Mounjaro July 2025 Starters

daisydreamies · 27/06/2025 14:17

Please let me know if there's already a thread for this! I did have a look and couldn't find anything.

I've just been approved for Mounjaro from Asda. I've been trying to lose weight for seven years. I've tried calorie counting, intermittent fasting, Slimfast, Weight Watchers (it didn't work for me, I was so hungry all the time and ended up overeating so I never lost), and Slimming World (I enjoyed it, but the weight loss for me was too slow so I ended up stopping as it's so expensive). The most successful diet I've been on was when I was breastfeeding my son, but the weight came back on when I stopped. I'm still lighter than I was pre-pregnancy, but this weight is not shifting or if it does it's so slow and I lose the motivation. I tried most for about 4-6 months (except WW, I gave that up after 2).

I can't exercise as I have a chronic illness, so I'm often in pain from just existing and exercise just cripples me. I think I have PCOS too, which might be why I'm struggling so much to shift the weight with diet alone.

My goal is to lose weight with Mounjaro hopefully, and then follow a Slimming World style diet after (which I still kind of follow now, just not as strict). I've managed to maintain my current weight for a year so I'm pretty confident I can maintain. I've also never tried to lose weight with other people, so I'm hoping this also helps.

What do you all use for constipation?

Gunpowder! Seriously, high strength sensor, glycerine suppositories. The secret though is to drink lots of water - LOTS. Like 3 litres a day.

Senacot even! Really must review before I post!

Week 2 weigh in and 2.5lbs down. Was hoping for more but I know it’s better to lose it gradually.
3rd jab today on 2.5.

How has everyone’s week been?

you don’t mention in your post but it might be a good idea to do some resistance exercise; risk with weight loss is muscle loss so that’s a higher risk the second time around. I’m a member of a gym and have got really into weightlifting - but can start at home with dumbells.

Those stretchy bands are good too

Gunpowder 🤣 That's some serious constipation!

Struggling a little more with willpower today. Day 5 of week 1.

I have them also, useful on holiday. I think ok in short term but to increase muscle mass over the longer term need to lift something heavy.

Suppression is kicking my arse today- W3 D3. I’ve felt sick all day and literally stood at the fridge staring into it to decide what to make for dinner because everything made me feel nauseous. Hoping tomorrow is better because I so don’t want to lose weight too fast. I’m very worried about gallbladder and pancreatitis issues.

How many calories is everyone eating? I’m only on day 3 and eating around 1800/2000 calories previously was eating close to 3000/3500, for context I have over 8 stone to lose xx

I still haven't found the magic formula, but things are a moving a bit with a couple of nights of senokot. Only week 2 so hoping it passes. Literally.

I'm on about 12-1300. Not deliberately, my target is 1750, but I'm finding that's where 3 healthy meals ends up. I've got well over 10 stone to lose, no idea what I was eating before.

Catladyof7 · 20/07/2025 20:41

I am trying to stick to 1000 a day .
Still have 3 stone to lose .

stormageddmum · 20/07/2025 20:56

1,200 for me but had a few days where eaten just under 1,000 which is maybe not too healthy. I have less suppression this week so find I want to eat more. Have you used a free calculator to check you basal.metabolic rate / find out how many calories you need to eat to be in deficit?

Kneeboobs · 20/07/2025 21:03

Around 1,000 to 1,200 but making sure I have 100g protein. I don’t want to lose muscle mass.

Radioundermypillow · 20/07/2025 22:01

What's everyone eating for protein? Ive got some protein shakes and clear protein drink but they are really filling.

Catladyof7 · 20/07/2025 22:04

Mine was 1000 calories as only 5ft 1 inch tall

Best low fat sources
chicken breast (or turkey)
most fish (tinned tuna, cod haddock etc)
fat free dairy, esp fat free cottage cheese, skyr and fage 0%
egg whites (I buy in cartons)

I have had some protein bars and a couple of protein pudding type things that wernt that nice to be honest. The bars are ok though . I struggle to eat as much protein as people expect you to eat as well.
I am older though at 68 and i dont and never have had breakfast . I used to have a milky coffee and a piece of cake around 3.30pm and then a meal at night. But uses to eats sweets , chocolate and nuts at night . No snacks now or cake . Losing but slowly . 7 lbs in 4 weeks . Have been on 2.5 , then yesterday did 3.75 from my 5 mg pen . Will be doing the full 5mg next week

Hello! Glad to have a weight buddy! I very excited to be back in the 18 bracket (can’t believe I’m saying that) it’s been a long time!

Lost a little less this week but still a steady loss, and have been eating more 'normally' as feeling less constipated. Am eating proper meals and enjoying my food just in smaller portions and more veg and protein heavy. I've had the occasional snack of say a yoghurt or babybel when hungry but still finding it fairly easy to not eat junk
At the moment I do feel like I'll go up to 5 next month as the suppression wore off pretty quickly last week, but I'll make the call nearer the time.

Hi has anyone on here noticed their ibs symptoms have eased with the jab? Worried to start as I already have tummy problems with ibs and don’t know if it will make it worse.

I would talk to your doctor about this.

Radioundermypillow · 21/07/2025 08:34

I started on Saturday and have already lost a pound. Not surprising as I have no real desire to eat anything. This morning I feel pretty nauseous. Im going to force myself to drive to the shop and buy some porridge oats which I've become mildly fixated on. And some mint tea.

I haven't had a coffee yet which is unheard of. Feeling a bit sorry for my body that must be very confused by all this.
