Mounjaro July 2025 Starters

daisydreamies · 27/06/2025 14:17

Please let me know if there's already a thread for this! I did have a look and couldn't find anything.

I've just been approved for Mounjaro from Asda. I've been trying to lose weight for seven years. I've tried calorie counting, intermittent fasting, Slimfast, Weight Watchers (it didn't work for me, I was so hungry all the time and ended up overeating so I never lost), and Slimming World (I enjoyed it, but the weight loss for me was too slow so I ended up stopping as it's so expensive). The most successful diet I've been on was when I was breastfeeding my son, but the weight came back on when I stopped. I'm still lighter than I was pre-pregnancy, but this weight is not shifting or if it does it's so slow and I lose the motivation. I tried most for about 4-6 months (except WW, I gave that up after 2).

I can't exercise as I have a chronic illness, so I'm often in pain from just existing and exercise just cripples me. I think I have PCOS too, which might be why I'm struggling so much to shift the weight with diet alone.

My goal is to lose weight with Mounjaro hopefully, and then follow a Slimming World style diet after (which I still kind of follow now, just not as strict). I've managed to maintain my current weight for a year so I'm pretty confident I can maintain. I've also never tried to lose weight with other people, so I'm hoping this also helps.

Medexpress wanted a photo. I was half hoping they'd refuse me. They didn't 🤣

Kewforyourlife · 22/07/2025 09:32

Coming to the end of my first week, I know its a long game but im still disappointed I haven't lost any weight, been tracking all my calories, averaging 1200 ish, drinking lots of water etc. Had zero side effects too, to the point im worrying I didn't inject it properly! Onwards though...

My supplier didn't want scales either, just took my word for it

Who are you using? Although I am happy for now with SheMed.

Hi everyone hope I can join. My first pen is due to arrive today. Question about starting. Obviously keen to get started asap.I have an event next wed evening that I’m really keen not to have side effects for. Would I be better starting tomorrow night (and then next wed) or start today and delay dose by a day next week? I’m wfh all week this week but really busy at weekend so getting side effects out of way during week whilst I’m at home is quite appealing.

If the wedding is next Wed I would start on Thurs and make Thurs the injection day? Or take first dose now and delay next weeks if you have any side effects.

MeridaBrave · 22/07/2025 09:42

Sux2buthen · 21/07/2025 22:01

It’s 153 for the second pen.

I’m using SheMed. It’s £99 for the first month which includes a blood test and £160 after that - for any dose. They insist you start on 2.5, and then it’s 5 from the second month (unless bad side effects) they decide if you increase but don’t charge more. It’s likely good value for those who have a lot to lose and are likely to require the higher doses that other suppliers charge more for.

Radioundermypillow · 22/07/2025 09:48

Day 3 and feeling pretty normal. In the hairdressers - normally I'd have a latte and inhale the free biscuits. Having a tea instead and no real desire to eat the biscuits which are still in front of me. I'd say I'm still having to use some willpower and a lot of my eating is habit, not hunger, so not being hungry doesn't usually matter to me - I'll eat anyway. But I now have ability to say no to myself. Weird.

No breakfast so far and probs won't eat now until 12 ish. That's not that unusual for me as I often skip breakfast.

flipent · 22/07/2025 10:18

I'm on day 5 and cannot believe the difference! I am 7lbs down which is insane - but the portions I'm eating are just a fraction of what I was eating before.

I was always smug about cooking from scratch - but when you're then eating enough for a small family by yourself, I guess that negates the positives!

I've also got no interest in alcohol, which is so liberating.

The effect was basically instant and I'm blown away. Can't believe I waited this long because I didn't want to take a couple of pictures!

Sux2buthen · 22/07/2025 10:21

Ah yes, the photo GrinI asked my 8 year old to take mine. I told her I was going to make myself look as bad as possible but to take a sample photo first. Well that was humbling 😂😂no extra bad looking poses needed after all
Injected my third dose last night. Woke at 1.30 this morning with the most horrific heartburn and needing the loo. It was awful and I swore off the jab but it did wear off, more normal today. I’m wearing a top/ dress that usually looks like I’m about 8 months pregnant in but today I’m looking more like 4 months so definite improvement. Already noticing smaller boobs dammit

Medexpress. They just asked for photos of me

zerofeeling · 22/07/2025 10:36

Morning all! First dose last night - I was expecting a lot of side effects going by all the posts I've read but I feel exactly the same so far.

I don't usually eat breakfast and then as soon as I have something, usually around 1pm, it just sets me off grazing non-stop so I'll see what happens later..

4th jab taken at weekend..will extract golden dose for next one but pleased to have be at 14st 5..started on 14s 13..had lost 2 stone alone but plateaued and using the monjoura to help with the next stone.

I didn't need to extract to get the dose out. I primed as usual then just used pliers to keep turning the pen until I got to 1 again and injected as normal. It wasnt that hard, just needed firmer turner than could do by hand

Illjusthavethebreadsticks · 22/07/2025 11:36

Have taken the plunge this morning literally ! Surprising easy to administer the instructions looked a bit complicated so I followed the you tube instructions. Bled a little at the site of the injection. Ah well let’s see what happens !

Thanks - that’s really helpful to know .

Jab four done this morning. A day late, which I am going to do for the next two jab as I want to change my jab day to Thursday. I'm finding myself very hungry at weekends and its too easy to over eat. I have a better handle on it when I'm at work during the week.

Tempted to try the golden dose but I really want to move up to 5mg. I'm not really feeling the suppression as much as others and not sure if there is any point in sticking at 2.5mg.

I think the golden dose can be a dose and a bit, so it’s helpful for moving up as it’s half way there. I do my jabs on Thursday for that reason - I find weekend the hardest.

Vamoosh80 · 22/07/2025 12:56

W3 D3 here. I had to call in sick yesterday because I felt absolutely dreadful. Pounding headache and severe nausea. Hoping it was a bug rather than the jabs. I've lost little weight so far (just under a kilo) but I have completely gone off all food. I had hoped to compliment the jabs with exercise but so far I've just felt too meh to do it. Hoping it all settles for me soon. For those that did have SE how long did they take to subside? At this rate might not bother sticking it out!

The golden dose will be a little bit more that 2.5.

WhereIsSpot · 22/07/2025 14:25

Thanks for golden dose info. I just ordered needles and syringes. Sounds like they are making the pens more tamper proof.

Radioundermypillow · 22/07/2025 15:18

Can you do a golden dose with Wegovy?

Just beware that they often break when forced. From what I’ve read on these threads it’s 50/50 as to whether it works. If they break the liquid gets wasted, so have a pen there just in case.

ConcernedFriendgbvc56 · 22/07/2025 16:29

I started last Thursday evening on 2.5mg and while I had good suppression the first few days it’s pretty much gone now and I am craving all sorts of unhealthy foods.

does it wear off for anyone else after 4/5 days?

flipent · 22/07/2025 16:33

@ConcernedFriendgbvc56 I started last Friday - I've not lost any suppression yet - but will let you know tomorrow!
Edit to say that there where Scones, Clotted Cream and jam at work today (including cherry, my favourite) did want one and didn't feel like I was depriving myself.

Yes it’s wearing off for me. Need to use willpower. I’m managing as I always got derailed at the weekend and I’m taking it on Thursday. My second pen is a 5mg and I’ll take the full golden dose which will be more like 3.75mg.

Muppies65 · 22/07/2025 19:01

Sux2buthen · 21/07/2025 18:43

I need to order my second pen, I’ve decided to stay at 2.5 this time.
Im not sure whether to use the same company or try and shop around for cheaper. Or is it not worth the hassle?

I stayed on 2.5 and did change supplier saved money and it really was no hassle

abitscaredarentI · 22/07/2025 19:26

I've done it! Taken my first jab today.
I'm a bit scared? What if I have side effects? What if I don't lose any weight? What if wha tif wh atif...
So I bought it, harassed my gp to get blood tests as thorough as they'd allow me to, and I've started. Within 30 min I had such an intense sugar craving (usual for me) that I can't wait to see how it will help me :)
