I took my first dose yesterday.

I have had severe effects from it all day today. I didn't realise that it would be this bad?

I have had severe nausea all day. I feel like I am going to throw up every ten minutes.

I have had really bad stomach pain.

I have had diarrohea.

I have had constant foul smelling sulphurus burps.

It's been awful.

What have you eaten

Boliviabae · 28/06/2025 23:09

Today I had two fruit smoothies and a greek yoghurt, at different times, as I was so ill the thought of eating something solid made me feel like i was going to throw up

I didn't think it would be this severe? Has this happened to other people.

I did read through some threads on here and i saw other people mention burps and nausea.

I have to work tomorrow in a small office. I am dreading doing smelly burps in front of my colleagues.

If i had known it would be this bad i dont think i would have took it.

Get some antisickness meds from your local chemist and something to settle your stomach/burps, don’t suffer unnecessarily. I’ve never had such bad side effects as you are but I started on half doses and slowly increased to 5mg

CallMeStella · 28/06/2025 23:13

Apparently Pepto bismal is a life saver when taking MJ

Overtheatlantic · 28/06/2025 23:14

Can you eat some protein like cheese or peanut butter?

Boliviabae · 28/06/2025 23:16

Can you eat some protein like cheese or peanut butter?

I could but it is 23.00 and i dont have either of them in the house today

Why, is protein meant to help with sickness?

Sorry to hear this, OP.

have you started on the 2.5mg?

it does sound like you’re having a difficult time which is tough. Lots don’t (I didn’t) but it’s not unheard of.

your provider should have a contact line you can call for advise. Certainly keep your fluids up, and try and keep eating. I hope it improves for you quickly

KnewYearKnewMe · 28/06/2025 23:19

I found I would feel nauseous when I was hungry - a bit like morning sickness. I had ginger biscuits and ginger sweets which helped.

if you don’t eat, you will feel worse, so even having toast, salty crackers etc is a good idea.

KentishMama · 28/06/2025 23:20

I think it's quite rare to get such a strong reaction immediately, but it does happen. When you first start or when you increase the dose is the risky time in terms of side effects.

I have had two bad weeks in the last 7 months of taking MJ. The main thing I learnt is that I need to increase my doses very very slowly, much more slowly than the official guidance suggests.

Foreverm0re · 28/06/2025 23:20

Did you do any research? There’s hundreds of posts on here alone about this.

Yes I started on the 2.5mg.

My mother also took mounjaro a while ago and said she told me she had to stop taking it because it made her so sick.

When she told me i said to her that was awful, but i didnt think it would affect me the exact same way, i said to her "ah yes but everyone's body is different , it probably won't affect me the exaxt same way it affected you"

And yet it has

Of course I was aware of the potential side effects. I read the leaflets before i twke any medication.

I didnt think the side effects would be as severe as they are.

I have never had such bad side effects from any medication before.

They sound like the sort of side effects I would expect to get with such a drug and they don't sound unduly severe from your description.

Have you got some Gaviscon? Or Rennies? You could get some sugar free mints to mask the burping at work.

carbibarbie · 28/06/2025 23:28

Yep. I tried MJ and Wegovy, both with diabolical side effects. Vomiting every few days, constantly feeling completely horrific, if I was hungry I would retch until eaten something and then would vomit even half a slice of toast! I couldn’t face parenting my lovely kids as felt so horrific so in the end I stopped, and somehow lost zero pounds too ! Was all extremely bizarre and I will never go back! I genuinely haven’t read of many people with such severe side effects as I had, and I still wonder WHY it happened like that for me.

Edited

Yes i have felt absolutely horrendous all day.

I have had constant sulphurous burps, severe nausea, retching, severe stomach pain, i can't sleep.

I feel terrible.

Its making me think - is this good or bad for my body?

Hopfully it might ease in a few days.

If it doesnt i will have to stop taking it, like you

I feel for you, it’s really gutting when you’ve spent the £ and you trust in a drug to do what it says, but when you can’t tolerate it, you just feel disappointed (and so poorly!!!)

VashtaNerada · 28/06/2025 23:34

I get strong side effects, particularly on days 2 and 3. Each week is easier than the last though. I’m going to stay on 2.5 for as long as I can.

Boliviabae · 28/06/2025 23:37

Oh i feel so sick :(. I could cry. My poor tummy

Worriedrelative78 · 28/06/2025 23:41

I was fine for three weeks then got horrible side effects after that. Took me a couple of weeks to find a solution but Pepto Bismol on day two (when I felt the worst) has been amazing for the nausea and runny tummy. I also swear by travel sickness bands (I was very sceptical of these but it seems to be doing the trick and I feel good again!)

Good luck 🙂

Boliviabae · 29/06/2025 00:48

Ooh i can't sleep as I have such bad stomach pain and i have been retching for hours

What is this medication doing to our body?

Side effects of medication should not be this severe.

It makes me wonder how safe it is.

When you say you have such bad tummy pain, whereabouts in your tummy OP?

F1LandoFan · 29/06/2025 01:14

Do you have a fever?
