Thank you for allowing me to rant, share our ups and downs. Our group blows my mind of how we are so supportive of each other.
Some of us are now hitting the 12 week mark, some of us are nearly at their goal, some halfway and some still have a way to go, but we are all losing even if it’s half a pound a week. We have all come so far and are making a difference to our health.

I've been reading but not posting. Congrats on all the losses.

I've been on MJ 18 weeks and lost 18lbs - so relatively slowly. Health wise I was happy with this - I'm 58 too and did not want muscle loss. Even though the cost is 😱
I started with a BMI of 27.3 and it's now 25. Good news is my cholesterol is down to 5! I've never had this - despite statins and regular exercise, it's been 7 & 8+. I wondered if my thyroid was underactive as I felt cold and tired. But no perfect. So my GP has given me a script for 2.5 - I'm in Ireland. She hadn't any advice on maintenance so I'll be looking to MN for medical advice. 🤔
I have 2 more doses of 5mg and I hope that these being me to a 20lb loss and a BMI of 24.3.
I feel slightly a fraud - my (new) GP said sternly - this is a drug to treat obesity. With a BMI of 25 and normal cholestrol, I think she was relieved to prescribe 2.5 , and had an air of 'on your own head be it' while mentioning that the cautions are changing.
I'm comfortable with that. My bloods are great. I've lost 18lbs of (hopefully) fat. Vanity aside, being in a healthy BMI improves my health.

For those with a long way to go- you will likely already have improved your health by your current loss. Enjoy all the scale and NSV on the way.

Btw, if this is the 'easy way out' for weight loss, I'm delighted it's here now. I'm glad there is a drug that will allow us to lose fat and enjoy our bodies. I never heard those kind of objections to statins or Blood Pressure meds. (There were objections to pain relief during labour, which some considered should be painful).

Morning everyone
My weightloss has once again stalled
I had a rough couple of days with constant sickness on 7.5 but thankfully it seems to have passed
Does anyone have any advice for when you've just stalled? I'm eating around 1,300 calories some times less. Which is within my deficit
Plenty of protein
Plenty of excersize
I definitely don't want to go up to 10 just yet, I don't feel mentally ready for that

Ingangoolie · 12/07/2025 10:45

@soupforbrains perfect
@JudgingJudy looking likely MJ will become a well used and loved health promotion and preventative medicine, it’s doing great stuff across the whole body and mind and will save the NHS billions

Week 19 weigh in yesterday did not post as was too busy!

Well my stall is over I certainly did not get the woosh I was hoping for but at this point I am glad to have lost anything as I was bouncing around the same 5lbs for 5 weeks I think!

I weighed in yesterday at 10st exactly which is 2lbs loss this week, thank you MJ gods.

For all those on a stall I really do not think it’s anything we are doing wrong it’s just our bodies hanging on for dear life and getting used to its new normal. I upped my protein, upped my water intake, ate less calories, ate more calories, exercised to the point of exhaustion and nothing. This week I did what I did it the first few months ate when I needed to and what I fancied and it come off this week.

I am worried about getting the last stone off as my goal of 9 stone and a total of 60lbs off, I think it’s going to be a hard slog and will take me months!

@RuthEvershedforPM go for Botox honestly it is revolutionary for our faces I have been having it since I was 28 as a preventative measure for wrinkles and I have had filler all over my face and do not think I am looking too bad for my age and you can not tell. My tip would be search around and have consultations with a few practitioners and use someone medically qualified ask to see their before and after photos, if you are in the SE I can recommend mine, also ask for natural you do not want the wind tunnel look! Also get some facials before you have any tweakments as plump skin is great for Botox and filler.

@soupforbrains have a great holiday.

@TheBossOfMe i hope things get a little easier for you.

As the person that does all my treatments says you would not paint a wall without making sure it was in the best condition and primed!

Gorgeous, @soupforbrains Hope you're having a wonderful time! And 3 stone is a fantastic milestone, well done.

I'm 6.75lbs off that myself. Soon, soon! I'm at 14st 10.75 after my little Devon break. I'm pleased not to have gained as breakfasts at the BnB were hearty, to say the least. But lots of good protein, and they filled me up until dinner basically. Also lots of hilly walking and a a bit of sea and lido swimming.

Sorry things are stll so tough @TheBossOfMe and glad things are moving downwards again, @TheSpoonyNavyReader

GameOfJones · 12/07/2025 12:05

Which cruise line are you on @soupforbrains? You've made me very jealous we've got a month to go but then will also be on a cruise which is my ultimate happy place being out at sea!

Justformounjaro · 12/07/2025 13:06

Chilldrill · 11/07/2025 20:08

@Justformounjaro im 58 too, and the thrill of losing has definitely had the edge took off it,with this weird skin, I'm in the caravan and it's a billion degrees so I'm in shorts and a vest, the full length mirror view every time I get up, as the mirror is on the back of the door is 🤢. @Ingangoolie jealous of your leg status lol, mine look like drapey curtains are hanging off them, and it's the texture, it's weird, I think swimming might have to be reinstated as an exercise, at least in the pool you can't see it. 😂

Last night I was looking at my little book of weights and measurements that I’ve been keeping since I was a teenager and doing a comparison. I’ve not measured my biceps every time I’ve dieted but when I was dieting and hit this weight on the way down in 2013 they were 1.5 inches bigger than they are now so that skin’s got to go somewhere 🥴 I also worked out I’ve lost nearly 14% of my starting weight 🙌

I think my fat arms and legs were partly attributable to swimming team as a child and young teenager. I was very muscular from it and the muscles all just turned to fat when I stopped. Now I’m wondering if taking up swimming again or taking an Aquafit class might help to tone me up more quickly.

I’m living in shorts and a vest top too right now. I just avoid looking in the mirror too closely 😀

Outsidebeanshop · 12/07/2025 13:41

Great tips @TheSpoonyNavyReader im a big fan of Botox but like other have said wouldn’t haven’t thought about facials / priming beforehand. You don’t have to tell me twice to book in for a facial! 😆 glad that you’re seeing the weight come off again.

this morning I have lost 2lbs, so I’m now the lightest I have been in over 8 years and it has given me a real boost. Sadly it is becoming clear to me that the wine (if I’m honest it’s 1/2 a bottle most nights) is defo the staller - I have refrained the last few days and that’s all I have changed

JudgingJudy · 12/07/2025 13:57

@2025mj I think stalls are normal. We are caveman physiology - our bodies cling to fat as if the famine was coming at 3pm.
Think of fat as long term storage, and it takes a while to shift. Be patient, it will move

Aboutmeabouttime · 12/07/2025 15:29

Not weighed yet this weekend… bit afraid to but seemed rude not to enjoy the sunshine 😆🍹
May wait until Monday at this point! Happy weekend all!

I’m a secret jabber too and literally nobody knows, not even my husband

ilovegreenbeans · 13/07/2025 16:36

Me too, secret jabber. Told 2 work friends v early on and they had incredibly closed responses and haven't mentioned it since. One has a history of ED so I get that it's not something she wants to know about, but the other is a dear lady who is v overweight and has lots of health issues due to it but I don't think she wants to even consider it. That's OK, it's such a personal journey.
I keep planning to mention it to my husband, we have a teen DD with an eating disorder and we don't talk about weight at all in the house, so there's never been the right time! I've actually really enjoyed the lack of comments on my body, good or bad. I've realised that i much prefer that noone should comment on my body besides to maybe say "hey you look nice today!" I've found lots of freedom in that actually.

tryingtobesogood · 13/07/2025 22:13

I’m now longer in the ‘red’ zone for my BMI ❤️

Morning all. Weigh day here and I managed to spend a night in my own home last night so have scales. I was worried because I haven't been able to weigh daily, and the hot weather has meant food was geared towards things like bbqs which were often a danger zone for me. Plus lots of ice cream and rose. Amazingly enough, the scales have not just held steady but have dropped a bit and I'm sitting at the -2lb mark below goal. If anything I might need to add more calories back in this week than I thought, I don't really want to lose more.

@soupforbrains So jealous of your holiday, looks lovely!
