Mounjaro July 2025 Starters

daisydreamies · 27/06/2025 14:17

Please let me know if there's already a thread for this! I did have a look and couldn't find anything.

I've just been approved for Mounjaro from Asda. I've been trying to lose weight for seven years. I've tried calorie counting, intermittent fasting, Slimfast, Weight Watchers (it didn't work for me, I was so hungry all the time and ended up overeating so I never lost), and Slimming World (I enjoyed it, but the weight loss for me was too slow so I ended up stopping as it's so expensive). The most successful diet I've been on was when I was breastfeeding my son, but the weight came back on when I stopped. I'm still lighter than I was pre-pregnancy, but this weight is not shifting or if it does it's so slow and I lose the motivation. I tried most for about 4-6 months (except WW, I gave that up after 2).

I can't exercise as I have a chronic illness, so I'm often in pain from just existing and exercise just cripples me. I think I have PCOS too, which might be why I'm struggling so much to shift the weight with diet alone.

My goal is to lose weight with Mounjaro hopefully, and then follow a Slimming World style diet after (which I still kind of follow now, just not as strict). I've managed to maintain my current weight for a year so I'm pretty confident I can maintain. I've also never tried to lose weight with other people, so I'm hoping this also helps.

Hi, my first lot of injections have just come. They are still in the fridge because I'm a bit scared to start them though. I cannot exercise much either, due to arthritis and a dicky ticker, so I am wanting to lose a bit of weight (hopefully about 20kg - fuck me that sounds a lot!) which will help manage both conditions, plus my high blood pressure. My GP is very keen on me losing the weight, and I can honestly say she is right, I do need to.

Although its mainly for my health, I am worried about getting a baggy (baggier, if I'm honest) tummy if I lose a lot of weight. I've had 4 abdominal ops, so I wont ever get a flat tummy without surgery, and that's not happening! but a reduced belly would be amazing. Unless it looks like a balloon that's had all the air let out.

Also worried my large boobs will look like spaniels ears without the fat plumping them up.

Which I know should not be a concern when its to improve my health, but it turns out I am very shallow.

I had done a bit of research and have got a collagen supplement and a collagen body lotion to encourage my skin to shrink along with the fat, and apparently a high protein diet will help as well. I am building up the courage to start the jabs.

I’ll join 🤚. Received my pen this week, will inject tomorrow. Currently 90kg, aiming for 65-70 so a similar loss to you Nellie. It does feel like a mountain, but we can get there one kg at a time.

daisydreamies · 27/06/2025 14:40

I forgot to say how much I'm trying to lose. I'm looking to lose about 20kg too! Not a lot but it would get me into the healthy bmi range. Where I haven't been in quite a long time.

I'm hoping my pen arrives tomorrow, and then I'll inject in the evening. I'm hoping I can do it by myself since both my husband and I aren't the biggest fans of needles. I've signed up for this so seems mean to get my husband to help me if that makes sense haha

I’ve used other pens before daisy. The needles tend to be very small and you don’t really have to look at them, so hopefully you’ll be ok. Of course, if you want the 5th dose you would need to cope with a proper needle, I haven’t ordered any of those just yet.

I guess I could do mine this evening, do you think evenings or mornings are better?

that's reassuring that they're small thank you!

I'm planning on injecting in the evenings, so I can sleep through the beginnings of it working if that makes sense, plus I can do it when my son is asleep. He's 3 a very curious

I’ll join 🤚🏽 I ordered my first pen today which is being delivered tomorrow. Thinking of starting Wednesday/Thursday because I’ve heard it starts to wear off a day or two before jab day, and i cannot allow those days to fall on weekends! I currently weigh 83kg. This time last year I was 61kg (which is too slim for me personally). My goal is 66kg, a 17kg loss. Hoping this thread can help me to stay focused by catching up with people on a similar journey!

AirborneElephant · 27/06/2025 21:46

Have just taken my first jab. The process was very easy, could hardly feel it. Wish me luck.

CarbyB · 27/06/2025 23:12

Good luck @AirborneElephant! How are you feeling 🫣

Feeling good thank you. A slight dull headache when I woke up, mainly gone now. Not feeling any other side effects, haven’t eaten yet but not really expecting any major impact from the starting dose. Hopefully the placebo effect will help with my willpower though 🤣

finalpunt · 28/06/2025 09:16

I'll join, technically June starter as I am due jab 2 today but felt it was to late to join the june one, so hope you you don't mind 😊

Have wanted to try mounjaro for ages and ordered at beginning of June but was on AI holiday and didn't want to suffer side effects whilst away.

They haven't been that bad, except I feel like my sleep has gone back to full menopausal pre hrt. Think its stopping magnesium and progesterone absorbing.

I have always been a huge coffee drinker but seem to pnly be able to drink 1 a day but my mouth is so dry I am drinking at 2.5lts by mid afternoon (never drank water before).

Down 6lbs from first jab, I am stunned but happy

CarbyB · 28/06/2025 09:17

@AirborneElephantGlad to hear you're feeling good overall! Headaches are the worst! It’s encouraging that you're not noticing any other side effects yet! I totally agree with the placebo effect—sometimes just knowing you're taking action can make a big difference with willpower! 😄 I’m starting soon too, so I’m curious to see how we both do on this journey

AirborneElephant · 28/06/2025 09:40

Welcome finalpunt! You and I can be in the sneaky just-pre-July cohort. 6lb down in week 1! Well done, that’s fantastic. I’ve had high losses before in the first week on many diets so I’m hopeful myself. I think we all know that first week is mainly water from reducing carbs and sugar, but it’s still so nice to see 😀

Nellieinthebarn · 28/06/2025 12:01

Just did my first injection, wasn't too bad, I didn't feel it going in at all and just felt a very slight sting when the medicine went in. No where near as bad as the last flu jab I had though. I injected into my belly as that is the largest target!

I watched a 'how to' video on YouTube three times before I felt confident. I'm no loss to the nursing profession, that's for sure.

Starting weight is 84.4 kg, which is 13 stone 7 lbs in old money.

My BMI is 33, I know that is a blunt instrument, but in my case I cannot claim to have a high muscle mass. I estimate I am probably about 30% suet.

To have a BMI of 25 I should aim for a maximum of 67 Kg. So I need to lose
17.4 Kg, or about 38 lbs to put it in terms I can relate to.

Bloody hell. I hope this works, I wasn't this heavy when I was pregnant with a 9 pounder.

I am planning on cutting way down on carbs, eating more lean protein and fruit and veg. A reasonable amount of healthy fats, and as little processed muck as is feasible. I will exercise as much as my knackered body allows.

Good luck everybody.

JimmyGrimble · 28/06/2025 12:18

Can I join? Did my first injection last night and it was surprisingly easy and pain free. No side effects so far. Feeling positive.

i know I’m going to struggle with the water so have bought a new big bottle with a straw - thank you June starter thread!

SilenceInside · 28/06/2025 12:25

@Nellieinthebarn 84.4kg is 13st 4lbs, not 13st 7lbs.

CarbyB · 28/06/2025 12:34

Hi @JimmyGrimblethis is so weird, we all seem to be similar weights and have similar goals!

neveroutofthekitchen · 28/06/2025 12:57

Hi, My first jab will be tomorrow.
Over the last 45 years, I've lost and gained on every diet going. However, I've never reached my target weight. The max I have ever lost is 2 stone, and I need to lose about 6 stone.
My biggest concern is vomiting, as I am very anxious about vomit.
I am also concerned about handling social situations, as I am frequently invited to other people's houses, such as dinner parties, BBQs, and book clubs.

Brilliant! thanks!

AirborneElephant · 28/06/2025 13:31

30% suet 🤣🤣🤣. Accoto my (not remotely accurate I expect) body composition scales I’m 37% pure flab, I’d love to get that down to 30.

Macaroni46 · 28/06/2025 14:10

Following with interest. First jab was on Monday. I immediately noticed a reduction in appetite and whilst I still get that annoying little voice in my head helpfully suggesting I have a biscuit (or similar), now I can dismiss the voice once, and it’s gone. Before, no matter how many times I would try to ignore it, the voice was there. It’s truly been a revelation; is this what a slim person’s daily experience is?
Haven't weighed myself yet as it’s not been a week but I like to think my clothes are a tiny bit looser. Tbh I’m a bit scared to weigh as I’ve always struggled to lose weight and am fully prepared to have lost nothing, as was often the case in the past when following a weight loss programme. Friends would drop 2-3 pounds a week. I’d be lucky to drop 1/2 or one!

Emas82 · 28/06/2025 14:26

I'm going to pop myself in here! I did my first jab on Wednesday afternoon. Haven't felt hungry since! So weird. I've still been able to eat, and I'm calorie counting and trying to get enough protein in. Along with lots of fluids!

AirborneElephant · 28/06/2025 14:37

I’m doing well today. I did my gym session which normally makes me feel ravenous. Felt normal doing it, no excess tiredness or anything. Had a protein shake just with water straight after for muscle protection, then a chicken salad later for lunch. I feel really full and I don’t feel at all like reaching for the ice cream as I might normally do. So if this is real, I’m liking it so far.

PourUsAGlass · 28/06/2025 14:54

Hi ladies, jumping on here if thats OK 😊 i actually had my first jab on Thursday. Woke up yesterday with a mild headache that lasted most of the day. A little nausea, but nothing too bad. But I am absolutely exhausted, which im hoping passes before im back at work on Monday. Good luck everyone.

Glad to hear everyone is doing well. I can’t wait to start on Wednesday! Can’t wait to hear if anyone actually feels good suppression so soon!
