Thank you for allowing me to rant, share our ups and downs. Our group blows my mind of how we are so supportive of each other.
Some of us are now hitting the 12 week mark, some of us are nearly at their goal, some halfway and some still have a way to go, but we are all losing even if it’s half a pound a week. We have all come so far and are making a difference to our health.

@RuthEvershedforPM in 38 and definitely not too late I was talking about age to the lady who did mine and she said she had ladies in their 60s and 70s coming for first time appointments. Said some treatments are likely to work better with fillers or fillers and Botox but that Botox works for a lot

Paulahoust · 10/07/2025 05:01

RuthEvershedforPM · 09/07/2025 20:51

Exciting on the Botox @Puddingpiper - I am interested but wondering if too late … am 45 … and feels like there is a new crevice every day 😂

I'm 46 and get botox @RuthEvershedforPM go for it xx

So… I was dying my hair last night and so was stood bent over the bath to rinse out the dye. It’s not a position I commonly spend much time in but confronted with my own thighs as essentially my only view I think I’m already seeing the start of loose skin 😢 my thighs are a significant problem area for me and are one of two areas where I think I’ve lost the most size from (alongside back/under boob chest/torso). And they, along with my belly are the area I have always been most concerned about the potential of loose skin. But I’m less than half way through my weight journey. So I’m a little surprised to be seeing it so soon maybe.

although when I looked in the mirror stood up straight it looked ok and lying on my back in bed now it also looks fine so perhaps it was just the awkward pose.

I leave home later today to fly out on holiday tomorrow morning. Not sure if I've mentioned my holiday 😉 but we’ll be on a cruise for a week, doing a bit of Greek island hopping. And then we’ll be in Corfu for a further week. Should be lovely. I’ve packed about a dozen books and I can’t wait. And yes, ive also packed my scales as I said I would.

Is sunshine good for the skin in terms of healing and ‘shrinkage’ in the same way that it’s good for other things like scars and stuff? Or have I imagined that?

Ingangoolie · 10/07/2025 08:31

@soupforbrains I think you might have mentioned it, have a great holiday, sun will help most things, swimming and getting the body hot has gotta help too

TheBossOfMe · 10/07/2025 08:58

Morning all.

@soupforbrains So jealous of your holiday, and I'd be packing the scales as well! Sounds like it'll be an amazing break. No idea about skin elasticity and sun, but sunshine is good for the soul no matter what.

I'm exactly 4 weeks past hitting goal weight, and the scales are holding steady. It's jab day today (will do it tonight), and I was ravenous at times this week now that I'm titrating down (only did 5mg last week in a single dose), but the hunger was manageable, I haven't comfort eaten in spite of loads of stress, and maintenance is going ok so far. Fingers crossed.

soupforbrains · 10/07/2025 09:28

An interesting this happened to me this morning. I’m sure you have, like me heard the facts about how 65% of the time when you think you’re hungry you’re actually thirsty etc. I’ve known about that for years.

BUT, this morning while I was walking the dog I felt a feeling/sensation in my belly and I immediately thought ‘gosh I’m thirsty this morning, I obviously didn’t have enough to drink yesterday’. It took a few more minutes for me to realise that the sensation/feeling I was feeling is one that up until now I have ALWAYS, both consciously and subconsciously, processed as ‘hunger’. But MJ has literally helped me re-wire/reprogram my brain!

we all know that MJ isnt the fat melting, instant skinny, ‘cheat’ that some in the media woukd like you to think. But it IS a damn miracle drug.

Chilldrill · 10/07/2025 15:00

@soupforbrains ,I am definitely saggy ☹️, despite chugging collagen by the gallon, however I still feel better more than 2.5 stone down, than I did at the beginning. Enjoy your holiday, wear all the bikinis you'll look fab! In other news, I'm on holiday, not so exotic skeg Vegas though😂, it is boiling though, 30 deg, so I'm shutting my eyes and pretending I'm with soup lol, I haven't brought my pen cos hub doesn't know I'm on it, and it's jab day today, don't know whether it's psychological, cos I wouldn't be doing it till tonight but I'm foooking starving and can't jab till Sunday, my stomach is growling and I want to eat all the food, just like pre mj, it's a horrible feeling.

RuthEvershedforPM · 10/07/2025 18:57

Top work @TheBossOfMe - keeping it off is properly inspiring- appreciate you sticking around and telling us how it’s going!

RuthEvershedforPM · 10/07/2025 18:58

Happy holidays @soupforbrains and @Chilldrill

FrozenFractal · 10/07/2025 18:58

I’ve had my first ‘you’ve lost weight’ today! Took two stone and felt good 😊

LilyLondon · 10/07/2025 21:21

Wohoo @FrozenFractal congratulations! This must feel so nice 😊

GameOfJones · 11/07/2025 07:39

@FrozenFractal it's nice isn't it? I had two people mention my weight loss yesterday. I think sometimes people are a bit hesitant to comment on weight but I have to say I have loved it whenever someone has asked me! 🤣

@soupforbrains I'm starting to look a bit saggy in places. I think it's inevitable really, I have been very obese for years. I still feel loads better now even if I've got some loose skin. I think I'm going to need to concentrate on toning and building muscle going forwards but my goodness exercise is so much easier now I'm not carrying around 3.5 stones of extra weight. I've spoken with DH and we are going to convert part of the garage into a home gym, but that's a project for after the summer as we need to save some money first.

I was so hot yesterday I didn't want to eat, I just could not be bothered and ended up having some cream cheese and poppy seeds on toast and some lentil chips. That was the only thing I ate yesterday and I feel absolutely rubbish today. I definitely need more fruit and vegetables in my life so whatever today holds in terms of food there will be more volume and more fresh stuff.

Yetanotherusername2000 · 11/07/2025 10:45

I’m just about to start maintenance with Oushk - got first delivery on Wednesday.
I’m currently 5mg, and have one more 5 pen before stepping down to 2.5. I’m wondering if I should go 3.75 first tho..any thoughts?

I think I also had the mythical whoosh this week after being on a plateau for a bit - I was constantly needing a wee for several days and then lost a few lbs!!

SW 12st 10
CW 9st 5
TW 9st 2

I am starting to feel like me again - after years of child weight and then a long covid battle. I really want to stay me!

SharpOpalNewt · 11/07/2025 11:05

That's how I feel @Yetanotherusername2000 Like 20 years have been lifted off me, aged 49. I feel how I did before I had DD1 (who is nearly 20) even though I'm not as light as I was then. Probably helps that my periods stopped as well in December/January. I don't want them back!

SharpOpalNewt · 11/07/2025 11:07

FrozenFractal · 10/07/2025 18:58

I’ve had my first ‘you’ve lost weight’ today! Took two stone and felt good 😊

Great! I've lost 25 pounds and the only person who has commented is my neighbour. I had a close family illness then bereavement though too so people probably think it's stress and don't want to say.

Justformounjaro · 11/07/2025 11:26

@soupforbrains I am definitely seeing a lot of saggy skin - not on my stomach so far but my arms look terrible and that’s in spite of doing some dumbbell exercises every day. I’m either not doing enough, or the wrong ones, and my skin just isn’t bouncing back like it has in the past 😭

I’ve really tried to keep my diet as nutritious as possible so I’m getting enough protein and have a collagen supplement daily now. I’ve also started using Nivea firming body lotion but I don’t think it’s made a jot of difference and I’m now being bombarded with adverts for body oils.

I know some of it is basic genetics about whether it will improve over time but some people of my age have managed it without resorting to surgery.

If anyone has the secret, or even positive stories of it taking a couple of years to catch up with the weight loss, please share 🙏

soupforbrains · 11/07/2025 12:08

@Justformounjaroyeah I’m hoping isnt will get better over time. It’s not particularly reasonable for me to expect it to spring back into shape instantly. I too am taking supplements and using a collagen cream all over to try to support as much as possible. Fingers crossed it just needs more time.

a couple of NSVs for me today. I not only didn’t need a seatbelt extender (haven’t always needed one but it varies from airline to airline) but I also didn’t find that the armrests were pinching/digging into my hips/thighs. So was far more comfortable on a (non business/first class) flight than I’ve been in a long time!

Justformounjaro · 11/07/2025 14:34

Enjoy the holiday and the sunshine ☀️🕶️

Chilldrill · 11/07/2025 15:14

@Justformounjaro I've lost about the same amount of weight before, in a similar time frame, but I've never seen sagginess like this, my arms are disgusting the texture is weird. It was 13 years ago when my dad died, but I wasn't exactly young then mid forties, and peri menopausal so it can't just be age can it?
The mounjaro seems to have deflated me, lol. @soupforbrains 👏bet you felt great on that flight, enjoy your holiday

Fatmumslim01 · 11/07/2025 15:41

Wow @Yetanotherusername2000 that's a great weight loss and great news about maintenance. Did you go to 3.75 on the way up?

End of week 15 (?) for me and it's another week of staying the same that's 2 weeks in a row now. I've been very hungry this week and I felt at times my portions were creeping into pre MJ size portions. I was debating jabbing a day or 2 early but held out to today my usual jab day.

I've got 3 more doses left of this 5mg pen and I've ordered a 7.5 for the next one although may do approx 6mg as a step up for a few weeks as I worked out the day I'm meant to start 7.5 is a day i go on holiday so may do 6mg for the holiday.

Here's my numbers

Started 21 march
Height 5 foot

SW 14-7
CW 12-12
GW 11-7 as mini goal

I’ve noticed a weird crinkling just above my inner elbow (the bottom of my bicep??) that has definite “old lady” vibes. I am 58. I am getting to be that old lady 😳😭

And I’ve also noticed a bit of a fold just below my bum. This is not what i signed up for!

Ingangoolie · 11/07/2025 18:48

@Chilldrill @Justformounjaro me too. A balloon deflating slowly after being big and bouncy. Crepey bits in places and a weird doughy midriff. My legs are decent though and I am a bit weirdly enjoying cradling my smooth and shrinking little belly apron.

Chilldrill · 11/07/2025 20:08

@Justformounjaro im 58 too, and the thrill of losing has definitely had the edge took off it,with this weird skin, I'm in the caravan and it's a billion degrees so I'm in shorts and a vest, the full length mirror view every time I get up, as the mirror is on the back of the door is 🤢. @Ingangoolie jealous of your leg status lol, mine look like drapey curtains are hanging off them, and it's the texture, it's weird, I think swimming might have to be reinstated as an exercise, at least in the pool you can't see it. 😂

Ingangoolie · 11/07/2025 20:15

@Chilldrill ah no, I couldn’t cope with mirror trauma all day, towel over it or Vaseline I reckon. And yes swimming is my happy place, good plan

Fatmumslim01 · 11/07/2025 20:23

NSV here tonight...DH is out for dinner and drinks with friends, and normally when he's out me and the DC get a takeaway (any excuse pre MJ for a takeaway tbh) but I just didn't fancy it so I made the kids hotdogs and I had a tuna jacket with a Mumsnet massive salad 😉 leaves, onion, cucumber, olives, feta. Was absolutely lovely and I felt far better than I would have done with a takeaway and also saves money.

But seriously who even am I on MJ 😂

However we are probably going to get a takeaway next weekend for start of summer hols and I'm looking forward to it!
