Mounjaro July 2025 Starters

daisydreamies · 27/06/2025 14:17

Please let me know if there's already a thread for this! I did have a look and couldn't find anything.

I've just been approved for Mounjaro from Asda. I've been trying to lose weight for seven years. I've tried calorie counting, intermittent fasting, Slimfast, Weight Watchers (it didn't work for me, I was so hungry all the time and ended up overeating so I never lost), and Slimming World (I enjoyed it, but the weight loss for me was too slow so I ended up stopping as it's so expensive). The most successful diet I've been on was when I was breastfeeding my son, but the weight came back on when I stopped. I'm still lighter than I was pre-pregnancy, but this weight is not shifting or if it does it's so slow and I lose the motivation. I tried most for about 4-6 months (except WW, I gave that up after 2).

I can't exercise as I have a chronic illness, so I'm often in pain from just existing and exercise just cripples me. I think I have PCOS too, which might be why I'm struggling so much to shift the weight with diet alone.

My goal is to lose weight with Mounjaro hopefully, and then follow a Slimming World style diet after (which I still kind of follow now, just not as strict). I've managed to maintain my current weight for a year so I'm pretty confident I can maintain. I've also never tried to lose weight with other people, so I'm hoping this also helps.

That has just reminded me fellow July-ers! The 30 days requires a max temperature of 30 degrees. So if it’s going to be above that for you this week and you don’t have air-con you might want to pop the pens in the fridge!

I’ve kept mine in the fridge to be on the safe side since the temperature where I am has been very up and down. Some days it’s low 20s and then it shoots up to 30s and then back down to low 20s again

Took my first one last night- eventually!
Was up at 6 with the kids, no ounce of hunger yet…not even a desire to nibble their toast like usual. Whether it’s the drug or placebo effect who knows, but I guess it ultimately doesn’t matter haha
I have however got a funny feeling in my stomach…wouldn’t say it’s nausea but definitely feeling a bit off. Also ‘been to the loo’ 3x times already this morning, which is unusual 🙈

I didn’t get a funny feeling until 24 hours after I jabbed. I’ve got a funny tummy today, but at least it’s not too unpleasant. I’ve had worse funny tummies due to being lactose intolerant

I wish I weighed myself the morning of the day I jabbed. I weighed myself this morning (almost a week after I weighed myself for the application process) and I’ve already lost 2.5kg. Not sure if it’s because of the jab or I’ve just lost it gradually over the past week.

Felt not great yesterday, a bit of a headache, a bit nauseous and a bit tired. But to be honest all of that could of been down to the weather, it was incredibly close and thundery here. I wish we could have a good storm to clear the air, but it keeps just threatening then buggering off again.

I didn't feel much different regarding hunger yesterday sadly, woke up ready for breakfast as usual. Ate a smaller portion lunch, but with extra veggies, and a salad for tea. It was just like a 'being good' day on Slimming World really.

Today I had yogurt and fruit for breakfast about 9 (later for me) a couple of glasses of water, and mugs of tea. Normally by now I'd have a biscuit (x3) and a cuppa, but no biscuit craving in evidence. Probably the first time since I was weaned on Farleys rusks!

I must say its very helpful its summer, all the salad and fruit is lovely, and no one feels like big heavy meals.

Well done, that’s amazing 👏.

My application was last Monday as well, and I also started dieting properly then. I’ve lost 2.9kg, of which 1.3 was before the first Jab. Very happy with that, I know it will slow now as that’s most of the “easy” glycogen/water weight gone. I may have another kg or so of that as I do quite a bit of exercise, but we should both be into the proper fat burning this week. Let’s hope the losses continue!

Hi everyone. 54 year old guy here with a very dad bod. Used to be slim and muscular but middle age hit and now have a definite paunch. I look crap, feel heavy and tired and my cholesterol is too high. Cue lots of comfort eating, wine every day and a fair bit of self loathing.

Current BMI is 31 and just ordered a first pen from med express.

If I can start to feel good and not having a hurricane of obsessive hungry thoughts I can get and keep fit and healthy. So here is hoping. I owe it to myself, but also by wife and kids.

Wishing all of you success, health and happiness. Tks for the support. This site really helps. x

markyb123 · 30/06/2025 12:17

ps. I used to be slim and I really miss being able to wear underwear (boxers) comfortably. I spent the first 2/3 of my life taking for granted feeling comfortable and able to wear anything without thought. God I miss that.

Hello. Joining this group as I did my first jab on 20th and feel the June chat is a little ahead for me.

Starting weight 12 st 5 lb, goal weight 9st 7lb.

I am two jabs in, only side effects seem to be mild headache and tiredness. Although that could also be down to the weather. I’m weighing only on jab days, but have already lost 11lb!

I tend to eat healthily and lost a lot of weight on Zoe, but put it back on when I stopped monitoring what I ate. I have trouble with portion size and food noise - both of which have really calmed down. I think the combination of the jabs and the Zoe diet are the way forward for me.

also - my concentration and focus at work seems to have improved. But that could be down to the food noise being silenced.

lovely to meet you all.

MyAzureMoose · 30/06/2025 12:56

Hi, joining because I've finally had my video consultation (after a 3 week wait) and been approved for my first pen. Current BMI is 28 but I have high blood pressure so was approved with a lower threshold for that reason. Am excited to start but also a bit apprehensive - from what I've read it seems like it affects everybody so differently so hoping it suits me. I'm expecting my pen to arrive Weds, but might wait until Sat/Sun to inject, so that I have lower supression Fri/Sat and can still enjoy the occasional weekend treat. Good luck everyone!

I'm also combining the jabs with Zoe. I can usually stick to Zoe in the week and go a bit off piste at weekends.

I reckon we will all be getting new clothes for Christmas 😄

Sparklysunshine · 30/06/2025 13:28

Hi everyone . I did my first Jab on Saturday . I was so so shocked when I realised I weighed 14 stone that it spurred me into action! I have a headache today but I think it’s the very hot weather !

WhereIsSpot · 30/06/2025 13:45

Same on the clothes markyb. Very little in the wardrobe fits nicely or at all if I'm honest. I used to be very fit and in good shape and never had to worry about what fit or hid the bulges.

Are people planning on calorie counting while doing this or sticking to more intuitive eating? There are so many threads and people doing all sorts of different things.

LakeFlyPie · 30/06/2025 14:31

Hi all, have been lurking for a few days since my 1st jab on Saturday evening but am compelled to join, to marvel at my usually gluttonous appetite seeming to have been switched off! I thought it might have been placebo yesterday, but today I’ve had to force down some fruit and yogurt (I am drinking plenty of water). I’m amazed at the instant appetite suppression.

SW 85kg
TW 65kg

I have woken a bit queasy both mornings, we do usually eat quite late so may need to try and have main meal at lunch and a lighter evening snack - it felt like my stomach was full of food this morning (I only had a small Greek salad at about 8pm).
I don’t eat meat (do have some fish) so need to be careful to get enough protein in and I always aim for 30g of fibre, which will be more challenging if this complete lack of appetite continues. It’s such a novelty eating because I need to get the nutrients in. I do eat quite healthily but am obese due to evening snacking and too large portion size.
It’s great to have this thread to compare notes and experiences.

I hope so! Although I have kept all my jeans from size 10 to 18, so I won't need new ones. I was considering donating them recently due to diets not going well. I'll have to treat myself to a few new dresses when I get to my goal weight!

I'm being more mindful of what I eat, and if that doesn't work then I'll calorie count. I'd rather not stress over calories if I don't have to, and then I can continue what I'm doing when I stop taking mounjaro.

Thanks whereisspot. I'm not gonna go near the calorie rabbit hole as I went there with noom and it was too obsessive for me. My fab wife is on slimming world and she cooks healthy balanced meals every day so I will just stick with those.

Of course, anyone else's choice re counting is theirs.

Just received the dispatch notification that my first pen is in the post. I can't wait to get stuck in (literally) :)

ByLemonFish · 30/06/2025 17:26

I've started calorie counting today.
Just eaten a roast pork dinner and really enjoyed it but today I've only had 691 kcal. I'm worried this isn't enough
Had banana and kiwi for breakfast (not always breakfast eater)
Egg/toast for lunch
Lots of water

AirborneElephant · 30/06/2025 17:52

Hi Lemonfish,

If you really have only eaten 691 calories then no, I wouldn’t say that is sustainable over the long term while getting enough protein and nutrients. 800 calories is considered a very low calorie diet. If the roast pork dinner was small enough to be less than 300 calories then that’s absolutely tiny, 100g of pork alone is 250 calories and that’s a very small portion, before you get to any veg / gravy/ potato.

ByLemonFish · 30/06/2025 17:58

Roast pork dinner was 390 but total for day is only 691

juniebug · 30/06/2025 19:01

Can I join? Waiting anxiously for pen to arrive in post and hoping to be a first week of July starter. Then am told I have to go into GP’s surgery to get nurse to show me how to inject. I wonder if this is really necessary as I am not near the GP at all. Anyway, good luck to all! Really hoping for few gastro symptomatic as I have a weak stomach.

Hi, you need to be BMI 30 or over or BMI 27 with health conditions. Just check out the price comparison site Monj.co.uk. and provide the details they need.

Good luck, hope it works for you :)
