Mounjaro July 2025 Starters

daisydreamies · 27/06/2025 14:17

Please let me know if there's already a thread for this! I did have a look and couldn't find anything.

I've just been approved for Mounjaro from Asda. I've been trying to lose weight for seven years. I've tried calorie counting, intermittent fasting, Slimfast, Weight Watchers (it didn't work for me, I was so hungry all the time and ended up overeating so I never lost), and Slimming World (I enjoyed it, but the weight loss for me was too slow so I ended up stopping as it's so expensive). The most successful diet I've been on was when I was breastfeeding my son, but the weight came back on when I stopped. I'm still lighter than I was pre-pregnancy, but this weight is not shifting or if it does it's so slow and I lose the motivation. I tried most for about 4-6 months (except WW, I gave that up after 2).

I can't exercise as I have a chronic illness, so I'm often in pain from just existing and exercise just cripples me. I think I have PCOS too, which might be why I'm struggling so much to shift the weight with diet alone.

My goal is to lose weight with Mounjaro hopefully, and then follow a Slimming World style diet after (which I still kind of follow now, just not as strict). I've managed to maintain my current weight for a year so I'm pretty confident I can maintain. I've also never tried to lose weight with other people, so I'm hoping this also helps.

Thanks @AirborneElephant, I was so surprised and would have been happy to have just lost 1lb as it's the most I would have been able to lose in ages.
@CarbyB I hadn't thought I felt any different, to start, just noticed that I was getting fuller quicker, normally I wouldn't stop when I met resistance 🤣 a few mouthfuls after though and I could just stop this week. Thought of fatty foods and sweets just don't seem to be doing it for me either. Not sure if its good early supression or if its because im actually drinking loads more water and prioritising proteins more.

AirborneElephant · 28/06/2025 17:47

Well done Em85kk! How are you feeling?

Em85kk · 28/06/2025 18:57

Fine now, I think I was a bit in my head and worrying about having an allergic reaction earlier! Ready to smash it now! 💪🏼 I know a couple of people who’ve used it and had amazing results which gave me the push to do it. Everything crossed it works for us x

Wiggles33 · 28/06/2025 21:15

My first jab arrived today! Been so so nervous about it but heard so many success stories from friends of friends etc so fingers crossed! I feel like I’ve been dieting my whole life, from the Special K diet when I was 16 to Slimming World in my twenties to Calorie Counting in more recent years. Nothing has stuck! So here we go 🤞🏻

SW: 13st
GW: 10st

None of my friends are particularly supportive of the decision so hoping to find some people on here so we can spur each other on 💛

Ill be jabbing tomorrow. Has anyone been experiencing any side effects yet?

CarbyB · 28/06/2025 21:50

Well I bit the bullet and just decided to have my first dose tonight! I was too excited after hearing about your lack of desire for fatty foods @finalpuntill keep you all updated over the next week. I will weigh in tomorrow and each Sunday going forward. Arghhh I pray to the sweet lord this works for us all. We’re going into 2026 as bad b’s with boosted confidence🤣

@Wiggles33welcome!!! You have support in the forum now! My boyfriend is sick of hearing it already so it will be nice to motivate each other and check in here and there 🫶🏾

HelloQuery · 28/06/2025 22:02

I will probably be another July starter. How did you decide which supplier to go with etc?

I used Asda as their prices are the cheapest from what I’ve seen, plus I’ve used their online doctor service before. It did take several days for it to be approved, but I got the medicine the following day after approval!

Hi everyone! Just did my first jab. There was a little sting but it wasn’t bad. The needle is sooo tiny but did make me a bit nervous when I saw it. I’ll update again in the morning with how I’m feeling.

I am proud of myself for doing it and not chickening out and either getting my husband to do it or putting it off to another day.

@HelloQuery have a look at the price comparison site https://monj.co.uk/mounjaro-price-comparison-by-monj/ All the pharmacies listed are registered and regulated. Asda is mid table price wise, there are many cheaper suppliers.

CarbyB · 28/06/2025 22:48

proud of you! Look forward to hearing how you feel in the morning @daisydreamies

@HelloQueryi went with med express, applied yesterday morning, sent photographs and was approved an hour later. Delivered today. With a £40 discount code I found on TikTok, it came to £113.99 with delivery and a sharps bin included. Not toooo shabby! I have heard some people switch companies and make use of the different discount codes, but me personally, will not be dealing with the hassle. I’ll be sticking with med express.

DarkSuitsSadSongs · 28/06/2025 23:09

I ordered this morning and approval came through at 9.00pm. Its due to arrive on Monday.

Slightly nervous about side effects but honestly my weight is out of control. I'm 43 and I just cannot shift any at all. I cut down to 1400 calories a day and over 4 weeks lost a measly 0.5lb. Cut to 1200 calories and weight loss remained the same. I have insulin resistance due to PCOS. I avoid photos with my twins because of my weight and my children have noticed and I feel dreadful. We have a holiday booked in a couple of months and I'm dreading it so bit the bullet and ordered.

Well, it’s been over 24h since my first injection and no side effects at all, not a one, and I was quite nervous as I had gallbladder surgery in April. I’ve managed to keep up my water and I’m working on the protein. I haven’t felt hungry all day although I have eaten my calories (just about). Funny thing - eating my tea I had the feeling that it was fuel. That’s very new!

IveGotALovelyBunchOfCoconutss · 29/06/2025 00:45

Hi all, I’ll join too if that’s ok. Waiting for my first pen to arrive which should be Monday. I’m 3 months post partum with my second and have a 3 year old so worrying I’ll struggle with meal planning and prep. Any tips welcome. Are you all working out calories you should eat in a day and tracking or just trying to eat less in general? I know I should sit down and plan properly but feels like I’m constantly chasing my tail at the minute and struggle for any time for me. I need to do this though so I can round round with my boys as they grow up

Ah I’ve got children of a similar-ish age! A 9 month old and a 4 year old, so totally get the struggle! For this exact reason, I’m not going to track to begin with. Generally, I think the meals are eat are well balanced and are cooked from scratch etc so I’m just going to keep that up but see if I can cope with smaller portions and no snacking in between.

If that doesn’t work and I find I’m not losing, I’ll then look at counting calories etc but would rather avoid it tbh.

AirborneElephant · 29/06/2025 08:06

I’m also not really tracking. I figure I was eating almost 1000 calories in snacks most days - nuts, crisps, ice cream, smoothies, chocolate, wine, g&t all add up quickly. Plus I know my portions are often too big and I eat past when I’m full. So I hope that if I can fix those and focus on 2 healthy meals a day I should be good.

Oooh good luck! I had my first jab on Thursday, woke up a little headachey on Friday morning and felt slightly nauseous throughout the day, but nothing I couldn't cope with. Suppression kicked in aswell, so didn't really fancy much to eat, but made sure I stuck to my calories. Keep an eye on your protein intake, I've got some shakes in the fridge for if im not feeling particularly hungry.
The tiredness was hard work yesterday though, I felt exhausted all day, but have a lot more energy today.
Also, im craving healthy foods for meals, its so strange, the thought of greasy, fatty foods just doesn't appeal at all. Lots of veggies and salad stuff in my fridge lol. Can't believe how quickly the suppression set in, I was really cynical as im a snacker, ill eat even if im not hungry, but I've walked past the 'shit cupboard' in my kitchen and not even been tempted to open the door 😂
And im 3lb down 🥳 x

I’m going to just be careful with what I eat and hope the suppression helps me eat less, but if I don’t lose weight I’ll do calorie counting (I really hate it).

daisydreamies · 29/06/2025 11:30

I woke up a little headachey, but not sure if it’s from the jab or because my son kept waking me up. I’ve not been hungry at all and I tried to drink a pepsi max and it tasted awful which surprised me. Just tasted of chemicals. I was so worried I’d feel sick since I hate the feeling and I hate being sick, but so far I’ve been feeling fine

OP posts:
AirborneElephant · 29/06/2025 13:37

That’s good daisydreamies, I hope your headache clears soon. Everything has tasted ok to me, but thinking about it I’ve had nothing sweet since the jab. And not really thought about it, which is very unusual for me 😀

Hope everyone is coping ok in the heat. Remember to drink lots, and if you’re not eating much remember the electrolytes as well.

CarbyB · 29/06/2025 13:38

I am very surprised. After taking my first jab last night, I did not expect to feel any suppression for the first few weeks. I have no interest in food today, the food noise has completely gone which is very surprising as the past few weeks I have ate everything in sight. I’ve ate nothing today as of yet but that is most likely because I ate so much the days prior (this doesn’t usually stop me)! From tomorrow I will be eating 3 high protein meals a day minimum, and snacks if I feel like it(while maintaining a deficit). 10,000 steps a day and weight training 3 times a week.

AbitSceptical · 29/06/2025 15:40

Can I join? I’ve been considering this for a while and have just seen photos of myself that have convinced me to go for it.

This is what triggered me to take the plunge, it’s not until you see a photograph of yourself that you realise how unhealthy you look/are 🫠

Thischarmlessgirl · 29/06/2025 17:00

Please can I join. I took my first injection yesterday after deliberating about it for a few weeks. I’ve been worried about the side-effects, but so far so good. Not sure if it’s placebo or the real thing that I haven’t felt hungry at all today.
SW 13.1lbs
GW 10.12lbs
I am 5ft 6
I am going on holiday in a month so hoping to feel a bit better in my clothes for that. I also have PCOS which makes weight loss difficult and no will power!

AirborneElephant · 29/06/2025 17:27

I’m going on holiday soon as well, mine is in two weeks. That’s probably a bit early to expect to see much change, but it would be nice if I could drop an inch or so around my waist so my walking trousers fit better. I’ve been trying to pretend I’m still a 16-18 for ages when really I’m probably at least a 20 😳.
