Please let me know if there's already a thread for this! I did have a look and couldn't find anything.

I've just been approved for Mounjaro from Asda. I've been trying to lose weight for seven years. I've tried calorie counting, intermittent fasting, Slimfast, Weight Watchers (it didn't work for me, I was so hungry all the time and ended up overeating so I never lost), and Slimming World (I enjoyed it, but the weight loss for me was too slow so I ended up stopping as it's so expensive). The most successful diet I've been on was when I was breastfeeding my son, but the weight came back on when I stopped. I'm still lighter than I was pre-pregnancy, but this weight is not shifting or if it does it's so slow and I lose the motivation. I tried most for about 4-6 months (except WW, I gave that up after 2).

I can't exercise as I have a chronic illness, so I'm often in pain from just existing and exercise just cripples me. I think I have PCOS too, which might be why I'm struggling so much to shift the weight with diet alone.

My goal is to lose weight with Mounjaro hopefully, and then follow a Slimming World style diet after (which I still kind of follow now, just not as strict). I've managed to maintain my current weight for a year so I'm pretty confident I can maintain. I've also never tried to lose weight with other people, so I'm hoping this also helps.

hi all can I join in? I took my first jab last Wednesday. All good to start with but I have had to take today off work due to 3 days of terrible terrible runs. I’m anxious about doing my second jab and was thinking about taking a half dose. I’ve read a lot on here about counting clicks but not sure how to know how many clicks is half a dose? 2.5mg any advice much appreciated.

Wildflowerblooms · 21/07/2025 09:18

Tonight will be my 4th jab. I lost another two pounds this week and while it’s not coming off super fast, the scale is lower each week so I’ll take it. This week I haven’t had any real side effects so I’m happy with that. I was really hungry Saturday and yesterday which was disappointing, but I have an appointment with my gp’s office Thursday to talk about moving up to 5mg next month.

Changing to kg because my scale will simply tell me how much I weigh and I don’t have to do the maths.

@Shortstuff29 I split my doses and have from day 1. So 30 clicks is 1.25mg. I have been taking one dose on a Tuesday morning and one on a Thursday, but I noticed my suppression wasn’t as great this last week, so I think I’m going to try taking the full dose this week 🤞 Good luck!

Thanks so much. Think I’m going to try that. Don’t want to just give up but can’t spend my entire week in the bathroom!

After any initial loss, 1kg (or 2lbs) a week is really a good amount. It’s a deficit of 1,000 calories a day, and I think it would be hard to get above this amount whilst still getting adequate nutrition.

neveroutofthekitchen · 21/07/2025 10:07

Week 3 weigh in and I have lost 2lb as well

SW 16st 9lb
CW 15st 12.5lb

W1 day 2
Some nausea this morning and a headache. Forced myself to drink a coffee with almond milk because I've had a few of those every morning for about 5 years and think my body was rebelling - might be a good time to cut down though. Then had 30g porridge oats, 10g oatbran, blueberries and almond milk. Just letting it all digest before I start on the water.

Anyone doing weights? I'm not new to a weights workout but I'm very motivated. I've been following a programme by Henley Fitness on Instagram, can feel some muscle under the...er...soft bits 😁

I’m struggling so much with insomnia I took my 1st injection on Wednesday and I’ve not had a decent night sleep since Thursday . When I do eventually get to sleep I have very vivid and disturbing dreams . I’m exhausted . Has anyone else experienced this as it’s not listed as a side effect as far as I can see. I work nightshift so hugely appreciate my sleep . Not sure if I’ll be taking another dose as it’s torture

Hi has anyone on here noticed their ibs symptoms have eased with the jab? Worried to start as I already have tummy problems with ibs and don’t know if it will make it worse.

Yes me. I suffered horribly with ibs for years. I ended up on amitriptyline which despite being of the max dose did nothing. My stomach would grow at least 5 inches through the day. I tried so many things - kept a food diary for almost years and no matter what I ate I woke up bloated and went to bed even more bloated. Food would upset my tummy but not eating also resulted in pain and upset tummy.

I take my 4th jab tomorrow and I've had zero flare ups. Food no longer goes straight through, my tummy isn't bloated and I have no cramps.

Bunnie22 · 21/07/2025 12:42

I had the same last week (it was my second week). 3 days off work unable to leave the loo. Advice from peeps on here was to keep the fluids up and it will pass. Imodium and pepto-bismol really helped. I was in 2 minds whether to jab this week, but have done this morning - Monday is my usual jab day. I'll see how it goes this week.
60 clicks is full dose, so 30 is half dose.

Artymummy10 · 21/07/2025 12:46

I’m in week 3 and appetite suppression definitely seems a little less this week. Has anyone else found similar?

Insomnia is listed as a,side effects. Have you tried magnesium? It's got for twitchy legs and restless brains.

I've had insomnia and think its mounjaro.
I was bad with peri menopause anyway but taking HRT and magnesium before bed had helped loads. Ever since using mj it's getting worse.
I'm W5 day 3 so have stuck with it though as weight loss is going well and don't want to give it up.
I am trying to take progesterone and magnesium at least hour before my evening meal to see if that helps but also delayed going up to 5 this week as have a few big events at work and was worried it would make it worse

I mentioned it at my work medical that I wasn’t sleeping. She recommended phenegan and taking progesterone from HRT at bedtime.

i now take the following at every bedtime every night and I sleep well.

progesterone from HRT
melatonin 10mg
magnesium
Phenegan (25mcg tablets I take half each day)

Radioundermypillow · 21/07/2025 14:28

Careful with the phenergan. Promethazine can be a bugger to get off.

I sleep terrible and have done for a good few years now.
I take magnesium as i have restless lefgs and they help that but not the sleeping .
I lie in bed for hours sometimes and it does get me down .
Then i fall asleep early morning eventually and get up really late .
I am 68 so dont work , but i lose half my day .
Have tried all the usual, going to bed earlier , bedroom is cool , nothing works

She said it wasn’t addictive! I don’t think it is, I often forget to take at the weekend and it’s not a problem.

Thischarmlessgirl · 21/07/2025 15:06

Well, I did my fourth jab last week, but the suppression is still really strong, if anything it feels like it’s getting worse so I’m feeling nauseous a lot of of the time and struggling to eat much, I am forcing myself and having soups and protein but I literally don’t fancy ANYTHING!
I’ve lost 3kg in 4 weeks
SW 82.4kg
CW 79kg
I have to say, I’m not enjoying this level of constant nausea and suppression though, I’m going on holiday later this week and I’m a bit worried about it so thinking about taking one job before I go and then not taking the second one until I’m back

When you look at it from the point of being a 1,000 less calories a day, you’re right it’s a fairly big achievement. It does make me feel better about losing 1kg/2lb a week. Thanks.

Not as bad as you, but I am struggling to sleep - took until 2am this morning! Then was awake at 4am and on and off with really vivid dreams after that. I’ve just started my second week. Hoping it settles for both of us soon. I’ve also stopped drinking (was a daily drinker) so think that’s part of my sleep disturbance as well.

AirborneElephant · 21/07/2025 15:53

Did my 4 week weigh in today
SW 88.9 kg
W1: 86.0 kg
W2: 84.9 kg
W3: 83.4 kg
W4: 83.3 kg

so I’ve maintained for a week, which I’m thrilled about as I was on holiday, ate several large meals, wine, cocktails ect ect. Hoping the weight will start moving again this week.

BUT, is anyone else just getting a bit bored of it now? I suppose I always feel like this a month or so into a diet, but I’m just feeling a bit tired of thinking about protein, water, fiber, exercise ect. How do I get the motivation back?
