Mounjaro July 2025 Starters

daisydreamies · 27/06/2025 14:17

Please let me know if there's already a thread for this! I did have a look and couldn't find anything.

I've just been approved for Mounjaro from Asda. I've been trying to lose weight for seven years. I've tried calorie counting, intermittent fasting, Slimfast, Weight Watchers (it didn't work for me, I was so hungry all the time and ended up overeating so I never lost), and Slimming World (I enjoyed it, but the weight loss for me was too slow so I ended up stopping as it's so expensive). The most successful diet I've been on was when I was breastfeeding my son, but the weight came back on when I stopped. I'm still lighter than I was pre-pregnancy, but this weight is not shifting or if it does it's so slow and I lose the motivation. I tried most for about 4-6 months (except WW, I gave that up after 2).

I can't exercise as I have a chronic illness, so I'm often in pain from just existing and exercise just cripples me. I think I have PCOS too, which might be why I'm struggling so much to shift the weight with diet alone.

My goal is to lose weight with Mounjaro hopefully, and then follow a Slimming World style diet after (which I still kind of follow now, just not as strict). I've managed to maintain my current weight for a year so I'm pretty confident I can maintain. I've also never tried to lose weight with other people, so I'm hoping this also helps.

I've done it! Taken my first jab today.
I'm a bit scared? What if I have side effects? What if I don't lose any weight? What if wha tif wh atif...
So I bought it, harassed my gp to get blood tests as thorough as they'd allow me to, and I've started. Within 30 min I had such an intense sugar craving (usual for me) that I can't wait to see how it will help me :)

Same as you first jab today !!

Adultautismdiagnosis · 22/07/2025 20:53

First week done and 5lbs down. I'm pleased with that although I know first week isn't true fat loss.
Looking forward to jab 2 in the morning as I've definitely found things harder today.

zerofeeling · 22/07/2025 21:24

@abitscaredarentI I had my first dose last night and feel the same - lots of anxious thought with my main worry being that it won't work at all! Had a terrible headache this afternoon but no sign of suppression so far 🫤

Warmcupoftea · 22/07/2025 21:34

Hi all, a bit late to the party here. I’ve just taken my first dose, and hoping it will work. Injecting was easier than I expected!

DarkSuitsSadSongs · 22/07/2025 22:46

1.5lb off this week. Making 9.5lb in 3 weeks.

Just taken my 4th dose of 2.5mg. Also noticed I have a spare needle in the bag. It caused some confusion as to how many doses I'd actually had haha.

I'm moving up to 5mg. I will trial it and may drop back down as I've had good suppression and weight loss but it's tapering off and my sugars are becoming unstable again.

SW 12st 8.5
Wk1 12st 2.5
WK2 12st 0.5
WK3 11st 13
TW 8st 10lbs

Bunnie22 · 23/07/2025 06:55

I need to order my second pen and am thinking about going up to 5mg but want to find a cheaper supplier.
I'm currently with medexpress, who only asked me to fill in an online consultation and send photos. I've heard some suppliers want video calls and blood tests and I can't be doing with all that. What do others ask for? Can you tell me other suppliers who don't want all that stuff please? Don't mind sending pics again though.

Vikki7 · 23/07/2025 07:06

Week 5 jab taken last night. (Golden dose) It’s easily forced with a pair of pliers. Weighed this morning and lost another 2.3kg!

In one month I’ve gone from 96.2kg (15st, 2.3lb) to 84.8kg (13st,5lb)

Almost 2 stone in one month!

These medications are life changing, I only wish I’d started sooner 🤩

Artymummy10 · 23/07/2025 07:47

W4 D1
SW 99.6kg
CW 94.7kg

I’ve been getting myself confused switching between kg and lb so I think I just need to stick to kg now 😅
Just under 5kg loss in 3 weeks which I’m really pleased with. Planning on moving up to 5mg next week. Suppression has definitely lessened in the last week and I’ve had little to now side effects so I think it makes sense to move up.

MeridaBrave · 21/07/2025 21:54

Haha yes I did this too, I had a 2kg dumbell down the back of my trousers. I didn’t have to do photos.

@MeridaBrave who’s your supplier, if you don’t mind me asking?! Thinking of switching but hate the photos of me thing.
@Adultautismdiagnosis why are you so bothered/judgey? It’s not harming you in any way whatsoever 🤷‍♀️

RockChik · 23/07/2025 09:10

Sux2buthen · 21/07/2025 18:43

I need to order my second pen, I’ve decided to stay at 2.5 this time.
Im not sure whether to use the same company or try and shop around for cheaper. Or is it not worth the hassle?

@Sux2buthen why not get a 5mg pen and just half dose? That way it will last twice as long?!

daisydreamies · 23/07/2025 09:11

I’ve just taken my first dose of 5mg. I’m hoping the side effects aren’t too bad. I decided against using the golden dose because I couldn’t be bothered to deal with other needles (they do freak me out). I do feel a little bit sad about how much liquid is left in the pen though.

I have found that my weightloss has really slowed down. I lost 0.3kg in week 4 😱 I’m hoping that 5mg helps me lose 1kg a week. I’m fairly certain I’m eating around 1200 calories from when I calorie counted in the first week and I’ve not changed what I’ve been eating.

My supplier didn't want scales either, just took my word for it

@Bunnie22 may I ask who your supplier is?! So they didn’t want any photograpic evidence at all?? Did they inform your gp?

Probably because of the 30 days from first use requirement. So it cannot last 2 months?

@HelloQuery that’s the official line but many people are using the pens for much longer than 30 days without issue, as long as it’s kept in the fridge. It actually states on Asda’s website that it can be used for longer if refrigerated.

Rallentanda · 23/07/2025 09:21

End of week 2: a kilo off. Happy with that! Nearly 3kg off since starting. (Roughly 6 lbs)
Side effects minimal so far: nausea very occasionally, constipation if I don't drink enough water.

And 3.5cm off my waist!

Ooh! Do you have a link for this?
I'm coming up to my 5th jab at the end of the week. I've lost 5.8kg! I've been eating well, 3 meal a day but much better choices; less UPF, less simple carbs, more veg and protein. Not calorie counting, or aiming for low calorie intake.
I'm gradually increasing exercise too and started some strength training. Strongly considering a PT though, as I don't really know what I'm doing and think I would benefit from a spoon-fed exercise regime! I'm chronically unfit and never sustained any regular exercise...

Illjusthavethebreadsticks · 23/07/2025 09:31

Day after jab and feel very achy and coldy not sure if this is a side effect or I’m poorly !!

@NattyMauveSwan it’s under the section ‘Storing your Mounjaro pen’:

It's medexpress. I just had to complete an online questionnaire and send photos

It’s a really good idea to get started with a PT. Ideally in a way that if you do once a week with them you can do it on your own on other days. Ideally need to lift very heavy. Like so heavy you can only manage 6-8 reps.

I’m using SheMed. It’s £99 for first month including a blood test and £160 after, don’t pay more for higher doses. Let me know if you want to use them as I can get a referral code from them

This really isn't good advice regarding the lifting!

Firstly, unless your form is good, you are much more likely to injure yourself if you're just going for weight over anything else!
Secondly, you are much better gradually increasing your weights with improving strength.

A PT is an excellent idea for no other reason than they will give sensible advice unlike MeridaBrave!

£160 seems very expensive, I'm only paying around £120-125. Even the highest dose would only be £170ish so you'd have to be on that a long time to save money.

typicaltuesdaynight · 23/07/2025 10:37

I slept last night for the 1st time in days. I’d taken magnesium. I’ve lost 4lb on my 1st week . I’m due to take my 2nd dose today but I have horrific nausea. I’m away for a feed day break coming home on Sunday. Do you think I’d be ok to delay my 2nd dose till then? I don’t want to feel awful for my birthday long weekend away
