so often as the November starters are a very chatty lot, but always keep up to date with reading the threads and it's so nice to hear how everyone is doing.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 04/08/2025 15:32

Hi @PinkArt I also like to see how everyone is doing.

Argh I still haven't lost the 3lb I put on when I was on holiday.

Very. Slow. at the moment....

It'll happen. There'll be a whoosh soon.

That is interesting. You could also try pressing the pen firmly into your belly so the 4mm goes in as far as possible. Or get some 5 or 6 or 8 mm needles and see how you go

Iwouldratherbesinging · 04/08/2025 17:05

@ohsososo it was jab day today for me, so I used a 6mm needle on the pen rather than my usual 4mm just out of interest/curiosity 😁, I will add that I’m definitely not chasing suppression, I was in the early days though!

TheZingyFish · 04/08/2025 18:43

Week 16 1.5lb off
SW 24st 9lbs
CW 21st 5lbs
Total lost 3st 4lbs

Has been a strange week, the suppression has definitely drifted a bit and I’ve been wanting to snack as well. I wish I’d ordered the 7.5mg instead of a third 5mg pen but I’ll just make the best of it. I did go out for curry and had starter, curry, rice and naan but only ate half of what I would of eaten pre-MJ so I guess this is still good.

I have a difficult few weeks ahead as going away a couple of times and this is why I really wish I had the 7.5mg pen but this is life and who cares if it takes me a couple of extra weeks in the grand scheme of things when this is like it to take 12-18 months.

PearlsPearl · 04/08/2025 18:57

@PositiveAttitude lovely about the ring. My first weight loss goal was to wear my wedding ring again and I cried when I realised it fit now.

Got the mega Monday blues after the adrenaline come down of flying at the weekend. All of the amazing Belfast food and the spa castle food on Monday/Tuesday means there's no way I was weighing in yesterday! I'm going to wait til Sunday and hope I can have a strong enough week to at least break even and maintain by then. It made me miserable seeing a gain the last time so I'm just going to avoid it.

Also, what is a whoosh?

TheBeesTrees · 04/08/2025 19:11

I feel a bit hungrier today and yesterday. Hopefully it's just a blip! I have my graduation in just under 3 months and I've been looking at dresses and am disappointed by what I've seen so far...one beautiful dress but it only goes up to a 20 and Im in a 26. Started getting thoughts of wishing I'd started sooner and how can I lose enough weight in the time....a slippery slope to dangerous thoughts!

Missingducks · 04/08/2025 19:20

My provider BUPA has just reduced costs of pens! I've ordered a 7.5 for my next one after 3 of 2.5 and two of 5. It is going to be £214 for the 7.5.

I went to BUPA for the face to face call each month, the known and trusted service, and an on-call GP. Am aware it's not the cheapest but peace of mind is worth it for me.

Doggymummar · 04/08/2025 19:41

Thats so expensive @Missingducks glad you feel it's worth it. I pay about £175 for 15mg and have never felt the need to talk to anyone thankfully in 30 months now. Would you believe 🧐

@Quitepossibly

With regard to your abdominal pain, although it isn't severe and is currently intermittent, I would talk to your provider about it, and definitely omit your next dose until you do.

Mounjaro has been associated with pancreatitis in a small number of patients. This can be chronic or acute.

Have a look at this link. It's from the Voy website. I'm not trying to scare you but I think you need medical advice before continuing, in case you need treatment.

Link

Thanks for the advice and the link. I'm pretty aware of the risk of pancreatitis but it's always helpful to have a reminder. The pain went fairly quickly ( I think it was a combo of trapped wind and constipation) but I'm keeping a close eye on things and will contact my provider if any further niggles.

Edited

Exactly the same for me.
£175 for a 15mg pen at Medino.
I can ring the pharmacist anytime if I need to, although I never have.
He rings me every three months or so.

Goodness, how much was it before they reduced the price?

<<<faints>>>

Also, what is a whoosh?

It's when you suddenly lose 3-5lb seemingly overnight, after a plateau.

PearlsPearl · 04/08/2025 20:29

Oh gotcha!

I don't understand why anyone would pay £200+ for a pen. Why on earth would you?

I don't know either. Who are you with?

I've just looked at Medino's price list and a 7.5mg pen is £135.

Wowee, that's pricey. My provider charges £135 up to 10mg, then £145 for 12.5 & 15mg. Its shocking how much the cost differs between providers, for the exact same thing.

SilenceInside · 04/08/2025 20:32

Any opinions… would it be silly to buy a dress now that I hope to fit into for the run up to Christmas? It’s only from Vinted but is £35 as it’s a very nice dress. It’s a size 14, but the measurements given make it small for that size. Although I’m wearing some size 14 things at the moment they are on the larger side of that size and somewhat stretchy. I can’t decide if it will fit, or maybe even I’ll miss the window and it might end up too big?? Or maybe that’s wishful thinking.
