Week 2 weigh in. 1.75kg (4lb) loss bringing total loss to 5kg (11lb).

Took dose 3 last night and I have learned that the day after I am totally exhausted. The same thing has happened after every 💉 By day 2 I feel back to normal.

I've been lucky with SE overall but I'm really struggling with not being able to 💩. Pre-MJ I was 3-4 times a day but now I'm 1-2 per week. I'm drinking at least 2 litres water per day, psyllium husk at breakfast in a shake, x2 prunes after lunch and take senna at night. Lots of fibre from fruit and veg. This week I added Movicol x2 daily as I saw someone recommend that. I eat x3 meals per day so I know there's stuff inside me but I just can't go. I'm trying not to stress about it, and I'm not bothered if I don't go as frequently as before, but it can't be good for me.

One day I weighed myself in the morning, 1.5 hours later I 💩 and lost 0.5kg!!!! Another time I lost 400g with a 💩. One lucky day I did x2 💩 (after several Movicol) and lost 1kg. In between I gain weight with the food getting stuck.

Sorry for all the 💩 talk but it's a bit frustrating and I've struggled with what weight to record as a loss for this week because the scale had been fluctuating so much.

Thanks for new thread. Week 3 day 2 here.

Struggling a bit. Worried I'm not eating enough protein or calories.

And 'helpful' DH going on an on that I'm eating too much.

He seems to think I should be surviving on about 500 calories per day.

Made a big deal cos I was drinking some ginger ale tonight "oh you're having a sugary drink!"
It was helping my nausea and was a very small glass. Ffs

lissie123 · 17/05/2025 07:15

@SignedUpAgain its frustrating when partners do a running commentary on your food intake. I would be telling my DH to wind his neck in and trust the process 😜

Cucumberinginplease · 17/05/2025 08:00

Hello all! May I join?
W1 D2

Looking to loose between 2 and 3 stones. (3 will put me in the middle of healthy BMI, 2 will put me at the lightest I've ever been previously and was happy with).

I've lost 3st with conventional methods but really struggle with food noise and binge eating which has got so much worse over the years. Also the "sod it, ill start again tomorrow" followed by a binge mentality when dieting. Hoping this will help me reset.

Took my first jab yesterday morning. About 2 hours later mild nausea, similar to morning sickness feeling for me, kicked in which is still present. No other side effects as yet, so fingers crossed!

Thanks to the nausea appetite is virtually non existent so concentrating on protiens and veg. Don't have any desire to eat really. Was in Aldi getting the kids some icecreams for a paddling pool party after school and felt repulsed by it all. Very odd feeling!

Thankfully I'm fish like with water so don't think that'll be a problem!

ConfusedMiddleAger83 · 17/05/2025 08:13

End of week 1 weigh in here, 5lb down and really pleased with that. I know some will be water but hopefully some fat also! I have about 10 stone to lose so a long road.

In my first week I didn’t really have much suppression or reduction in food noise, side effects were a bit of nausea and a bit of a headache on day 2/3 and one episode of diarrhoea but pretty mild. Hoping the suppression does kick in as it builds up in my system. Doing ok for now on willpower, especially with the great loss, but have terrible history of sustaining diets so know later on I will need that help.

Great to hear how everyone is getting on and compare experiences, good luck to those just starting/waiting for your pens. I was so worried I was doing something dangerous or risky after my perceptions of the jabs but my first week has reassured me.

MoggiMay · 17/05/2025 09:11

Checking in!

w2 d4 for me - last injection didn’t go in properly.. looked at the dog and accidentally lifted the injection site a bit so ended up with a bit of a bump. Hopefully it still absorbed!

SW 18st 11lb
CW 18st 1lb
GW 12st 7lb

desperately want to get into the 17st mark now!

Gingefringe · 17/05/2025 09:24

Good morning May starters. W3D2 for me. I've lost 7lb so far - 5lb in W1 then 2lb in W2 and I'm feeling ok with no significant side effects.

I get my pens from the local village pharmacy - there was a sign on their door saying that they sold WLJ and I just walked in for a consultation with the pharmacist who gave me the first pen after weigh in, chat etc. I will need a face to face consultation each time I need a new pen but she said it's a very popular service and they've helped lots of people. I'm not sure if this is a country-wide thing but worth mentioning as a lot of posters seem to be having issues with delays from online pharmacies. Mine cost £149.

I'm going on holiday next week with extended family and don't really want to mention it - I know they would just be talking about it the whole time and commenting on my eating. I've just ordered an insulated pen holder off Amazon (thanks for the tip upthread) so will just have to keep the pen in my room and use the ice packs as I don't want to keep the pen in the communal fridge!

Good luck to all the new starters. x

Fatrosrhun · 17/05/2025 09:25

Well done everyone on your losses.

Just checking in. My first pen is about to arrive this morning (signed up Thurs afternoon to Voy).

I did a no sugar diet years ago. My skin was fabulous and the weight came off in all the right places (waist, legs bingo wings!). It also massively helped with peri menopause symptoms. I’m hoping to do the same this time. It was called JERF - just eat real food. Nothing processed. I loved it. Lost 2.5 stones easily but fell off the wagon when my husband was very ill and in hospital for weeks. I’m nervous about the jabs - partly because I’m veggie and wondering where I’ll eat the protein if I’m not having much cheese (not keen on eggs). I really don’t want to have to have protein shakes etc. Anyway, we’ll see how it works for me.

LessWeightKate · 17/05/2025 09:47

No need to apologise for the poop talk, @AlicesMum2025 It's all part of the journey (and a cause for much rejoicing in my family's group chat 🤣)

Morning everyone! Well done on the losses and hello to fellow newbies!

Im now w1d2 and I’ve not felt nauseated but suppression is strong (which im finding eerie at the moment). I also am really achy around my shoulders and neck like I’ve been really working out. A search on reddit suggests it might be an immune response so I’m hoping that eases off. 🙏

@Fatrosrhun im vegan so also unsure how to hit the protein without shakes. I logged back into my ancient My fitness pal account and going to track initially if nothing else to see how I’m doing with it

Merluzzo · 17/05/2025 10:09

Morning everyone, just checking in for the first time. W1D1 for me, I’ve just taken the first dose.

I have 3 stone to lose after years of yo-yo dieting and I’m so glad I’ve taken this step. It was reading the threads on Mumsnet that gave me the motivation, there are some incredible success stories here.

It’s much too early to know if I’ll get any SE, but SheMed included a little care package of Gaviscon, Loperamide, Senokot and Wind-eze, so all bases covered there 😂

Moveanymountain · 17/05/2025 10:30

Morning all - can I jump aboard! Took my first jab yesterday. Heartburn from hell overnight!!! I’m a regular sufferer of heartburn and been on omeprazole for years (GORD) but had weaned myself off as I had given up alcohol and was eating “clean” but I think I’ll be starting taking it again!

Apart from that, feeling ok. strange to wake up not “starving”. Got a list of supplements, vitamins etc to get today. Also getting some healthy low fat/carb, protein rich food.

If anyone as been on the alcohol support threads, you might know I’ve had a problem with the demon drink - currently haven’t really drank for about 3/4 months but I do still have cravings. I’m hoping the MJ might stop those too!

SW 76kgs
TW 60 kgs

I’m only 5’1” so would love to get down to 57kgs (9 stone) which even then is the high end of healthy (my target weight is still technically overweight) but at my age (60) I’m trying to be realistic about what I can achieve and maintain without living a joyless life!

looking forward to being on this journey with you all ❤️💪

tostaky · 17/05/2025 10:33

This is only Day 2 for me and i dont know if i am imagining it but i feel fantastic! I had energy yesterday evening and went for a walk with DP in the evening. Usually you can find me slumped onto my sofa comes friday evening, very lethargic. Same this morning i feel my energy level have improved ever so slightly! I wonder about the impact of the jab with the perimenopause ? Im still having regular periods at 48.
appetite wise, definitely little i terest in food and feeling constantly a bit queasy but not too much that it’s bothering .
i love how i feel, it is great!😊

I know what you mean @Gingefringe - I’m telling certain people but not others. I’m not “ashamed” taking it or anything, I just cba with the know-it-alls and their unwanted advice. Specifically my sister who smokes like a chimney, drinks like a fish, eats like a rabbit and does zero exercise but is thin as a rake (from the smoking/drinking/not eating) and very unhealthy but believes the “eat less, move more” mantra. Due to go to dinner with her soon but I won’t be saying anything.

Enjoy your holiday - be nice to think you’re not coming back with tons of weight gain!

Pecano · 17/05/2025 11:54

Hi all!
I’ve just started MJ 2.5 last week, weighed in and took my second jab this morning - had lost an amazing 12 pounds in the first week!!! Suppression was unreal, can’t believe I’ve waited this long to try it. Not expecting to get this amount of loss every week of course, but it’s definitely motivated me to continue with good habits and healthy choices.

WhyArePiratesCalledPiratessss · 17/05/2025 12:17

Hi!
I started on Tuesday night...
Wow.
It's an absolute game changer.
I've lost 6lbs since Wednesday morning weigh in. I know this can't carry on, and I was drinking the weekend before so some of this will be bloating and possibly hormones, but either way, 6lbs is blooming marvellous!

I did have a few choc hob nobs last night (but not the whole packet - winning!) And woke up with a headache. Reading posters here, that may not be a coincidence.
I've also not a drink, or the urge to drink all week - there's an open bottle (from monday) gathering dust in my kitchen. Will chuck it away in a bit.

Generally eating better, not drinking booze and upping my water makes me feel so much better (weird, right??) So the weightloss is icing on the cake! Wish I had done this ages ago. I let people talk me out of it. But... here now. And loving it!

lifetheuniverseandeverything42 · 17/05/2025 12:19

My pen has arrived but I think I will start tomorrow evening. I'd rather have the strongest suppression M-F as I work from home and tend to raid the fridge. I do less of that at the weekend when everyone is around and we are doing things together. What vitamins/supplements are people taking? Any protein shake recommendations?

Merluzzo · 17/05/2025 12:19

@Pecano Wow, 12lbs in 1 week is incredible. Well done, that must be really motivating.

Beans, lentils, chickpeas and tofu are your friends.

I do a bean soup which has huge amounts of protein in.

It’s entirely possible on a vegetarian or vegan diet. And quite affordable too.

stripesdotsdashes · 17/05/2025 12:51

Slow loser here 👋 but very happy
Started Friday 2nd May, 3rd shot yesterday, does that make me week 3 or 2?!
Lost nearly 2kg (4lbs) in 2 weeks but most importantly 3 inches off my abdomen!! I feel so much better in clothes already.
Good suppression till day 5/6 then a bit of a battle of wills. I'm going to try and switch providers shortly as Morrisons jumps up in price for 5mg.

DBatteryBand · 17/05/2025 13:04

Has anyone else's face suddenly started to look all bright and shiny? I'm drinking gallons (it seems) of water and herbal tea instead of my usual gallons of wine and coffee and my skin is suddenly looking so much better.

Redsparklybucket · 17/05/2025 13:08

I started this morning too, feel fine, apart from a bruise where I injected, I do bruise very easily though

I have given this a huge amount of thought and research and am viewing this as the kick start I need to change my eating habits and develop a healthy relationship with food.

i have had 2 slices of gf bread (also coeliac!) and marmite and don’t feel hungry, normally I would have scoffed more already, nit sure if that’s mindset or suppression! Am chugging water down!

Seahorsesplendour · 17/05/2025 13:12

Happy weekend everyone!! Welcome to newbies! Great that so many people along for the journey! I can’t quite believe how different I feel to this time last week!

w2d2 (Altho technically wk2 day1 as did my 2nd jab a day early!!)

felt great early weeks 1 struggled more the last couple of days and was starving all day yesterday despising injecting in the morning!

however I was still found the cravings easy to ignore & was easy to make good choices! Today I feel really tired but the suppression is the most it’s ever been!!!

really didn’t need to eat lunch but energy wise I did! I did not fancy anything! Was saved by a healthy field dr ready meal I had in freezer which had a good amount of protein too so hopefully that’ll save the day!!

eurovision party tonight so need to keep my energy levels up!!! 😂

Seahorsesplendour · 17/05/2025 13:14

And I forgot to say 8lb down!!!! Sure it was mostly water but feels great that its gone anyway!!!! 😆

I am having my injections delivered today but will start tomorrow evening as well.
Am not working until next Sunday so will have time to figure out diet side effects etc .
