Mounjaro July 2025 Starters

daisydreamies · 27/06/2025 14:17

Please let me know if there's already a thread for this! I did have a look and couldn't find anything.

I've just been approved for Mounjaro from Asda. I've been trying to lose weight for seven years. I've tried calorie counting, intermittent fasting, Slimfast, Weight Watchers (it didn't work for me, I was so hungry all the time and ended up overeating so I never lost), and Slimming World (I enjoyed it, but the weight loss for me was too slow so I ended up stopping as it's so expensive). The most successful diet I've been on was when I was breastfeeding my son, but the weight came back on when I stopped. I'm still lighter than I was pre-pregnancy, but this weight is not shifting or if it does it's so slow and I lose the motivation. I tried most for about 4-6 months (except WW, I gave that up after 2).

I can't exercise as I have a chronic illness, so I'm often in pain from just existing and exercise just cripples me. I think I have PCOS too, which might be why I'm struggling so much to shift the weight with diet alone.

My goal is to lose weight with Mounjaro hopefully, and then follow a Slimming World style diet after (which I still kind of follow now, just not as strict). I've managed to maintain my current weight for a year so I'm pretty confident I can maintain. I've also never tried to lose weight with other people, so I'm hoping this also helps.

Can I join please?

Had my first jab this morning. Had protein shake just before. Been pushing myself to drink lots of water.

SW 12st 7lbs
GW 10 st

My BMI is 31. I lost 2.5 stone 10 years ago but I didn't have any health issues then, wasn't on HRT and was very active working full time in childcare

So hoping this is going to work
Good luck everyone

Wiggles33 · 29/06/2025 17:39

Great to see people joining 😊 always good to have that support! I’m going to have my first jab tonight once the kids are in bed…the nerves are definitely kicking in 🙈

AirborneElephant · 29/06/2025 18:16

Good luck wiggles. The actual jab is very easy, I’m sure you will be fine and here’s hoping for minimal side effects for you

Can I join? I’ve been considering this for a while and have just seen photos of myself that have convinced me to go for it.

This is what got me to consider doing it now rather than later. I was at a work do with my husband and there was a photo booth. I’ve barely looked at the pictures because I look so chunky. I’m hoping that one day I can look back and see how far I’ve come!

having a headache is my only bad symptom so far, managing it with painkillers and lots of water. I still have food noise, but it’s not as intense and I’m not hungry. I had a sandwich, quavers, miniroll and a babybel for lunch (first meal of the day) and I’m still not hungry. I wasn’t really hungry then, but thought I should probably eat. I am shocked at how quick the hunger suppression has kicked in and how much it has. I was expecting to be hungry, but get full quickly.

That has happened quickly! Bet it feels hard to know sometimes when to eat and when not to, if you just don’t feel hungry. Not that I’m be complaining! Haha
Glad the headache is manageable. Hopefully itll
pass soon 🫶🏻

Wasn’t expecting to feel anything after my first dose yesterday but haven’t felt a pang of hunger today. Just a bit of nausea on and off, have eaten well, thinking about getting protein and lots of water. Trying not to change too much and just see how it goes, like someone else said if I don’t see changes I’ll look at tracking properly. Work tomorrow so really hoping i don’t get any tummy troubles!

JimmyGrimble · 29/06/2025 20:00

Yes the lack of appetite has shocked me too but I’m going with it. Have managed a protein bagel with roast beef and a handful of nuts so far today. We’re having some couscous with lots of veggies for tea. Still not had any side effects but I am weeing like a horse from all the water!

Wiggles33 · 29/06/2025 20:37

Argh! Was waiting until my kids had gone to sleep before I took the jab- this is usually 8pm at the latest. My boy is still up and complaining of not being tired, meaning I’ve still not eaten dinner and am starving 🙈 worried about taking it on a full stomach now though? I’ve googled and can’t find any reported issues with that but what do we think??

It's fine to take it with a full stomach, I'm pretty sure anyway (please correct if I'm wrong). I'd recently eaten when I took mine last night

I think full stomach is fine, I read somewhere to try full and empty if having side effects. Weeing like a horse here too 😂

I'm glad I'm not weeing like a horse, it's really hot where I live right now so I think I'm mainly sweating all the liquid I'm taking in. I'm also on bladder tablets so they make me not pee so much too

@daisydreamies oh I am too, overactive bladder after having babies.

He’s stilllllll awake! He’snever been awake this late. This is just Sod’s Law isn’t it 🙈 hoping it’s not a sign! Haha

WhereIsSpot · 29/06/2025 22:16

Hi All. Great to see a thread for new starters. I have my kit all ready and will be taking my first injection tomorrow night. Excited to get going but a bit nervous too. Mid 40s and perimenopausal, I cannot shift weight and am just getting heavier and heavier.

Went to bed at 9pm slept till 7am, feel very tired and light headed but OK otherwise. Thankfully I'm retired so can have an easy day
Hope everyone else has a good day

CarbyB · 30/06/2025 07:51

Today I woke up feeling so full up I was worried that I’d ate during the night — I didn’t. I just feel full to the brim. I ate in a deficit of 500 calories yesterday too.

Emas82 · 30/06/2025 07:53

So W1D6 I've just felt my first tiny rumble of hunger!! Up until now I've felt nothing!!

Thischarmlessgirl · 30/06/2025 08:05

I woke up feeling a bit sick, but nothing terrible, not hungry at all but had a protein yoghurt and two glasses of water. Feel a bit tired but that could also be the heat I guess

Elvish · 30/06/2025 08:37

Hi, hope you don't mind me joining. Had my first injection yesterday morning, didn't feel any different all day yesterday. Feeling a little queasy this morning, but not really hungry. I'm thinking I'll wait until lunch and try to eat a healthy meal then.

SW 87kg
TW - no idea! Let's see where it goes.

Namechang36368 · 30/06/2025 08:41

Following with interest as I hope to join you all soon. How many pens do you order in one go, or is it a monthly subscription?

AirborneElephant · 30/06/2025 08:45

Hi Namechange. I think most people order one at a time, not least because they are over £100 each. Plus they either need to be kept refrigerated at a stable temperature or used within 30 days, so not really something you can stockpile. I’m not sure if it’s possible to order multiples as I haven’t tried.

Elvish · 30/06/2025 08:47

I think everywhere is the same, your prescription will be 1 pen which has 4 weekly injections in it. Then you'll have another consultation with the doctor for a second prescription, might be stronger depending on how you're reacting.

AirborneElephant · 30/06/2025 08:47

That has just reminded me fellow July-ers! The 30 days requires a max temperature of 30 degrees. So if it’s going to be above that for you this week and you don’t have air-con you might want to pop the pens in the fridge!

Wiggles33 · 30/06/2025 09:29

Took my first one last night- eventually!
Was up at 6 with the kids, no ounce of hunger yet…not even a desire to nibble their toast like usual. Whether it’s the drug or placebo effect who knows, but I guess it ultimately doesn’t matter haha
I have however got a funny feeling in my stomach…wouldn’t say it’s nausea but definitely feeling a bit off. Also ‘been to the loo’ 3x times already this morning, which is unusual 🙈
