Mounjaro July 2025 Starters

Please let me know if there's already a thread for this! I did have a look and couldn't find anything.

I've just been approved for Mounjaro from Asda. I've been trying to lose weight for seven years. I've tried calorie counting, intermittent fasting, Slimfast, Weight Watchers (it didn't work for me, I was so hungry all the time and ended up overeating so I never lost), and Slimming World (I enjoyed it, but the weight loss for me was too slow so I ended up stopping as it's so expensive). The most successful diet I've been on was when I was breastfeeding my son, but the weight came back on when I stopped. I'm still lighter than I was pre-pregnancy, but this weight is not shifting or if it does it's so slow and I lose the motivation. I tried most for about 4-6 months (except WW, I gave that up after 2).

I can't exercise as I have a chronic illness, so I'm often in pain from just existing and exercise just cripples me. I think I have PCOS too, which might be why I'm struggling so much to shift the weight with diet alone.

My goal is to lose weight with Mounjaro hopefully, and then follow a Slimming World style diet after (which I still kind of follow now, just not as strict). I've managed to maintain my current weight for a year so I'm pretty confident I can maintain. I've also never tried to lose weight with other people, so I'm hoping this also helps.

Second jab last night but I was rushing and now worried I didn't do it right which is ridiculous because I am an HCP and know how to do bloody injections! Will therefore be obsessing over effects and side effects all week to try and tell if it's working 🙈

Anyway, official weigh in this morning is 3.8kg down, slightly less than the unofficial one yesterday but still very good for one week. Now just need to hope the job kicks in as I was definitely relying on willpower for the last couple of days and not sure how much of that I have left.

AllRevvedUpWithNoPlaceToGo · 19/07/2025 08:30

First weigh in- I lost 2.75lb. Would have liked more in week 1, but given that I can’t normally loose weight whoever I do, I’m celebrating the scales going in the right way.

I started feeling hungry last night, but I was so hungry when I woke up today, I can’t believe I’ve gone my whole life feeling hungry and that other people don’t also feel the same. It’s blown my mind actually.

Mamaxo · 19/07/2025 08:36

Just done my first jab yesterday 🙈 been so anxious about starting it, if you’ve had side effects when did they start?

Artymummy10 · 19/07/2025 08:39

I just did a sneaky weigh and I’ve lost 5% of my starting weight. 12lb down! I’m very pleased

hi all
I stated MJ this time last year and did it for around 5 months, lost less then a stone but was eating better and it controlled my blood sugars as I was told I was pre diabetic

had awful sulphur burps and gas to the point it was embarrassing being around others and with what felt like v slow weight loss I stopped.

today I’ve looked at myself and am even bigger and unhealthier than I was 12 months ago.
I’ve wasted time and money doing very little, back to eating more bad food than good and generally being awful at looking after myself.

I’ve just joined medicspot and ordered a first dose to start again and get this weight off me- my photos are just awful 😩

I am 50 and fat- need to treat this seriously this time and stop ignoring how serious it is and the aches and pains that I have due to being overweight and unhealthy - all fixable and all support and advice welcome!

you don’t mention in your post but it might be a good idea to do some resistance exercise; risk with weight loss is muscle loss so that’s a higher risk the second time around. I’m a member of a gym and have got really into weightlifting - but can start at home with dumbells.

I'm exactly the same. Jabbed on Monday, bad diarrhoea since Tuesday night. I mean bad! I mean up-4-times-in-the-night, cant-be-far-from-the-loo diarrhoea which imodium, etc, isn't touching! I've had to go sick from work because of it and I'm exhausted with it. It's left me questioning what on earth I'm putting into my body? Coupled with that, guess how much I've lost? Nothing! 2 days and 3 nights of chronic diarrhoea and nothing! Even slimming world was better than this....and cheaper!

Sorry, I guess I needed to rant. But can someone whos been in the same position please reassure me that this will all settle down? I'm on the verge of sticking what's left of my pen in the bin!

I found W2 far worse than W1 for SE.
By W3 things had settled down but I found that, I had to force myself to keep eating, even just a couple of mouthfuls.
Peppermint tea and probiotic yoghurt helped. Weirdly the more water I could drink seemed to help with diarrhoea and had electrolytes every day.
I'm W5 now, 11lb down and SE pretty much gone.
Was meant to go up to 5 this week but did the golden dose to delay as its Dr's significant bday next week and am a bit worried that will have same problem increasing

Hi everyone.

Have just done 1st MJ injection. 5 stone to lose. I am going to try calorie counting lowish carb healthy food so when get to goal I hopefully will be able to continue without putting on weight.

Used CheqUp. Applied Thursday evening and MJ arrived today. Very impressed.

Is everyone storing their pen in the fridge?

DabOfPistachio · 19/07/2025 12:22

Hello all, just jumping in to join the July starters. I'm expecting my first jabs to be delivered today but I'm planning on starting Weds evening as I WFH later in the week and want to try avoid the worst side effects while in the office.
SW: 114kg
GW: 75kg
Height: 5'10
Wish me luck. Bit worried about side effects but excited at the prospect of finally getting on top of my weight. I'm so tired of fighting it.

1023nina · 19/07/2025 13:13

end of week 2 update:

Sw 65kg
wk 1 62kg
wk 2 61.4kg
total loss 3.6kg = around 8lb.

I don't think that's too bad was hoping for more but 1st menopause bleed in months, start if a chest infection and not a regular BM either this week.

blood sugar are but more up and down then first week, must watch it more this week but feeling hopefully for week 3.

Thats all i lost on my first week . Steadily lost around 1-2lb a week after that . Some of us are just slow losers . I get disappointed but at least i am still losing. I am very strict too and dont have more than 1000 calories a day , sometimes less.

Nellieinthebarn · 19/07/2025 18:53

Week 4 weigh in, lost exactly a kilo.

Happy with that, and I think I am seeing a bit of a difference in the mirror too.

Its about now that I usually fail on diets, I usually plateau after 4 weeks, and get really fed up with being hungry and not eating anything nice.

Fingers crossed the MJ continues to work, and I don't fall off the wagon.

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 19/07/2025 19:25

Busy day today, out of routine, not able to plan, and that's usually my downfall. But I was completely in control - I was given a sandwich and bag of crisps for lunch and had no problem at all leaving the crisps. Then for dinner I again hadn't planned anything but was able to put together a decent dinner from what's in the freezer and although it isn't 'diet' food I am well within my calorie goal for the day and feeling very satisfied.

Elephantscantjump · 19/07/2025 20:30

Feeling really pleased that I've made it through my first Friday night and Saturday without mindlessly snacking! Will weigh in and jab tomorrow to see how its going.

Hobbiestwriter · 19/07/2025 20:32

Nellieinthebarn · 18/07/2025 19:19

Its my W4 injection and weigh in day tomorrow. I have decided to stick with the 2.5mg for another 4 weeks. This is because I am losing weight, and I am still finding it much easier than without MJ, and I don't want to lose weight any quicker.

I am also going away for a few days during W5, and I don't want any side effects from upping the dose spoiling it.

Being on the 2.5 is enabling me to eat the equivalent of a Slimming World 'speed day' everyday without much stress, and I am losing an average of 2lbs a week. I'm really happy with that.

Obviously if the weight loss slows down a lot, or it becomes much more difficult, I will go up to the next level in week 9.

I'm thinking of staying on 2.5mg next month. Week 3 and the supression does wear off by day 5ish. But i get so tired and achey day 1-2 and get good suppression for a few days. Don't want to increase and then feel sick and terrible. But then, not sure if I will need 5mg to shift more weight...
Ahh, decisions!

Me too, I always get bored after a month. Just lose the willpower. I’ve decided not to count calories as it’s previously become obsessive, I’m eating protein and veg for each meal (well breakfast is Greek 0% yoghurt and berries) and no snacking at all so must be under 1,200 or close to it.

Radioundermypillow · 20/07/2025 07:42

Morning all. First jab last night and I didn't feel a thing, so now paranoid I didnt do it properly. Feel totally fine this morning although I am still laying in bed which isnt normal - feeling tired but slept well. Mouth is very dry. I don't normally feel hungry in the morning so hard to say if its had an effect.

SW 13.5
1st goal 12.4

Took at least 18-24 hours after first jab for me to feel anything.

Doireallywanttodothis · 20/07/2025 08:29

Second injection just done. 6lb lost in first week. Absolutely delighted so far - minimal side effects, still able to enjoy meals but all food noise and cravings for unhealthy food has disappeared (started to reappear the last two days but at an ignorable level). I also used to be a massive daily drinker and haven’t fancied a drop since starting. Just scared it’s too good to be true and it will stop
working!

I ordered some Dulcolax Twelve Plus 5 mg Gastro-resistant tablets from boots. I took one last night at bed time and I’m writing this sat on the toilet while feeling some great relief so.. I can vouch for it 😂

What do you all use for constipation?

I sometimes take magnesium pills (I use Nutrition Geeks Glycinate 3-in-1) for restless legs/busy brain, and as a side effect it gives me a decent clear out the next day. So I've just been using that - only occasionally. Finding I need to pay close attention to veg and fibre and water: if I waver, I get constipated. To be fair this happened before MJ as well, just less noticeably.

Lozzie118 · 20/07/2025 10:27
