I just started mounjaro today.

I'm really interested to hear how much weight you have lost on Mounjaro.

Loving these inspiring posts. Started MJ last Thursday so first weigh in tomorrow. Excited and apprehensive. Feel really good just a week in.
SW 18st 5lbs age 61 next month
Changed my food intake totally and really enjoying it. No sweets, chocolate, pastry etc. and don’t want them (which is amazing)
Started swimming again - only exercise I enjoy and swim an hour a day (fairly slow so about 1100 metres).
Good luck everyone 😀

Nearly 5 stone

Scarlettpixie · 07/08/2025 21:14

I have lost 3.5 stones since the end of October and am now just in the overweight category for BMI. Its not fast but so long as it keeps going down a bit I am happy. I can really tell a difference now. Bought some size 16 jeans on vinted a couple of weeks back and was pushing a 22 when I started :)

November 2024. From 16.13 to 12.1 so nearly 5 stone.
The best thing I have ever done. I was in a complete slump, I was in a mess with my lifestyle and eating habits. My knees hurt, kept getting a pain in my big toe (randomly), to be honest it had started to hurt going up the stairs. In my late 30's.
I feel like how I should be now. So much healthier and happier in myself. The only bad points are my hair has definitely gone a lot thinner, which I am working on with supplements. However, I'm not as careful as others with the protein- I should eat a lot more so I think that's would have helped. I need to try increase it.

Bit late to this but having seen the amount of weight it has taken off a friend, I'm curious. Is it actually a healthy way to lose weight? Does it go alongside a special diet? I was surprised how much weight she had lost but it has also done shocking things to her face which I wouldn't want. What do you recommend? I'm trying to lose weight but doing it via a slimming group. Thanks!

SilenceInside · 25/09/2025 13:46

@YourBrickTiger It is a medically approved way to lose weight if you are clinically obese or overweight with weight related health conditions. So, yes, it's as "healthy" as other ways to lose weight. You don't need a special diet, you just need to eat a healthy diet prioritising lean protein and fresh veg where you can. But you don't have to follow a healthy diet, as with any other calorie controlled weight loss.

Can you explain what you mean by "shocking things to her face"? Do you mean that she has loose or sagging skin on her face? Or does she look too thin, in your opinion? Or something else? You cannot possibly know if those things would have happened if she had lost weight via other means. What your skin, on your face or otherwise, will look like after weight loss depends on age and genetics mainly. Very hard to do much about it given that.

I personally would recommend Mounjaro to anyone who is obese, because it has worked brilliantly for me and I have lost 10 stone.

I'm really glad it's clinically proven and approved. What about expense?

She is a lovely looking girl but since losing the weight, her face is all wrinkly, she is only 50, lots of lines she didn't have before and saggy skin around her chin. It doesn't totally put me off but I'm already very self conscious. Thank you so much for the information.

SilenceInside · 25/09/2025 14:08

@YourBrickTiger well, weight loss injections are a prescription-only medication, so in the UK those all have to go through clinical trials to show safety and effectiveness, before being approved for use by the MHRA.

The expense is what it is. Either you can afford it or you can't. Each person needs to decide on that for themselves, based on your own household budget.

If your friend is 50 then she is a middle-aged woman, not a girl, and wrinkles are something that come with age. Being overweight can hide them, and they can become more obvious when you are slimmer. So, she may have always looked like that if she had always been thin! If you have been at a high BMI for a while, and carried excess weight as double chins, then when you lose the weight it will take time for the skin to shrink back and it may never be quite what you want it to be. It is not the medication itself that causes it, but simply age and genetics as previously said. If you are using a prescription-only medication to lose weight because you are obese, then the emphasis should be on your health and not so much on your appearance.

AnnaQuayInTheUk · 25/09/2025 14:10

I started it in February this year. I can't remember exactly what I weighed but think it was about 11 stone 10lbs. I now weigh 9 stone exactly. I haven't tracked it that carefully as I'm not taking it to lose weight, that's just a by product.

YourBrickTiger · 25/09/2025 14:17

Thanks guys, I'm not sure about it at all. It seems a very drastic way to lose weight and if you stop it, what happens then?

SilenceInside · 25/09/2025 14:22

@YourBrickTiger yes, weight loss injections are intended for people who are clinically obese, they're a prescription-only medication not a general diet aide that you can buy over the counter. If you are obese, then the benefits of using WLI to lose weight will outweigh the possible risks.

If you stop taking medication, then the effects of the medication stop. That will then put you back to the state you were in before starting the medication, except you will have lost weight and hopefully be in the healthy weight range. Then the challenge of maintaining your weight loss starts. Which is exactly the same as all other methods of losing weight. If you start to eat more than your daily calorie need, then you will gain weight again. What do you plan on doing when you get to your target weight with your slimming group? Stop following the diet plan, and stop going to the group? Or maintain the same kind of diet and continue going to the group?

InfoSecInTheCity · 25/09/2025 15:28

It’s strange, I don’t see WLI as a drastic way to lose weight, it’s a tool that regulates your blood sugar and insulin levels and that helps you to feel fuller for longer so you can stick to a calorie controlled sensible and healthy diet.

It is a medication so it carries risks, but the only people eligible to take it are obese or overweight with weight related health conditions so they are living in a state of higher health risk at the moment and losing weight will help with that, so the balance of risk is reasonable and has been judged as such by medical professional.

ive lost 80lb on Mounjaro, a total of 135lb all in, the first 55 lb were through just diet. I am medically in a much healthier position and can prove it with multiple blood tests, scans and all sorts, my diabetes is completely in control , sugar levels in normal range for the last 10 months, blood pressure has reduced to normal range, cholesterol has reduced to normal range…… I’ve gone from a size 22/24 to a size 10/12 from morbidly obese to healthy BMI.

I have loose skin on belly, thighs and arms, but I was obese for 30 of my 42 years, there’s only so much abuse skin can take and once it’s stretched past a certain point it’s not fully shrinking back no matter how I lose that weight.

Gettingbysomehow · 25/09/2025 15:29

5 stone in one year, half a stone to go.

CautiousLurker01 · 25/09/2025 15:31

6.5 stone over 15months. Kept it off for nearly a year so far. Started on ozempic then mj. My DS has lost 6stones in a year on mj only.

YourBrickTiger · 25/09/2025 15:55

Thanks everyone. I'm in two minds. I was taking my slimming class seriously until my coach came over to talk to me about a healthy lifestyle, with a packet of cigarettes in her hand.

People aren’t perfect. Even people who are very healthy in one way will have bad habits or personality traits that are not ideal.

If you are waiting for the perfect human to come along and influence you through weight loss then you’ll be waiting forever.

OrlandointheWilderness · 25/09/2025 20:48

down from 22 stone to 13.7 so 8 1/2 stone since October 2024. Absolutely has changed my life - I’ve been running again since January and I’ve got a half marathon in three weeks, and a few marathons/ ultras booked in for next year. I’ve used it to really look at what I’m doing with food and make significant changes.

It's not a decision you have to make now. The option is there to have a go at the diet and exercise plan you're currently pursuing, and if you're not happy with the outcome of that you can reassess.

LOOOOOVE these posts. Started Oct 18th 2024 and 3st 7.5lb down so a lot slower than most but I started at 18st 3 and feel one million times better already. I run now! I can run 2 miles and signed up for a 5k. I am worried about when my pen runs out but I’ll save for another I think.

PermanentTemporary · 26/09/2025 13:30

21kg in about a year. I have another 7kg to lose for a healthy BMI. I certainly look wrinklier but feel a lot better.
