Mounjaro July 2025 Starters

daisydreamies · 27/06/2025 14:17

Please let me know if there's already a thread for this! I did have a look and couldn't find anything.

I've just been approved for Mounjaro from Asda. I've been trying to lose weight for seven years. I've tried calorie counting, intermittent fasting, Slimfast, Weight Watchers (it didn't work for me, I was so hungry all the time and ended up overeating so I never lost), and Slimming World (I enjoyed it, but the weight loss for me was too slow so I ended up stopping as it's so expensive). The most successful diet I've been on was when I was breastfeeding my son, but the weight came back on when I stopped. I'm still lighter than I was pre-pregnancy, but this weight is not shifting or if it does it's so slow and I lose the motivation. I tried most for about 4-6 months (except WW, I gave that up after 2).

I can't exercise as I have a chronic illness, so I'm often in pain from just existing and exercise just cripples me. I think I have PCOS too, which might be why I'm struggling so much to shift the weight with diet alone.

My goal is to lose weight with Mounjaro hopefully, and then follow a Slimming World style diet after (which I still kind of follow now, just not as strict). I've managed to maintain my current weight for a year so I'm pretty confident I can maintain. I've also never tried to lose weight with other people, so I'm hoping this also helps.

Thanks everyone for advice .i have bought some magnesium today. I’m peri menopause also and having a few nights off on holiday has proberly also upset my body clock. I’m willing to try anything. Also doesn’t help the unusually hot weather we’re having in Scotland just now

Did my 4 week weigh in today
SW 88.9 kg
W1: 86.0 kg
W2: 84.9 kg
W3: 83.4 kg
W4: 83.3 kg

so I’ve maintained for a week, which I’m thrilled about as I was on holiday, ate several large meals, wine, cocktails ect ect. Hoping the weight will start moving again this week.

BUT, is anyone else just getting a bit bored of it now? I suppose I always feel like this a month or so into a diet, but I’m just feeling a bit tired of thinking about protein, water, fiber, exercise ect. How do I get the motivation back?

This always happens to me too. Tbh at the moment I am just eating three normal balanced meals, but a lot smaller than normal. I'm trying not ti get obsessed with macros.

I'm basically trying to retrain myself to eat how I'd like to eat when I come off WLI.

No snacking or alcohol seem to be two big takeaways for me

AirborneElephant · 21/07/2025 17:21

You’re right, certainly on the snacking and alcohol here too. Maybe I should just relax things a bit and aim for 1lb a week rather than 2. But then it starts to feel like a very long haul, it’s already going to take me six months to shed the 25kg I need to get rid of, I’m not sure I can afford / mentally cope with a full year.

When you look at it from the point of being a 1,000 less calories a day, you’re right it’s a fairly big achievement. It does make me feel better about losing 1kg/2lb a week. Thanks.

Another way of looking at it is this;
1kg a week is 142g of fat a day. Envisage that on the scale (a block of butter is 250g so just over half a block. Each day of a 1,000 deficit you are using half a block of butters worth of less food.

PsychedelicSheep · 21/07/2025 18:27

Hi all 👋🏼
I had my first jab last night, wasn’t organised enough to pack lunch and too skint to buy food out so have only had a banana and protein shake today which is not ideal but I only started getting hungry around 3-4pm. Am waiting on my partner to finish cooking and now starving though!

I went with Morrisons/phlo, my BMI is 29.5 so i had to fudge the numbers very slightly! No SE so far, am expecting them to come on later in the week.

i don’t have scales at home so weighing is always sporadic when I’m at someone else’s house or maybe the gym. Have only told my kids and partner so far, probably won’t mention it to anyone else unless they bring it up, then will play it by ear!

Sux2buthen · 21/07/2025 18:43

I need to order my second pen, I’ve decided to stay at 2.5 this time.
Im not sure whether to use the same company or try and shop around for cheaper. Or is it not worth the hassle?

VordLoldemort · 21/07/2025 18:43

Had my 4th jab today and also weigh day.
starting weight 17 stone,
wk 1 - 6lb
wk 2 - 1lb
wk 3 - 1lb

little bit disappointed at only losing 1lb the last two weeks as I’ve really been eating clean and staying in a deficit, I have a feeling the pre diabetic insulin resistance is responsible for that though so I’m reserving judgement until I’m a few months in I think.

Does insulin resistance make a difference? I’m new to all of this.

Hello! Glad to have a weight buddy! I very excited to be back in the 18 bracket (can’t believe I’m saying that) it’s been a long time!

Yeah I know what you mean it's been years for me

Yes it can lead to weight gain, and make it harder to lose weight. I’m not particularly old (34) and didn’t previously struggle with weight, so for me personally I feel the correlation.

crazycadetmum · 21/07/2025 20:59

4th jab taken at weekend..will extract golden dose for next one but pleased to have be at 14st 5..started on 14s 13..had lost 2 stone alone but plateaued and using the monjoura to help with the next stone.

1lb is 500 calorie deficit a day. Do you know how many calories you are eating?

My supplier makes me stand on scales every week as part of a weigh in / check it. It’s an AI bot. Need to scale box and then stand on scales. How did they verify weight if no scales?

Fudging the numbers is maddening. There's guidance there for a reason.

I’m not sure it’s worth the hassle, what are you paying?

PsychedelicSheep · 21/07/2025 21:22

I held a small weight behind my back when on the scales. The photos of me are legit.

I know I’m not the only one who’s done this and I spoke with my trainer at the gym, an nhs dietitian who goes to my gym and a good friend who’s a GP first. They all said the 30 BMI will be reduced very soon and to go for it.

Haha yes I did this too, I had a 2kg dumbell down the back of my trousers. I didn’t have to do photos.

Why is it maddening? Each to their own… my sister in law lost a lot of weight and is still on WLI even those her BMI is likely under 20. I know loads of people in that category. Why is it ok to take WLI long term to maintain a BMI of 20 but yet not ok to take it to reduce BMI from 29 to 25? I’m being super careful about healthy eating (always eating over 1000 calories with at least 120g protein) and weight lifting (I lift heavy most days) so I am doing it very responsibly.

Catladyof7 · 21/07/2025 22:01

A BMI of under 20 is ridiculous and seems to be more than a weight problem. Will be having anorexia at that rate . Being too thin makes you look haggard as well

Good evening all, so i had 3 jab Saturday also had a really tough and rough weekend with being sick and really chesty, had GP visit this morning so I've a chest infection so on steroids and antibiotics, this is what happens when you have asthma, to make matters worse the steroids and antibiotics will up my sugar level highest record since starting jab levels are 22.6 up from a 7 since being on jab, madness anyone that's diabetic will understand stand my pain, and worries with ketone affects which caused me a 10 day hospital stay 2 months ago which is why they put me on jab also with wanting me to drop some Kg, good news is that my Hab1c is 60 which in may it was 101, is amazing if I don't say myself, last time I was that liw was in 2019, 6months after diagnosis.... my appetite is very poor again this week, water intake has been mad i cant stop drinking, put not good when you cough a have a little trickle 🤦‍♂️* *at least my muscles are having a full body work out!!!

Sux2buthen · 21/07/2025 22:38

Sending lots of feel good soon vibes your way!

Brightonbelly · 22/07/2025 06:35

Hi everyone hope I can join. My first pen is due to arrive today. Question about starting. Obviously keen to get started asap.I have an event next wed evening that I’m really keen not to have side effects for. Would I be better starting tomorrow night (and then next wed) or start today and delay dose by a day next week? I’m wfh all week this week but really busy at weekend so getting side effects out of way during week whilst I’m at home is quite appealing.

My supplier didn't want scales either, just took my word for it

Anycrispsleft · 22/07/2025 08:40

I'm on W2 D2 today. I just weighed myself this morning and I've lost about 1.5kg - Im a bit worried that it's low compared to the sort of large water losses you see a lot of people posting in their first week. I've not been calorie counting and I had like takeaway and some wine on the weekend so it's not like Ive been seriously dieting but just kind of worrying that if it was 1.5kg in the first week, will it be even slower next week? I know that I'm nowhere near a full dose yet though so it should pick up in time. Got wicked heartburn this week as well.
