Thank you for allowing me to rant, share our ups and downs. Our group blows my mind of how we are so supportive of each other.
Some of us are now hitting the 12 week mark, some of us are nearly at their goal, some halfway and some still have a way to go, but we are all losing even if it’s half a pound a week. We have all come so far and are making a difference to our health.

😲 There's a healthy option with wine? Do spill, I'd love to know what it is. 😁

My weight loss injection journey continues, losing gradually.

Another half stone & I'm there, I think. Lord knows what will happen when the jabs stop... Everyone on them that I know on them balloons again eventually. 🫤

Noooo I mean the healthy snack option, isn't an option, if I've had wine....

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 04/07/2025 12:38

@Aboutmeabouttime I looked again and loads more appointments had appeared so I have one booked for weds which is when my pen should arrive 🤞 even then I'll be 2 days late jabbing which will be interesting.

@GameOfJones struggling with the cost here too, what with my ££££ solicitors bills for my divorce . Id also initially thought 3 months to kick start myself, but I think I'll aim for 6. I'm 2.5 st down but realistically need to lose another 3.

TheBossOfMe · 04/07/2025 13:03

Great to hear about both whooshes and plods. Both equally valid.

Difficult week here, still looking after teenagers and the funeral for their father was this week. So not really bad that much time to plan meals properly, focus has been elsewhere. So unsurprisingly I’ve gained since Monday, am 0.4lb above goal and almost definitely will gain more over the weekend. But it’s still within my 2lb limit so hopefully a less insane week next week will see me reverse that. I forgot to jab yesterday because it was so busy, and OMG I was so hungry this morning.

Is anybody concerned about the pancreatis stuff all in the news? I never look at the news and deleted all my news apps in covid and never looked back but I often hear about things via social media (I should probably prioritise deleting those apps!!!) and just looked out of curiosity. I have bad health anxiety so I was in turmoil about taking MJ in the first place, but all acknowledged that my weight was one thing causing me health anxiety so on balance I went for it

I actually got more reassured when it come on news the other day . 1.5 million people are estimated using MJ at the moment in UK , considering the low amount of people getting pancreatis the chance is actually lower than I thought . Also there is no evidence why some have gotten it , hence why they are now going to research more of who has gotten it so that guidelines to those more at risk can be advised.

if you Google it most often it’s caused by very rapid loss by people on lower BMI.

I went up to 10mg and got a bit nervous but other then food aversion and feeling very cold I have less SE on this dose than I had with any other when moved up. As risks increases the longer you on it I have said that I will stop at 12 months max , including maintainance. I’m just under half way to goal.

PoundsLost · 04/07/2025 13:25

My view on the health “news” (which is entirely uninformed) is that pancreatitis has 2 main causes usually.

one is too much alcohol - luckily MJ seems to help some people cutting back booze.

The other main cause is gallstones and gallstones can be caused by rapid weight loss. So if you do lose rapidly (not a problem I have 🙄) then you may develop gallstones as a result and thus the pancreatitis.

It would be interesting to see what the causes are specifically and if the fact that MJ has reduced lots of people’s desire for alcohol, means that the causes of pancreatitis are more one than the other.

if that makes sense. All the problems sites like the DM claim are caused by MJ are all problems you get with rapid weight loss irrespective of HOW you lose that weight. Hair loss, muscle loss etc.

Hello Everyone
Im getting quite close to goal now and the last bit of weight is coming off sooooooo slowly. Im lucky if i lose one 1lb a week at the moment...feel as if im plodding like @soupforbrains mentioned in a pp. Anyways I recalculated my TDEE and it says to lose weight I need to consume around 1000 calories!!! I've lost almost 2 stone so far since March eating 1200/1300 but as my weight has decreased, so has my daily calorie requirement. Im really struggling and feeling a bit "meh". I work full time and have 2 kids so find it hard to exercise other than walking so thats not really an option. 1000 cals is hard to stick to (even on mj) as suppression isn't always fantastic. I get some great days and some days when im starving (im split dosing due to previous nasty SE)
Has anyone else had to reduce calories as they've got closer to goal? Or did you stick to same calories/diet if not counting? Im really hoping for a whoosh soon but unfortunately i dont think im going to get one!

LilyLondon · 04/07/2025 13:47

@Outsidebeanshop the thing about social media apps is that once you click on a certain article, it’s going to aggressively suggest you more of the same. So you end up feeling it’s “all around you” while in reality, it’s not necessarily more prevalent but you’re just seeing the articles more.

@Bipaloss interesting, I actually read something slightly different when looking - that pancreatitis is most likely in patients with undiagnosed diabetes (which makes their pancreas already struggling for a long time to battle high blood sugar levels), and especially if they titrate up too quickly (higher doses -> pancreas is more stimulated to produce insulin -> pancreas crashes & burns). Which to me sort of reads - if you’ve had some blood and glucose tests in the recent years and they’ve been fine, the chances are minuscule.

Another bit is that there is no proven correlation - yes, the chances are greater amongst WLI users than the general population, but WLI users are a group with metabolic problems, otherwise they’d not be taking the drug! So it’s not that surprising the incidence is higher.

That being said, I’ve been the most worried about gastroparesis this whole time, so if someone has a “calm down” line for that… 🙈

Justformounjaro · 04/07/2025 15:12

The Monj website has a page trying to quantify the risks. https://monj.co.uk/pancreatitis-mounjaro-facts-about-and-real-information/

@LilyLondon Afraid I can’t give any informed sources about Gastroparesis however suffering from long term constipation issues, it’s a worry of mine too. After being on Mounjaro for about 6 weeks, I developed a dull ache in my side that was thought to be bowel inflammation (other things had been ruled out through blood tests). I started tracking my fibre intake as a result, realised that I was consuming way too little, so increased it to recommended levels. The ache seems to have eased off now so I’d suggest keep on top of your fibre intake and drink plenty of water.

Psyllium husks and chia seeds mixed with Greek yoghurt, washed down with a pint of collagen powder in squash, and followed by a kiwi or satsuma have been added to my list of weird food combinations I eat to get my protein and fibre intake up easily. DP, who was diagnosed with pre diabetes at the same time, is tiring of my evangelical thoughts on nutrition. He’s away for a few days and doesn’t appreciate my commentary on his choice of pain au chocolate for breakfast, greasy burger for lunch, and pizza for dinner but I’d prefer he didn’t keel over any time soon.

Lost 24lb

Slow and steady but moving down. I had a break for my holiday and I’m back on it now. I’m looking forward to seeing a 14 instead of a 15 hopefully by the end of July

sigh weigh in day for me.

loss this week: 1lb

i am really really grateful that I’m seeing continuous losses and not stalling etc. but I am starting to feel a bit… ‘meh’ about just losing 1lb a week. I am pre-menstrual so maybe I’ll get a little whoosh after my period but still.

this will be my last weigh in day before I go on holiday. As mentioned before I will maintain my dose level and weigh throughout my holiday. But I may not have WiFi to update here.

I know a lot of people take a break from MJ when on holiday in order to be able to ‘enjoy the food’ but personally I don’t find that MJ stops me enjoying food. I still eat anything I fancy just (much) smaller amounts but I still feel satisfied by the door I’m eating. In fact, I find that I eat more mindfully while on MJ so often savour and enjoy food more.

I also know that taking my scales and weighing throughout probably seems mad too. But I don’t think weighing will in any way spoil my holiday. I just don’t want any nasty surprises when I get home. I don’t want my lovely post holiday high to get slammed into the dirt when I step on the scale and see a (possibly) significant gain.

unlike many of you who have lost 2-3stone and are nearly at goal, I have lost just under 3 stone and have almost double that to lose again. This is a really long damn process for me, and so I need progress to be continuous. Any gains week on week just make the mountain I have to climb feel endlessly bigger.

GiveMeWordGames · 05/07/2025 09:02

@soupforbrains I know exactly what you mean. As much as I know this is a long process and slow and steady is good, this week has pissed me off because I've just bumped around at 14st 12-13. I've walked loads commuting and around London but was also stuck with corporate lunch catering on Thursday and Friday so bread intake went up and protein was lower than usual.

I'm jabbing today (a day early, due to mini break next week) and I'm basically where I was last week give or take 1/2 a pound. I've lost over 2 stone, and I should be happy with that, but I've got another 2-3 to go. Monday is my official weigh day and also my next appointment at the pharmacy. I'm thinking I might need to go up to 7.5.

museumum · 05/07/2025 09:18

That’s me around half way. Finding it hard to believe I have lost 10kg as it shows how much in denial I was about how big I’d become. I’m also very awkwardly now between a 16 and 14 so nothing fits properly. 16s hang off my bum and hips but 14s still too tight in the waist (thank you perimenopause).
Off on holiday today for a fortnight. Jabbed this morning and that will need to last till I get back as no fridge / high temps.

This next ten kg is my Covid weight…. I cannot wait to see the back of it.

Ingangoolie · 05/07/2025 09:40

Completely agree. I’m confused about clothes. Currently really enjoying wearing T-shirts that haven’t fitted me for years though!
and yeah, who knows how long it’ll last…

LilyLondon · 05/07/2025 12:36

@soupforbrains hang in there, you’ve had amazing losses so far! I know what you mean - it’s so discouraging to see the losses slow down mid-goal (I have less to lose, but I’m also half way through with bouncing up and down a lot followed by a minimal loss - I’m loosing my patience too… and it must feel so much harder the more you have ahead!). Try to think about it like this - the weeks are going to pass anyway. In 20 weeks, you can be 20lbs down, or same as today. But 20 weeks IS going to come and it’s going to be quicker than you think!

TheSpoonyNavyReader · 05/07/2025 12:56

Weight in 18.

Again I have not lost any weight and stayed the same again.

I have gone up to 10 and I have no SE, have recalculated my calories to 950 a day and drinking 3 litres of water a day. It seems I am having a stall and I will keep plodding on.

I am very bunged up and drank prune juice and taken senna, and no movement. It’s got so desperate that I am intolerant to eggs and suffer explosive 💩 if I eat eggs. Today I had an omelette, I will put up with the bright red face if it gets things moving and by the noises from my tummy we may have take off. We have a wedding tonight but I have timed it all so will not have side effects this evening.

Weigh in 18
SW 13st 4lbs

@TheSpoonyNavyReader are you only eating 950 calories a day? That seems very low?

TheBossOfMe · 05/07/2025 14:02

@TheSpoonyNavyReader Are you sure that 950 calories isn't actually so low that your body is trying to hold onto weight? If I went much below 1200 net a day, it actually seemed to slow my loss rather than speed it up?

Flamethrowers · 05/07/2025 14:18

Re pancreatitis. I think i may have developed gallstones - they run in my family and since starting Mounjaro I have clsssic signs of fat intolerance and my last bout of diarrhea after fat was beginning to verge on yellow. I hope not.

soupforbrains · 05/07/2025 14:54

Thanks so much for all the encouragement. You are all right that my losses are great overall and I had a Quick Look at my weight loss graph as that always cheers me up. I especially liked @LilyLondon’s comment about how it seems like a long slog and 1lb a week can feel too slow. But in 10weeks time if I had the choice of being the same weight or being 10lbs down what would I pick. Because you’re right it all adds up. And it still slightly blows my mind that I’m 3 STONE lighter going on this holiday than I was when I booked it… 🤯

TheSpoonyNavyReader · 05/07/2025 17:06

I will try anything at this moment in time I have been hoovering around this weight for 5 weeks. I have upped my protein, upped calories, upped exercise. I know I am at a stall but 5 weeks!

Sorry to hear that, I guess it’s good that you can be on the lookout for it with the awareness of it in your family but hopefully it’s nothing and just usual MJ side effects. Do you drink much alcohol? I’m a bit concerned I may need to knock the booze on the head, I do tend to drink a couple glasses of wine a day. Sometimes nothing. But most days something 🙈
